TYLER PERRY SUED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ... 'Oval' Actor Claims Years of Harassment

Tyler Perry is facing an accusation of sexual assault -- a claim coming from an actor on his long-running TV show, "The Oval," and one Tyler's camp calls a "scam" ... TMZ has learned.

Derek Dixon filed a lawsuit against Perry, and in the docs he claims he and the director met at an event back in 2019 -- in Derek's words, Tyler picked him out of the crowd and asked for his phone number, suggesting he might have a role for him.

As it turns out, he did ... Derek says Tyler gave him a small role in 2 episodes of a show called, "Ruthless."

Then, in January 2020, Derek says Tyler invited him to his Atlanta home, and he accepted, hoping to build a friendship that would lead to more acting gigs. But, according to the suit, while there ... Derek drank too much, and ended up sleeping in a guest room.

In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Derek claims Tyler got into the bed with him, and started touching his thighs -- and, although, he rejected the advances that night ... he claims Tyler remained interested.

Shortly thereafter, Derek says he landed the role of Dale in "The Oval" -- great for his career, but he claims it was around this time that Tyler also started firing off sexually suggestive texts ... including asking what Drew's sexual preferences were, and telling him he has sex with men.

Derek also notes his character, Dale, was written as a gay, homeless and desperate store clerk who had to sleep with other characters for a place to stay. He claims that's exactly what Tyler told him he was looking for in a real life sexual partner ... someone who would be loyal and dependent upon Tyler.

Derek says he feared his career would be derailed if he flatly rejected Tyler -- so, instead he told him he just wasn't "the sexual type" ... but he was always terrified he'd lose his job if he complained of sexual harassment.

To that point, he says Tyler, once again, invited him to Atlanta later in 2020 ... and things allegedly took a dark turn. Derek claims Perry greeted him warmly, but quickly started a sexually charged conversation -- like asking him if he "likes it rough in bed" -- and then grabbed Derek by the throat while saying, "Look how excited you just got."

He says he pushed Tyler away, and that was the end of that alleged incident.

The lawsuit includes years of text messages allegedly sent by between both men -- most of the ones Tyler allegedly sent are sexually charged ... for instance one reads, "No straight man would be going on walks with you or cooking dinner for you unless they wanted to f**k you. I would f**k you."

The most aggressive incident allegedly went down in June 2021, again at Tyler's Atlanta home -- Dixon was staying in the guest house and wearing only his underwear, when he says Tyler came in to give him a goodnight hug.

He alleges Tyler yanked down his underwear, groped his butt and said, "Relax and just let it happen" and assured him it wasn't going to hurt. Dixon says he managed to rebuff this advance by changing the subject.

According to the suit, Dixon finally filed a complaint with Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission in June 2024, and then quit "The Oval," saying he could no longer put up with the alleged sexual harassment.

Dixon is suing Tyler and Tyler Perry Studios for quid pro quo and workplace sexual harassment and sexual assault and battery ... and he's seeking $260 million in damages.

Tyler's attorney Matthew Boyd tells us, "This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam. But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.”

Is anybody surprised?

by Anonymousreply 1June 17, 2025 9:14 PM

There was a similar case a while back that got swept under the rug.

He was just photographed hanging out with Mariah Carey's ex on a yacht.

by Anonymousreply 2June 17, 2025 9:14 PM

I bet Meghan told Harry to shut up and go along with it when Miss Perry put the moves on him while those two were refugees in his home.

by Anonymousreply 3June 17, 2025 9:16 PM

Welcome to the Sex Pest Club, Tyler!

by Anonymousreply 4June 17, 2025 9:18 PM

The only surprise is that it took this long for this to happen.

Was it the background dancer Brian Tanaka, r2?

by Anonymousreply 8June 17, 2025 9:27 PM

Yes R8. Tyler's fans were having a shitfit in the comments section because people were calling it a hookup.

