Will Patti LuPone be presenting?
Boop!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 8, 2025 4:29 PM |
No, but she'll be circling the theatre in an SUV, sharing her thoughts through her weapons grade megaphone.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 8, 2025 4:30 PM |
Happy Tony Awards Day to those who celebrate!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 8, 2025 4:30 PM |
Patti LuPone is scheduled to be at the 2025 Tony Awards, but her specific role is unclear. She is not listed as a presenter or host. The ceremony is being hosted by Cynthia Erivo. While there were concerns about LuPone's presence due to controversy surrounding her comments about Audra McDonald and Kecia Lewis, she has apologized and is scheduled to attend, though her specific role is not yet confirmed.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 8, 2025 4:31 PM |
She’ll be there but they’ll force her to wear a dunce cap.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 8, 2025 4:34 PM |
She'll be laughing at the LOSERS watching home alone on television! That always warms her heart.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 8, 2025 4:36 PM |
If that mental Spanish tranny can attend the Oscars then foul mouthed Patti should attend the Tonys.

Yes, she will be presenting hole to Audra!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 8, 2025 4:46 PM |
Patti will be introducing the "Boop" number live from the ice rink next door.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 8, 2025 4:47 PM |
There is no ice rink next door…it’s June, Rose.

I Dreamed A Dream, I Dreamed It For You Dear
I love that song!

Patrick McEnroe will not be in attendance tonight, due to his hair color and other reasons.

Butch Romero, Raymond Burr, Richard Chamberlain, or Hugh Jackman?

Jeremy Jordan for Best Actor in a Musical - 'Floyd Collins'
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 8, 2025 8:54 PM |
I realize that Mia is 80-years-old, but couldn’t she wear a nice pair of low heeled pumps?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 8, 2025 9:02 PM |
R26, some of us over 60 years old cannot wear the shoes we'd like to, because our bodies won't keep our balance steady. At 65, I am walking with a cane. Mia Farrow is 80 YEARS OLD. She's there, and she is walking on her own.
Give all of us a break.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 8, 2025 9:15 PM |
No need to be nasty R30.
I hope you trip over your ball sack.

Billy Porter always seems so grim.

Scarlett J cosplay is not his best look. He looked better as Aunt Pittypat in mourning dress…
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 8, 2025 9:54 PM |
Oh gawd, there’s Connie Chung pontificating about Asians in Broadway history. No, dear, The World of Suzie Wong was NOT groundbreaking.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 8, 2025 10:07 PM |
The Buena Vista number sounds exactly like everything I hear walking up Amsterdam Avenue on a Tuesday
Maybe, but the show is terrific.

Let's really not kid ourselves. There will be no Clooney acceptance speech.

R178 fuck off. We're facing fascism in this country. Idiot.

The audio sucks. I can barely hear the host although I guess that’s not such a bad thing.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | June 9, 2025 12:37 AM |
There's another thread going on right now that might be better suited to you if you want to debate "woke"-ism and discuss "murders in LA tonight".

Can the stage hands hook, Ms Lambert, and Ms. Enviro nose to nose?

This guy is straight !?

by Anonymous | reply 186 | June 9, 2025 12:40 AM |
Damn, Wikipedia is fast -- they've updated the Operation Mincemeat page already and he hasn't even finished his acceptance speech.

