Will Patti LuPone be presenting?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 621June 9, 2025 3:14 AM

Boop!

by Anonymousreply 1June 8, 2025 4:29 PM

No, but she'll be circling the theatre in an SUV, sharing her thoughts through her weapons grade megaphone.

by Anonymousreply 2June 8, 2025 4:30 PM

Happy Tony Awards Day to those who celebrate!

by Anonymousreply 3June 8, 2025 4:30 PM

Patti LuPone is scheduled to be at the 2025 Tony Awards, but her specific role is unclear. She is not listed as a presenter or host. The ceremony is being hosted by Cynthia Erivo. While there were concerns about LuPone's presence due to controversy surrounding her comments about Audra McDonald and Kecia Lewis, she has apologized and is scheduled to attend, though her specific role is not yet confirmed.

by Anonymousreply 4June 8, 2025 4:31 PM

She’ll be there but they’ll force her to wear a dunce cap.

by Anonymousreply 5June 8, 2025 4:34 PM

She'll be laughing at the LOSERS watching home alone on television! That always warms her heart.

by Anonymousreply 6June 8, 2025 4:36 PM

If that mental Spanish tranny can attend the Oscars then foul mouthed Patti should attend the Tonys.

by Anonymousreply 7June 8, 2025 4:42 PM
Will Patti LuPone be presenting?

Yes, she will be presenting hole to Audra!

by Anonymousreply 8June 8, 2025 4:46 PM

Patti will be introducing the "Boop" number live from the ice rink next door.

by Anonymousreply 9June 8, 2025 4:47 PM

There is no ice rink next door…it’s June, Rose.

by Anonymousreply 10June 8, 2025 7:02 PM
it’s June, Rose.

June, June, June

by Anonymousreply 11June 8, 2025 7:07 PM

What's the Broadway song that goes something like

I Dreamed A Dream, I Dreamed It For You Dear

I love that song!

by Anonymousreply 12June 8, 2025 7:08 PM

It’s from 'night, Mother R12.

by Anonymousreply 13June 8, 2025 7:17 PM

“ Will Patti LuPone be presenting?”

I’ll be home, calling ICE on anyone who looks like a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 14June 8, 2025 7:22 PM

Patrick McEnroe will not be in attendance tonight, due to his hair color and other reasons.

by Anonymousreply 15June 8, 2025 8:06 PM

The masks on the Tony Award freak me out. Are they supposed to look like they're melting?

by Anonymousreply 16June 8, 2025 8:13 PM

Too many shrooms, r16?

by Anonymousreply 17June 8, 2025 8:16 PM

Is this available online?

by Anonymousreply 18June 8, 2025 8:30 PM

Who did Helen Lawson bring as her escort?

Butch Romero, Raymond Burr, Richard Chamberlain, or Hugh Jackman?

by Anonymousreply 20June 8, 2025 8:48 PM

Speaking of Hugh Jackman, will he be there tonight? Will he be there with new squeeze Sutton Foster??

by Anonymousreply 21June 8, 2025 8:50 PM

This is so cute.

by Anonymousreply 22June 8, 2025 8:50 PM

Miss Lawson is accompanied by Red Buttons this evening R20.

by Anonymousreply 25June 8, 2025 8:54 PM

I realize that Mia is 80-years-old, but couldn’t she wear a nice pair of low heeled pumps?

Rosie Perez looks great.

by Anonymousreply 29June 8, 2025 9:13 PM

R26, some of us over 60 years old cannot wear the shoes we'd like to, because our bodies won't keep our balance steady. At 65, I am walking with a cane. Mia Farrow is 80 YEARS OLD. She's there, and she is walking on her own.

Give all of us a break.

by Anonymousreply 30June 8, 2025 9:15 PM

No need to be nasty R30.

I hope you trip over your ball sack.

by Anonymousreply 31June 8, 2025 9:17 PM

The Farrows are so creepy.

by Anonymousreply 32June 8, 2025 9:17 PM
Jeremy Jordan for Best Actor in a Musical - 'Floyd Collins'

Who will he have on his arm tonight?

Jason Hawke, Chad Hunt, Gus Mattox, Billy Brandt?

by Anonymousreply 33June 8, 2025 9:26 PM

Ronan has a whole lot of Ellen going on.

by Anonymousreply 34June 8, 2025 9:26 PM

Patti LuPone is hidden inside one of those shoes.

Think Moldavia, but firing words.

by Anonymousreply 35June 8, 2025 9:27 PM

He has Frank’s eyes.

by Anonymousreply 36June 8, 2025 9:33 PM
June, June, June

It's June June JOAN

by Anonymousreply 37June 8, 2025 9:40 PM

I actually like Mia look. Ronan needs to get away from his injector.

by Anonymousreply 38June 8, 2025 9:42 PM

Wasn't a fan of OH, MARY! but I love that Cole Escola is really enjoying glamour genderfucking. They's having fun.

Billy Porter always seems so grim.

by Anonymousreply 39June 8, 2025 9:44 PM

If I were Patti, I'd stay home tonight and not risk the chance of getting booed.

by Anonymousreply 40June 8, 2025 9:54 PM

Scarlett J cosplay is not his best look. He looked better as Aunt Pittypat in mourning dress…

by Anonymousreply 41June 8, 2025 9:54 PM

Oh gawd, there’s Connie Chung pontificating about Asians in Broadway history. No, dear, The World of Suzie Wong was NOT groundbreaking.

by Anonymousreply 42June 8, 2025 10:07 PM

Mia looks great and not just "for her age".

Ronan better hope some of that face work is reversible.

by Anonymousreply 43June 8, 2025 10:15 PM
At 65, I am walking with a cane.

But you're a lesbian, aren't you? That's to be expected.

by Anonymousreply 44June 8, 2025 10:18 PM

Facing cane.

by Anonymousreply 45June 8, 2025 10:19 PM

I think Ms. Lupone should brazen this out. And yes. show up. Present. If she chooses.

by Anonymousreply 46June 8, 2025 10:22 PM

I think we’re slowly seeing the return of men in tuxedos as opposed to dresses. That makes me hopeful.

by Anonymousreply 47June 8, 2025 10:33 PM

Pluto...I think we have a problem.

by Anonymousreply 48June 8, 2025 10:34 PM

Darren Criss’ tranny, lizard looking wife trying to do the one thing she knows is impossible: look sexy.

by Anonymousreply 49June 8, 2025 10:37 PM

I heard that Chappell Roan, Ronan Farrow and Saoirse Ronan are all presenting an award tonight. Which award though?

by Anonymousreply 50June 8, 2025 10:40 PM

Best Run-on Sentence in a musical?

by Anonymousreply 51June 8, 2025 10:41 PM

Will there be a tribute to Gavin Creel tonight?

by Anonymousreply 52June 8, 2025 10:43 PM

R26, Mia Farrow is a world class odd ball. Be grateful she wore shoes at all.

by Anonymousreply 53June 8, 2025 10:44 PM

R50 They'll be presenting the Best Regional Theatre award to the Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke.

by Anonymousreply 54June 8, 2025 10:47 PM

Best book for Maybe Happy Ending. Keep ‘em coming!

by Anonymousreply 55June 8, 2025 10:47 PM

That's some jacket on Darren. He looks like a candy bar.

by Anonymousreply 56June 8, 2025 10:48 PM

It might end up being a better night for Buena Vista Social Club than I expected.

by Anonymousreply 57June 8, 2025 10:54 PM

Audience certainly loves it.

by Anonymousreply 58June 8, 2025 10:57 PM

Is anybody else streaming the red carpet besides the stupid Playbill Live?

by Anonymousreply 59June 8, 2025 11:08 PM

That's Justin Peck's third Tony, I think.

by Anonymousreply 60June 8, 2025 11:09 PM

Kecia isn't even a presenter, even though she won last year.

If I were Patti, I'd come out and ask where she is, since she's so revered in the community.

by Anonymousreply 61June 8, 2025 11:15 PM

Jonathan Groff is wearing some sort of hairpiece.

by Anonymousreply 62June 8, 2025 11:22 PM

Andy’s looking adorable

by Anonymousreply 63June 8, 2025 11:25 PM

R40 Patti should show up in a crimson red dress like Scarlett O'Hara at Ashley's birthday.

by Anonymousreply 64June 8, 2025 11:26 PM

Give it up for Isabelle Stevenson!

by Anonymousreply 65June 8, 2025 11:28 PM

Gavin's gonna get a HUGE response during the In Memorial reel.

by Anonymousreply 66June 8, 2025 11:30 PM

Gavin has a beautiful Iris named after him.

Patti will emerge from the wings in Galinda's bubble and dressed in pink and with a wand, spreading joy and good will to all good Ozians.

by Anonymousreply 68June 8, 2025 11:39 PM

Kushner looks good.

by Anonymousreply 69June 8, 2025 11:43 PM

Excellent speech by Harvey

by Anonymousreply 70June 8, 2025 11:52 PM

Yup, it's gonna be Maybe Happy Ending's night.

by Anonymousreply 71June 8, 2025 11:54 PM

Harvey gave a great speech. Not overly speechifying but just gratitude!

by Anonymousreply 72June 8, 2025 11:59 PM

by Anonymousreply 73June 8, 2025 11:59 PM

Talk about bone killers. Watching the pre show announcements on who will be performing tonight. I for one cannot endure Ms. Manuel Miranda performing a number in the original cast of "Hamilton". Can't she just stay home?

by Anonymousreply 74June 9, 2025 12:00 AM

Will they make Patti jokes?

by Anonymousreply 75June 9, 2025 12:02 AM

Is Patti banned from the ceremony because of her foolish cuntery?

by Anonymousreply 76June 9, 2025 12:03 AM

Does anyone still give a shit about Oprah in this day and age?

by Anonymousreply 77June 9, 2025 12:03 AM

Honestly, dear, unless you're ready to hung from a meat hook, lose the fucking earring.

by Anonymousreply 78June 9, 2025 12:03 AM

She is singing well but it’s a weird opening song

by Anonymousreply 79June 9, 2025 12:04 AM

Sometimes all you need is a song…with an actual fucking melody.

by Anonymousreply 80June 9, 2025 12:05 AM

It feels like an admission that she's kind of underwhelming as a stage presence.

by Anonymousreply 81June 9, 2025 12:05 AM

The Zaftig Chorus has arrived.

by Anonymousreply 82June 9, 2025 12:05 AM

"Does anyone still give a shit about Oprah in this day and age?"