People still think Tyler isn't gay?

by Anonymousreply 9June 17, 2025 9:31 PM

It's sad. Years of hiding who you are, and all that money, yet you still have to drop hints instead of just dating openly. The success also clearly warps their expectations from others.

by Anonymousreply 10June 17, 2025 9:33 PM

If only Perry had coupled his overtures with a bottle of Harvey’s Bristol Crème Ale 🍺 everything would have been downright upright!

by Anonymousreply 11June 17, 2025 9:37 PM

Nobody who knows is surprised. Ask anyone around the Atlanta area. They ALL know about Mr. Perry's casting coach. TP has been one of the most notorious closet monsters long before his big break. Classic southern/black/christian closet case. Combine that with Hollywood politics, the black church, and extreme wealth...

Let's see how long this one plays out. Tyler has a way of getting away with whatever he wants...

by Anonymousreply 12June 17, 2025 9:40 PM

He’s NOT gay.

by Anonymousreply 13June 17, 2025 9:40 PM

I remember when the Writers' Guild of America successfully sued Tyler Perry for hiring four young Black screenwriters and then firing them when the four sought union membership.

He's little better than the narcissist currently stinking-up the Oval Office.

by Anonymousreply 14June 17, 2025 9:43 PM

Suing for $260M is not a good look for DD; it bolsters the idea that this IS a scam, thought it probably isn't.

I also don't understand his being choked in 2020 like that but then he's back at the mansion a year later--in the guest room wearing only underwear??

by Anonymousreply 15June 17, 2025 9:49 PM

^^ though

by Anonymousreply 16June 17, 2025 9:49 PM

I would love for this to be a 'hot topic' on 'The View', but we all know Whoopi won't allow it. But it would be nice to hear Sunny tell us she had the 'difficult conversation' with her son Gabe about taking a box of condoms with him, should Tyler Perry invite him to his house in Atlanta.

by Anonymousreply 17June 17, 2025 9:50 PM

Welp, there goes Sister Act III.

by Anonymousreply 18June 17, 2025 9:52 PM

He HAS to sue for a shitload of money, because no one will ever hire him again, no matter what the outcome

by Anonymousreply 19June 17, 2025 9:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 22June 17, 2025 10:02 PM

I believe it. This is exactly what TP Is known for (casting couch for male pulchritude, along with the obligatory minor role, don't let get too famous & sweep under the rug) but ... DD had to know what was coming. I hope he has the receipts.

From O’Connell’s Wikipedia:

“ Starting his career at the Actors Studio in Chicago, O'Connell permanently relocated to Los Angeles so he could continue modeling, and start acting. O'Connell started acting classes. He eventually booked several commercials, including the Liquid-Plumr where he caught the eye of Tyler Perry.[9]

O'Connell initially thought it was a joke when he was contacted by Perry's production company about auditioning for a role in a new television series. Perry contacted O'Connell himself and asked him to audition over Skype. Perry then traveled to Los Angeles to meet with O'Connell about the role of Wyatt on The Haves and the Have Nots.[2] O'Connell was actually the first of the ensemble to be cast.[9]”

by Anonymousreply 45June 17, 2025 11:54 PM

R1 I’m surprised. I’ve never heard him being accused of sexual assault. Being downlow, closeted, or even tricking does not mean one is a sexual predator. But then again Americans are increasingly lacking critical thinking and reading skills.

by Anonymousreply 46June 18, 2025 12:15 AM

This is hilarious. He won't be out in this day and age and is still afraid with all that money. Well God granted him riches but in the looks department he never got up to the counter. I can just imagine what safe places the men he pays for sex have to imagine in their minds when that tub of lard is on top of them. Next we will see him in a gay bunker in Tel Aviv saying he's there doing charity work.

While I do believe Tyler Perry is a gay man, it is a little hard to believe he's stupid enough in the post-Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby era to mix business and pleasure by inviting attractive actors (who he employs) to his damn personal residences to get them wasted. That is just an asinine move if this is true.

[quote]There was a similar case a while back that got swept under the rug.