Bobby Darin looked nothing like this. Groff doesn’t even slightly sound nor resemble Darin.
by Anonymous | reply 192 | June 9, 2025 12:42 AM |
Bobby Darin "re-imagined for a contemporary audience."
by Anonymous | reply 193 | June 9, 2025 12:43 AM |
Oh good fuck I can't stand this phony queen's walk dancing and below average voice.
by Anonymous | reply 194 | June 9, 2025 12:43 AM |
Jonathan Groff sits on Keanu's face. I love it!
by Anonymous | reply 195 | June 9, 2025 12:43 AM |
Jonathan Groff is a star!
by Anonymous | reply 196 | June 9, 2025 12:43 AM |
Bobby Darrin wasn't quite like this
by Anonymous | reply 197 | June 9, 2025 12:44 AM |
If Bobby Darin saw this, he'd have another heart attack and die all over again.
by Anonymous | reply 198 | June 9, 2025 12:44 AM |
R192 It’s a play.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | June 9, 2025 12:44 AM |
Groff is just gay.
by Anonymous | reply 200 | June 9, 2025 12:44 AM |
R199 about Bobby. If you’re gonna make a play about him do it right. Enough with the bullshit. And Bobby wouldn’t climb on a man and assault him
by Anonymous | reply 201 | June 9, 2025 12:45 AM |
When Jonathan jumped onto seat, do we know who was seated?
by Anonymous | reply 202 | June 9, 2025 12:46 AM |
R199, it's a person singing Darin songs. That's all.
by Anonymous | reply 203 | June 9, 2025 12:46 AM |
Keanu.
by Anonymous | reply 204 | June 9, 2025 12:46 AM |
Is this the thread for the uninformed? Seriously, people on Datalounge used to know something about theater before posting.
In the show, Groff is explicitly not supposed to be Bobby Darin. He is playing Jonathan Groff in 2025, who goes back to explore Darin’s life and music.
by Anonymous | reply 205 | June 9, 2025 12:46 AM |
Just In Time deals with this cleverly…At the beginning of the show the announcer says, “ladies and gentlemen, Jonathan Groff!” So you never really expect him to do an impersonation.
by Anonymous | reply 206 | June 9, 2025 12:47 AM |
I'm counting the money I saved for not seeing Miss Groff make a fool of himself Dreadful performance.
by Anonymous | reply 207 | June 9, 2025 12:47 AM |
That Death Become Her number provided further proof that the Radio City Music Hall is just too fucking karge. It swallows up mudical numbers. FFS, they need to be brought back to a proper Broadway theater.
by Anonymous | reply 208 | June 9, 2025 12:47 AM |
Oh, people know the concept. They just can't stop criticizing it.

R179 and R173, The musical number looked great and I like that music. Earlier I was just commenting on the Documentary of the same name that was done some years ago. That music was also sublime. Ruben Gonzalez, Compay Segundo, and Ibrahim Ferrer. All of them, sadly are gone now. They were old when the documentary was made. Candela was on the album soundtrack too. It was fun seeing it staged with the dancers.

by Anonymous | reply 243 | June 9, 2025 12:59 AM |
Wrong answer R238. I hate when these performance bastardize the score, to prove they can hold a note.

The Pure Leaf boy needs a break between gown changes.
by Anonymous | reply 245 | June 9, 2025 12:59 AM |
r238 But why is she acting like she's the only person in the room who can hold a note?

R251: Apparently nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 257 | June 9, 2025 1:05 AM |

This Pirates of Penzance re-imagining is pretty interesting; inspired by Our Flag Means Death?
by Anonymous | reply 277 | June 9, 2025 1:13 AM |
This show embodies why Broadway is dead. Good god.
by Anonymous | reply 278 | June 9, 2025 1:13 AM |
Groff is an excellent performer and I look it as him paying homage to Bobby Darin. Of course he is nothing like Bobby Darin. Now. Bobby Darin adored Sinatra. He wanted to be just like Frank. Adored him. And Frank, well he was jealous of Bobby Darin and helped destroy his career. Now that's a story to tell.
by Anonymous | reply 279 | June 9, 2025 1:13 AM |
I’m not sure that was the best use of Pirates’ time.
by Anonymous | reply 280 | June 9, 2025 1:14 AM |
Dreadful
by Anonymous | reply 281 | June 9, 2025 1:15 AM |
Actually, if they had actually been tap dancing AND using the washboards as added percussion - that would have been pretty impressive. Otherwise ... BORING and unimaginative.

by Anonymous | reply 285 | June 9, 2025 1:17 AM |
R279 I mean, he was singing songs Bobby sang. He was dressed like him, I guess. But the style of performance couldn't be more different.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | June 9, 2025 1:17 AM |
The first act of Pirates was hilarious. The second act had wonderfully energetic choreography.
The excerpt highlighted neither.