Yes. Not like her heyday, but plenty of people still care about Oprah. She's been around for so long, for some people she's just a reassuring/comfortable presence and like to see her.

by Anonymousreply 83June 9, 2025 12:06 AM

Get this number and this overrated hag off the stage!

by Anonymousreply 84June 9, 2025 12:06 AM

Even if I personally witnessed Darren Criss eating pussy I still couldn't believe he doesn't really want dick instead.

by Anonymousreply 85June 9, 2025 12:06 AM

Screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming, screaming screaming screaming screaming screaming!

by Anonymousreply 86June 9, 2025 12:06 AM

Cole Escola looks ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 87June 9, 2025 12:07 AM

What show is this song from, or is it from the show?

by Anonymousreply 88June 9, 2025 12:07 AM

Did anybody else tear up at the presence of Oprah? Did anyone grow breathless at the sight of Gayle?!

by Anonymousreply 89June 9, 2025 12:07 AM

Oh look, Gayle King.

by Anonymousreply 90June 9, 2025 12:08 AM

I think it is an original song

by Anonymousreply 91June 9, 2025 12:08 AM
Cole Escola looks ridiculous.

But at least they always look like they're having a lot of fun.

by Anonymousreply 92June 9, 2025 12:08 AM

I was just thinking the same thing, r81. No doubt a talented singer, but no warmth.

by Anonymousreply 93June 9, 2025 12:08 AM

Standing ovation! 👏

by Anonymousreply 94June 9, 2025 12:08 AM
Oh look, Gayle King.

Someone has to wipe Oprah's ass.

by Anonymousreply 95June 9, 2025 12:08 AM

Darren looks shiny!

by Anonymousreply 96June 9, 2025 12:09 AM

I thought the opening number was pretty good.

by Anonymousreply 97June 9, 2025 12:09 AM
Did anybody else tear up at the presence of Oprah?

"I do, every morning!" -- Gayle
Did anyone grow breathless at the sight of Gayle?!

"I do, every morning!" -- Oprah

by Anonymousreply 98June 9, 2025 12:09 AM

Erivo again? So difficult to look at…

by Anonymousreply 99June 9, 2025 12:09 AM

What's the over/under for standing ovations for "mid" performances tonight?

by Anonymousreply 100June 9, 2025 12:10 AM

Gayle's back from space?

by Anonymousreply 101June 9, 2025 12:10 AM

R89 😂

by Anonymousreply 102June 9, 2025 12:10 AM

She looks nervous.

by Anonymousreply 103June 9, 2025 12:10 AM

She has a face…for radio.

by Anonymousreply 104June 9, 2025 12:10 AM

Gayle King...yaasss! OMG love you queen!

by Anonymousreply 105June 9, 2025 12:11 AM

PLEASE give the awards to the talent not the fame.

by Anonymousreply 106June 9, 2025 12:12 AM

Why is Keanu Reeves here? No shade, I like him, but he can’t even act in highly edited films yet alone a play.

I’m tired of Hollywood actors invading Broadway and making it insanely expensive

by Anonymousreply 107June 9, 2025 12:12 AM

C'mon, Shiv!

by Anonymousreply 108June 9, 2025 12:12 AM

Of course this season was record breaking for $. When tickets cost a kidney...

by Anonymousreply 109June 9, 2025 12:13 AM

If Patti shows she won't be presenting hole, but there's a high likelihood she'll wind up digging one.

MY LIFE FOR LUPONE!

by Anonymousreply 110June 9, 2025 12:13 AM

Wow! Sarah is packed into that dress.

by Anonymousreply 111June 9, 2025 12:13 AM

After the show, Erivo will be immediately escorted to the set of the next Star Trek movie. Those earrings are ridiculous, not to mention the nose jewelry..

by Anonymousreply 112June 9, 2025 12:13 AM

I love that we are all supposed to buy that Gayle is just Oprah's "great and good friend," just like people in the 30s and 40s were supposed to think that about Marion Davies in relation to WR Hearst.

by Anonymousreply 113June 9, 2025 12:13 AM

R92, I think they actually look very nervous.

by Anonymousreply 114June 9, 2025 12:13 AM

Take a drink every time you hear the word, " Incredible."

by Anonymousreply 115June 9, 2025 12:14 AM

Broadway is still for the rich or those who can afford to pay a month’s rent for a ticket.

by Anonymousreply 116June 9, 2025 12:14 AM
If Patti shows she won't be presenting hole,

Don't worry: I'll do it for her when I get backstage!

by Anonymousreply 117June 9, 2025 12:14 AM

Why is Erivo dressed like Orphan Annie?

by Anonymousreply 118June 9, 2025 12:14 AM

WR Hearst was a lesbian?

by Anonymousreply 119June 9, 2025 12:15 AM

Michelle Williams? This seems sort of of random. Did she go on to act after pop stardom with Destiny's Child?

by Anonymousreply 120June 9, 2025 12:15 AM

Did they do the featured actors during the "Act One" broadcast?

by Anonymousreply 121June 9, 2025 12:15 AM

"The Gays The Musical."

by Anonymousreply 122June 9, 2025 12:16 AM

Chorus boys!

by Anonymousreply 123June 9, 2025 12:16 AM

Adam fucking Lambert and his fucking eyeshadow.

by Anonymousreply 124June 9, 2025 12:17 AM

I want to fuck some of these dancers.

by Anonymousreply 125June 9, 2025 12:17 AM

Love those dancing boys.

by Anonymousreply 126June 9, 2025 12:17 AM

Death Becomes Her, The Musical:

I can STRETCH, KICK, and STRETCH!

by Anonymousreply 127June 9, 2025 12:18 AM

This is a good number too.

by Anonymousreply 128June 9, 2025 12:18 AM

Dear fucking god Hamilton will be there.

That'll be the time to go take a big steaming dump.

by Anonymousreply 129June 9, 2025 12:19 AM

'All the Gay's Love me' was a glorious song! Got to see a road show of that musical.

by Anonymousreply 130June 9, 2025 12:20 AM

r120 She's in the Death Becomes Her musical, playing the Isabella Rosselini role.

by Anonymousreply 131June 9, 2025 12:20 AM

That’s Gays song was trash

by Anonymousreply 132June 9, 2025 12:21 AM

Wish they would show more filmed Broadway plays on television for those of us who can’t go see them.

by Anonymousreply 133June 9, 2025 12:21 AM

R120 she’s been on Broadway for years

by Anonymousreply 134June 9, 2025 12:21 AM

Cheno seemed off tonight

by Anonymousreply 135June 9, 2025 12:22 AM

Why didn't the producers get a host with personality?

by Anonymousreply 136June 9, 2025 12:22 AM
Why is Keanu Reeves here? No shade, I like him, but he can’t even act in highly edited films yet alone a play.

R107 They said those two were opening up in 'Waiting for Godot' next year. Oh boy...

by Anonymousreply 137June 9, 2025 12:23 AM
I think it is an original song.

It was written by Pasek and Paul and Shaiman and Whitman.

by Anonymousreply 138June 9, 2025 12:23 AM

Katie noooooooooo…

by Anonymousreply 139June 9, 2025 12:23 AM

You thought I was dead bitches?

by Anonymousreply 140June 9, 2025 12:24 AM

Who's Katie Holmes playing in Our Town? It'd better not be the young schoolgirl.

by Anonymousreply 141June 9, 2025 12:24 AM

Conrad Ricamora wuz robbed.

by Anonymousreply 142June 9, 2025 12:25 AM

Did anyone see Purpose?

by Anonymousreply 143June 9, 2025 12:25 AM

Keanu Reeves is perfectly fine in action films and is generally well liked by the public. I don't know why he's going to do Godot where he might embarrass himself.

by Anonymousreply 144June 9, 2025 12:26 AM

You Won't Succeed on Broadway if You Don't Have Any Jues.

by Anonymousreply 145June 9, 2025 12:26 AM

Katie played the schoolgirl's mother, R141. Zoey Deutch (Lea Thompson's daughter) played Emily.

by Anonymousreply 146June 9, 2025 12:27 AM

WTF was Katie Holmes wearing????? She looked like total shit.

by Anonymousreply 147June 9, 2025 12:27 AM

R141, she played Mrs. Gibbs.

by Anonymousreply 148June 9, 2025 12:27 AM

Ugh, the mermaid silhouette again.

by Anonymousreply 149June 9, 2025 12:28 AM

Seems odd seeing Cyn without Ariana.

by Anonymousreply 150June 9, 2025 12:28 AM

I want to see BSC

by Anonymousreply 151June 9, 2025 12:28 AM

I want to see BBC

by Anonymousreply 152June 9, 2025 12:29 AM

Watching the Tony Awards is like witnessing the last gasping breath of wokeism.

by Anonymousreply 153June 9, 2025 12:29 AM

I know we're supposed to be bitchy, but overall I think the show has been great. Another good number - Buena Vista Social Club

by Anonymousreply 154June 9, 2025 12:30 AM

Congratulations Sarah Snook. Loved her in "Succession".

by Anonymousreply 155June 9, 2025 12:30 AM

"Watching the Tony Awards is like witnessing the last gasping breath of wokeism."

