Karen Read Is Free!

The Commonwealth's conspiracy did not work. She got probation for drunk driving.

by Anonymousreply 66June 20, 2025 4:55 AM

Wow!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 1June 18, 2025 7:23 PM

Nicole Kidman BETTER not play her in the Netflix miniseries.

by Anonymousreply 2June 18, 2025 7:39 PM

This is surprising

by Anonymousreply 3June 18, 2025 7:39 PM

The commonwealth conspiracy? She's the one who made his death out to be a conspiracy

by Anonymousreply 4June 18, 2025 7:42 PM

When did she get probation? I heard the judge talk about a sentencing date next week.

by Anonymousreply 5June 18, 2025 7:58 PM

Bitch did it.

by Anonymousreply 6June 18, 2025 8:02 PM

[quote]This is surprising

Not really. This is in ultra-liberal woke Massachusetts.

The woke glorify and sympathize with murderers/violent criminals, especially if they're black or female.

And John O'Keefe was a white male and cop to boot -- three things that the woke left absolutely abhor.

by Anonymousreply 7June 18, 2025 8:06 PM

As the verdict was being read on camera inside the courtroom, you could hear the screams outside.

by Anonymousreply 8June 18, 2025 8:10 PM

[quote] During that [US Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts ] investigation, federally hired accident-reconstruction experts determined O’Keefe’s injuries were not consistent with having been sustained in a vehicle strike and that the damage to Read’s SUV taillight was not consistent with having resulted from a pedestrian hit.

by Anonymousreply 9June 18, 2025 8:15 PM

[quote] the state’s own medical examiner testified that she did not find evidence on O’Keefe’s body that suggested he had been hit by a car; aside from abrasions on his arm, he had no significant injuries below his neck.

by Anonymousreply 10June 18, 2025 8:17 PM

Massachusetts here. We recognize a messy drunk liar pretty easily and this whole thing has been a travesty. The prosecution did an excellent job with this case.

The victim's family, the witnesses and the jurors were all doxxed, harassed and intimidated by a blogger and a bunch of people paid to stand outside the courthouse wearing pink and threaten them all. Read paid for it all, and that will all come out in the NEXT TRIAL (the blogger has been charged with many counts of witness intimidation).

by Anonymousreply 11June 18, 2025 8:18 PM

Yes, R7, because Caucasian male murderers/violent criminals NEVER get acquitted of murders they actually committed.

If you had certain evidence of her guilt, why didn't you present it to the prosecution team? I mean, if Read is as obviously guilty as you seem to feel.

by Anonymousreply 12June 18, 2025 8:19 PM

[quote] Read has spent her life savings, liquidated her retirement funds, sold her house, and relied on donations to afford three-plus years of trial costs. Her lawyers have deferred much of their fees.

by Anonymousreply 14June 18, 2025 9:40 PM

Her contract with 20/20 or Deadline will cover it all.

by Anonymousreply 15June 18, 2025 10:07 PM

I'm continually baffled (but amused) by the trolls who try to make this about race. O'Keefe was a white man who was killed by white people in a crime that additional white people tried to blame on another white person.

by Anonymousreply 16June 18, 2025 10:22 PM

I think she’s innocent actually.

by Anonymousreply 17June 18, 2025 10:27 PM

The Commonwealth did a shitty job. Beyond a reasonable doubt is a high standard, but it’s the way the law’s written in Massachusetts and the prosecution didn’t prove their case. The state’s medical examiner would not support the prosecution. The Fed’s reconstruction experts didn’t back the prosecutor either. There’s just too much doubt to convict.

Right or wrong, Turtleboy’s case has been outrageously slow-walked by the State keeping him in jail for months on trumped-up charges, allegedly based on an ex’s coerced testimony. I’m assuming his vindication will cost Norfolk County a lot more money than crowd control around the courthouse has cost during the trials.

Something happened involving a lot of cops, some of them dirty. The town of Canton’s PD is a shitshow. Change isn’t easy in small towns. Canton has to deal with it, though, because it has pissed off a lot of residents. Read will have some kind of celebrity afterlife but I don’t see her transforming her trials, literal and actual, into a career. But what do I know?

It’s strange. Massachusetts is one of the safest states in the country and Boston the country’s safest big city, and yet our cops, from the FBI (Whitey Bulger) to the Staties (scandal after scandal after scandal), to the local departments are way too often corrupt and even more often incompetent., as here.

She may or may not be innocent. The jury found her not guilty.

by Anonymousreply 18June 18, 2025 10:36 PM

R7, and yet Massachusetts has a low crime rate compared to most red states

Why are the red states so violent?

by Anonymousreply 19June 18, 2025 10:37 PM

R19 The state’s medical examiner would not support the prosecution.

That will always be rough for the prosecution. Always.

by Anonymousreply 20June 18, 2025 10:41 PM

R19 His response is going to be racist, watch.

by Anonymousreply 21June 18, 2025 10:41 PM

IT'S LIKE OJ ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 22June 18, 2025 10:49 PM

I hope the big picture film is a black comedy.

by Anonymousreply 23June 18, 2025 10:51 PM

That would work r23.

by Anonymousreply 24June 18, 2025 10:54 PM

Fuck Aidan Kearney and his bale of screeching turtles.

by Anonymousreply 25June 18, 2025 11:02 PM

She’s innocent, imho.