R291 or Rex Smith even.
by Anonymous | reply 292 | June 9, 2025 1:21 AM |
The shamelessly long “hooooooooooome” near the end of "With One Look" visited a few zones of pitch and tone quality.
by Anonymous | reply 293 | June 9, 2025 1:21 AM |
In the eyes at least, Ben Stiller is now looking like Tim Bagley.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | June 9, 2025 1:21 AM |
Ooo, Purpose! Sadie Sink was in a Godzilla movie, no?
by Anonymous | reply 295 | June 9, 2025 1:22 AM |

Oh, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | June 9, 2025 1:22 AM |
Purpose!
by Anonymous | reply 297 | June 9, 2025 1:23 AM |
This is all REALLY BAD. Quite ironic when this was apprently a great Broadway season.

Sidestepping the whole Lupone drama is a big mistake, especially since it was the major topic of discussion on the red carpet. You know it's the only reason many have tuned in.
Maybe they'll have Lupone present Best Musical.
Otherwise, talk about blowing a major opportunity.

Thank God it's being ignored. And, no, the gay Super Bowl would have the same viewership, few outside viewers. Everyone else is tuned into the NBA finals on ABC.
by Anonymous | reply 325 | June 9, 2025 1:34 AM |
sound quality is horrible, r309, because it's pre-recorded and the sound guy doesn't know how to blend from the live mic moments.
Every song has been lip synched so far

The Tony awards have always been better when presented in a Broadway theater. For a few years, they were also at the Beacon, which was fine. Radio City is just too big. But those greedy motherfuckers who run the American Theatre Wing want to make a ton of money selling tickets at Radio City to the general public.

Ugggghhh, here she is boys, Ms. Miranda.
Where is the remote?
by Anonymous | reply 352 | June 9, 2025 1:47 AM |
I loathe Ms. Miranda with the heat of ten billion galaxies.
by Anonymous | reply 353 | June 9, 2025 1:48 AM |
And that’s why the only number I like in Hamilton is “You’ll Be Back.”
by Anonymous | reply 354 | June 9, 2025 1:48 AM |
Ms. Miranda insists upon herself.
by Anonymous | reply 355 | June 9, 2025 1:48 AM |

Who cares, r348? You seem as obsessed with ratings as Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 358 | June 9, 2025 1:49 AM |
God. I forgot THAT one was in it too. That fucking mauve dinner jacket.
by Anonymous | reply 359 | June 9, 2025 1:50 AM |
Yea, Hamilton!

Never understood the Hamilton phenomenon. It looks lame and overrated as hell.
by Anonymous | reply 362 | June 9, 2025 1:50 AM |
Dear Mother of God. Groff again. What did we do to deserve this?
by Anonymous | reply 363 | June 9, 2025 1:50 AM |
What a different world it was when Hamilton was new.
by Anonymous | reply 364 | June 9, 2025 1:50 AM |
It won't earn a dime from me R357 and by the way, it's been some 15 years, why hasn't it hit the silver screen?
by Anonymous | reply 365 | June 9, 2025 1:51 AM |
Now you did it, R 358. This is a thread where that person is not to be named.

Lin-Manuel FUCKING Miranda.

They enjoyed the performance, R371?
by Anonymous | reply 374 | June 9, 2025 1:53 AM |
The Maybe Happy Ending number cut through the noise of the others.... should serve the show well in drawing audiences.
by Anonymous | reply 375 | June 9, 2025 1:54 AM |
R369 I vote for cat that ate the canary shit eating grinned Miss Groff for the award
by Anonymous | reply 376 | June 9, 2025 1:54 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 379 | June 9, 2025 1:55 AM |
R348 the Tonys have never brought in big viewers. It’s for THEATRE fans and attendees. NYC Broadway specifically. NYC is one city in a massive country. Most people don’t care about it. It’s a niche audience
by Anonymous | reply 380 | June 9, 2025 1:56 AM |
Why wasn't Groff in the bows for Hamilton?
by Anonymous | reply 381 | June 9, 2025 1:56 AM |
Wow, more hate for Miranda than Groff & Criss - and they said it couldn’t be done. Remind me, who DO we like (males only)?
by Anonymous | reply 382 | June 9, 2025 1:56 AM |
I was once stuck listening to Hamilton for 6 hours on a road trip. The frauest frau show that ever fraued.