Why?

by Anonymousreply 156June 9, 2025 12:30 AM

Harvey gets his lifetime Tony tonight. That makes me happy.

by Anonymousreply 157June 9, 2025 12:31 AM

Those Latin dancers are 🔥

by Anonymousreply 158June 9, 2025 12:31 AM

For better or for worse, Patty Positive, there will at least be several theatre kids inspired by at least one of these performances tonight (yes, even Cynthia's).

by Anonymousreply 159June 9, 2025 12:31 AM

Jonathan Groff? Looks like that shit break's coming early.

by Anonymousreply 160June 9, 2025 12:31 AM

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

One can hope.

by Anonymousreply 161June 9, 2025 12:31 AM

Sit the fuck down, that was one BORING number.

by Anonymousreply 162June 9, 2025 12:32 AM

Because, R156, attention whore R153 is feeling neglected tonight.

by Anonymousreply 163June 9, 2025 12:32 AM

R153 begone. You have no ignorant power here.

by Anonymousreply 164June 9, 2025 12:32 AM

Unpopular opinion- Groff was not good as Bobby Darin. He didn’t capture his essence at all

by Anonymousreply 165June 9, 2025 12:32 AM

R157, dear, keep up. Harvey got his Tony earlier tonight.

by Anonymousreply 166June 9, 2025 12:33 AM

Latin dancers are hot and some of those Latin daddies playing music.

by Anonymousreply 167June 9, 2025 12:33 AM

It's been fine because it's moving fast so far. Not much self-indulgence, which will undoubtedly come later. Plus, it has a dull host who has just been given minimal words to spit out.

by Anonymousreply 168June 9, 2025 12:33 AM

I hated Sarah Snook in TPODL. What a lousy night in the theatre. More like an athletic competition than a real play.

by Anonymousreply 169June 9, 2025 12:33 AM

r152, please don't turn this thread into a political one. Let this thread be a break from the nonsense going on in this country, thanks.

by Anonymousreply 170June 9, 2025 12:34 AM

R165: I don’t know why he gets work. He’s a mediocre actor and singer.

by Anonymousreply 171June 9, 2025 12:34 AM

It's been very entertaining so far. People here are angry at the world. Lighten up, ladies.

by Anonymousreply 172June 9, 2025 12:34 AM

The Buena Vista number sounds exactly like everything I hear walking up Amsterdam Avenue on a Tuesday. All that damn music sounds exactly the same. There, I said it.

by Anonymousreply 173June 9, 2025 12:34 AM

Tony’s celebrate the last gasp of talent & civilization holding off the barbarians. Next year they’ll probably be produced by our despicable president.

by Anonymousreply 174June 9, 2025 12:34 AM

TPODG….

by Anonymousreply 175June 9, 2025 12:34 AM

sorry, r152, I meant to send that to r153.

by Anonymousreply 176June 9, 2025 12:34 AM

Fuck off, R152. There might be murders in LA tonight.

by Anonymousreply 177June 9, 2025 12:35 AM

Let's not kid ourselves. The Clooney acceptance speech will be the epitome of smug.

by Anonymousreply 178June 9, 2025 12:35 AM
The Buena Vista number sounds exactly like everything I hear walking up Amsterdam Avenue on a Tuesday

Maybe, but the show is terrific.

by Anonymousreply 179June 9, 2025 12:36 AM

Let's really not kid ourselves. There will be no Clooney acceptance speech.

by Anonymousreply 180June 9, 2025 12:37 AM

R178 fuck off. We're facing fascism in this country. Idiot.

by Anonymousreply 181June 9, 2025 12:37 AM

The audio sucks. I can barely hear the host although I guess that’s not such a bad thing.

by Anonymousreply 182June 9, 2025 12:37 AM

There's another thread going on right now that might be better suited to you if you want to debate "woke"-ism and discuss "murders in LA tonight".

by Anonymousreply 183June 9, 2025 12:37 AM

Can the stage hands hook, Ms Lambert, and Ms. Enviro nose to nose?

by Anonymousreply 184June 9, 2025 12:37 AM

This guy is straight !?

by Anonymousreply 185June 9, 2025 12:39 AM

He was determined to get every word of that in.

by Anonymousreply 186June 9, 2025 12:40 AM

Damn, Wikipedia is fast -- they've updated the Operation Mincemeat page already and he hasn't even finished his acceptance speech.

by Anonymousreply 187June 9, 2025 12:40 AM

Cynthia is wearing beautiful red costumes tonight.

by Anonymousreply 188June 9, 2025 12:41 AM

Not Cynthia forcing them to applaud the makeup dude

by Anonymousreply 189June 9, 2025 12:41 AM

Oh, it's a valentine's day Hershey's kiss.

by Anonymousreply 190June 9, 2025 12:41 AM

R188 this is not red. It’s pink

by Anonymousreply 191June 9, 2025 12:41 AM

Bobby Darin looked nothing like this. Groff doesn’t even slightly sound nor resemble Darin.

by Anonymousreply 192June 9, 2025 12:42 AM

Bobby Darin "re-imagined for a contemporary audience."

by Anonymousreply 193June 9, 2025 12:43 AM

Oh good fuck I can't stand this phony queen's walk dancing and below average voice.

by Anonymousreply 194June 9, 2025 12:43 AM

Jonathan Groff sits on Keanu's face. I love it!

by Anonymousreply 195June 9, 2025 12:43 AM

Jonathan Groff is a star!

by Anonymousreply 196June 9, 2025 12:43 AM

Bobby Darrin wasn't quite like this

by Anonymousreply 197June 9, 2025 12:44 AM

If Bobby Darin saw this, he'd have another heart attack and die all over again.

by Anonymousreply 198June 9, 2025 12:44 AM

R192 It’s a play.

by Anonymousreply 199June 9, 2025 12:44 AM

Groff is just gay.

by Anonymousreply 200June 9, 2025 12:44 AM

R199 about Bobby. If you’re gonna make a play about him do it right. Enough with the bullshit. And Bobby wouldn’t climb on a man and assault him

by Anonymousreply 201June 9, 2025 12:45 AM

When Jonathan jumped onto seat, do we know who was seated?

by Anonymousreply 202June 9, 2025 12:46 AM

R199, it's a person singing Darin songs. That's all.

by Anonymousreply 203June 9, 2025 12:46 AM

Keanu.

by Anonymousreply 204June 9, 2025 12:46 AM

Is this the thread for the uninformed? Seriously, people on Datalounge used to know something about theater before posting.

In the show, Groff is explicitly not supposed to be Bobby Darin. He is playing Jonathan Groff in 2025, who goes back to explore Darin’s life and music.

by Anonymousreply 205June 9, 2025 12:46 AM

Just In Time deals with this cleverly…At the beginning of the show the announcer says, “ladies and gentlemen, Jonathan Groff!” So you never really expect him to do an impersonation.

by Anonymousreply 206June 9, 2025 12:47 AM

I'm counting the money I saved for not seeing Miss Groff make a fool of himself Dreadful performance.

by Anonymousreply 207June 9, 2025 12:47 AM

That Death Become Her number provided further proof that the Radio City Music Hall is just too fucking karge. It swallows up mudical numbers. FFS, they need to be brought back to a proper Broadway theater.

by Anonymousreply 208June 9, 2025 12:47 AM

Oh, people know the concept. They just can't stop criticizing it.

by Anonymousreply 209June 9, 2025 12:48 AM

Erivo’s gowns are hideous! She needs to be in a tailored suit without hideous stillettos.

by Anonymousreply 210June 9, 2025 12:48 AM

These presenters pairings are too fucking random.

by Anonymousreply 211June 9, 2025 12:48 AM
Keanu Reeves is perfectly fine in action films and is generally well liked by the public. I don't know why he's going to do Godot where he might embarrass himself.

It might work if he's playing Godot.

by Anonymousreply 212June 9, 2025 12:48 AM

Can we finally put to rest that trend of saying Keanu doesn't age?

by Anonymousreply 213June 9, 2025 12:48 AM

Jessica Hecht was robbed.

by Anonymousreply 214June 9, 2025 12:49 AM

r205, Not everyone knows everything, like you. Asking questions is how we learn about Broadway.

by Anonymousreply 215June 9, 2025 12:50 AM

r201 Hugh Jackman didn't look like Peter Allen, either.

by Anonymousreply 216June 9, 2025 12:50 AM

Uh-oh ... time to Trigger the Datalounge Racists (TM) again!

by Anonymousreply 217June 9, 2025 12:51 AM

Oh, MARY!

by Anonymousreply 218June 9, 2025 12:51 AM

R212 and remember it's GOD-o. Not go-DO.

by Anonymousreply 219June 9, 2025 12:52 AM

So far no surprises and safe winners….so it seems to be Audra for #7

by Anonymousreply 220June 9, 2025 12:52 AM

Get the fuck off the stage!

by Anonymousreply 221June 9, 2025 12:52 AM

What is Purpose about?

by Anonymousreply 222June 9, 2025 12:52 AM

Finally, some talent! Hi Miss Close!

by Anonymousreply 223June 9, 2025 12:53 AM

Having purpose.

by Anonymousreply 224June 9, 2025 12:53 AM

Glen looks good.

by Anonymousreply 225June 9, 2025 12:53 AM

It's DL Icon, G!

by Anonymousreply 226June 9, 2025 12:53 AM
Hugh Jackman didn't look like Peter Allen, either.

Says who?

by Anonymousreply 227June 9, 2025 12:53 AM

R223: The AMPAS disagrees.

by Anonymousreply 228June 9, 2025 12:53 AM

Is Patti mouthing the words off stage?

by Anonymousreply 229June 9, 2025 12:54 AM

Where’s the blood at? I wuz robbed.

by Anonymousreply 230June 9, 2025 12:54 AM

R179 and R173, The musical number looked great and I like that music. Earlier I was just commenting on the Documentary of the same name that was done some years ago. That music was also sublime. Ruben Gonzalez, Compay Segundo, and Ibrahim Ferrer. All of them, sadly are gone now. They were old when the documentary was made. Candela was on the album soundtrack too. It was fun seeing it staged with the dancers.

by Anonymousreply 231June 9, 2025 12:54 AM

My God Nicole Scherzinger has a magnificent voice. That is all.

by Anonymousreply 232June 9, 2025 12:55 AM

Tits McMAGA looks cadaverous.

by Anonymousreply 233June 9, 2025 12:55 AM

Yawn... what's on NBC?

by Anonymousreply 234June 9, 2025 12:55 AM

Why is she holding the note? It's not in the fucking score why is she holding it?!

by Anonymousreply 235June 9, 2025 12:55 AM

Patti looks different

by Anonymousreply 236June 9, 2025 12:56 AM

R231, I’m glad you enjoy the music. I maintain all of it always sounds exactly the same. Same rhythm, same melody, same everything. Interchangeable.

by Anonymousreply 237June 9, 2025 12:56 AM

R235 Because she can.

by Anonymousreply 238June 9, 2025 12:56 AM

*Roll eye*

How many more years will Nichole feel the need to prove she's more than just a Pussycat Doll?

by Anonymousreply 239June 9, 2025 12:57 AM

I was doing my Groff shit break. Did I miss the announcement that Lin Manuel fucking Miranda has left his seat to prepare for Hamilton?

by Anonymousreply 240June 9, 2025 12:57 AM

They're lip synching, aren't they. That's why the sound levels are so uneven.

