When Quai Branly in Paris opened, it was accused of perpetrating exoticism and orientalism because its designed emphasized theatricality. Even though many of these sculptures objects were ceremonial, to be used in performance.
The Met decided the only way to avoid similar accusations of racism is to turn their galleries into an Apple Store.
Gleaming white surfaces, sharp angles, flat surfaces. They treated the African art like taxidermied specimens.
And of all the colors - white. Everywhere.

R7 - god you're an idiot - an art gallery is where art is displayed. Gallery does not mean it is necessarily for sale. Museum galleries for crying out loud.
Stop looking for racism everywhere.
The absence of color is to showcase pieces - nobody says anything about Asian or Latin art being displayed in a white atmosphere.
Most galleries do not have windows on purpose as sun can damage the objects. White reflects the light designed to display the objects. God, you're dumb.