by Anonymous | reply 384 | June 9, 2025 1:56 AM |
R371 proof that you’re new and don’t know shit about Broadway.
Hamilton was MASSIVE when it came out. MASSIVE. It was sold out months in advance and people did wait lists for up to a year to get tickets.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | June 9, 2025 1:57 AM |
What is it with the self-loathing queens on this site? Bitching about Groff participating in a Hamilton reunion? He's been nominated for four Tonys, won one last year, and is still waiting to see if he won this year (he won't). He also spends a lot of time doing charity work. He's talented, handsome, and well-liked in the industry.
What have you accomplished other than keeping your bartender employed?
by Anonymous | reply 386 | June 9, 2025 1:58 AM |
All the other plays had much much much better direction!

True story about a man stuck in a cave and the media circus surrounding his attempted rescue. Inspired the Kirk Douglas movie Ace in the Hole.

Ummm ... did you notice how long it was before WICKED became a movie? And other huge shows like BOOK OF MORMON are older than HAMILTON and no movie is on the horizon.
Anyway, HAMILTON already had a filmed performance on Disney+.
by Anonymous | reply 395 | June 9, 2025 2:05 AM |
Nice speech. He seemed like he really practiced, but he really nailed it - didn't seem stagey.
by Anonymous | reply 396 | June 9, 2025 2:05 AM |
Bitch please. The gosh golly bullshit Groff tries to serve is all for show. Don't forget who his bestie is and there's no way you can be friends with a toxic nasty bitch like that and not share similar outlooks or attitudes.
by Anonymous | reply 397 | June 9, 2025 2:05 AM |

All because Patti LuPone told an interviewer that she was not a friend

SUNSET BLVD did the same thing when tickets first went on sale in 1994. It had the biggest box office advance in B'way history (at the time) .
by Anonymous | reply 410 | June 9, 2025 2:10 AM |
Song choice was weird but they sang it nicely.
by Anonymous | reply 411 | June 9, 2025 2:11 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 412 | June 9, 2025 2:11 AM |
It’s a shame that the “In Memoriam” segment became more about the singers than the people they’re supposedly honoring.
by Anonymous | reply 413 | June 9, 2025 2:12 AM |
I can understand keeping the Dead Outlaw, Operation Mincemeat and especially Gypsy performances near the end, to build excitement. But why even bother with the Real Women Have Curves performance? It's already lost both awards it was nominated for.
by Anonymous | reply 414 | June 9, 2025 2:12 AM |
Wrong R408. Gavin died MONTHS ago.
by Anonymous | reply 415 | June 9, 2025 2:12 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 443 | June 9, 2025 2:19 AM |
I'm sure the ratings will be high for this because of the Patti vs. Audra controversy.
Don't forget all the now-grown former teenage boys who had their posters on their walls.

Once more for the cheap seats in the back, Audra.
by Anonymous | reply 472 | June 9, 2025 2:31 AM |
Why do DLers say this is bad? She’s great
by Anonymous | reply 473 | June 9, 2025 2:31 AM |
Did Audra mess up the lyrics? Is she Leslie Uggams?
by Anonymous | reply 474 | June 9, 2025 2:31 AM |
Wow. Never seen so much scenery chewed in eight bars.
by Anonymous | reply 475 | June 9, 2025 2:31 AM |
I'm sorry. Iove Audra, but she has too much muchness, her voice is way too big for the song she is playing. I can hardly understand the lyrics of a song I am very familiar with. Gypsy has been a favorite of mine for years.