At least that Sunset Blvd performance was ...

by Anonymousreply 241June 9, 2025 12:57 AM

Next commercial break-Jonathan Groff for Popperz.

by Anonymousreply 242June 9, 2025 12:58 AM

All these folks taking a "T break".. hmm..

by Anonymousreply 243June 9, 2025 12:59 AM

Wrong answer R238. I hate when these performance bastardize the score, to prove they can hold a note.

by Anonymousreply 244June 9, 2025 12:59 AM

The Pure Leaf boy needs a break between gown changes.

by Anonymousreply 245June 9, 2025 12:59 AM

r238 But why is she acting like she's the only person in the room who can hold a note?

by Anonymousreply 246June 9, 2025 12:59 AM

I’m not a theatre guy. Can Nicole beat Audra? Is it Cole Eacolas to lose?

by Anonymousreply 247June 9, 2025 12:59 AM

I prefer note holders to yodeling.

by Anonymousreply 248June 9, 2025 1:00 AM

Some of you bitches are more tiresome than amusing. You hate anyone who is successful. Is it just envy?

by Anonymousreply 249June 9, 2025 1:00 AM

If you're going to criticize her performance, try something other than her holding a note.

by Anonymousreply 250June 9, 2025 1:01 AM

What’s happening with Glenn Close /Sunset Blvd the movie?

by Anonymousreply 251June 9, 2025 1:01 AM

Why does Cole Escola think he looks good in a dress with his hairy chest hanging out?

by Anonymousreply 252June 9, 2025 1:02 AM

The note didn't bother me so much as the animated hand gestures.

by Anonymousreply 253June 9, 2025 1:02 AM

r247: Nothing would please me more if Jasmine won. She's the only thing worthwhile in BOOP.

by Anonymousreply 254June 9, 2025 1:03 AM

It was a pitchy Fermat a, R250?

by Anonymousreply 255June 9, 2025 1:03 AM

Sure, R250. her vocal pyrotechnics are all bombast and showing off with zero charm or sublety.

by Anonymousreply 256June 9, 2025 1:03 AM

R251: Apparently nothing.

by Anonymousreply 257June 9, 2025 1:05 AM

r252: The hairy chest is the point. Escola genderfucks far more entertainingly than Billy Porter ever did.

by Anonymousreply 258June 9, 2025 1:05 AM

I enjoyed Nicole’s performance but did wonder if she was lip-syncing.

by Anonymousreply 259June 9, 2025 1:06 AM

Is that the bitch mother in law from Young Sheldon?

by Anonymousreply 260June 9, 2025 1:06 AM

Hilty was lipping. Nicole was not.

by Anonymousreply 261June 9, 2025 1:06 AM

It is, yes, R260.

by Anonymousreply 262June 9, 2025 1:07 AM
The hairy chest is the point. Escola genderfucks far more entertainingly than Billy Porter ever did.

I did it before both of you bitches!

by Anonymousreply 263June 9, 2025 1:08 AM

Some bird died for that gown.

by Anonymousreply 264June 9, 2025 1:08 AM

R205 ok I didn't realize that. I stand corrected

by Anonymousreply 265June 9, 2025 1:08 AM

Ahhhhh ! More talent! Welcome is O'Hara

by Anonymousreply 266June 9, 2025 1:09 AM

Oooh the capt’n. Yes, please

by Anonymousreply 267June 9, 2025 1:10 AM

R232 I agree. Amazing. Even La LuPone praised her.

by Anonymousreply 268June 9, 2025 1:11 AM

Mmm mmm mmm. The delicious Ramin Karimloo.

by Anonymousreply 269June 9, 2025 1:11 AM

I love live professional theatre. It's real. They really sing and they really dance, and they ACT and it happens in real time and it is brilliant.

by Anonymousreply 270June 9, 2025 1:11 AM

Not bad for high school production.

by Anonymousreply 271June 9, 2025 1:12 AM

Is this the Brady Bunch Hour!

by Anonymousreply 272June 9, 2025 1:12 AM

R270 Me too! Such a treat.

by Anonymousreply 273June 9, 2025 1:12 AM

Everything moves along very well, until Erivo puts a halt to the momentum. Bad choice; no sense of humor or comic timing.

by Anonymousreply 274June 9, 2025 1:12 AM

That is the LAZIEST tap dancing EVER!

by Anonymousreply 275June 9, 2025 1:13 AM

R272 oh stop!

by Anonymousreply 276June 9, 2025 1:13 AM

This Pirates of Penzance re-imagining is pretty interesting; inspired by Our Flag Means Death?

by Anonymousreply 277June 9, 2025 1:13 AM

This show embodies why Broadway is dead. Good god.

by Anonymousreply 278June 9, 2025 1:13 AM

Groff is an excellent performer and I look it as him paying homage to Bobby Darin. Of course he is nothing like Bobby Darin. Now. Bobby Darin adored Sinatra. He wanted to be just like Frank. Adored him. And Frank, well he was jealous of Bobby Darin and helped destroy his career. Now that's a story to tell.

by Anonymousreply 279June 9, 2025 1:13 AM

I’m not sure that was the best use of Pirates’ time.

by Anonymousreply 280June 9, 2025 1:14 AM

Dreadful

by Anonymousreply 281June 9, 2025 1:15 AM

Actually, if they had actually been tap dancing AND using the washboards as added percussion - that would have been pretty impressive. Otherwise ... BORING and unimaginative.

by Anonymousreply 282June 9, 2025 1:15 AM

I'm officially in hate watch mode.

by Anonymousreply 283June 9, 2025 1:16 AM

R283 - we all are, honey.

by Anonymousreply 284June 9, 2025 1:16 AM

More talent! Welcome Ben Stiller!

by Anonymousreply 285June 9, 2025 1:17 AM

R279 I mean, he was singing songs Bobby sang. He was dressed like him, I guess. But the style of performance couldn't be more different.

by Anonymousreply 286June 9, 2025 1:17 AM

The first act of Pirates was hilarious. The second act had wonderfully energetic choreography.

The excerpt highlighted neither.

by Anonymousreply 287June 9, 2025 1:17 AM

R279 = Lea Michele

by Anonymousreply 288June 9, 2025 1:17 AM

That's a cheap-ass Koreatown wig Stiller has on there.

by Anonymousreply 289June 9, 2025 1:18 AM

Lol @ Koreatown wig.

by Anonymousreply 290June 9, 2025 1:19 AM

Where's Linda Ronstadt and Kevin Kline when you need them?

by Anonymousreply 291June 9, 2025 1:20 AM

R291 or Rex Smith even.

by Anonymousreply 292June 9, 2025 1:21 AM

The shamelessly long “hooooooooooome” near the end of "With One Look" visited a few zones of pitch and tone quality.

by Anonymousreply 293June 9, 2025 1:21 AM

In the eyes at least, Ben Stiller is now looking like Tim Bagley.

by Anonymousreply 294June 9, 2025 1:21 AM

Ooo, Purpose! Sadie Sink was in a Godzilla movie, no?

by Anonymousreply 295June 9, 2025 1:22 AM

I mean "As If We Never Said Goodbye," of course.

Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 296June 9, 2025 1:22 AM

Purpose!

by Anonymousreply 297June 9, 2025 1:23 AM

This is all REALLY BAD. Quite ironic when this was apprently a great Broadway season.

by Anonymousreply 298June 9, 2025 1:23 AM

If Purpose could win a Pulitzer, it could win a Tony.

by Anonymousreply 299June 9, 2025 1:23 AM

God. Bye Phylicia.

by Anonymousreply 300June 9, 2025 1:23 AM

I think Stiller is kind of cute. He turns 60 this year. Looks great.

by Anonymousreply 301June 9, 2025 1:24 AM

Where is Phylicia Rashad

by Anonymousreply 302June 9, 2025 1:24 AM

I was hoping a stage full of porpoises would appear.

by Anonymousreply 303June 9, 2025 1:24 AM

Did Tamara Tunie play LaTanya’s rolein a reading or something? Bitch is currently doing a ghastly job in a new and unwatchable daytime soap on CBS.

by Anonymousreply 304June 9, 2025 1:25 AM

Would be sweet if Rashad wins best director.!

by Anonymousreply 305June 9, 2025 1:25 AM

R305 difficult as she’s not nominated!

by Anonymousreply 306June 9, 2025 1:25 AM

Cole WHO?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 307June 9, 2025 1:26 AM

Will he need a Pure Leaf after this?

by Anonymousreply 308June 9, 2025 1:27 AM

The sound quality is awful. The TV audience doesn’t need to be made to feel like they’re in the 3rd balcony.

by Anonymousreply 309June 9, 2025 1:27 AM

Tony winner Natalie Venetia Belcoin bears a strong facial resemblance to Jennifer Lewis.