That was Christian Keyes. He starred in Tyler's early stage plays many years ago and later on TV. Keyes claimed later that the man who allegedly sexual harassed him wasn't Perry, but who knows if he got paid

by Anonymousreply 64June 18, 2025 3:53 AM

I skimmed the article but didn't read it carefully. Did Derek Dixon get promises that weren't fulfilled and is now suing or did he get what was promised but now regrets what he did to get it? What's the cliff notes version? It's absolutely crazy for someone in power to imply or suggest "favors" for anything these days. If I were in a position of power, I would make sure that I was never alone with anyone.

by Anonymousreply 65June 18, 2025 3:55 AM

Derek Dixon had a show he was trying to get off the ground. Perry produced the pilot and said he was going to shop it around, but he kept stalling and making excuses and Dixon realized Perry never intended to help him make the show; Dixon felt it was just a tactic to keep Dixon for telling anyone about the harassment.

by Anonymousreply 66June 18, 2025 4:01 AM

[quote]While I do believe Tyler Perry is a gay man, it is a little hard to believe he's stupid enough in the post-Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby era to mix business and pleasure

People who are very wealthy and powerful believe they will never suffer consequences for anything they do. They don't draw conclusions from what happens to other people because they can't conceive of themselves as anything but unique and special and not bound by the rules.

by Anonymousreply 67June 18, 2025 4:11 AM

This was going to happen sooner or later, or… it’s all bullshit.

I love that Perry employs black actors who’d probably not work unless he employed them, and I also do not believe Perry is deep in the closet or homophobic, but unfortunately, many in his targeted demographic are.

I’ll wait & see how this shakes out, because I don’t believe he’s a total POS, however, I do believe he is susceptible to poor choices while tipsy or balls out drunk.

We shall see.

by Anonymousreply 68June 18, 2025 4:14 AM

I always wondered whether this would catch up with him.

**Many years later, after seeing the film Precious, Perry was moved to reveal for the first time that he had been molested by a friend's mother at age 10. He was also molested by three men prior to this and later learned his own father had molested his friend. A DNA test taken by Perry indicated that Emmitt Sr. was not Perry's biological father.**

by Anonymousreply 71June 18, 2025 4:24 AM

I have been annoyed to the point of harassment twice in the workplace. One was another (older) guy who held a position above me. The other was an older woman that was more of a coworker than a supervisor. Both involved them being touchy-feely and saying inappropriate things. I never had sex with them or saw them outside of the workplace. It was uncomfortable and I was always trying to avoid them. The guy ended up being fired because someone else reported him (another gay guy he was bothering). I never even considered suing for millions $$$. I figured that happened to everyone when they were young and cute.

by Anonymousreply 72June 18, 2025 4:25 AM

[quote]and, although, he rejected the advances that night ... he claims Tyler remained interested.

[quote] ...thereafter, Derek says he landed the role of Dale in "The Oval"

Aaaaaaand scene! "thereafter" is doing a lot of work, no?

I mean, I'm sure it is all true, but what's also true is that this young man gladly traded something he had for something he wanted, just like all those Harvey Weinstein actresses did for years, and "thereafter" got film roles!

It is alleged by many that "The Oval" has the very worst acting on television...since television was invented, to be precise.

by Anonymousreply 77June 18, 2025 5:26 AM

Derek Dixon sure follows a lot of gay male celebrities on Instagram. I see he turned off his comments on all of his posts. Hmm...

While I believe what's being alleged, I think Derek is a sugarbaby that was looking for the right sponsor. Miss Perry didn't produce the show he scripted as promised, and he feels scorned, and now he's retaliating by suing him for sexual harassment.

by Anonymousreply 78June 18, 2025 5:37 AM

It's completely rational for Dixon to turn comments off in this situation. Any competent PR would advise it.

by Anonymousreply 86June 18, 2025 11:28 AM

The texts I've seen are ridiculous, and don't really father the Derek's case. Tyler Perry flirts, and suggests Derek is too uptight sexually, to which Derek responds "I'm working on it. #therapy"

They both seem to be playing a game with each other.

by Anonymousreply 87June 18, 2025 11:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 107June 18, 2025 4:47 PM

Has Christian Keyes commented yet?

by Anonymousreply 108June 18, 2025 4:53 PM

The way these shake-downs usually work is that the "wronged" party hooks up with some shady attorney. The shady attorney will reach out to the mark's attorneys with an offer to make it go away. If they accept the offer, a sum is negotiated, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) are signed, and that's it. If the mark doesn't want to make it go away, the shady attorney will file a lawsuit for an exorbitant amount, which is intended to garner publicity for the case. It's not what they would eventually get. Public conversation begins and reputations are called into question, etc. It's a game until someone either caves or settles.

