Judith Sheindlin, aka Judge Judy, has just lowered the price of her New York City penthouse.
Sheindlin listed her Manhattan home in May 2024 for $9.5 million, but now after a $1 million price cut on Monday, the apartment is asking $8.5 million—the same price she paid for it in 2013, records show.
Last year, Sheindlin, 82—who in addition to hosting her eponymous courtroom reality show for 25 seasons was formerly a prosecutor then a judge in New York City—said in a statement that she and her husband, Judge Jerry Sheindlin, are selling the home “to simplify.”
The penthouse is spread across two levels of a co-op in Sutton Place, a small but affluent enclave in Midtown Manhattan that runs from East 53rd to East 59th streets between First Avenue and the East River.
“Sutton Place has long been recognized as one of Manhattan’s toniest enclaves and an oasis from the chaos typically associated with city living. This sprawling penthouse embodies the quintessence of the neighborhood,” listing agents Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon of Compass said in a shared statement.
A semi-private elevator landing leads into the penthouse’s upper floor, which houses the living room, kitchen, dining room and a wood-paneled library. A terrace wraps around on three sides, offering plenty of al fresco dining and living space as well as river and city views.
“Its timeless design bucks trends in favor of style, and this penthouse has style in spades,” Postilio told Mansion Global last year.
A curved staircase, which still has its original wrought-iron balustrade, leads down to the apartment’s lower level, where all four bedrooms are located. Three of the bedrooms, including the corner primary suite, have en-suite bathrooms—there are four full bathrooms and two half-bathrooms in total.
The penthouse sits atop a 15-story building that was built in 1929 and designed by architect Rosario Candela. Amenities include a full-time doorman, a gym and a deeded private storage unit for each apartment.
Sheindlin couldn’t be reached for further comment.
