MAGAtry is trying so hard to paint this guy as liberal... I wonder how they'll spin this?
"He's so wacky, he could only be a liberal!"
"It's all an act to make us think he's MAGA, but he's really a lib in wolves' clothing!"
"Fake news! AI!"

R13, agreed. I feel like my 80s Catholic programming made me far superior to the weird protestant flavors and they weren't even that far gone yet.

by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 15, 2025 6:34 PM |
80s Catholic programming must have been better, having predated everyone on the planet knowing about their epidemic of child rape. Good for you!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 15, 2025 6:53 PM |
Plenty of Protestant child raping clergy too. Given t hat so much of his story seems made-up, I wouldn't be surprised if he had been diddling Hope, Faith & Grace (his daughters). Regardless, I'm guessing his wife is as clueless as she is religious.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 15, 2025 11:57 PM |
Catholic child rape must be better than Protestant child rape though. Much classier to have bishops doing the coverups, being able to transfer priests to new parishes smoothly and easily. The Protestants were just sort of freelance kid fuckers in comparison.

Sadly, American Christianity is a huge part of why this country is in this mess. Evangelicals are such thoroughly nasty, unreasonable people.

One of his roommates told a local newspaper that he not only voted for Trump but had become a big MAGA supporter.

100% R24. Couldn't agree with you more and I was coming here to post about the same issue.
According to various studies; "around one-third of Americans - 90 to100 million" are Evangelical Christians. They think they are better than the rest of us and have a right to judge other people who are not them and have a right to restrict and control other Americans. They specifically hate LGBT people - especially gay males and actively work against us at all levels of government and society. They are also overwhelmingly racist (they are generally white supremacists) , misogynistic, anti-education, anti-science, anti-fact and anti-everything which they don't believe in. They have taken hatred to new levels and they are emboldened in the current political climate. Their churches have become political institutions over the past couple of decades and their preachers and church officials constantly peddle a political doctrine and demand these people vote in a certain way.
Evangelical Christians are a very serious problem for the advancement and betterment of ALL Americans and of American society and 95% of them vote for Trump.
We've got to start talking about them more.

>vangelicals are fake Christians. not a single one is a true believer. This souchebag never read the Bibler. What kind of grift did he engage in to get to the Congo, I wonder.

R24 R27 There will be a special name for this heretical Christianity in the future (assuming there is a future, and A.I. doesn't kill us). There have been many horrendous examples of Christianity gone wrong - the Crusades, the anti-Catholic violence in 16th century England, the Inquisition, the Troubles in Ireland. Heretical cults, etc. And the evangelical growth in the US in the last 40-50 years is certainly one of the most troubling perversions of Christianity. I loathe seeing them called "American Christians" as though all American Christians were evangelicals. Yes, mainstream churches are hurting for attendance... but there is still a mainstream and a group of heretical offshoots.
R28 The Supreme Court has been taken over not by evangelicals, but by Right Wing Roman Catholics. Opus Dei, occult and crazy catholics. There is some commonality with evangelicals, but also plenty of difference.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 16, 2025 2:51 AM |
R32: The growth of the Evangelicals was always overstated and their declining number over the last 30 years was ignored by the media. The real difference is the declining numbers of "Mainline" Protestants and the increasing numbers of unaffiliateds, as well as agnostics and atheists.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 16, 2025 2:28 PM |
R31 That's a gross overstatement. But I believe most of them are hypocrites and do not follow the teaching of Jesus.