Even though I'm surprised he's not a light-skinned, well-muscled black guy, the texts are not salacious, but sounds like something between two people who are in the beginning stages of hooking up. They totally fucked. This Derek guy probably thought he'd trade his hole for a series deal. Things didn't work out, he's mad, and here we are.

by Anonymousreply 109June 18, 2025 5:34 PM

Not disputing what you wrote, but, at this point, we're far into at least a couple of decades of awareness being raised about workplace sexual harassment.

At this point it's just plain self-negligence not to be very careful about who it is you want to hook-up with and parameters.

At this point, if you're wealthy and you want to hook-up, due diligence requires you to be extremely cautious, even to the point of, in the workplace, never meeting with someone without a 3rd party present, and stop trying to lure with any seeming quid-pro-quo regarding employment.

Yes, it's come to that.

by Anonymousreply 110June 18, 2025 5:53 PM

r111, where, in my post at r110, do I say Tyler or anybody else who violates another in the way described in the suit shouldn't be held accountable?

That's right. I don't say that.

What I mean is bad faith acters (not performing actors, just humans on the make) are foreseeable. It's on you, wealthy person to proceed accordingly.

Brief story. Back in the early 2000s my supervisor directed me to join a meeting he had scheduled with a female. I sat in, took notes and all the while I was curious why he asked me. I asked him. Turns out, that woman he was meeting with had a reputation for flirting behavior.

He told me, he saw it himself with other people and he made up his mind right then and there he was never going to meet with her without a 3rd party present.

That's smart.

Tyler Perry is my type. Handsome face, beefy, tall, and probably a huge dick. This little piece of white ass should’ve been making gravy at the thought that TP would wipe that bussy.

by Anonymousreply 122June 18, 2025 7:09 PM

Mr. Perry just needs to pray the gay away and he won’t like mens no more.

by Anonymousreply 123June 18, 2025 7:29 PM

Has anyone asked Miss Lindsey to comment?

by Anonymousreply 124June 18, 2025 7:30 PM

So essentially his initial stupidity of living in a closet which he long since should have left and in fact is obvious to anybody who isn't a complete moron opens him up to additional stupidities, like hitting on clearly opportunistic actors who want to get just close enough, flirt just enough, and offer just enough sexually charged moments to get the roles they want and the blackmail to fulfill other ambitions.

Pathetic, actually, but step one is to get out of the fucking closet, even if it costs him some dingbats in churches. Fuck em, he's rich enough and famous enough, and he's got enough industry power to live honestly and it's truly pathetic that he simply chooses not to.

by Anonymousreply 125June 18, 2025 7:31 PM

[quote] He will never come out because he is a ✝️✝️CHRISTIAN✝️✝️ and his main audience is conservative black church ladies.

R122, maybe not.

This afternoon I went to a local thrift shop to donate clothes and household goods...china and what not. The store benefits a local organization that began as a housing and food provider, as well as health care provider to those suffering from HIV/Aids. It has now expanded to included more people "at risk." The man who manages the thrift store is a gay man. He's a tad effeminate, so even Helen Keller upthread would be hard pressed to identify him as anything but gay. While I was going back and forth from my car with the stuff, a trans woman came out from the back and offered to help. It was obvious she was trans, or at least a crossdresser.

All the volunteers at the shop are late middle-aged or elderly women, most of whom I recognized from the local Catholic parish, so I would say they are religious. And I bet that their familiarity with the charity and the LGBT people who run it and/or work there have made them much more accepting of LGBT persons.

So, I would suggest those Black church ladies who love Perry's films already know he's gay and accept it.

It's too bad Tyler Perry has been forced out of the closet by disgusting charges of abuse. He should have come out on his own terms long ago. That ship has sailed.

by Anonymousreply 133June 18, 2025 8:34 PM

Whether he comes out is on him. Everybody knows, he knows everybody knows, but like the choir director at a Baptist church, he's going to live his life and not say the words out loud. I don't think his being in the closet had anything to do with this lawsuit. If that were the case, the guy could have just blackmailed him about the gay thing, but he went a step further.

I'm not defending Tyler. He put himself in this position, but at the same time, famous people are going to have to take some risks with the people they bring into their lives. For all we know, Tyler thought he was making a connection with this guy.

