What exactly is the significance behind proudly waving the most treasonous flag in American history? A symbol of secession and oppression and of a vanquished enemy.
And these people consider themselves 'patriots?' How so?

OP, you already know the answers to your own questions.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 9, 2025 10:56 PM |
I agree with r1 that these are pointlessly disingenuous questions.
Sorry, OP. I know you mean well.

Most people who still fly the Confederate flag do so as their way to say to the rest of the world "up yours, I'll fly this flag if I want to, and if it pisses you off all the better".
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 9, 2025 10:58 PM |
Thanks for bumping my thread, R2 ;). It always helps to maintain it near the front of the page.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 9, 2025 10:59 PM |
It's the flag of racist southerners.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 9, 2025 11:00 PM |
R3, what a bunch of morons. And I bet they're the same people who complain about 'foreign flags' in the US.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 9, 2025 11:01 PM |
Oh please, there's plenty of racist northerners, mid westerners, northwesterners and southwesterners who love the Confederate flag.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 9, 2025 11:02 PM |
R7, which again, begs the question of why?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 9, 2025 11:03 PM |
Aging fans of The Dukes of Hazzard?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 9, 2025 11:07 PM |
R7, that is even more bewildering. If you're not even from the south or have 'southern heritage' (whatever the fuck that means), why the hell would you be waving this flag?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 9, 2025 11:09 PM |
I think you know the answer to your question, OP.
Honestly, I remember seeing them all the time growing up in the south in the 90s. You’ll see the odd bumper sticker now, but they aren’t flying all over the place.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 9, 2025 11:15 PM |
R11, yes, their appearance seems more disturbingly frequent these days.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 9, 2025 11:45 PM |
The Confederate Battle flag was finally removed from the Statehouse in Columbia, SC in 2015. I wouldn't be even slightly surprised if it's raised again soon. Perhaps Lindzebelle can commission a rainbow version.

