I was recently in the hospital for 9 days and had to have a Foley catheter inserted the first day. They wanted to take it out on day 3 because there's a high incidence of infection if they're left in too long, but the doctor said no leave it in until we release him. They had started letting me get out of the bed to do #2 in the toilet on day 5. On day 8 I got up and went to the toilet and just as I sat down I felt something pop (down there). I looked down and the Foley had literally ejected itself. What a relief. I was shocked how far up in my that thing had been inserted. Thankfully they left it out and let me use the bedside urine bottle until I was released the next day.
