He's starting small to see what he can get away with.
The Los Angeles protests represent a long awaited opportunity to run a litmus test.
The California National Guard was not federalized in order to quell or prevent chaos. It was nationalized in order to game out what will happen in the future, when something much, much more serious happens.
The real objective was to ...
[*] Find out how the California government reacts. California is the biggest and most influential state in the country by far. Their response will influence how other states respond when put in a similar situation. [*] Find out whether the federal Courts will be an obstacle to future deployments under the Insurrection Act. Will SCOTUS grant its blessing? (Under Lyndon Johnson, it did grant its blessing, but that was for its own self-interested reasons.) [*] Find out whether the troops will go along with something that might be seen as an illegal order.

I am glad Newsom and Bass are standing up to him, and clearly stating that Trump is trying to escalate the chaos. It is very upsetting to Angelenos. My colleagues are talking about joining the protests.

He started before he was re-elected when his Supreme Court 86'd abortion choice.
He continued by more or less negating the entire Biden presidency by signing a lot papers the first day.
He pardoned a lot of traitors, thugs and thieves and continues to do so.
He is "manufacturing consent" by suing media that ever criticizes him or runs a story he doesn't like. This is what dictators do.
He has created an atmosphere of such pervasive fear (even in the MAGA) that everyone is playing The Emperor's Clothes. No one is willing to say that The Emperor is naked.
He has done what magicians do: Create a distraction to draw attention away from he is REALLY doing. I suspect that is what all this "let's make Canada the 51rst state" and "let's buy Greenland" is all about
He has abducted people with perfectly legal green cards right off the street.
Is it no wonder that he is strong-arming a civil demonstration?

God, you people are so dumb and blind!
These L.A. riots (not "peaceful protests" as legacy media would have you believe) are going to repulse most of America and California, which is mostly red save for the major cities (L.A., San Francisco, San Diego, etc.)
In fact, it's going to cause Americans to even more resent illegal immigrants and Democrats, who are increasingly being viewed as incompetent, bumbling fools, especially the unpatriotic Newsom and Bass, who want to overthrow capitalism in this country.
Many Americans are seeing via social media what a shithole, third world country California has become under their Marxist leadership and won't want that in their states.
As I've stated before, the more Democrats double down on open borders, DEI, CRT, and trans/nonbinary ideology, the more Republicans will triumph in the 2026 midterms, because more and more Americans are going to want to give them extra power to get shit done and do away with these unpopular, far-left issues once and for all, without interference from Democrats.
What we are witnessing is the downfall of the Democratic Party by their down doing.

No, r3. This goes way beyond the typical GOP bugaboos. Its not just about immigration. That's only the excuse. Its about taking control of everything, North Korea style. It's about mobilizing the military against the people to intimidate and demoralize and stifle even the thought of even the mildest exercise of First Amendment rights. Trump and his backers cannot and will not brook any opposition about anything. The U.S.A. is to be their plantation and everyone else in it is to be their enslaved person, there only to follow their orders, or else.

Indeed, it’s all simply a power grab, and ultimately - stealing more millions from the american treasury

Just don’t assume that this isn’t getting Trump lots of support from Hispanics all over the US. That would be a mistake. Many will be upset but many others won’t.

They were going to push the riot angle no matter what. Ted Cruz posted pictures from 2020, pretending they were from 2025. This is what they do.

I went on a Ted Cruise. What a ripoff.

They are throwing around words like rebellion and insurrection with casual abandon. They are drooling at the thought of killing a lot of protesters for the crime of protesting Dear Leader's policies.
r3 you are 100% full of shit. The Trump Cult and the cunts around him are the incompetent fools looking for a violent distraction and a violent reaction to get everyone used to the idea that any dissent from Trump and the Cult is treason.

Those morons played right into his hands when they threw scooters and rocks at the police and then set cabs on fire.

R3 seems to be one of the same trolls trying to mark this as "riots" that escalated so much they had to call in the National Guard. Another Trump misinformation pusher.