WHET Jennifer Lewis?!

by Anonymousreply 310June 9, 2025 1:29 AM

The firefly guy is really cute. And Criss acts exactly the same in everything.

by Anonymousreply 311June 9, 2025 1:29 AM

She was on black-ish for many years, R310.

by Anonymousreply 312June 9, 2025 1:29 AM

Oh, this one looks good. The Asian girl shows the promise of a young Linda Lavin.

by Anonymousreply 313June 9, 2025 1:29 AM

Next year, Darren Criss IS Robert Shields in Shields & Yarnell, The Musical.

by Anonymousreply 314June 9, 2025 1:30 AM

Christ. Brian fucking Cranston.

by Anonymousreply 315June 9, 2025 1:30 AM

That was charming. Easily the best thing all night so far.

by Anonymousreply 316June 9, 2025 1:31 AM

Sidestepping the whole Lupone drama is a big mistake, especially since it was the major topic of discussion on the red carpet. You know it's the only reason many have tuned in.

Maybe they'll have Lupone present Best Musical.

Otherwise, talk about blowing a major opportunity.

by Anonymousreply 317June 9, 2025 1:31 AM

that was pitchy

by Anonymousreply 318June 9, 2025 1:31 AM
If I were Patti, I'd stay home tonight and not risk the chance of getting booed.

She probably gets booed at home too.

by Anonymousreply 319June 9, 2025 1:31 AM
And Criss acts exactly the same in everything.

Being robotic is a plus in this show.

by Anonymousreply 320June 9, 2025 1:32 AM

Will Aronson? a homosexualist?

by Anonymousreply 321June 9, 2025 1:33 AM

Darren is really not a good actor.

by Anonymousreply 322June 9, 2025 1:33 AM

R317 it’s the Tonys not the MTV awards

by Anonymousreply 323June 9, 2025 1:33 AM

Darren has never been a good actor nor a great singer. He’s just a cute Eurasian guy whose theatre trained and a theatre kid his entire life

by Anonymousreply 324June 9, 2025 1:34 AM
Sidestepping the whole Lupone drama is a big mistake, especially since it was the major topic of discussion on the red carpet. You know it's the only reason many have tuned in.

Thank God it's being ignored. And, no, the gay Super Bowl would have the same viewership, few outside viewers. Everyone else is tuned into the NBA finals on ABC.

by Anonymousreply 325June 9, 2025 1:34 AM

sound quality is horrible, r309, because it's pre-recorded and the sound guy doesn't know how to blend from the live mic moments.

Every song has been lip synched so far

by Anonymousreply 326June 9, 2025 1:35 AM

The Tony awards have always been better when presented in a Broadway theater. For a few years, they were also at the Beacon, which was fine. Radio City is just too big. But those greedy motherfuckers who run the American Theatre Wing want to make a ton of money selling tickets at Radio City to the general public.

by Anonymousreply 327June 9, 2025 1:35 AM
Would be sweet if Rashad wins best director.!

That would be quite the upset, since she wasn’t nominated.

by Anonymousreply 328June 9, 2025 1:35 AM

R317 would rather see an episode of Real Housewives of Quogue than the Tonys.

by Anonymousreply 329June 9, 2025 1:36 AM

This is the fastest growing thread I’ve ever seen on DL outside a famous death.

by Anonymousreply 330June 9, 2025 1:36 AM

Yeah, most people are watching ten men play with their balls right now.

by Anonymousreply 331June 9, 2025 1:37 AM

Jesse Eisenberg doesn't age

by Anonymousreply 332June 9, 2025 1:37 AM

If the Mark Hellinger ever escapes the claws of that church and is a theater again the Tonys should be held there as a way of celebration.

by Anonymousreply 333June 9, 2025 1:37 AM

And there'll be at least 200 posts in the five minutes surrounding the Best Actress in a Musical award.

by Anonymousreply 334June 9, 2025 1:38 AM

Hate mode dialed up to 11. Jesse Eisenberg?!

by Anonymousreply 335June 9, 2025 1:38 AM

“If’n”

by Anonymousreply 336June 9, 2025 1:38 AM
This is the fastest growing thread I’ve ever seen on DL outside a famous death.

Yes, the five posters are really doing their job.

by Anonymousreply 337June 9, 2025 1:38 AM

Eisenberg has written the songs for his next film which is set in a community theater musical production. Julianne Moore and Bernadette Peters are in it. They shot a lot of it near my house in NJ.

by Anonymousreply 338June 9, 2025 1:39 AM

Gee, this is the most confusing musical about Genesis ever.

by Anonymousreply 339June 9, 2025 1:40 AM

Eisenberg was a musical theatre kid.

by Anonymousreply 340June 9, 2025 1:41 AM

Next up: Phylicia Rashad SHINES in Weezy, Underappreciated Bitch on Wheels.

by Anonymousreply 341June 9, 2025 1:41 AM

Sounds great, as long as Eisenberg stays BEHIND the camera.

by Anonymousreply 342June 9, 2025 1:41 AM
it’s the Tonys not the MTV awards

And that's why it's been threatened to get pulled off of network air for the last decade.

Growth is good.

by Anonymousreply 343June 9, 2025 1:41 AM

Not really, R331. With two small market teams in the finals, ratings were way down for game 1.

by Anonymousreply 344June 9, 2025 1:42 AM

I agree r311 who was that cute firefly guy? Who's had him?

by Anonymousreply 345June 9, 2025 1:44 AM

WIFE??? purses fall out of his mouth

by Anonymousreply 346June 9, 2025 1:44 AM

Sorry, R342, he’s also in it but a crew person tokd me it’s not a leading role.

by Anonymousreply 347June 9, 2025 1:44 AM

Will still destroy the Tonys in the ratings.

by Anonymousreply 348June 9, 2025 1:44 AM

Was Lynne Meadows punched in both eyes?

by Anonymousreply 349June 9, 2025 1:45 AM

WHET to speeches not written and read?

by Anonymousreply 350June 9, 2025 1:45 AM

Time to shit. Time to shit HARD.

by Anonymousreply 351June 9, 2025 1:46 AM

Ugggghhh, here she is boys, Ms. Miranda.

Where is the remote?

by Anonymousreply 352June 9, 2025 1:47 AM

I loathe Ms. Miranda with the heat of ten billion galaxies.

by Anonymousreply 353June 9, 2025 1:48 AM

And that’s why the only number I like in Hamilton is “You’ll Be Back.”

by Anonymousreply 354June 9, 2025 1:48 AM

Ms. Miranda insists upon herself.

by Anonymousreply 355June 9, 2025 1:48 AM

At least they didn't get fat.

by Anonymousreply 356June 9, 2025 1:49 AM

Whenever this will finally be brought to the silver screen, it will be a smash. 💥

by Anonymousreply 357June 9, 2025 1:49 AM
Will still destroy the Tonys in the ratings

Who cares, r348? You seem as obsessed with ratings as Trump.

by Anonymousreply 358June 9, 2025 1:49 AM

God. I forgot THAT one was in it too. That fucking mauve dinner jacket.

by Anonymousreply 359June 9, 2025 1:50 AM

Yea, Hamilton!

by Anonymousreply 360June 9, 2025 1:50 AM

"That's a cheap-ass Koreatown wig Stiller has on there"

Keanu's frontal piece was worse.

by Anonymousreply 361June 9, 2025 1:50 AM

Never understood the Hamilton phenomenon. It looks lame and overrated as hell.

by Anonymousreply 362June 9, 2025 1:50 AM

Dear Mother of God. Groff again. What did we do to deserve this?

by Anonymousreply 363June 9, 2025 1:50 AM

What a different world it was when Hamilton was new.

by Anonymousreply 364June 9, 2025 1:50 AM

It won't earn a dime from me R357 and by the way, it's been some 15 years, why hasn't it hit the silver screen?

by Anonymousreply 365June 9, 2025 1:51 AM

Now you did it, R 358. This is a thread where that person is not to be named.

by Anonymousreply 366June 9, 2025 1:51 AM

Lisa Todd Wexley's husband got FAT.

by Anonymousreply 367June 9, 2025 1:51 AM

What is Floyd Collins about?

by Anonymousreply 368June 9, 2025 1:52 AM

And the award for Most Punchable Face goes to:

Lin-Manuel FUCKING Miranda.

by Anonymousreply 369June 9, 2025 1:52 AM

Lisa Todd Wexley's husband got THICC

by Anonymousreply 370June 9, 2025 1:52 AM

What's with the screams and the cheering over this overrated crap? Jesus Christ, have we gone downhill.

by Anonymousreply 371June 9, 2025 1:52 AM

Now that Latino males went MAGA, that felt off

by Anonymousreply 372June 9, 2025 1:53 AM

Ten fuckin years is not long enough.

by Anonymousreply 373June 9, 2025 1:53 AM

They enjoyed the performance, R371?

by Anonymousreply 374June 9, 2025 1:53 AM

The Maybe Happy Ending number cut through the noise of the others.... should serve the show well in drawing audiences.

by Anonymousreply 375June 9, 2025 1:54 AM

R369 I vote for cat that ate the canary shit eating grinned Miss Groff for the award

by Anonymousreply 376June 9, 2025 1:54 AM

Lindsay Lohan looks great on that commercial for the product Darren Criss shilled for earlier.

by Anonymousreply 377June 9, 2025 1:55 AM

Tonys in competition with Trump/LA Protests. Erivo Vrs burning cars

by Anonymousreply 378June 9, 2025 1:55 AM

Hey, that's Chunk from Bull!

by Anonymousreply 379June 9, 2025 1:55 AM

R348 the Tonys have never brought in big viewers. It’s for THEATRE fans and attendees. NYC Broadway specifically. NYC is one city in a massive country. Most people don’t care about it. It’s a niche audience

by Anonymousreply 380June 9, 2025 1:56 AM

Why wasn't Groff in the bows for Hamilton?

by Anonymousreply 381June 9, 2025 1:56 AM

Wow, more hate for Miranda than Groff & Criss - and they said it couldn’t be done. Remind me, who DO we like (males only)?

by Anonymousreply 382June 9, 2025 1:56 AM

I was once stuck listening to Hamilton for 6 hours on a road trip. The frauest frau show that ever fraued.

by Anonymousreply 383June 9, 2025 1:56 AM

"What’s happening with Glenn Close /Sunset Blvd the movie?"

Andrew wants her to play Max instead.

by Anonymousreply 384June 9, 2025 1:56 AM

R371 proof that you’re new and don’t know shit about Broadway.

