EXCELLENT!!!

by Anonymousreply 1June 17, 2025 7:21 PM

[quote]This is the abuse that Gym Jordan helped cover up

Axios doesn't mention him.

by Anonymousreply 2June 17, 2025 7:27 PM

The title of the doc is “Surviving Ohio State”, for anyone searching for it.

by Anonymousreply 3June 17, 2025 7:49 PM

George Clooney produced this

by Anonymousreply 4June 17, 2025 8:22 PM

I was molested.

by Anonymousreply 5June 17, 2025 9:00 PM

R2 Other articles about the documentary mention Gymmie Boy Jordan.

by Anonymousreply 6June 17, 2025 11:08 PM

Will it open with an acknowledgement the sexual abuse took place on the sacred lands of the Shawnee, Miami, Wyandot, and Delaware peoples?

by Anonymousreply 7June 17, 2025 11:12 PM

Jim Jordan? Oh yes- he was the athletic supporter.

by Anonymousreply 8June 17, 2025 11:16 PM

That Jordan has been very quiet in the past many months.

by Anonymousreply 9June 17, 2025 11:18 PM

R2, From the article: “Zoom in: "Surviving Ohio State" spends time highlighting U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Urbana), an assistant wrestling coach during Strauss's tenure. Jordan has denied knowing about the abuse.”

by Anonymousreply 10June 18, 2025 12:30 AM

I'm watching the documentary right now. Several athletes and even a referee clearly say they told Gym Jordan about the abuse and he just brushed it off. "That's just doc!"

by Anonymousreply 11June 18, 2025 1:57 AM

Was it "abuse, abuse"

by Anonymousreply 12June 18, 2025 2:03 AM

Imagine: a close ally of pathological liar Donald Trump is a pathological liar himself (Jordan).

Who would have thought?

by Anonymousreply 13June 18, 2025 2:53 AM

Just finished the documentary. It's heartbreaking. Fuck Gym Jordan and Ohio State

by Anonymousreply 14June 18, 2025 3:14 AM

I have a friend who is a victim and former wrestler. It’s so fucked up because if the doctor didn’t clear you to play, it could affect your scholarship. Jim Jordan is evil for looking the other way.

by Anonymousreply 15June 18, 2025 3:44 AM

No wonder we haven't heard from Jimpanze lately; he's been keeping a low profile knowing "Surviving Ohio State's" broadcast was imminent.

Oy.

by Anonymousreply 16June 18, 2025 4:09 AM

BASTARD!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 17June 18, 2025 6:15 AM

Dr. Strauss took pictures of Gym doing various wrestling poses...they showed the pictures in the documentary

by Anonymousreply 18June 18, 2025 3:20 PM

just watched it. it's very good. Several of the victims said that Jim Jordan knew what was going on because they talked to him directly about it.

by Anonymousreply 19June 18, 2025 4:14 PM

I never heard or saw anything!

by Anonymousreply 20June 18, 2025 4:19 PM

Sounds hot! What are the qualifications to become a wrestling coach?

by Anonymousreply 21June 18, 2025 4:22 PM

These were big, strapping athletes. Grown-ass men. And you just lay there and let someone fondle your junk?

It didn't seem to bother them until the checks were being cut, then they burst into tears and curled-up in a fetal position.

by Anonymousreply 22June 18, 2025 4:36 PM

R22 clearly didn't watch the documentary

BTW, at least one of the men was raped after being drugged

by Anonymousreply 23June 18, 2025 4:36 PM

Has Nancy Mace commented on the documentary on behalf of her good pal Jim Jordan?

by Anonymousreply 24June 18, 2025 7:20 PM

The local reporter who leads off seems like an idiot. Granted I've worked in academia and an Ohio native who never thought much about Ohio State.

by Anonymousreply 25June 18, 2025 9:15 PM

The first formal complaint against Strausswas made by a non-athlete, who was gay.

by Anonymousreply 26June 18, 2025 10:31 PM

Dan Ritchie, one of the main wrestlers in it, was perfection in his youth. There are some of his black-and-white modeling shots where he looks like a more athletic Joe Dallesandro.

The one coach who tried to make a fuss at the time was also the only woman coach in the whole athletic department.

by Anonymousreply 27June 19, 2025 4:10 AM

Hopefully NBC or CNN has Miss Lindsey on this weekend to weigh in on this travesty perpetuated by liberals and the deep state 🙄

by Anonymousreply 28June 19, 2025 4:32 AM

R22 You don't know what you're talking about. Watch the documentary.

by Anonymousreply 29June 19, 2025 5:30 AM

He had his own locker in the wrestling locker room, which was right by Gym Jordan's locker. But Gym apparently never noticed him ogling all the guys...

by Anonymousreply 30June 19, 2025 5:56 AM

And Gym apparently never noticed the good doctor Strauss taking numerous showers while sporting a full erection as he ogled all the guys.