The guy didn’t die because she ran him over. He died because something happened in that house, & the family dog or some random dog joined in on the attack.

Those marks on his arms are conducive to animal bites, & a bunch of dirty cops attempted to frame her.

Glad the jurors reached the correct conclusion!

by Anonymousreply 26June 18, 2025 11:23 PM

Ugh, I accidentally WWed r11. For the record, I disagree and I’m glad she was acquitted. I’m extremely suspicious of that weirdo cop family in the house…the ones who never came out even during hours of emergency personnel traipsing in their front yard.

by Anonymousreply 27June 18, 2025 11:54 PM

Karen Read didn't hit anybody with her car.

She may be unlikable and a black out drunk but John was killed in that house.

Again, John O'Keefe died from blunt trauma to the BACK of his head and hypothermia. It's not physically possible that the existing wounds were caused by an SUV.

That Canton/State Trooper bunch is notoriously crooked. Now that Karen is innocent, the McCabe and Albert families are looking at some trouble.

I still expect one of the cops will die while "cleaning his gun".

by Anonymousreply 28June 19, 2025 12:25 AM

"Massachusetts here. We recognize a messy drunk liar pretty easily..."

Well, I'd get your messy-drunk-liar 'dar a tune up, 'cause there was a whole bunch of 'em at 34 Fairview that you're not recognizing.

by Anonymousreply 29June 19, 2025 12:48 AM

She’s not “innocent.” She’s not guilty.

by Anonymousreply 30June 19, 2025 1:15 AM

R28, she did it. No one else is looking at any trouble besides her because she's the one who is guilty.

She's the only person who had a motive

by Anonymousreply 31June 19, 2025 1:18 AM

Did she scratch him to death, R31?

by Anonymousreply 32June 19, 2025 1:21 AM

R31, no one on "our side" is arguing that ANYONE had a motive for murder. A drunken, jealous Masshole sucker-punched a romantic rival and got a whole lot more than he was bargaining for. That's it. That's all.

by Anonymousreply 33June 19, 2025 1:27 AM

He was not hit by Karens' SUV, the trauma was to the BACK of his head.

How do you explain that r31?

It was a bunch of drunken asshole cops and for whatever reason he took a beating. He had a beef with the crazy/violent nephew.

And what about the dog? According to the Alberts, John never entered the house. Where did the scratches come from?

My horse lives in Milton (next town) and my rich housewife barn mates have been obsessed with this since the beginning. It was when the basement at the Alberts' house was gutted and the house sold quickly that I knew.

The truth will out in good time.

by Anonymousreply 34June 19, 2025 2:12 AM

I followed the first trial. The defense storyline of what happened was so wacky, I could not believe it got traction. I lived in Massachusetts for 10 years and had fond memories of it, but seeing and hearing the characters in this case has cured me of any nostalgia for the place.

by Anonymousreply 35June 19, 2025 2:16 AM

Unfortunately, police corruption runs rampant in many large cities & small towns across America.

I’m pleased she has been acquitted. This case smelled like B.S. from jump street.

I hope she can successfully move on with her life, and heal from such a travesty. It won’t be easy for her, but she can be happy again, & wish nothing but the very best for her.

by Anonymousreply 36June 19, 2025 4:12 AM

She needs to relocate and start her life over.

by Anonymousreply 37June 19, 2025 4:26 AM

I just realize realize this ho is named Karen. This has endless Hollywood mythological potential.

by Anonymousreply 38June 19, 2025 4:30 AM

Even if I believed she got away with it, the corruption is more disturbing. In fact even worse. I don't believe she did it but I feel sure there were people along the way who believed she was and were willing to help it along. Who convinced them?

Not confident it will make much difference.

by Anonymousreply 39June 19, 2025 4:42 AM

I don't think she did it, either. It sounded like the other cops, prosecutor, and judge all conspired to frame her.

So I suppose there's zero chance of any investigation into what actually happened.

by Anonymousreply 40June 19, 2025 4:58 AM

Invited to a premeditated murder-party

The cops inside the party murdered the other cop and planned to frame the drunky wife

by Anonymousreply 41June 19, 2025 9:05 AM

She'd be well advised to settle, as the outcome is likely to be much different in the civil case.

by Anonymousreply 42June 19, 2025 9:51 AM

She could make ten million in a few months on Onlyfans.

R41: "Invited to a premeditated murder-party. The cops inside the party murdered the other cop and planned to frame the drunky wife."

Nah. A fight got out of hand and led to an accidental death. They put him on the lawn and hoped others would assume he was hit by a snow plow. But then Karen Read showed up at the scene, and began wondering aloud, "Did I hit him? Could I have hit him?" They didn't even have to pivot to Plan B. She did it for them, in her grief and confusion. All they had to do was keep their mouths shut.