Hamilton was MASSIVE when it came out. MASSIVE. It was sold out months in advance and people did wait lists for up to a year to get tickets.

by Anonymousreply 385June 9, 2025 1:57 AM

What is it with the self-loathing queens on this site? Bitching about Groff participating in a Hamilton reunion? He's been nominated for four Tonys, won one last year, and is still waiting to see if he won this year (he won't). He also spends a lot of time doing charity work. He's talented, handsome, and well-liked in the industry.

What have you accomplished other than keeping your bartender employed?

by Anonymousreply 386June 9, 2025 1:58 AM

All the other plays had much much much better direction!

by Anonymousreply 387June 9, 2025 2:00 AM

I’m gonna have to look for a more fun group to watch these awards with next year.

by Anonymousreply 388June 9, 2025 2:01 AM

"What’s happening with Glenn Close /Sunset Blvd the movie?"

Typically a pat on the head and a yes, dear.

by Anonymousreply 389June 9, 2025 2:01 AM

Cole Escola’s face annoys me to no end.

by Anonymousreply 390June 9, 2025 2:01 AM

R386 is clearly that mincing queen Groff.

by Anonymousreply 391June 9, 2025 2:02 AM
What is Floyd Collins about?

True story about a man stuck in a cave and the media circus surrounding his attempted rescue. Inspired the Kirk Douglas movie Ace in the Hole.

by Anonymousreply 392June 9, 2025 2:02 AM

I am impressed by Jeremy Jordan. He sure can hold a stage.

by Anonymousreply 393June 9, 2025 2:03 AM

FLOYD COLLINS is tuneless and boring.

by Anonymousreply 394June 9, 2025 2:04 AM
It won't earn a dime from me [R357] and by the way, it's been some 15 years, why hasn't it hit the silver screen?

Ummm ... did you notice how long it was before WICKED became a movie? And other huge shows like BOOK OF MORMON are older than HAMILTON and no movie is on the horizon.

Anyway, HAMILTON already had a filmed performance on Disney+.

by Anonymousreply 395June 9, 2025 2:05 AM

Nice speech. He seemed like he really practiced, but he really nailed it - didn't seem stagey.

by Anonymousreply 396June 9, 2025 2:05 AM

Bitch please. The gosh golly bullshit Groff tries to serve is all for show. Don't forget who his bestie is and there's no way you can be friends with a toxic nasty bitch like that and not share similar outlooks or attitudes.

by Anonymousreply 397June 9, 2025 2:05 AM

R394: I was thinking the same thing about Maybe Happy Ending.

by Anonymousreply 398June 9, 2025 2:06 AM

"The sun'll come out tomorrow..."

Not for these folks, however.

by Anonymousreply 399June 9, 2025 2:06 AM

Happy Arden won for his beautiful direction of MHE.

by Anonymousreply 400June 9, 2025 2:07 AM

R397 I agree with you about him being best friends with Lea. Her and Criss are also very close. Says a lot about them

by Anonymousreply 401June 9, 2025 2:07 AM

R399: Fuck off atheist!

by Anonymousreply 402June 9, 2025 2:07 AM

Sam Pinkleton flew up to the stage like a butterfly.

by Anonymousreply 403June 9, 2025 2:07 AM

That's a pisser!

by Anonymousreply 404June 9, 2025 2:07 AM

They didn't end with Lavin? There's gonna be rioting on the streets of Broadway tonight.

by Anonymousreply 405June 9, 2025 2:08 AM

They are holding off on Audra to perform last. And then she wins #7

All because Patti LuPone told an interviewer that she was not a friend

by Anonymousreply 406June 9, 2025 2:09 AM

I was told this would be a solo....

by Anonymousreply 407June 9, 2025 2:09 AM

They showed them in the order they died. Gavin Creel was the most recent.

by Anonymousreply 408June 9, 2025 2:10 AM

Michael Arden killed it

by Anonymousreply 409June 9, 2025 2:10 AM
Hamilton was MASSIVE when it came out. MASSIVE. It was sold out months in advance and people did wait lists for up to a year to get tickets.

SUNSET BLVD did the same thing when tickets first went on sale in 1994. It had the biggest box office advance in B'way history (at the time) .

by Anonymousreply 410June 9, 2025 2:10 AM

Song choice was weird but they sang it nicely.

by Anonymousreply 411June 9, 2025 2:11 AM

Please move it along, and give Audra the Tony already.

by Anonymousreply 412June 9, 2025 2:11 AM

It’s a shame that the “In Memoriam” segment became more about the singers than the people they’re supposedly honoring.

by Anonymousreply 413June 9, 2025 2:12 AM

I can understand keeping the Dead Outlaw, Operation Mincemeat and especially Gypsy performances near the end, to build excitement. But why even bother with the Real Women Have Curves performance? It's already lost both awards it was nominated for.

by Anonymousreply 414June 9, 2025 2:12 AM

Wrong R408. Gavin died MONTHS ago.

by Anonymousreply 415June 9, 2025 2:12 AM

Why the fuck do they have to show the Dolce Gabbana commercial with Theo James in Greece in his tight white bathing suit?

by Anonymousreply 416June 9, 2025 2:12 AM

Cynthia Erivo is amazing and has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. She is indeed a credit to the trans community.

by Anonymousreply 417June 9, 2025 2:12 AM

“The sun will come out tomorrow…except for the following dead people”- Richard Lawson on BlueSky.

by Anonymousreply 418June 9, 2025 2:13 AM

By the way, r368, there's another small-ish rural musical based on an even wilder true story: Google the story behind "Dead Outlaw" -- holy shit.

by Anonymousreply 419June 9, 2025 2:13 AM

Are we supposed to care that Groff is friends with Lea Salonga?

by Anonymousreply 420June 9, 2025 2:13 AM

Graceful guy

by Anonymousreply 421June 9, 2025 2:14 AM

Actor in a Leading Role: PLEASE award talent not fame.

by Anonymousreply 422June 9, 2025 2:14 AM

they are insufferable

by Anonymousreply 423June 9, 2025 2:14 AM

It's a total mystery why they would think the demo that watches the Tony awards would like such a thing, r416

by Anonymousreply 424June 9, 2025 2:14 AM

Happy for Cole Escola.

by Anonymousreply 425June 9, 2025 2:15 AM

Jeffery Self must be dying right now.

by Anonymousreply 426June 9, 2025 2:15 AM

Dylan Mulvaney is there? Ok.

by Anonymousreply 427June 9, 2025 2:15 AM
“The sun will come out tomorrow…except for the following dead people”- Richard Lawson on BlueSky.

Bitch stole my joke!

by Anonymousreply 428June 9, 2025 2:15 AM

HOT DAMN!

by Anonymousreply 429June 9, 2025 2:15 AM

That Theo James commercial, though....

by Anonymousreply 430June 9, 2025 2:15 AM

They always award men in dresses and black women now. The actress categories always go to black women now and male categories men in dresses

by Anonymousreply 431June 9, 2025 2:16 AM

Is Billy Eichner happy or pissed.

by Anonymousreply 432June 9, 2025 2:16 AM

Yale and Carnegie Mellon name drops tonight.

by Anonymousreply 433June 9, 2025 2:17 AM

Why was that woman on the aisle behind REG dressed like an accordion? Is she the same beeyotch who had that enormous hat on at the Oscars one year? Or was it the Emmys?

by Anonymousreply 434June 9, 2025 2:17 AM

George and Anal Clooney have left the building.

by Anonymousreply 435June 9, 2025 2:17 AM

Cole Escola looked alarmingly like Amy Adams

by Anonymousreply 436June 9, 2025 2:17 AM

Dylan Mulvaney is there

by Anonymousreply 437June 9, 2025 2:17 AM

Cole Escola is exactly why they hate us.

by Anonymousreply 438June 9, 2025 2:17 AM

And none too soon R435.

by Anonymousreply 439June 9, 2025 2:18 AM

No, Cole Escola is exactly why you hate you.

by Anonymousreply 440June 9, 2025 2:18 AM

The Purpose guys and Daniel Dae Kim were robbed. I do not understand the interest and praise for Cole Escola. He is lame and overrated as hell.

by Anonymousreply 441June 9, 2025 2:18 AM
Is Billy Eichner happy or pissed.

I'm interested!

by Anonymousreply 442June 9, 2025 2:18 AM

They needed a number from Boop! to liven things up.

by Anonymousreply 443June 9, 2025 2:19 AM

I'm sure the ratings will be high for this because of the Patti vs. Audra controversy.

Don't forget all the now-grown former teenage boys who had their posters on their walls.

by Anonymousreply 444June 9, 2025 2:19 AM

"Cole Escola is exactly why they hate us."

But this is a "for us, by us" show/community. Who cares. They hate us anyway.

by Anonymousreply 445June 9, 2025 2:19 AM

Fun fact-Jeb Brown was the only hot looking teen in Bring Back Birdie.

by Anonymousreply 446June 9, 2025 2:20 AM

Andrew Durand can’t sing.

by Anonymousreply 447June 9, 2025 2:20 AM

There's a musical about poop? Tell me more!

by Anonymousreply 448June 9, 2025 2:21 AM

Yeah, the contretemps will surely bring in the masses, R444.

by Anonymousreply 449June 9, 2025 2:21 AM
Andrew Durand can’t sing.

He can't be sexy either.

by Anonymousreply 450June 9, 2025 2:22 AM

God. Adriana fucking De Bose. Time to finish that shit.

by Anonymousreply 451June 9, 2025 2:22 AM

Dead Outlaw used their time well.

by Anonymousreply 452June 9, 2025 2:22 AM

Aaron Tveit looks haggard.

by Anonymousreply 453June 9, 2025 2:22 AM

I didn’t even know Aaron Tveit was still a thing

by Anonymousreply 454June 9, 2025 2:23 AM
I do not understand the interest and praise for Cole Escola. He is lame and overrated as hell.