However, I always side-eye gay men who try to play the straight woman games. I felt so used and dirty and violated, Queen, please.

by Anonymousreply 134June 18, 2025 8:41 PM

R131 Does anyone think he actually penetrated the woman who fathered his child?

by Anonymousreply 135June 18, 2025 8:43 PM

He belongs to that weird set of closeted celebs who father children with beards: Jeremy Renner; Johnny Galecki; John Legend; 50 Cent...

by Anonymousreply 136June 18, 2025 9:09 PM

This dude has no case. As annoying as Perry being in the closet is, when he flirts in the texts, Derek does not specifically rebuff him. I can understand why they seem to be willing to go to trial rather than settle. I wouldn't give that biotch a single dime.

by Anonymousreply 137June 18, 2025 9:18 PM

[quote] He will never come out because he is a ✝️✝️CHRISTIAN✝️✝️ and his main audience is conservative black church ladies.

The irony about all that is the black church KNOWS all out Mr. Perry (and all those like him). It's very much a 'don't ask, don't tell' situation in that world. Esp. when it comes to the black choir directors, or the deacons. There are books written about the 'open secrets' of how the closet cases hide themselves knowingly inside the church structure/culture, with most pretty much knowing, but as long as it's never brought to light, it's not an issue. Very similar in the music business regarding black R&B/soul singers, and esp. the hip-hop/rap artists. And you'll see a great deal of hyper-defensiveness from those protecting and defending these closets, because for them, culturally and historically, it's all framed through the lens of "privacy"...

by Anonymousreply 138June 18, 2025 9:21 PM

There are a lot of closeted white people who remain closeted for similar reasons, so let's not paint with such broad strokes.

by Anonymousreply 139June 18, 2025 9:33 PM

Absolutely r139.

by Anonymousreply 140June 18, 2025 9:42 PM

[quote]All the volunteers at the shop are late middle-aged or elderly women, most of whom I recognized from the local Catholic parish, so I would say they are religious.

Not necessarily. I know many, many churchgoers (not just Catholic) who don't call themselves 'religious'. They attend mass every weekend for their own reasons, but don't consider themselves 'religious'.

by Anonymousreply 141June 18, 2025 10:25 PM

R127 I said what I said. You wouldn’t want no witch hunt of you, if you were a rich celeb or wayward woman in 1400s Salem. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. With all the Z-list mens Perry been attached yo, I ain’t NEVER heard about no assault, rape or abuse, ONLY downlow activity. I bet this accuser is a junkie.

by Anonymousreply 142June 18, 2025 10:35 PM

Oh, yo.

by Anonymousreply 143June 18, 2025 10:41 PM

That is a very nice picture of Tyler actually. I’m gone now.

by Anonymousreply 144June 18, 2025 10:46 PM

[quote]Does anyone think he actually penetrated the woman who fathered his child?

The only thing he penetrated and made a deposit in was her bank account.

by Anonymousreply 145June 18, 2025 10:58 PM

He's mega rich and he hits on and may pressure dudes for sex. None of this should be surprising - that Perry is doing it (whether it's just obnoxious hitting on people or actual sexual assault), and that someone is seeking money from it (whether they were actually assaulted or not).

by Anonymousreply 146June 18, 2025 11:03 PM

Has Oprah commented on it ? I'm guessing 'not at this moment'. I'm sure she's gearing up for a major ABC prime-time special in November (ratings sweep) in which she'll interview him and he comes out as 'mostly straight but a little gay'.

by Anonymousreply 147June 18, 2025 11:19 PM

lol @ ratings sweep r147, i can totally imagine it

But really, I hardly think TP is going to suffer significant losses if he is officially outed by this. A lot of his shows, like Ruthless, are not exactly targeted at staunchly Christian viewers (unlike his early works). His audience has expanded vastly, and his influence, in black Hollywood especially, is pretty formidable.

Its going take way more than some floozy D list actor who willingly messed around with him to take the ship down.

by Anonymousreply 148June 18, 2025 11:49 PM

The NYT did a story on this and they pushed it out to my phone this afternoon. It's everywhere now, gurl.

by Anonymousreply 149June 18, 2025 11:55 PM

[quote] His audience has expanded vastly, and his influence, in black Hollywood especially, is pretty formidable.

