In the heyday of tv evangelists one guy really stood out. Swaggart and Baker were obvious stupid snake oil salesmen, both of them succumbing to sex scandals as these types so often do.

But this guy was something else. You could find him all night long glaring into the camera and haranguing viewers for not knowing shit about Christian doctrine.. He had a Ph.D from Stanford, explained Greek and Latin terms, sneered how Catholics were refuting scripture by claiming 'faith and good works' are both required. His spittle flew as Scott screamed at us, 'good works will get you nothing'!! FAITH alone is what Jesus commands. He didn't beg for money constantly. He often wore hats while lecturing viewers, beanies, sombreros, cowboy hats. During the Gulf War he urged the U.S. to nuke Iran.

He was divorced but never had a personal scandal, sexual or otherwise. What can I say, he was great entertainment. Apparently Robin Williams caricatured him on SNL but I couldn't find it.
