The Room

Any fans of The Room? I am going to a showing in two weeks. I have waited for this moment for almost twenty years!

I found it bad, but more boring than laughable.

I first saw it when “Adult Swim” aired it on April Fools Day in 2009. That may have been their first airing of it. I was like, “What the hell is this?”

One of the funniest things about it to me is everybody commenting on how hot and beautiful Lisa looks and she’s really, really not.

“I definitely have breast cancer!”

I made an involuntary disgusted noise when the camera cut to Tommy's back and ass during the sex scene. So flabby and unflattering.

Take her to... THE ROOM

Oh no! Not the room!

by Anonymousreply 5June 16, 2025 2:41 AM

Oh hi Mark!

by Anonymousreply 6June 16, 2025 2:43 AM

Never saw it. But I liked "Room".

Not streaming. I cannot find this anywhere.

Does Greg Sestero get his knob out?

by Anonymousreply 9June 16, 2025 12:40 PM

It is really boring, R1. It’s the criticisms that make it so hilarious. If I were still on Twitter, I‘d try and get a live tweet going because that’s when it’s the most fun.

Here it is, r8. Parts of it are really boring-- the fun is in the bad scenes and non sequiturs. The Wikipedia article does a good job of explaining it.

I've never seen it and don't plan to, but I've never heard why it was called "The Room." What is "The Room" and how does it figure into the plot? Why is it called that?

by Anonymousreply 12June 16, 2025 2:38 PM

I don’t think anybody really knows, R12.

by Anonymousreply 13June 16, 2025 3:21 PM

Including Wiseau.

by Anonymousreply 14June 16, 2025 3:32 PM

According to Wikipedia, Wiseau said it refers to the duality of a room. Good and bad things happen there.

It was a letdown. I only watched it out of curiosity after seeing The Disaster Artist, hoping to witness how bad it really was — but like many have said, it’s just dull and doesn’t live up to the “so-bad-it’s-good” reputation.

I watched it after the internet turned it into a meme, and I also found it really boring and aimless. The film has no momentum at all, with just the bare minimum of a plot; most of the time, it feels like a collection of scenes that loosely relate to each other, featuring the same actors.

What made it an internet meme is the bizarre dialog.