Jeez, how many people need to accept the award for Sunset Boulevard?
by Anonymous | reply 511 | June 9, 2025 2:38 AM |
Oh God, Audra! Madam Rose is not an angry middle=age Negro matron.
by Anonymous | reply 512 | June 9, 2025 2:38 AM |
Erivo is really trying, but it’s not landing. That was painful.
by Anonymous | reply 513 | June 9, 2025 2:38 AM |
Why do DLers say this is bad? She’s great
She’s sort of both, simultaneously.
by Anonymous | reply 520 | June 9, 2025 2:40 AM |
Watching Audra's performance made me want to jump into a time machine and return to 1991 to see Tyne Daly in GYPSY.
by Anonymous | reply 521 | June 9, 2025 2:40 AM |
Getting your bald head tattooed will be the next fashion.
by Anonymous | reply 522 | June 9, 2025 2:40 AM |
No it won't R522.
by Anonymous | reply 523 | June 9, 2025 2:41 AM |
Second Act Elmer McCurdy would have been a more lively host than Erivo.
by Anonymous | reply 524 | June 9, 2025 2:42 AM |
Did Audra mess up the lyrics?
yes. she went up
by Anonymous | reply 525 | June 9, 2025 2:42 AM |
The digital curtains are a nice effect.

Oprah presenting Lead Actress in a Musical.
by Anonymous | reply 527 | June 9, 2025 2:43 AM |
Why did this come to Broadway? This is British WW2 history Americans don't know/care about.
by Anonymous | reply 528 | June 9, 2025 2:43 AM |
Lot of dead people musicals it seems.
by Anonymous | reply 529 | June 9, 2025 2:43 AM |
This is not going to be over by 11:00.
by Anonymous | reply 530 | June 9, 2025 2:44 AM |
Watching Audra's performance made me want to jump into a time machine and return to 1991 to see Tyne Daly in GYPSY.
I'd set it back further to see Angela or Ethel.
by Anonymous | reply 531 | June 9, 2025 2:44 AM |
Patti presenting best actress in a musical would’ve been great.
by Anonymous | reply 532 | June 9, 2025 2:44 AM |
Audra just wanted to prove that she wasn't lip-syncing, so she messed up the lyrics and went hoarse at the end.
by Anonymous | reply 533 | June 9, 2025 2:44 AM |
I caught it first-where’s my fucking prize?
by Anonymous | reply 534 | June 9, 2025 2:44 AM |
Of course Oprah is presenting best actress in a musical
by Anonymous | reply 535 | June 9, 2025 2:45 AM |
"Madam Rose is not an angry middle=age Negro matron"
Do Louise and June perform on the Chitlin Circuit in this version?
Oprah presenting Lead Actress in a Musical.
Did she request this, in anticipation of an Audra win?
by Anonymous | reply 537 | June 9, 2025 2:45 AM |
Hosting awards shows is difficult for everyone. She's okay; not great, not terrible. I find her nose ring hard to look at, but I enjoyed her and Sara singing Tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 538 | June 9, 2025 2:45 AM |
Is Oprah presenting a tell?
by Anonymous | reply 539 | June 9, 2025 2:45 AM |
There's a Kiss of the Spider Woman movie with JLo?!
by Anonymous | reply 540 | June 9, 2025 2:46 AM |
I really enjoyed Operation Mincemeat. It’s doing better than a lot of shows Americans are supposed to know/care about. And Dear Bill is the most skillful, distinctive new song I’ve seen on Broadway in a long time.
by Anonymous | reply 541 | June 9, 2025 2:47 AM |
Not necessarily ...
by Anonymous | reply 542 | June 9, 2025 2:47 AM |
I saw Lupone perform Rose twice in 2006. The City Center and the Saint James theater. She came across exactly as depicted @R518. Yes, I agree. Both times she absolutely stopped the show.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | June 9, 2025 2:47 AM |
That performance of "Rose's Turn" was exactly why I've been avoiding this revival. Cue all the people telling us why it's so much better in context.
by Anonymous | reply 544 | June 9, 2025 2:48 AM |
This may be a Chadwick Boseman moment when they announce 'Best Actress' in a musical. Remember when they saved his category last at the Oscars - and he lost ? I can't wait to see the look on Oprah's face when she reads off Nicole's name and not Audra.
by Anonymous | reply 545 | June 9, 2025 2:48 AM |
I enjoyed the movie Operation Mincemeat. It had a great cast.
by Anonymous | reply 546 | June 9, 2025 2:49 AM |
I saw LuPone six rows back... will never forget it.
by Anonymous | reply 547 | June 9, 2025 2:49 AM |
Oprah was backstage @ Sunset - with Gayle - and gushing.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | June 9, 2025 2:49 AM |
R518 Thanks for sharing. No wonder why Lupone didn't comment on Audra's performance in the interview. She did the right thing.
by Anonymous | reply 549 | June 9, 2025 2:51 AM |
Did she request this, in anticipation of an Audra win?
No she requested this in anticipation of a black woman winning.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | June 9, 2025 2:51 AM |
The time they gave to Hamilton should have been given to Boop, dammit.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | June 9, 2025 2:51 AM |
I was LuPone six rows back, behind Kelsey Grammer and Jon Voight and their dates. I will never forget it, but I wish I could.
by Anonymous | reply 552 | June 9, 2025 2:51 AM |
Why is the Curves show allowed to present when Boop!, which has an actual nominee, wasn't?
by Anonymous | reply 553 | June 9, 2025 2:51 AM |
Lawanda Page as Rose Hovick.
by Anonymous | reply 554 | June 9, 2025 2:51 AM |
Audra and this iteration of Gypsy were not well reviewed as I recall.
by Anonymous | reply 555 | June 9, 2025 2:52 AM |
Your recall is off.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | June 9, 2025 2:53 AM |
And the winner is .... LaLa Land!
by Anonymous | reply 557 | June 9, 2025 2:53 AM |
Criss!
by Anonymous | reply 558 | June 9, 2025 2:54 AM |
Did we really need another revival of Gypsy?
by Anonymous | reply 559 | June 9, 2025 2:54 AM |