I wonder if Dr. Strauss was a DLer when he walked amongst us.

by Anonymousreply 31June 19, 2025 11:41 AM

R31: He was too busy shuttling among locker rooms for DL.

by Anonymousreply 32June 19, 2025 12:08 PM

Like Joe Paterno, I don't notice a lot of things!

by Anonymousreply 33June 19, 2025 3:24 PM

Joe Paterno's fall from grace was greater than anything Gym Jordan could experience because he had given back to the university in ways that Jordan hadn't, such as endowing faculty chairs.

by Anonymousreply 34June 19, 2025 3:29 PM

If there's anything abundantly clear from this debacle is that Gym Jordan is a complete, total asshole only interested in protecting himself and his tarnished legacy.

But we already knew that, didn't we.

by Anonymousreply 35June 19, 2025 3:34 PM

"Watch the documentary"

There are documentaries which tell the facts, the truth. Then there are others which have an agenda: biased, one-sided.

by Anonymousreply 36June 19, 2025 3:54 PM

R35 It's astonishing that Jordan is getting away with this. Clearly he knew what Straus was doing and didn't challenge it.

The documentary does a good job of explaining how these big, strong guys "let" this abuse happen. It's a reminder that sexual abuse isn't about sex, it's about power. And one in power abusing the one who is without power.

by Anonymousreply 37June 19, 2025 4:12 PM

R36, then read the 100+ page report that Ohio State commissioned. It's even more damning.

by Anonymousreply 38June 19, 2025 4:28 PM

The doc generally is good. The reporter is annoying at the start and seems naive for a journo, but she gets better along the way. We don't get any sense of how these guys (who are part of the suit) are doing or what they're doing now, but that may to protect them from all the hate that's been directed them in the past. One of them had a career as an MMA fighter and is a public figure, but the others mostly aren't except for one who is a lawyer. Some important details are missing---one victim who is a lawyer is part of the litigation and the non-jock whistleblower is gay and ex-military. Strauss' family wouldn't comment on the record, but he has at least one kid and his wife might still be alive. It's difficult to Google about his death--there must be a techie in the family who has figured out how to scrub it. His FindaGrave makes no mention of the allegations against him.

by Anonymousreply 39June 19, 2025 4:41 PM

[quote]Hopefully NBC or CNN has Miss Lindsey on this weekend

It depends on which one has a shrimp platter. If both do, I can manage that.

by Anonymousreply 40June 19, 2025 4:51 PM

Fuck Paterno's endowing faculty chairs. I'd rather check out the endowments of hot college wrestlers.

by Anonymousreply 41June 19, 2025 5:07 PM

LoL, r36, you aren't fooling anybody.

by Anonymousreply 42June 19, 2025 5:15 PM

I do not doubt the testimonies of the abused athletes, and I realize Strauss's revolting behavior went on for decades. But in the need to compress time, the documentary makes it seem like Strauss did nothing but examinations, malinger in a variety of showers and locker rooms and attend matches, games, etc. I believe he was also a professor (he was certainly given professor emeritus status) -- did he not teach? If so, when in the course of his busy, abusive day did he have classes and hand out grades? Also, when did he conduct and write his research on steroids, etc.? I don't need an added half hour on his actual academic career, but five minutes would have sufficed. And, per R39, he had a wife and child (unmentioned in the film, I believe), so there was a family life he also had to attend to when not patting wrestling referees on the ass in the shower. The doc made it appear as if Strauss never left the athletics building(s).

I had to laugh at Newscaster Lady who just could not turn off her On-Air Broadcaster Voice. And the lights going off, stool rolling forward, pen light coming on got *very* repetitive. We get it already. A good doc that with a few tweaks and minor additions could have been better. Also: Fuck you, Jim Jordan and Russ Whoever.

by Anonymousreply 43June 19, 2025 6:28 PM

I recall reading an article where Richard Strauss's son was interviewed but I can't find it.

Strauss was married when he first got the job at Ohio State but I think his wife left him sometime in the 80s (can you blame her?)