You're awfully optimistic R148 and very generous as well. "Pretty formidable" in black Hollywood? Perry is seen as an artistic joke. He's not taken seriously by the people who really matter. For example, you will never see the likes of Denzel or Viola in one of his shitty movies.

I would say someone like Ryan Coogler is more formidable than Tyler. Ryan directed the Black Panther movies, and his recent box office success with the movie Sinners proved he can be successful outside of Marvel. Ryan has the box office, and he's taken seriously. Tyler has the box office, but he's hardly seen as creative or original, just one step above Tubi. If he goes down, he's unlikely to get back up.

by Anonymousreply 150June 19, 2025 12:09 AM

Stay tuned....This could only be the beginning....

by Anonymousreply 151June 19, 2025 12:14 AM

Tyler's movies are not good, but I will admit to laughing at some of the non-preachy Madea stuff. He seems to know who his audience is and they keep coming back. Black people love soap operas and that is, mainly, what his material is. It's soapy. He's like Ryan Murphy without the writers' room.

by Anonymousreply 152June 19, 2025 12:16 AM

[quote]If he goes down

by Anonymousreply 153June 19, 2025 12:17 AM

r150 oh if only this were true. Viola Davis has already been in a Tyler Perry movie! And wore a bad wig throughout!🤣

Commercially, Perry has a way wider reach than Coogler. He's been in the business for much longer and has done TV, movies and stage. I never said he was better artistically.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 154June 19, 2025 12:23 AM

Tyler is a decent actor outside of his own work. I thought he was good in Gone Girl as Ben Affleck’s lawyer.

[quote] For example, you will never see the likes of Denzel or Viola in one of his shitty movies.

Viola was in “Madea Goes to Jail.” Angela Bassett was in “Meet the Browns.” Alfre Woodard was in “ The Family That Preys.”

There are many celebrated black actresses that were in his films.

by Anonymousreply 155June 19, 2025 12:24 AM

R154 right 😂 Many on DL just assume. Plylicia Rashad too. Lynn Whitfield. Frankie Faison. Taraji P Henson. And the most acclaimed black actresses of all time Cicely Tyson and Angela Bassett.

by Anonymousreply 156June 19, 2025 12:28 AM

R155 The thing is he isn’t a talented screenwriter, the storylines are so cliched. It really comes across in the dramatic films because you need a believable pathos. Its just all so very hackneyed.

He IS a talented actor and content creator. His portrayal of Madea is brilliant and if the films weren’t so bad maybe would have gotten, maybe not Oscars but Golden Globe and SAG nominations. He is also a pretty damn good dramaric actor from what we’ve seen in Gone Girl and Alex Cross. He has vision. He needs better writers.

by Anonymousreply 157June 19, 2025 12:32 AM

R154 I stand corrected. Viola did one movie a long time ago before her Oscar win. If Tyler tried to call her now she would let it go go voicemail. I was correct about Denzel however and I feel confident that he would never lower himself. Someone like Taraji P Henson needs a Tyler Perry.

I don't see how you can say Tyler has more reach than Ryan when Ryan's Black Panther movies have made billions around the world and earned Angela Bassett an Oscar nomination. Tyler's reach has never been that wide. His films nor the actors in them will never be sitting at the Oscars. He's also tried to stiff young black screenwriter in the past for being Union. Like I said he's joke all you have to is look at how black people on social media are reacting to this lawsuit. If he's seen as a predator he's done.

by Anonymousreply 158June 19, 2025 12:32 AM

R158 If you don’t understand that Ryan Coogler was backed by not only the biggest film company in the world but also the biggest media conglomerate, perhaps even commercial entity in all the world. Perry must use them(or one of the big studios) for distribution and he must use them btw. He produced all that shit on his own. He garnered a way bigger share of his content’s revenue than Coogler did on any Disney film. Sinners is a different story. And was a game changer. But that shit just happened.

by Anonymousreply 159June 19, 2025 12:44 AM

Where there is one, there will be two. Where there is two there will be four. Where there is four there will be eight. Etc Etc.

