How do you find archived articles that aren’t paywalled?

Sometimes I can read a New York Times article in incognito mode - today I can’t : ( This is very bad for my mental education and I am upset. As you can well imagine.

How do you search for accessible, archived versions - like of THIS (in which a new condo buyer found out something secret about his hidden ceiling.)

Were there cave painting under there? I don’t know yet. Perhaps one of you strong men can help me? (I actually said that to a group of straight men in the supermarket last week.)