He was a Navy doctor before he started working for Ohio State. I wonder how many sailors he touched

by Anonymousreply 44June 19, 2025 6:56 PM

He was a team physician for multiple sports. They later moved some of his responsibility to the student health center. A role like his would have meant that he didn't teach and he probably did not see patients in the hospital. He might have given grand rounds lectures once in a while and may have been invited to speak elsewhere but I doubt that he much of a teaching load. Being a team doctor for multiple teams would have taken up most of his time and I'd imagine he traveled with some of the teams. It appears that he did not do any clinical training (no mention of interns or residents). His research was mostly summarizing the work of other people, collaborating on work initiated and done by others or doing very small studies (I looked up his publications). He also did some journal editing, although that is usually expected to be voluntary and not compensated. Given the prestige and importance of sports at OSU. He probably had few distractions from his predatory behavior.

by Anonymousreply 45June 19, 2025 6:57 PM

Thanks, R45!

by Anonymousreply 46June 19, 2025 7:05 PM

I'm certain focusing on his many responsibilities outside of his predatory behavior would have given comfort to his victims as they were forced into unwarranted surprise anal.

by Anonymousreply 47June 19, 2025 7:06 PM

Students would go to him with something like a strained shoulder and he would give them a dick exam and a ball juggle.

Every time.

by Anonymousreply 48June 19, 2025 7:09 PM

I hope this destroys Gym Jordan.

by Anonymousreply 49June 19, 2025 9:14 PM

I don't understand how the doctor's gig wasn't up after he grabbed the wrestling referee's ass in the shower.

by Anonymousreply 50June 19, 2025 9:25 PM

When it didn't go well, he probably played it off as - it was just a prank - aren't I funny haha

by Anonymousreply 51June 19, 2025 10:21 PM

"I hope this destroys Gym Jordan."

Don't hold your breath. Republicans are impervious to and immune from sex scandals.

And if you want to get to the heart of the matter, Trump could not have pulled off 1/6/21 without Congressional help, and you can bet your last dollar that Gym Jordan was behind it every step of the way And neither Trump nor Jordan has been held accountable for squat shit.

by Anonymousreply 52June 19, 2025 10:32 PM

Democrats should find some excuse to show snippets of this in House hearings. After all, Cro-Marge showed Hunter's cock pix, so anything goes.

by Anonymousreply 53June 19, 2025 11:24 PM

They should play the clip of the referee stating that he told Gym about Dr. Strauss and Gym just laughing it off

Just play that clip in a continuous loop

by Anonymousreply 54June 19, 2025 11:38 PM

Jim/Gym was in a couple of those rooms too. That was never mentioned. American Congress Hero? I think not. He had a "type" too.

by Anonymousreply 55June 20, 2025 12:18 AM

Jimmy Jordan was the focus of the last third of the movie. The cunt does not come off well.

by Anonymousreply 56June 20, 2025 12:27 AM

"Students would go to him with something like a strained shoulder and he would give them a dick exam and a ball juggle. Every time"

It's possible that some went for the free tug. There's all kinds of stories here. Of course when they're passing checks out, everybody was now brutally sodomized.

I mean, how do you prove someone touched your taint 40 years ago?

by Anonymousreply 57June 20, 2025 12:54 AM

R56, not well at all!

by Anonymousreply 58June 20, 2025 1:22 AM

Really? The creepy abusing doctor is getting defended here? Really???

by Anonymousreply 59June 20, 2025 1:22 AM

Oh, don't I know all about those kinds of stories. I was just offering some free tugs too. My situations got completely overblown as well.

by Anonymousreply 60June 20, 2025 1:23 AM

R57, you think good-looking athletes can't get someone to touch their dicks besides a pervy old doctor?

You think the HUNDREDS of victims all conspired together to make up a story?

by Anonymousreply 61June 20, 2025 2:31 AM

Jim was the host of the sauna "contests" with the wrestlers. He liked being around the hot jocks in various forms of undress as well.

by Anonymousreply 62June 20, 2025 2:44 AM

I remember the 4th of July weekend that this story broke nationally, and Jordan was blindsided by the press at some Independence Day event. He was terrified, and could barely speak to answer questions about the allegations. It was so satisfying to see terror in his eyes, of this ordinarily smug cocky piece of shit. He was so obviously complicit. I hope they captured the footage of that for the documentary. He deserves expulsion at the very least.

by Anonymousreply 63June 22, 2025 10:10 AM

R22 wants to free Gym Jordan-he’s also an athletic supporter.

by Anonymousreply 64June 24, 2025 9:55 AM

Call me crazy but I'd love to get "molested" for $250k if all that entails is some dude shining a flashlight on my peen as he breathes on it and maybe tugs on my balls a bit. Where do I sign up for that deal!? Hell I'll do it $500.

