I have Covid!
I can’t believe it…I haven’t even thought about Covid in months. I thought something was up when I slept 11 hours last night. When I started getting a fever, I dug out one of my Covid kits. I took the test twice, and tested positive both times.
Is anyone else getting this? None of my friends has it. I’m located in Hell’s Kitchen, in NYC.
No, you can’t have my stuff.

Yes.

I hope you feel a lot better soon. I’m probably gonna have to dig up a test as well. My hubby and I seem to have picked up something and we are extra tired.

My friends mother was admitted to hospital with it on the weekend, intubated Sunday night, and died Monday morning. It’s still out there and killing people.

I am vaccinated and boosted. I had it for new years. I was furious. The very strangest symptom was ravaging hunger. So hungry! Could not stop eating and everything was tasteless!

R4 Same here. Strangest symptom for me was loss of smell.

You're the third case I've heard of in the neighborhood this week, OP.
I hope you're feeling better.

A couple weeks ago I had about a week of fatigue and malaise. So I figured it was Covid. I've had it about 4 times in the last five years, but never get the respiratory issues. Just fever, wiped out and diarrhea (once involved nausea).

I haven't been boosted in about 2 years, at least. I wonder if it's still covered by insurance.
My insurance sucks, which is why I'll be changing it at Open Enrollment.

Any suggestions for obtaining free home tests?
Thanks.

Free home tests were axed in March. Once again, Trump’s timing is right on point to cause harm.

If you have Medicare part B, Walgreens offers free test kits. They also accept some other types of insurance.

Hence my question, r11; tell me something I don't already know. SMH
Thanks for your informative answer, R12.

My aunt died from it a couple of months ago. She was in her 90s and her health was failing but death was not imminent. We assume she caught it while at a medical appointment. Took her out fast.

I had dinner with a Manhattan “art scene” friend who’s always out seeing or doing something, and he mentioned he knows five people in the city who all got Covid in the past few weeks.
It’s far from over.

I had it in early March for the first time after eight Covid shots, tested positive, felt crappy for 3 or 4 days but never spent a day in bed.
My husband, similarly vaccinated, got it then too, felt like shit for a month, and still tires too easily and gets short of breath.

OP, get a prescription for Paxlovid TODAY!
I'm telling you, it's a miracle drug. Within 24 hours, you'll feel back to normal. Be aware you'll still be contagious and will need to take a COVID test in 3 to 5 days to ensure you test negative, but at least you'll feel 100% in a very short time.

Covid is not over and we're experiencing a mild surge right now, typical for early summer. Still, it's much less of a threat these days. OP proves that it's not entirely gone, though. Similar to the flu it will probably remain endemic with seasonal spikes

R18 is right, Paxlovid makes a huge difference. As soon as you test positive, call your doctor and get a prescription for it (unless you've already been sick for several days, in which case it won't help as much).