Nathan Lane is Rose!
Cole Escola is Louise!
Hugh Jackman is June!
and starring Miss Glenn Close as Mr. Goldstone in the lost scenes recently discovered in the vaults of the theater. Coincidentally by Miss Close.

He's definitely gay, please.
by Anonymous | reply 568 | June 9, 2025 2:55 AM |
R474, you're probably the only one who caught that, whenever it was. I'm sure everyone in the audience, both in the theater and at home had tuned her out by that point.
by Anonymous | reply 569 | June 9, 2025 2:56 AM |
Kinda wow.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | June 9, 2025 2:56 AM |
Tom Francis is pissed.
by Anonymous | reply 571 | June 9, 2025 2:56 AM |
Who is the guy who didn't look pleased with Criss's win? Not that award losers have to look pleased.
by Anonymous | reply 572 | June 9, 2025 2:56 AM |
Cast an Oscar for future EGOT Darren Criss. That's 3 Glee alumni with Tonys not named Lea Michele.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | June 9, 2025 2:56 AM |
No way he mounts that wife and goes to town to create 3 babies.
by Anonymous | reply 574 | June 9, 2025 2:57 AM |
Any of the other guys beside Jonathan Groff deserved this.
Groff doesn’t look thrilled either
by Anonymous | reply 575 | June 9, 2025 2:57 AM |
Tom Francis, Sunset Boulevard, R572.
by Anonymous | reply 576 | June 9, 2025 2:57 AM |
Darren Criss is so hungry.
by Anonymous | reply 577 | June 9, 2025 2:57 AM |
R569, we were all covering our ears.
by Anonymous | reply 578 | June 9, 2025 2:57 AM |
Darren Criss? Please I've seen better robotic acting on an average episode of Black Mirror.
by Anonymous | reply 579 | June 9, 2025 2:57 AM |
Jonathan Groff looked disappointed.
by Anonymous | reply 580 | June 9, 2025 2:58 AM |
R572 - I saw that - He was so salty from losing I could taste it from my living room. He was NOT happy.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | June 9, 2025 2:58 AM |
Groffsauce looked bummed
by Anonymous | reply 582 | June 9, 2025 2:58 AM |
That's now Tony [italic]nominee[/italic] Tom Francis.