by Anonymousreply 65June 24, 2025 10:09 AM

R2: The guys who spoke out turned down the checks knowing it was a financial gamble. They were unworldly small town boys who needed their scholarships and some of them sacrificed the scholarships because they didn't want to deal with the abuse anymore.

by Anonymousreply 66June 24, 2025 11:05 AM

I watched the doc and I sympathize with these men but JFC even when I was 19 years old if some disgusting old troll started playing with my dick I would've kicked him in the balls.

by Anonymousreply 67June 24, 2025 5:09 PM

[quote]It's possible that some went for the free tug. There's all kinds of stories here. Of course when they're passing checks out, everybody was now brutally sodomized.

Have you seen pics of this doctor? Nobody was going to him just to get off. He was a gross old troll.

by Anonymousreply 68June 24, 2025 5:22 PM

I don't normally throw out accusations of being gay to every politician or actor unlike others on this board, BUT there was always something about tiny buff Jim Jordan.

I honestly think for men of the previous generations, wrestling had an appeal for those with homoerotic tendencies. But it can be easily dismissed because it's so manly and aggressive.

Separately, I also think it attracts a type of man with a complex and something to prove regardless of sexuality. For those who do have homoerotic desires, it's a way to both get some man-grab but also be able to intimidate others who may question them - "I'll fucking knock you down!".

by Anonymousreply 69June 24, 2025 5:44 PM

I watched the documentary. It's very clear that when a man holds the power to take you off the team and destroy your ride( and others in charge ignore any claims of abuse), then you have no choice but to be felt up, fondled, and feel his breath on your balls. I am 18 year old from some Ohio farm. This is my big chance on a college team. The hopes of my family are on my shoulders. If the doctor is in charge were do I go? That the problem with molesters - it's their frat coaches, and alumni who turned a blind eye. And some of the alumni were probably molested by him too.

As for Jim Jordan krama will decide his downfall. I think the reason that a gay man reported it first was because he wasn't scared of being exposed as a fag. A fag can still be raped.

by Anonymousreply 70June 24, 2025 7:56 PM

Several of the guys still live in Ohio. If one of them lives in Jordan's district, he should run against him.

by Anonymousreply 71June 24, 2025 9:11 PM

Despite the seriousness of this doc, I did chuckle at the flabby, stretch-marked or thin guys they had doing the re-enactments. None of those bodies looked like the college wrestlers we see on the archival videos. However, I’m sure it would have been hard to find anyone built like that who’d be willing to take part in this.

by Anonymousreply 72June 25, 2025 2:43 AM

R52.So true was your reply. Could tragically but easily be the epitaph on the upcoming gravestone of the United States of America.

by Anonymousreply 73June 25, 2025 4:42 AM

R69, if you weren't a student athlete being molested by the team doctor...how do you know what you would do in that situation?

by Anonymousreply 74June 25, 2025 5:17 AM

Haven't watched this yet, so was Dr. Perv into gratuitous anal or rectal exams, or did he focus largely on adolescent genitalia?

by Anonymousreply 75June 25, 2025 6:09 AM

hard to watch

by Anonymousreply 76June 25, 2025 8:32 PM

I understand that as a gay man I'm not going to be as completely freaked out when someone in the shower next to me starts stroking off, or even compliments me on my body and grabs my ass, as perhaps a straight guy might be. But to see the wrestling referee actually tear up when recounting this story, something that happened to him decades ago, when he was a full-fledged adult, and it apparently did not result in further trauma, I have to admit I'm a bit confused. Obviously it affected him deeply in some way. Not something I would expect. Was he just empathizing with the wrestlers, it didn't seem like it?

by Anonymousreply 77June 27, 2025 6:01 AM

It was...GAY PANIC!

by Anonymousreply 78June 27, 2025 12:33 PM

Good post, r77. That's something that we as gay men need to remind ourselves of, I have to do it when I see stories like this. As a gay man, another guy jerking off in the locker room, telling me I have a nice dick, ogling my body etc. is not that big of a deal. I just don't care and I go on with my day. What we often don't realize is that straight men are very, VERY uncomfortable when this happens to them and they really don't know how to handle it. It's seems silly to us, but to them it's a big violation.