Did you see, "Oh, Mary!"?

by Anonymousreply 455June 9, 2025 2:25 AM

Only in his own mind, R454.

by Anonymousreply 456June 9, 2025 2:25 AM

R440 = Ms Esssssscola

by Anonymousreply 457June 9, 2025 2:25 AM

R307 Here. Question answered.

by Anonymousreply 458June 9, 2025 2:25 AM

441: I thought OH, MARY! the most overrated thing I've seen in a long time yet I'm pleased for Escola. He's been working around on the periphery for years and its nice got see him break through in a hit. I do hope his next project is better.

by Anonymousreply 459June 9, 2025 2:27 AM

So, who thinks Audra will win?

by Anonymousreply 460June 9, 2025 2:28 AM

Why is all of the DL hate directed at men?

by Anonymousreply 461June 9, 2025 2:28 AM

Oh God, an encore appearance on the horizon by Ms. Miranda?! Why is this happening?

by Anonymousreply 462June 9, 2025 2:28 AM

Dylan Mulvaney looks gorgeous

by Anonymousreply 463June 9, 2025 2:28 AM

Whatever happened to Jeffrey Self anyway?

by Anonymousreply 464June 9, 2025 2:28 AM

They showed the damn commercial for Gypsy before the live Audra performance? Very tacky.

by Anonymousreply 465June 9, 2025 2:29 AM

Audra doing a good Leslie Uggams impersonation.

by Anonymousreply 466June 9, 2025 2:29 AM

r460: It's a given. Even before Patti.

by Anonymousreply 467June 9, 2025 2:30 AM

JUNE is bustin' out all over, R466.

by Anonymousreply 468June 9, 2025 2:30 AM

What happened to Mr. Goldstone's eggrolls???

by Anonymousreply 469June 9, 2025 2:30 AM

Is every Gypsy Tony presentation the same song, " Rose's Turn"?

by Anonymousreply 470June 9, 2025 2:30 AM

Audra was NOT BETTER than Nicole and I didn’t even like Nicole that much. Her performance is all over the place

by Anonymousreply 471June 9, 2025 2:30 AM

Once more for the cheap seats in the back, Audra.

by Anonymousreply 472June 9, 2025 2:31 AM

Why do DLers say this is bad? She’s great

by Anonymousreply 473June 9, 2025 2:31 AM

Did Audra mess up the lyrics? Is she Leslie Uggams?

by Anonymousreply 474June 9, 2025 2:31 AM

Wow. Never seen so much scenery chewed in eight bars.

by Anonymousreply 475June 9, 2025 2:31 AM

I'm sorry. Iove Audra, but she has too much muchness, her voice is way too big for the song she is playing. I can hardly understand the lyrics of a song I am very familiar with. Gypsy has been a favorite of mine for years.

by Anonymousreply 476June 9, 2025 2:32 AM

Watching this makes me appreciate Angela Lansbury all the more.

Good Lord.

by Anonymousreply 477June 9, 2025 2:32 AM

She's awful. Grimacing like a cheap circus clown.

by Anonymousreply 478June 9, 2025 2:32 AM

This is fucking awful.

by Anonymousreply 479June 9, 2025 2:32 AM

All is forgiven, Tyne Daly.

by Anonymousreply 480June 9, 2025 2:32 AM

r470

This is only the 2nd time Gypsy has done Rose's turn

by Anonymousreply 481June 9, 2025 2:32 AM

God. I'll bet the fifth row can smell her breath.

by Anonymousreply 482June 9, 2025 2:32 AM

Please God, I hope someone besides Audra wins. She’s had sufficient.

by Anonymousreply 483June 9, 2025 2:33 AM

My money's on Scherzinger. The audience ate up her number.

by Anonymousreply 484June 9, 2025 2:33 AM

I love how she walked off like a champ! Overall decent performance. Tone it down a bit.

by Anonymousreply 485June 9, 2025 2:33 AM

Rose is SCREEEAAAAAMING

by Anonymousreply 486June 9, 2025 2:33 AM

And you know the audience is going to scream .

by Anonymousreply 487June 9, 2025 2:33 AM

Much more over the top than Nicole. Not loving it.

by Anonymousreply 488June 9, 2025 2:33 AM

The Chipotle fumes must be overwhelming.

by Anonymousreply 489June 9, 2025 2:33 AM

Leah looking more Idina than evah.

by Anonymousreply 490June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

Oh my God that Rose's Turn STUNK on ICE!

by Anonymousreply 491June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

I guess Ms. Lea fucking Michele forgot the Light Egyptian makeup this time around.

by Anonymousreply 492June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

Haven't enough actresses won for this role?

by Anonymousreply 493June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

That was embarrassing.

by Anonymousreply 494June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

Sorry, love Audra, but Mama Rose is a belter, not a soprano.

by Anonymousreply 495June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

That was painful.

by Anonymousreply 496June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

I saw Tyne in Gypsy twice. Much better than Audra.

by Anonymousreply 497June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

The blandest show idea imaginable:

Lea Michele and Aaron Tveit in Chess.

by Anonymousreply 498June 9, 2025 2:34 AM

Audra should have done that song in the Apollo Theater.

by Anonymousreply 499June 9, 2025 2:35 AM

SUNSET BLVD !

by Anonymousreply 500June 9, 2025 2:35 AM

R474, I’m pretty sure she did. Hence my post. And I think her stomping offstage reflected her anger at herself. Or maybe the sound fucked her up.

by Anonymousreply 501June 9, 2025 2:35 AM

I saw [insert name here] in Gypsy twice. Much better than Audra.

There, R497. Fixed that for you.

by Anonymousreply 502June 9, 2025 2:35 AM

Wow, maybe I should get my head tattooed so I'll be more popular.

by Anonymousreply 503June 9, 2025 2:36 AM

Stop fucking posing, Nicole. This award isn't about you.

by Anonymousreply 504June 9, 2025 2:36 AM

Aaron Tveit could rent his nasolabial folds as an Airbnb.

by Anonymousreply 505June 9, 2025 2:36 AM

FLOYD COLLINS was robbed.

by Anonymousreply 506June 9, 2025 2:36 AM

But, R498, this re-imagination features the two of them sitting and playing chess while they sing. For the entire show.

by Anonymousreply 507June 9, 2025 2:36 AM

I saw a clip from TikTok and thought she was a bit much, but I had no idea chewed the scenery like this for the role.

I know you’ve got to play to the cheap seats but damn.

by Anonymousreply 508June 9, 2025 2:36 AM

How many has this year's annual revival of Gypsy won tonight?

by Anonymousreply 509June 9, 2025 2:37 AM

Oprah brought her girlfriend! She looks great in that shade of green by the way.

by Anonymousreply 510June 9, 2025 2:37 AM

Jeez, how many people need to accept the award for Sunset Boulevard?

by Anonymousreply 511June 9, 2025 2:38 AM

Oh God, Audra! Madam Rose is not an angry middle=age Negro matron.

by Anonymousreply 512June 9, 2025 2:38 AM

Erivo is really trying, but it’s not landing. That was painful.

by Anonymousreply 513June 9, 2025 2:38 AM

Gypsy so far has gone zero-for-four, R509. Audra's the last chance.

by Anonymousreply 514June 9, 2025 2:38 AM

I love Jamie Lloyd's tattooed head, but he best be careful - he might get deported.

by Anonymousreply 515June 9, 2025 2:39 AM

Oprah's Ozempic isn't holding up.

by Anonymousreply 516June 9, 2025 2:39 AM

R514 tells you something?

by Anonymousreply 517June 9, 2025 2:39 AM

La LuPone stopped the show in 2008.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 518June 9, 2025 2:39 AM

Strong brought some much needed subtlety. It’s nice to see someone not tripping over themselves to be cutesy.

by Anonymousreply 519June 9, 2025 2:40 AM
Why do DLers say this is bad? She’s great

She’s sort of both, simultaneously.

by Anonymousreply 520June 9, 2025 2:40 AM

Watching Audra's performance made me want to jump into a time machine and return to 1991 to see Tyne Daly in GYPSY.

by Anonymousreply 521June 9, 2025 2:40 AM

Getting your bald head tattooed will be the next fashion.

by Anonymousreply 522June 9, 2025 2:40 AM

No it won't R522.

by Anonymousreply 523June 9, 2025 2:41 AM

Second Act Elmer McCurdy would have been a more lively host than Erivo.

by Anonymousreply 524June 9, 2025 2:42 AM
Did Audra mess up the lyrics?

yes. she went up

by Anonymousreply 525June 9, 2025 2:42 AM

The digital curtains are a nice effect.

by Anonymousreply 526June 9, 2025 2:43 AM

Oprah presenting Lead Actress in a Musical.

by Anonymousreply 527June 9, 2025 2:43 AM

Why did this come to Broadway? This is British WW2 history Americans don't know/care about.

by Anonymousreply 528June 9, 2025 2:43 AM

Lot of dead people musicals it seems.

by Anonymousreply 529June 9, 2025 2:43 AM

This is not going to be over by 11:00.

by Anonymousreply 530June 9, 2025 2:44 AM
Watching Audra's performance made me want to jump into a time machine and return to 1991 to see Tyne Daly in GYPSY.

I'd set it back further to see Angela or Ethel.

by Anonymousreply 531June 9, 2025 2:44 AM

Patti presenting best actress in a musical would’ve been great.

by Anonymousreply 532June 9, 2025 2:44 AM

Audra just wanted to prove that she wasn't lip-syncing, so she messed up the lyrics and went hoarse at the end.

by Anonymousreply 533June 9, 2025 2:44 AM

I caught it first-where’s my fucking prize?

by Anonymousreply 534June 9, 2025 2:44 AM

Of course Oprah is presenting best actress in a musical

by Anonymousreply 535June 9, 2025 2:45 AM

"Madam Rose is not an angry middle=age Negro matron"

Do Louise and June perform on the Chitlin Circuit in this version?

by Anonymousreply 536June 9, 2025 2:45 AM
Oprah presenting Lead Actress in a Musical.

