Richard Pryor

I've been watching some of his films lately like Harlem Nights (brilliantly hilarious), Moving (atrocious), Which Way Is Up?, Stir Crazy (my childhood fave), The Toy, Critical Condition (another stinker), Superman 3 (what were they thinking?), Brewster's Millions, etc...

I was just wondering one thing...

Why is he always so scared in all his films?

Every film has a scene where he is practically petrified with terror as his comedy schtick?

Was it really popular to go to the movies to see Richard be absolutely scared of his own shadow in his latest picture?
