Mango.
Then: fresh-off-the-tree - peach or nectarine.
Next: sun-ripened strawberries you either grew yourself or bought from the field where they grow them.

There's nothing quite like a chilled watermelon on a hot summer day. Some soul-restoring magic right there.
Other notable mentions from me: persimmon, forest berries, mulberries, and gooseberries. I'm a berry queen, basically.

Pomegranates, hands down! When I was growing up (1970s), we had a big pomegranate tree in our front yard, and I was completely addicted to them, much to my mother's chagrin.
During the fall-winter months, I'd eat a couple pomegranates every day when I got home from school. I'd pick them from the tree (gently warmed by the afternoon sun), crack them open on the driveway, and sit on the front lawn to eat them...because they were NOT allowed inside the house! (stains) I was also not allowed to eat them in my school uniform because of the staining.
But what really drove my mother nuts (in addition to the many t-shirts I ruined): I ate SO many of them that by the latter part of the season, the skin under my fingernails would become slightly stained -- and looked perpetually dirty. Like I had dried blood under my nails, LOL.
We laughed about it years later, my mom commenting: "You drove me crazy with the pomegranates! But you rarely ever had colds!" (unlike my brother, who wasn't into the pomegranates)
It pains me to no end to think about that tree, now, when see I supermarkets charging $2.50-$3.00 each. I remember when Pomegranates became "fashionable" (so to speak) about 20 years ago -- with the introduction of "Pom". Like everyone had JUST discovered them, and their (delicious) antioxidant properties. They're still my favorite, but very much a "treat" at that price point.
I eat a Pink Lady/Pink Crispp apple, and a banana, almost daily. Apple slices & peanut/almond butter are one of my go-to quick lunches. Apples & bananas aren't my "favorite " fruits; they are just the most reliable/economical ones. I love strawberries, blueberries, blackberries but I've been burned too many times by containers that *looked* & smelled great, but were just "Meh". Kinda flavorless and/or went bad in a couple days.
