Yes, the show Sex And The City was a factor in the gentrification of Bleecker Street and the Meatpacking District. But she didn't write the stories of the show, she portrayed a character in it. And nobody foresaw that it would lure tourists by the droves and accelerate the gentrification of those neighborhoods. Mayor Bloomberg's community boards changing the zoning laws were the primary factor.
