Bob Costas Denounces Mainstream Media For Folding To Trump

Because he is the president, to a certain extent, who he is and what he does, and what is done in his name, has been normalized so that responsible journalists have to pretend that there’s always two sides to this. There really isn’t two sides to much of what Donald Trump represents.

If someone says – and the idea that you have to find somebody who will not just defend Donald Trump, but valorize it, even on CNN or wherever else, just in the name of being balanced – look, if someone is contending that the Earth is flat, in order to appear objective, you are not required to say, “Well, maybe it might be oblong.” No, it’s not.

Certain things are just true. And regrettably, something that’s true in America right now is that the President of the United States has absolutely no regard, and in fact has contempt, for basic American principles and basic common decency.

He's just repeating what all of us on the sane side of America already know. The words "decent" and "Trump" should never be used in the same sentence.

The media has both sided us out of a representative democracy.

Democrats: It’s raining

Republicans: It’s not.

Media: Who knows? That you for coming on the problem to share your thoughts. Well there you have it. Democrats says it’s raining right now out outside our studios while Republicans say it’s not. Neither side can agree.

It comes down to one thing - the mainstream media's need for 'access' to Republicans to appear on their shows. Nevermind that Republicans will lie, distort, change the subject time and again to blame Dems instead of answering any questions.

The real question is WHY do they need access to these Republicans at the expense of throwing them softball questions and not calling them out on lies?

They really are to blame for making all of this seem sane.

It's also the fact that we no longer have objective news from ANY source.

News producers have structured newscasts to have conflict, just as dramatic shows have heroes and villains.

I say fuck them. Report the facts. If the thugs want to argue, come on air and argue that it’s not raining as you stand there, soaking wet.

Let the whole country see how stupid, stubborn and immune to FACTS you are.
