Explain the differences between gay, lesbian, and straight relationships

What are the real differences between gay male and lesbian relationships—and how do those differences compare to straight relationships? Not looking for clichés, but actual patterns you’ve seen play out in life or within the community. How do dynamics shift when gender is removed from a heteronormative setup.

For example, there was a study that showed 5% of straight and lesbian relationships are open relationships whereas it’s 40-60% with gay men.

And how come research never study same sex relationships to understand straight relationships? I’ve always believed understanding gender clashing can always be solved by looking at gays and lesbians. Am I the only one?