They wish slavery was still legal
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 10, 2025 12:24 AM |
R15, the irony being that the type of people waving confederate flags today would never have been wealthy landowners or aristocrats.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 10, 2025 2:55 AM |
It's their "culture." They think it's important to preserve their "culture."
In a way it's not very different from the way Native Americans or Italian Americans or Inuits or whoever want to preserve their culture, except that southern "culture" has produced very little of any value except Faulkner (whom they don't read) and maybe shrimp and grits, and moreover will always be associated with slavery.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 10, 2025 3:06 AM |
R17, bless their hearts. ;)
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 10, 2025 3:22 AM |
I wouldn't go so far as to say there nothing of value from Southern culture. It's a matter of what is of value to preserve. Cherishing the Confederate Battle flag is like cherishing the swastika or Nazi flag. The Germans aren't without a valuable culture, that's just not it. Those are not symbols to have "pride" in.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 10, 2025 3:41 AM |
It's a cool flag.
It's the American Jolly Roger.
With the old Stars and Stripes, together, we get
American Yin and Yang
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 10, 2025 3:49 AM |
OP, did you just beam in from outer space? It's a symbol for racists to identify each other.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 10, 2025 3:55 AM |
Fuck off R20
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 10, 2025 3:56 AM |
It was used by punks in the 80s and 90s as a big F-U to the government and a symbol of rebellion.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 10, 2025 3:59 AM |
R20, cool for redneck trash, maybe?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 10, 2025 4:03 AM |
They (I know a jackass who used to put one out for a holiday, the neighbors all got together and confronted him, which actually worked), but they think it stands for being "rebels/rebellion ", which is why it has widespread appeal amongst (non southern) people who want to say "fuck you, fuck your feelings, Im free, and I can wave whatever flag I want to, knowing the association with that particular piece of symbology makes it and the flag bearers feel like they're making a 'profound ' political statement when its really a display of their profound ignorance and lack of education/history as the flag they chose (largely misunderstanding that version of the flags meaning to the confederacy).
I a sense they're doing the world a service by wearing their stupidity so clearly. Lest waste time on these creatures.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 10, 2025 4:04 AM |
R19, yet those who display it proudly on their clothing, walks, or hang it outside their homes disagree with you, because they obviously pride themselves in rebellion idiocy (persons who have yet to mature emotionally and/or ideologically - you can’t have one without the other, actually), & YES, regardless of their refuting the truth, the TRUTH IS that they love it, based upon what it means.
It means that the plantation slavers will rise again. It means that persons, overwhelmingly white persons, should be able to own other human beings whom they deem lesser than themselves, in order to create their own personal & family wealth. That’s the bottom line, the TRUTH behind the Confederacy, & its symbolism.
I have zero respect for persons who uphold these values, & they don’t care, & I don’t care that they don’t care.
For those who have befriended persons who are into “it”? I ask that you ask yourself if the person who’s into this shit would genuinely respect you if you weren’t 100% Caucasian. Ask yourself if you’re “friend(s)”, actually truly hold you in the highest of esteem, especially if you’re not Caucasian of 100%, European ancestry.
And if you’re into this freak flag, whether you’re authentically white, or “pass” as white?
Why don’t you go down the rabbit hole, & actually educate yourself as to why the confederate flag is so horribly offensive to the United States?
It represents TREASON, NOT coolness or individuality.
It baffles me that any sane American, who claims to be a genuine patriot, would be into something depicting a war that could have put an end to what it is to be an American.
Cracker open a book, Fuckers! Take up an interest in learning World History & specifically, American History. Harvard has an EXCELLENT & FREE course that encompasses one full semester, which concentrates on the Civil War, what events led up to it, and its aftermath after those damn Yankees WON.
I highly recommend checking it out.
Don’t be an idiot, running around displaying the Confederate flag on your person, or your home, without first understanding via actual historical context, as to how it came to be, & what it represents.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 10, 2025 4:10 AM |
Plenty of typos in my screed, including the word, “Cracker”, which was genuinely meant to say “Crack”.
Apologies to everyone here for me not taking the time to reread what I wrote & editing my writing.
I’d NEVER, ever, call someone a cracker. Hopefully those familiar with my posting history know this, & again, sincere apologies to those who don’t, & all of DL.
I’m so fucking embarrassed, & hopefully, this post will clear things up.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 10, 2025 4:17 AM |
Fuck off r27.
No forgiveness
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 10, 2025 4:18 AM |
I’m not asking for your forgiveness, R28.
What makes you think that clearing things up means I’m asking for forgiveness?
I have nothing to be forgiven for. I made a genuine mistake, & due to the values I hold dear, I wanted to make sure persons here knew that I did, because it MATTERS to me that people know I’m not a racist cunt.
Hope all is well with YOU.

A southern thing. Like so many refuse-to-die idiotic rationales down there. Like the Big Lick Tennessee Walking horses they insist they have a right to abuse.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 10, 2025 7:02 AM |
gross
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 11, 2025 5:20 AM |
Who the hell flies the flag of defeated traitors, what kind of pathetic loser celebrates a failed rebellion against their own country? Fucking dipshits.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 11, 2025 8:09 AM |
R32, apparently southerners.
They rejoice in being absolute losers.

[quote]If you're not even from the south or have 'southern heritage' (whatever the fuck that means), why the hell would you be waving this flag?
I lived in the South for 40 years and saw only one Confederate flag being flown (in Metairie, Louisiana, if you're wondering). Moved to the northeast and there are three guys who fly them in my small town alone.
If they love the South so much, why don't they move? God knows the cost of living is considerably lower.

Symbol of White Supremacy.
Like Project 2025.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 11, 2025 10:56 AM |
They’re people who are still generationally butthurt that the North won. They still want cotton-pickin’ slaves and the ability to hang them. That’s really all they’re about. Meth and inbreeding have compounded the problem.
