Cheesecake Factory slammed for ‘shrinkflation’ new Cheesecake portion sizes

Fat whores, it's time to revolt !

Cheesecake Factory is apparently skimping on their cheesecake portion sizes amid the 'shrinkflation' crisis, according to customers. CF whistle-blowers on Reddit say they halved the portions these days on cheesecake slices, yet raised the prices. Another patron said though the sizes they are serving are notably smaller, their calorie count has not been updated on their website. They say this has been going on for the past five years, since the pandemic.

One diner recalled not too long ago, she would order a slice at the restaurant after her dinner, but could only eat half. She'd bring the rest home and finish it the next day for dessert. When she was there recently, the size was so small, she finished the slice at the restaurant.

Looking it up, the local cheesecake factory here charges 12.50 a slice for cheesecake. Given the volume they make, they should be able to give a good sized slice for that price.

There's a CF very close to my neighborhood which opened 25 years ago. I can count on one hand how many times I've been there - and I believe I only ordered their cheesecake the first time. I've never been impressed with their menu, their service, nor their cheesecake. I couldn't understand the attraction - the first few years the line was around the block of large groups (mostly college kids) to get in. (I had a friend at the time who was a server there - lasted exactly one year because he made no money...found out the hard way you work your ass off and college kids 'do not tip').

Last time I went was exactly a year ago, to meet a friend of mine who was in town for a couple of days for a graduation, and was staying at the hotel nearby. It was as awful as I remembered it from years earlier. When I met my friend last year on a Friday night, there was no line. No waiting. No bar crowd. We walked right in and got a table. I'm set for the next five years.

I hate being ripped off. I take it personally.

Corporate greed

Portion size means everything to many Americans. They have to feel like they're getting value for their money, and that translates to portion size.

Costco is also notorious for shinkflation. Their prepared shrimp salad is about 2/3 the size of it was two years ago but still costs $2.00 more than two years ago.

I make like Dionne Warwick and just "walk on by."

Must be all the tariffs on cheesecake!

by Anonymousreply 8June 7, 2025 4:16 PM

r6 Ok

by Anonymousreply 9June 7, 2025 4:16 PM

An oversized portion of cheesecake sold at 12:50 and providing two satisfying servings is only six dollars and twenty five cents per serving excluding tax and tip.

r10 Ok cool

by Anonymousreply 11June 7, 2025 4:27 PM

OK. Blocked.

by Anonymousreply 12June 7, 2025 4:31 PM

Good. Most people in this country need to lower their A1C like that sassy black woman in the Jardiance commercial.

What am I, R13? Chopped liver?

by Anonymousreply 14June 7, 2025 5:06 PM

"Sleepy Joe/Actually Dead Robot Joe is to blame. Our President Trump will order the Cheesecake Factory to make portions American again. And he will make sure that no foreign cheesecake factories take ours over!"

by Anonymousreply 15June 7, 2025 5:07 PM

But calories have increased to 5000/slice

I'm going back 40 years ago, but I worked in a bakery/ cafe which was known all over the region for their cheesecakes. It was a decent sized slice, available in a variety of flavors: Plain, Chocolate, Marble, Amaretto and Cappuccino. The plain was $1.50 a slice while the flavored ones were $1.75 a slice. We also had (canned) fruit toppings for them - cherry, strawberry and blueberry which was another fifty cents for a very generous scoop. A whole plain cheesecake was $15 (16 slices) and a whole flavored cheesecake was $22,00. If you wanted topping for the whole cake, we gave a half pint for $2.00 more.

They were incredibly popular, we sold out every day - but with every slice we sold, the customer complained about the price and said they'd never come back again...only to return the following week for the same thing.

Today, the CF is charging $9.99 - $12.99 for the same exact size slice of cheesecake. For a whole one in my area, their menu says $70.

I prefer the sponge cake base for my cheesecakes. CCF only uses Graham cracker crust bases, which I don't like.

by Anonymousreply 20June 7, 2025 7:53 PM

I haven't been back there since they served me a frosty piece of cheesecake that was frozen in the middle.

by Anonymousreply 21June 8, 2025 3:39 AM

Say what you want, but you can can eating anything there. Avocado egg rolls, steak Diane, huevos rancheros. However, you can’t microwave a salad. So there’s that if you are weary of the kitchen being a collection of freezers with bags.

Hands on hips R21 has stated her boundaries on cheesecake slice temperatures and is telling CF now so she doesn't have to then. And those bitches better listen good.

by Anonymousreply 23June 8, 2025 3:55 AM

Can eat anything* excuse my fat whore fingers
