Are you going?
No Kings protests Sat. 6/14

In New Orleans, there's an afternoon protest downtown but it's also Pride so the organizers threw together a morning parade called NO KINGS — YAAAS QUEENS, which will probably be attended by many of the same people.

Down with King Charles! Down with William!
As long as I can go down on Harry.
Nevermind - I'll see myself out.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 11, 2025 12:34 AM |
What do they have against LA's hockey team and Sacramento's basketball team?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 11, 2025 12:36 AM |
If it's about banning 'drag kings'- sign us up!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 11, 2025 12:45 AM |
This sounds like it could turn crazy in the blink of an eye.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 11, 2025 12:56 AM |
I would, but I will be traveling that day
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 12, 2025 10:15 PM |
My partner wanted to go to one, but it's going to be pouring rain all day here in NC. His parade is going to be rained out and it's hilarious.

What will be different on Monday as a result of these protests? Please state something concrete and nothing in terms of how it made people feel.

What a dumb question R10. The point is to make a statement. This country was built on the citizens right to protest government overreach or unfair laws.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 13, 2025 3:30 PM |
Who's asking?

The citizens didn’t do it to make a statement. They did to accomplish an actual change in government. That’s the problem with protests now, they’re just to make a statement.

No one who remembers the protests against the Viet Nam War & the mandatory draft (plus the Civil Rights movement) can doubt the power of mass public protests to change society and the government. We need that energy & outrage today. It’s really all we have at the moment.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 13, 2025 3:51 PM |
It's also good to show the rest of the world that we didn't all don "I'm With Stupid" t shirts when Trump was elected.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 13, 2025 4:10 PM |
If not going, why not?
If maybe, what will make up your mind?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 13, 2025 4:20 PM |
Definitely going here in SF! Fuck tump!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 13, 2025 4:52 PM |
r10, 1. To win the story of the day over the Dictator themed costume party in DC.. 2. To show to the world our commitment to democratic ideals. 3. It may be our last chance for legal protest before ALL our 1st amendment rights are gone. Many people who voted for him see now that the emperor has no clothes and he's a demented rapist. He can't hide from his multiple failures of the past 100 days. DOGE/Musk/Selling pardons to anyone who gives him a million dollars, indiscriminate arrests and deportations, Hegseth, etc.

Isn't the point to help change how the country feels, as with most political protests?
But you of course knew that. You're pretending to be disingenuous.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 13, 2025 5:17 PM |
RE: Winning the media, have you noticed no one is talking about the Epstein files and Musk anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 13, 2025 5:27 PM |
Go! Get out of the house and do it! It’ll be good for you.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 13, 2025 5:27 PM |
Just try not to set any cars on fire. Riots!!! Send in the Marines!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 13, 2025 5:46 PM |
Being a schoolmarmish scold as an anonymous poster is unlikely to get people out of the house, r21.

The libruls are controllin the weathur!
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 13, 2025 5:51 PM |
Wear something cute, make a clever sign, maybe you'll meet someone.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 13, 2025 5:53 PM |
Yes, absolutely. It's my duty as someone who cares about this country and its Constitution. It's not hyperbole to say that our Constitution is under attack... and those that are leading the attack include making marriage equality illegal again, and some even want to make same sex relations illegal. We ignore this at great peril.

The Wall St Journal is reporting that the Proud Boys and other far-right groups are circulating information about the protests and could very well try to disrupt them, so be on the lookout for that.

Overcome my elderly shut in lifestyle? Well, yeah, I might. I think I will.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 14, 2025 1:08 AM |
I have to work. I'm there is spirit. What you're doing is good for our spirits and the world's. Let them know we're not all cousin fucking mouth breeders
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 14, 2025 1:22 AM |
Yes, my first protest!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 14, 2025 1:26 AM |
r10-In laid-back Fort Lauderdale, there's a protest planned for two hours at the intersection of Federal Highway and Sunrise. It's also near the Gateway Theater for those who know the area.
It's important to know others share your viewpoint; people are very isolated right now. There are many good eateries at this location.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 14, 2025 3:20 AM |
Congrats r30!!

Soooo important in FTL!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 14, 2025 11:07 AM |
I really don't like the "No Kings" slogan; I am calling it "No Dictators."
Let me know if you think there is a problem with that before I make my sign.
Wave to me at Embarcadero and El Camino, across the street from Stanford University.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 14, 2025 11:45 AM |
r34 I like "no kings" because it harkens back to the ethos on which this country was founded.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 14, 2025 12:07 PM |
It’s going to be rained out in Philly.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 14, 2025 12:40 PM |
No Tyrants is good too, but r35, good point. Yes, it’s to remind people what this nation was founded upon, because these mouth breathers have forgotten. Or never knew, or never cared.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 14, 2025 12:52 PM |
No, I committed to watching a kid’s dance competition months ago.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 14, 2025 1:03 PM |
r38 I could make some ... arrangements.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 14, 2025 1:06 PM |
wasn't going to until Mangolinni threatened everyone with retribution if they protest. Now you couldn't stop me from going.
Have to do my part to get rid of the old orange feces encrusted windbag
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 14, 2025 1:31 PM |
It's raining cats and dogs in New York! Of course I'm not going.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 14, 2025 4:22 PM |
Wow, DLers out in force today at the No Kings protests.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 14, 2025 9:35 PM |
Just got back from the SF march. It was GREAT! No trouble, just pissed off citizens letting their voices be heard!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 14, 2025 9:39 PM |
Santa Cruz central coast CA: 8,000 were present in the Hands Off day protests. Perhaps DOUBLE that today. The average age today was much younger. MAGA may well "win" in this struggle... but the mass of people are ready to resist... loudly, strongly. It feels so American.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 14, 2025 9:45 PM |
What time is it over?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 14, 2025 9:48 PM |
If nothing happens the narrative will be that Trump warned people and kept them in line.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 14, 2025 9:49 PM |
R46 That's won't be the narrative. There are little millions in protests in over 2,000 locations around the country. The news media may not cover this much. But the narrative is that a huge national protest happened...
