I love Liza and wish her well. I came to hate Joan and so grateful shes dead.

by Anonymousreply 1June 12, 2025 11:18 AM

Joan was a hateful cunt.

by Anonymousreply 2June 12, 2025 11:20 AM

That audience was visibly dying inside, having to listen to all that unrelatable showbiz nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 3June 12, 2025 11:40 AM

Joan was the ultimate star fucker. You can tell she’s having a great time.

Her audience? Well…your mileage may vary.

by Anonymousreply 4June 12, 2025 5:41 PM

I think the audience showed up for Liza. I would have.

by Anonymousreply 5June 12, 2025 5:46 PM

I understand, OP. I watched this. Liza was classy and charming. It got better after the promotion was over.

by Anonymousreply 6June 12, 2025 6:05 PM

Joan Rivers blamed her husband for her career failure after Johnny Carson dumped her. She goaded her husband relentlessly until he killed himself.

by Anonymousreply 7June 12, 2025 7:01 PM

Was Liza there to promote her box office smash, “Stepping Out”?

by Anonymousreply 8June 12, 2025 7:17 PM

At least Joan won’t have to face the fall of democracy.

by Anonymousreply 9June 12, 2025 9:26 PM

R5, people got tickets for Joan’s show not knowing who would be on that day. Though decades ago I saw someone handing TV audience tickets out to a show on Fifth Ave because they needed to fill seats. It’s all free, but you never know what you’re going to get. Joan’s talk show was taped in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 10June 12, 2025 9:41 PM

Anyone remember Joan appearing in Serial Mim doing this show? The show’s topic was “Serial Hags.”

by Anonymousreply 11June 12, 2025 9:56 PM

Liza had nice kegs! I've never noticed them before. Are they original?

by Anonymousreply 12June 12, 2025 11:27 PM

thats when talk shows were worth watching/appointment viewing.

by Anonymousreply 13June 13, 2025 12:38 AM

Joan was very nasty funny but was the type who could dish it out but not take it. Say anything about her nepo ugly daughter or unstable husband and she would have beat you to death. But she was free to make any personal mean cuts.

by Anonymousreply 14June 13, 2025 12:44 AM

true r14

by Anonymousreply 15June 13, 2025 12:45 AM

Joan was a fuck face. She wasn’t funny.

by Anonymousreply 16June 13, 2025 12:51 AM

I thought I was the only one who disliked Joan.

by Anonymousreply 17June 13, 2025 1:00 AM

R8 You’re teasing, right? That film cost $12,000,000 to produce and earned back $246,000. They lost $11,754,000.

by Anonymousreply 18June 13, 2025 1:06 AM

Now that's show biz!

Liza is a national treasure.

by Anonymousreply 19June 13, 2025 1:22 AM

R18 it was barely even distributed. There was a corporate restructuring at Paramount and it got lost in the shuffle. They put it in a small handful of theatres "limited release" then never went wide with it and then it went straight to video. There used to be a rumor that the studio struck fewer than a dozen film prints of it.

by Anonymousreply 20June 13, 2025 1:39 AM

I wonder if Liza fans organize an ambush at Judy’s grave every June 10th as she commemorates mom’s birthday?

by Anonymousreply 21June 13, 2025 2:30 AM

I love Stepping Out! I wore out my VHS tape that I had it professionally transferred to a DVD. Luckily it’s on streaming now. Great cast and amazing dancing.

by Anonymousreply 22June 13, 2025 5:07 AM

Dawn French interviewed Joan and Joan trying to explain why it was okay to trash a celebrity’s looks when she was so uptight about her own and would be upset if someone made fun of that, didn’t make sense. She went after people ms kids who weren’t in the spotlight. God forbid if you made fun of hers who was in the spotlight.

by Anonymousreply 23June 13, 2025 5:16 AM

Kathy Griffin pulled the same crap. She had a meltdown when Letterman agreed with her that she was no beauty. Then she said she couldn’t do Fashion Police because it was too mean. Did she never see or hear her act? Now she’s all about supporting women.