R161 you go to rehab you lunatic. You been lying and clocking me for 3 years. Get spiritual help.

by Anonymousreply 162June 19, 2025 12:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 163June 19, 2025 12:57 AM

R162 Ryan also directed all three of the very successful Creed films which co-stared Sylvester Stallone. I already told your stupid ass that Ryan has suscess outside of Marvel and Disney in addition to the success of Sinners. You're so desperate to be a groupie for Tyler Perry of all people that you ignore all facts. You need to seek help

by Anonymousreply 164June 19, 2025 1:01 AM

^Ryan co-produced Creed 3 while Michael B Jordan directed.

by Anonymousreply 165June 19, 2025 1:03 AM

Madea films really vary. Some are pretty terrible; others are decent and really funny and.

by Anonymousreply 166June 19, 2025 1:06 AM

[quote]You wouldn’t want no witch hunt of you, if you were a rich celeb or wayward woman in 1400s Salem.

If you were a wayward woman in 1400s Salem, you would be a member of the Naumkeg or Pawtucket people, members of the local Massachusett tribe. Those women accused of being witches weren't around until the late 1600s Salem, much of which is now Danvers Massachusetts.

by Anonymousreply 167June 19, 2025 1:09 AM

3 or 4 years ago I mentioned to a Black Gay friend (who resides in Atlanta) that Tyler Perry must hire the most attractive Black Men he can find for his productions because 1) he's screwing them or 2) he wants to screw them.

Said friend quickly shot back "Nonsense! EVERYONE knows that Tyler LOVES White twinks/power bottoms." I laughed.

At the time I couldn't envision it. Now it all makes sense.......

by Anonymousreply 168June 19, 2025 1:15 AM

R167- I had a friend in high school he traced his ancestry back to 1639 in Massachusetts. He told me also told me that one of his ancestors was burned at the stake as a Witch during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692/93.

by Anonymousreply 169June 19, 2025 1:20 AM

R154- Has Viola ever blamed White people for being forced to wear that BAD wig?

Well, I never in all my life!

by Anonymousreply 177June 19, 2025 1:52 AM

R172 I've wondered that as well, but I also think Tyler is selective and more likely to prey on somebody he can with no name or clout in the industry like a Derek Dixon type. I believe Shemar was already a regular on Criminal Minds at the time of that film.

by Anonymousreply 178June 19, 2025 1:57 AM

R171 Mafucker was going for early aughts urban realness. Looks like somebody put a wig on a black human muppet baby. 😂

by Anonymousreply 179June 19, 2025 1:57 AM

^I meant to say somebody he can dominate

by Anonymousreply 180June 19, 2025 1:58 AM

R172 I wonder who is Shemar's type. I don't doubt for a second that he "walks on the wild side" despite finally having a child. I have never seen him linked to any specific guy either. I am sure Tyler is NOT his type. Anything Shemar would have done with Tyler would have been purely transactional.

by Anonymousreply 181June 19, 2025 2:20 AM

Goodness asking Denzel is like asking Tom Cruise to star in a Sandler movie. But honestly he might, he was in Austin Powers and Tropic Thunder.

So even big stars can poke fun at themselves. Larry the Cable Guy was in a Madea movie and some Irish stars. All sorts of people. Perry's movies are a wildcard. The jail one was very dramatic and others are just bad. Like the Halloween one. Perry needs better writers that can weave better stories. I love them though. Black comedies are full of life.

by Anonymousreply 182June 19, 2025 2:35 AM

Tyler Perry in

Madea's Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

by Anonymousreply 183June 19, 2025 2:39 AM

That would totally work r183. Madea just can't keep her hands off the local "talent."

by Anonymousreply 195June 19, 2025 4:27 PM

R194 R195 I would be shocked if he wasn't into guys and I do remember the photos of him at a nude beach in Hawaii many years ago. I just don't recall him being linked to any specific guy. I have no idea if he has a type. Is he into white guys, twinks, bears ??

[quote] No one is disputing this, but isn't the point, if being gay and out is such a shangri-la for white people, then why are so many closeted?

It is the point. It relates to Tyler Perry, who he is and his background/demographic (as discussed earlier in the thread).

If anything "isn't the point", it's straw man arguments like this - " if being gay and out is such a shangri-la for white people, then why are so many closeted" - nobody was talking about white folks, as it has nothing to do with the subject matter.