I'm one of many gay men who has to remind myself that things are very different re: gay men and straight men.

by Anonymousreply 79June 27, 2025 1:25 PM

Referee's reaction to the predatory behavior in the shower looked a lot like there's more to the story, perhaps triggering PTSD from childhood sexual abuse.

by Anonymousreply 80June 27, 2025 1:41 PM

Julie was also experiencing the success of

Doctor Zhivago › Release date December 31, 1965

for most film goers that's would have been the first film they would have seen her in

Catherine Deneuve's first big success was in the 1964 film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, a musical directed by Jacques Demy. (wiki)

by Anonymousreply 81June 27, 2025 2:32 PM

^^ wrong thread

by Anonymousreply 82June 27, 2025 2:38 PM

Jim Jordan's big mouth hasn't been heard from in a while.

by Anonymousreply 83June 27, 2025 5:46 PM

yes, I was thinking the same thing R83

by Anonymousreply 84June 27, 2025 6:43 PM

this is long.... but interesting ....

The Ariel Helwani Show: Former Ohio State wrestlers Mark Coleman and Mike DiSabato join in-studio to discuss the new documentary "Surviving Ohio State," which details the horrific trauma Dr. Richard Strauss inflicted upon more than a thousand collegiate athletes.

by Anonymousreply 85June 27, 2025 8:45 PM

Thanks r85. I'll watch later.

by Anonymousreply 86June 27, 2025 8:59 PM

R79: This is an authority figure, a trollish looking guy. One of his accusers is a gay guy. There's nothing hot or flattering here.

by Anonymousreply 87June 27, 2025 10:17 PM

This was like 1980s. Who cares?

by Anonymousreply 88June 27, 2025 10:29 PM

It continued after the 80s. This was 20+ years during which no action was taken.

The Youtube interview is interesting, although Helwani seems like a dickish interviewer. I didn't realize that U of M had a similar scandal in the football program. They don't seem to have fought the accusers like OSU did. U of M also recently shitcanned a professor who was harassing his male students.

by Anonymousreply 89June 27, 2025 10:50 PM

[quote][R79]: This is an authority figure, a trollish looking guy. One of his accusers is a gay guy. There's nothing hot or flattering here.

That's not at all what I said. It doesn't matter if the guy is hot or not, as a gay man it doesn't bother me.

by Anonymousreply 90June 27, 2025 11:46 PM

[quote] It's seems silly to us, but to them it's a big violation.

And yet our Jimmy Jordan was just so blasé when it came to the Doctor's many violations. What can we read into that?

by Anonymousreply 91June 28, 2025 4:19 AM

what is a bit hilarious for the Data lounger is that the wrestling practices were open viewing to anybody with a University ID

and they became quite cruisey apparently

by Anonymousreply 92June 28, 2025 5:17 PM

^ They didn't really talk about this in the documentary but the report that Ohio State did made it clear that Hellickson let male professors use the wrestling locker rooms where they could shower with and ogle the wrestlers

by Anonymousreply 93June 28, 2025 5:59 PM

Gym will FINALLY be questioned under oath about the scandal

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 94July 18, 2025 6:37 PM

Oath or no, does anyone seriously expect Gym Jordan to tell the truth?

by Anonymousreply 95July 18, 2025 6:55 PM

Jordan will say he can’t recall and that will be that. That’s one thing that benefits people who testify in these kinds of cases that are brought decades late, they can plausibly claim not to remember.

by Anonymousreply 96July 18, 2025 7:27 PM

[quote] Ohio State did made it clear that Hellickson let male professors use the wrestling locker rooms where they could shower with and ogle the wrestlers

It would be far less intrusive and less unsettling to have two-way mirrors for ogling instead of allowing people to be in the locker room or shower with the athletes.

by Anonymousreply 97July 18, 2025 7:31 PM

Under Oath means nothing to Trump criminals. It’s like when Snow White sat on Pinocchio’s nose and screamed ‘’Lie Lie Lie’’

by Anonymousreply 98July 19, 2025 9:14 PM

I briefly dated a guy in the 90s who said as a student alumni he still worked-out at Larkins Hall- even though he was in his 30s by then. He was such a skeevy ho I can totally imagine him briefly exercising, then spending the bulk of the time showering and ogling young men.

I guess as

by Anonymousreply 99July 20, 2025 3:58 AM

Meidas Touch posted a good interview with one of the DiSabato brothers, sharing some details that I didn't remember from the film. Apparently, the good Doctor also performed routine unnecessary prostate and rectal exams on the wrestlers. His abuse and gawking was so widespread among sports teams that he would end up showering 6 or 7 times a day to be with the various players. Really hard to imagine how he got away with it for so long.

Unfortunately, Jordan's deposition isn't likely to be made public anytime soon.