But luckily, they're not the brightest of people, and thought it would be just fine to have a group text chat in which they talked about everything except how horrible it was that their dear friend had JUST DIED. Seriously, read that text chat and try to imagine what it should have looked like: "Isn't it it awful that he was right outside and we didn't know? We could have helped him. I don't know how I'm going to live with this." Nope. Nothing.

by Anonymousreply 45June 19, 2025 2:12 PM

Why couldn’t it be: she dropped him off. He staggered a few steps towards the house , slipped and fell. Hit the back of his head. His phone location info says it never went further than that. A while later, the homeowner let the dogs out to pee, they found the body still alive but unconscious. Made those bite marks on his arm, and then were called back into the house by the homeowner. He didn’t notice the body because drunk or it was covered with a layer of snow, whatever. Nobody is the bad guy but then they decided to get creative.

by Anonymousreply 46June 19, 2025 2:53 PM

R45, a "fight" sounds plausible.

but the dog bites are some seriously weighed evidence.

and dog-bite expertise is such a practiced and common court-room procedure — ever since the arrival of uber, door-dash and amazon drivers who show up after sundown near fences that aren't that tall.

But it does seem like we are beginning to see extrajudicial juries, making themselves felt in this country

by Anonymousreply 50June 19, 2025 4:51 PM

R47, oh, I absolutely believe the dog bites happened, too, during the altercation. The dog-bite expert was the strongest expert the defense had, IMO.

by Anonymousreply 51June 19, 2025 4:55 PM

It's all under investigation by the FBI and has been for a while. It's not closed.

I remember reading around the time of the first trial that one of the female party-goer's Apple watch captured her in a frenzy of activity at her home after the incident, like she was nervously pacing around. IIRC, her BP and pulse were also elevated. I found that interesting. Wouldn't most people pass out drunk or sit in a dazed state of disbelief after a night like that? Unless you knew your friends were up to no good.

by Anonymousreply 54June 19, 2025 7:28 PM

As someone in the trial pointed out, the dogs would have had to have no lower teeth.

by Anonymousreply 55June 19, 2025 7:49 PM

The deceased's brother is hot AF.

by Anonymousreply 56June 19, 2025 7:52 PM

I'm sure you know more about dog bites than Dr. Marie Russell, the forensic pathologist who has seen hundreds of dog bites over the decades of her work for the state of Rhode Island, R55.

by Anonymousreply 57June 19, 2025 7:58 PM

R11 is right, the conspiracy theories are so insane. Let’s pretend we have a reason to want to off a fellow police officer in some big conspiracy, we could stage a strange car accident and leave his body exactly where she had backed up, and all of the other crazy texts etc, or we could inject the person with fentanyl which is plentiful and which police officers would have access too. The whole thing is so crazy, I couldn’t understand while Turtle Boy who is a champion of white supremacists and misogynists but if he is getting paid that makes much more sense. She was drunk, she back into him and either didn’t notice or was all pissed off and assumed it was a little tap, he fell, end of story, Drunk sloppy people. And obviously the police in Canton are a mess evidenced by the fact that they were all drunk, drunk driving, partying together in Canton during a snow storm, and the crazy texts, but I am pretty sure you would find the same in Philadelphia, St. Louis, etc.

by Anonymousreply 58June 19, 2025 8:17 PM

Except, r58, the forensic evidence shows that the injuries to the body are inconsistent with your version of events.

by Anonymousreply 59June 19, 2025 9:19 PM

R57 That whore, yes I do. I thought they only found pig DNA on the clothing

by Anonymousreply 60June 19, 2025 9:45 PM

Dog bites with no puncture wounds? Even the expert witness conceded that is not normal. And no dog DNA anywhere. And tail light fragments all planted after the body was moved? They were so clever they even thought to impregnate the clothing fibers with the matching microplastics. Those Canton cops ah so wicked shady.

by Anonymousreply 61June 20, 2025 3:07 AM

Anyone saying he was attacked by a dog or people in the house didn't watch the expert review the victim's phone data. Karen's SUV stopped outside the house at 12:24. John didn't get out and walk according to his Apple health and location data until 12:31. At 12:32 John locked his phone and within a few seconds at 12:32 Karen went in reverse at 24 miles per hour. John's phone never moved from the flagpole after 12:32 and the location was never in the house. Those theories are unsupported. Karen has lied, changed her story, and admitted she could have hit him.

by Anonymousreply 62June 20, 2025 3:34 AM

What about the Apple Health data, R62? Eighty steps and three flights of stairs. And how about Karen's phone connecting to the Wi-Fi at John's house at 12:36? We could play this game all day.

by Anonymousreply 63June 20, 2025 3:46 AM

Not all day. The defense whataboutisms would run thin. But it doesn't matter because they worked on the jury. There's still the civil suit. Do you think Karen will make it her life's mission to find the real killers?

by Anonymousreply 64June 20, 2025 4:28 AM

Now would be an excellent time for Karen to buy a home in Florida - prices are down, lots of inventory and the property will be exempt from seizure to satisfy any impending judgement. She'll also need a means for sheltering the proceeds from all the upcoming media deals.

by Anonymousreply 65June 20, 2025 4:53 AM

R33, Karen had a motive