How long until Cole Escola plays Mama Rose in yet another revival?
by Anonymous | reply 584 | June 9, 2025 2:59 AM |
Why was Audra so off key?
by Anonymous | reply 585 | June 9, 2025 2:59 AM |
Here we go…
by Anonymous | reply 586 | June 9, 2025 2:59 AM |
Tom Francis was bullshit about his loss. The look on his face was almost as bad as Angela Bassett's at the Oscars. Almost.
by Anonymous | reply 587 | June 9, 2025 2:59 AM |
I’m admittedly Team Audra, but now I want to see her win just to see Datalounge collectively explode.
by Anonymous | reply 588 | June 9, 2025 2:59 AM |
Tom Francis was the frontrunner not long ago but here we are
by Anonymous | reply 589 | June 9, 2025 3:00 AM |
R582 - Groff won fucking last year - he didn't possibly think he'd win back-to-back TONYs.
by Anonymous | reply 590 | June 9, 2025 3:00 AM |
🥳 good for her
by Anonymous | reply 591 | June 9, 2025 3:00 AM |
Angela Bassett disguised herself as Tom Francis just for the reaction.
by Anonymous | reply 592 | June 9, 2025 3:01 AM |
Okay, I scoffed about Oprah being here, but that joke was worth it.
by Anonymous | reply 593 | June 9, 2025 3:01 AM |
NICOLE!!!
by Anonymous | reply 594 | June 9, 2025 3:01 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 597 | June 9, 2025 3:01 AM |
Really? Nicole? She does have a good voice but...
by Anonymous | reply 598 | June 9, 2025 3:01 AM |
Oh well, Audra can't win everything.
by Anonymous | reply 599 | June 9, 2025 3:01 AM |
good for Scherzy!
by Anonymous | reply 600 | June 9, 2025 3:01 AM |
Damn. My money was on Helen Lawson.
by Anonymous | reply 601 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
Patti Lupone cheered the loudest !
by Anonymous | reply 602 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
The Tonys hate consecutive winners. Well except Kara Young.
by Anonymous | reply 603 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
Nicole was always the frontrunner. The win isn’t just for best singing
by Anonymous | reply 604 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
Nicole!
I told you so.
by Anonymous | reply 605 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
R593 what was the joke? I was reading this thread and missed it.
by Anonymous | reply 606 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
How is Hilty on stage? She went to my high school.
by Anonymous | reply 607 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
Eff Oprah. Leave Patti alone.
by Anonymous | reply 608 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
You said R588?
by Anonymous | reply 609 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
Nicole Chadwicked Audra !!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 610 | June 9, 2025 3:02 AM |
Jesus Nicole - when did she get so ghetto? It doesn't work.
by Anonymous | reply 611 | June 9, 2025 3:03 AM |
Ok, Nicole…

The curse of the Sicilian Witch strikes again!
by Anonymous | reply 613 | June 9, 2025 3:03 AM |
So the "Oprah's awarding because a Black woman will win and the world is too woke" angle didn't really work out.
by Anonymous | reply 614 | June 9, 2025 3:03 AM |
Take back her Tony. Her waterworks are insufferable. Get it together, girl.
by Anonymous | reply 615 | June 9, 2025 3:04 AM |
I couldn't watch her speech. Did Tits McMAGA praise Trump?
by Anonymous | reply 616 | June 9, 2025 3:05 AM |
Maybe Happy Ending did look like the best one.
by Anonymous | reply 617 | June 9, 2025 3:06 AM |
Is Nicole backstage with her lawyer right now, renegotiating her contract to extend past July 13 ? I think so.
'Best Revival' and 'Best Actress in a musical' will not close the show on July 13.
by Anonymous | reply 618 | June 9, 2025 3:08 AM |
Nailed it as Effie!
by Anonymous | reply 619 | June 9, 2025 3:11 AM |
The camera work did Audra no favors, she scaled her performance big for the house and the camera should have kept her full body in the shot at all times — too many closeups.
by Anonymous | reply 620 | June 9, 2025 3:14 AM |
Good for Nicole but is she really MAGA or does she deny that? If so, I do wonder if, now that she’s got her Tony, she’ll feel more free to express her love of Dump.