Did she request this, in anticipation of an Audra win?

by Anonymousreply 537June 9, 2025 2:45 AM

Hosting awards shows is difficult for everyone. She's okay; not great, not terrible. I find her nose ring hard to look at, but I enjoyed her and Sara singing Tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 538June 9, 2025 2:45 AM

Is Oprah presenting a tell?

by Anonymousreply 539June 9, 2025 2:45 AM

There's a Kiss of the Spider Woman movie with JLo?!

by Anonymousreply 540June 9, 2025 2:46 AM

I really enjoyed Operation Mincemeat. It’s doing better than a lot of shows Americans are supposed to know/care about. And Dear Bill is the most skillful, distinctive new song I’ve seen on Broadway in a long time.

by Anonymousreply 541June 9, 2025 2:47 AM

Not necessarily ...

by Anonymousreply 542June 9, 2025 2:47 AM

I saw Lupone perform Rose twice in 2006. The City Center and the Saint James theater. She came across exactly as depicted @R518. Yes, I agree. Both times she absolutely stopped the show.

by Anonymousreply 543June 9, 2025 2:47 AM

That performance of "Rose's Turn" was exactly why I've been avoiding this revival. Cue all the people telling us why it's so much better in context.

by Anonymousreply 544June 9, 2025 2:48 AM

This may be a Chadwick Boseman moment when they announce 'Best Actress' in a musical. Remember when they saved his category last at the Oscars - and he lost ? I can't wait to see the look on Oprah's face when she reads off Nicole's name and not Audra.

by Anonymousreply 545June 9, 2025 2:48 AM

I enjoyed the movie Operation Mincemeat. It had a great cast.

by Anonymousreply 546June 9, 2025 2:49 AM

I saw LuPone six rows back... will never forget it.

by Anonymousreply 547June 9, 2025 2:49 AM

Oprah was backstage @ Sunset - with Gayle - and gushing.

by Anonymousreply 548June 9, 2025 2:49 AM

R518 Thanks for sharing. No wonder why Lupone didn't comment on Audra's performance in the interview. She did the right thing.

by Anonymousreply 549June 9, 2025 2:51 AM
Did she request this, in anticipation of an Audra win?

No she requested this in anticipation of a black woman winning.

by Anonymousreply 550June 9, 2025 2:51 AM

The time they gave to Hamilton should have been given to Boop, dammit.

by Anonymousreply 551June 9, 2025 2:51 AM

I was LuPone six rows back, behind Kelsey Grammer and Jon Voight and their dates. I will never forget it, but I wish I could.

by Anonymousreply 552June 9, 2025 2:51 AM

Why is the Curves show allowed to present when Boop!, which has an actual nominee, wasn't?

by Anonymousreply 553June 9, 2025 2:51 AM

Lawanda Page as Rose Hovick.

by Anonymousreply 554June 9, 2025 2:51 AM

Audra and this iteration of Gypsy were not well reviewed as I recall.

by Anonymousreply 555June 9, 2025 2:52 AM

Your recall is off.

by Anonymousreply 556June 9, 2025 2:53 AM

And the winner is .... LaLa Land!

by Anonymousreply 557June 9, 2025 2:53 AM

Criss!

by Anonymousreply 558June 9, 2025 2:54 AM

Did we really need another revival of Gypsy?

by Anonymousreply 559June 9, 2025 2:54 AM

R553 you know why lol

by Anonymousreply 560June 9, 2025 2:54 AM

Seriously??? darren criss wtf????

by Anonymousreply 561June 9, 2025 2:54 AM

Darren Criss beat Tom Francis?!

by Anonymousreply 562June 9, 2025 2:55 AM

They paid lol.

by Anonymousreply 563June 9, 2025 2:55 AM

Nathan Lane is Rose!

Cole Escola is Louise!

Hugh Jackman is June!

and starring Miss Glenn Close as Mr. Goldstone in the lost scenes recently discovered in the vaults of the theater. Coincidentally by Miss Close.

by Anonymousreply 564June 9, 2025 2:55 AM

Darren’s face is starting to look funny

by Anonymousreply 565June 9, 2025 2:55 AM

The Gleeks are orgasming!

by Anonymousreply 566June 9, 2025 2:55 AM

Jeremy Jordan was robbed!!!

by Anonymousreply 567June 9, 2025 2:55 AM

He's definitely gay, please.

by Anonymousreply 568June 9, 2025 2:55 AM

R474, you're probably the only one who caught that, whenever it was. I'm sure everyone in the audience, both in the theater and at home had tuned her out by that point.

by Anonymousreply 569June 9, 2025 2:56 AM

Kinda wow.

by Anonymousreply 570June 9, 2025 2:56 AM

Tom Francis is pissed.

by Anonymousreply 571June 9, 2025 2:56 AM

Who is the guy who didn't look pleased with Criss's win? Not that award losers have to look pleased.

by Anonymousreply 572June 9, 2025 2:56 AM

Cast an Oscar for future EGOT Darren Criss. That's 3 Glee alumni with Tonys not named Lea Michele.

by Anonymousreply 573June 9, 2025 2:56 AM

No way he mounts that wife and goes to town to create 3 babies.

by Anonymousreply 574June 9, 2025 2:57 AM

Any of the other guys beside Jonathan Groff deserved this.

Groff doesn’t look thrilled either

by Anonymousreply 575June 9, 2025 2:57 AM

Tom Francis, Sunset Boulevard, R572.

by Anonymousreply 576June 9, 2025 2:57 AM

Darren Criss is so hungry.

by Anonymousreply 577June 9, 2025 2:57 AM

R569, we were all covering our ears.

by Anonymousreply 578June 9, 2025 2:57 AM

Darren Criss? Please I've seen better robotic acting on an average episode of Black Mirror.

by Anonymousreply 579June 9, 2025 2:57 AM

Jonathan Groff looked disappointed.

by Anonymousreply 580June 9, 2025 2:58 AM

R572 - I saw that - He was so salty from losing I could taste it from my living room. He was NOT happy.

by Anonymousreply 581June 9, 2025 2:58 AM

Groffsauce looked bummed

by Anonymousreply 582June 9, 2025 2:58 AM

That's now Tony [italic]nominee[/italic] Tom Francis.

by Anonymousreply 583June 9, 2025 2:59 AM

How long until Cole Escola plays Mama Rose in yet another revival?

by Anonymousreply 584June 9, 2025 2:59 AM

Why was Audra so off key?

by Anonymousreply 585June 9, 2025 2:59 AM

Here we go…

by Anonymousreply 586June 9, 2025 2:59 AM

Tom Francis was bullshit about his loss. The look on his face was almost as bad as Angela Bassett's at the Oscars. Almost.

by Anonymousreply 587June 9, 2025 2:59 AM

I’m admittedly Team Audra, but now I want to see her win just to see Datalounge collectively explode.

by Anonymousreply 588June 9, 2025 2:59 AM

Tom Francis was the frontrunner not long ago but here we are

by Anonymousreply 589June 9, 2025 3:00 AM

R582 - Groff won fucking last year - he didn't possibly think he'd win back-to-back TONYs.

by Anonymousreply 590June 9, 2025 3:00 AM

🥳 good for her

by Anonymousreply 591June 9, 2025 3:00 AM

Angela Bassett disguised herself as Tom Francis just for the reaction.

by Anonymousreply 592June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

Okay, I scoffed about Oprah being here, but that joke was worth it.

by Anonymousreply 593June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

NICOLE!!!

by Anonymousreply 594June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

who is it?

by Anonymousreply 595June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

Nicole!!! Big night for the Asians.

by Anonymousreply 596June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

Jasmine Amy Rogers surprise win please...

damn it,, it's nicole

by Anonymousreply 597June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

Really? Nicole? She does have a good voice but...

by Anonymousreply 598June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

Oh well, Audra can't win everything.

by Anonymousreply 599June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

good for Scherzy!

by Anonymousreply 600June 9, 2025 3:01 AM

Damn. My money was on Helen Lawson.

by Anonymousreply 601June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

Patti Lupone cheered the loudest !

by Anonymousreply 602June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

The Tonys hate consecutive winners. Well except Kara Young.

by Anonymousreply 603June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

Nicole was always the frontrunner. The win isn’t just for best singing

by Anonymousreply 604June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

Nicole!

I told you so.

by Anonymousreply 605June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

R593 what was the joke? I was reading this thread and missed it.

by Anonymousreply 606June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

How is Hilty on stage? She went to my high school.

by Anonymousreply 607June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

Eff Oprah. Leave Patti alone.

by Anonymousreply 608June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

You said R588?

by Anonymousreply 609June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

Nicole Chadwicked Audra !!!!!

by Anonymousreply 610June 9, 2025 3:02 AM

Jesus Nicole - when did she get so ghetto? It doesn't work.

by Anonymousreply 611June 9, 2025 3:03 AM

Ok, Nicole…

by Anonymousreply 612June 9, 2025 3:03 AM

The curse of the Sicilian Witch strikes again!

by Anonymousreply 613June 9, 2025 3:03 AM

So the "Oprah's awarding because a Black woman will win and the world is too woke" angle didn't really work out.

by Anonymousreply 614June 9, 2025 3:03 AM

Take back her Tony. Her waterworks are insufferable. Get it together, girl.

by Anonymousreply 615June 9, 2025 3:04 AM

I couldn't watch her speech. Did Tits McMAGA praise Trump?

by Anonymousreply 616June 9, 2025 3:05 AM

Maybe Happy Ending did look like the best one.

by Anonymousreply 617June 9, 2025 3:06 AM

Is Nicole backstage with her lawyer right now, renegotiating her contract to extend past July 13 ? I think so.

'Best Revival' and 'Best Actress in a musical' will not close the show on July 13.

by Anonymousreply 618June 9, 2025 3:08 AM

Nailed it as Effie!

by Anonymousreply 619June 9, 2025 3:11 AM

The camera work did Audra no favors, she scaled her performance big for the house and the camera should have kept her full body in the shot at all times — too many closeups.

by Anonymousreply 620June 9, 2025 3:14 AM

Good for Nicole but is she really MAGA or does she deny that? If so, I do wonder if, now that she’s got her Tony, she’ll feel more free to express her love of Dump.
