Old TV talk shows that disappeared along with their hosts

Anyone remember the two house fraus back in the 90s? A couple of random women that seemingly popped up from nowhere. The Mommies? Didn't last long.

Vaguely!

I think they had the talk show after a sitcom that lasted for a few seasons.

They had a sitcom where they acted alongside Julia Duffy. Jere Burns from Dear John and a couple of other famous faces were in the ensemble. It ran for two seasons.

Cher's onetime boyfriend Rob Camiletti guest stars in this episode.

Shiloh Strong (older brother of BOY MEETS WORLD'S Rider Strong) played one of the kids.

And Rue McClanahan guest-starred as a monster-in-law.

Bonnie Hunt, 3 seasons. I think she was a Letterman writer/friend.

OP, I think The View replaced them or The View took over their studio space when their show was cancelled. Their talk show was called: Caryl & Marilyn: Real Friends. They had a sitcom and a talk show, so they milked it for all it was worth,

by Anonymousreply 13June 11, 2025 10:29 PM

Either The View or Rosie took over Mike and Maty.

by Anonymousreply 14June 11, 2025 10:32 PM

Even Vanessa from "The Cosby Show" had a talk-show in the '90s.

That show was dumb as hell. I understand getting comedians or washed up tv stars to nose talk shows but why get nobodies?

I guess Perez is still around but only to people who receive WLOS Asheville, North Carolina.

Susan Powter.

I have a vague memory of Alana Stewart and George Hamilton having a show.

The Mommies did not have a funny standup act. They did not have a funny sitcom. Their talk show did not last. Somebody finally gave up on them.

Megan Mullally had a particularly desperate talk show. Beyond gin and regret,

Caroline Rhea.

I remember she was so clearly madly in love with her bandmaster, the handsome trumpeter Chris Botti, and he was NOT interested.

by Anonymousreply 32June 11, 2025 11:58 PM

They really tried to make Bonnie Hunt happen — a talk show, her own sitcom, roles as sidekicks ... nothing took.

by Anonymousreply 33June 12, 2025 12:11 AM

I liked that weird ass show Starting Over that Iyanla was on pre Oprah

by Anonymousreply 34June 12, 2025 12:11 AM

R34. I loved Starting Over!!
