Can we stop playing games and just admit Jake Tapper is full on MAGA now?
I said it a while back before his Biden book, Tapper has been really leaning into Trump propaganda. His focus is all about distraction instead of what's going on NOW with our current president and convicted felon, all he wants to do is talk Biden, Biden, Biden. Yesterday, while flipping the channels stumbled on CNN Bill Maher, and you guessed it, his guest was Jack Tapper pushing that book.
[bold]I said it before and I will say it again. Jake Tapper and Bill Maher are the Morning Joe of CNN.

Yes, we know, but a day late and a dollar short, all that info about Biden was public. The point is why now? Biden is out of office, the stuff Trump is doing is a LOT more important than some made up scandal about Biden being too old. WE ALL KNEW THAT. It was talked about endlessly before he stepped down from running. It's not a scandal, it's a money grab for a book deal.

The vast majority of the press refused to cover Biden’s declining state until it was too obvious to continue gaslighting the public about because Trump was too great a threat to the country.
Then it all imploded with the debate on an international stage, sinking the press’s remaining credibility and forcing a last-minute substitution who had never won even a primary, opening the door to a decisive Trump victory, leaving Republicans with the Presidency, the Senate, and the House.
BUT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO IGNORE IT HAPPENED!!!

Unlike you, OP, I can actually hold two thoughts in my head at the same time. So I can focus on the horrors of Trump while ALSO acknowledging the Biden cover up. Screaming about how we need to focus on the NOW makes you no better than Republicans who pretended January 6 never happened to "focus on the now." People love saying that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it--so maybe we should take a good hard look at what happened with Biden so it never happens again. And without doing that, why would voters-- who soundly rejected Dems in 2024--believe they're offering anything different in 2028? This is the exact conversation we should be having and NOW is the time to be having it so we can regroup before the next election.

First of all, did ANY of us for Biden in 2024? Why would Tapper have voted for him. HE WASN'T ON THE BALLOT!
r9, could his actually statement have been, "I was not planning to vote for Biden in 2024", or something of the like?. Actual quotes and words within their context and the years in which they were uttered matter very much.
I think most Democrats were very concerned about Biden's age and general health once it became clear that Trump was going to be the Republican nominee again. (That was not clear in the fall of 2023, or even early spring 2024, although most Americans have already forgotten that - among other things, Trump was under numerous criminal indictments). In an ideal world, we'd have had a selection from among younger and more vigorous candidates. But except where term-limited, it's been the normal procedure throughout most of US history for a sitting president in his first term to run again. Among other things, it prevents the automatic lame-duck effect of the last 2 years of a first-term president's time in office. So it would have been a real breach of tradition for the Democratic party to insist that Biden step aside to make way for another candidate. It was his decision to stay in the race until it became clear that he was not up to a second term. Moreover, Biden had a certain sway among certain groups that have been moving away from the Democratic party, such as older working class/blue collar white voters - a sway that no other candidate could claim to have appeal with.

Joe Biden could have been the robust picture of health with a mind as sharp as a tack a year ago and it would not have mattered to Tapper and the rest of the braying MSM. They wanted Trump back after bothsidesing Biden for his entire term.
Notice how none of them ever interview Biden supporters now the way they (especially the Wash. Post) interviewed Trump voters in diners throughout Biden’s term? Because they look down on Democrats and want Republicans to love them. It’s some kind of bizarre and twisted daddy complex that the hacks in the MSM have been infected with. Oh, there may be a few real journalists left but their investigations sink like a stone while the Jake Tappers of the world preen and pander.

I think Tapper fancies himself the next Bob Woodward instead of the overblown hack he is. There was no $$ to be made in what a loon Trump is - everyone already knew that. But I do think there was a legitimate question about how Biden's deterioration was covered up for so long (until it wasn't)

Joe Biden was a decent and principled man who unfortunately has dementia and physical health problems. I defended him to people when he made gaffes, arguing that he had a stammer and he simply gets words jumbled sometimes, but it was obviously a lot worse than that.
Watching from the UK, the United States is hyper partisan in every single way possible. Democrat supporting news clearly wanted the story to go away and actively covered it up. I understand the motive but it was a cover up and the media was complicit.
And I know the instinctive response from a lot of Democrats will be BUT WHAT ABOUT FOX, WHAT ABOUT TRUMP'S DEMENTIA. And I agree, Fox is propaganda and Trump is deranged. But that doesn't stop Biden from being unfit to president.

The MSM not being honest about Biden is no excuse for their absolute complicity with Trump now. America was still America when Biden was in the White House. It is Nazi Germany 2.0 now, aided and abetted by the MSM. They are and have been enabling Trump every step of the way.
Now they are doubling down on Biden in an attempt to cover up that they are terrified that Trump will put them out of business (or in prison) if they cross him and/or that they only exist to serve their oligarch masters. Some of you are falling for it. Wake the fuck up, the press is not the “messenger.” If they had actually done their job, Trump would never have gotten anywhere near the White House in the first place nine years ago.

I've never registered with either party and never will. There's a baseline level of corruption in ANY political party that's been around for more than a few years.
However, anyone who suggests that "both sides are equally bad" is an idiot. ONE side is actively trying to end our democracy. ONE side took away bodily autonomy from women. ONE side enthusiastically voted for a criminal rapist to be president.
I hate Republicans with every fiber of my being. I'd have voted for Biden in a literal COMA over Trump. Wouldn't even have to think about it. So cram your book up your stupid both sides ASS, Jake Tapper.

The problem is not Jake Tapper, it's the hundreds and hundreds of Democrat representatives and officials who were aware of Biden's decline but refused to speak out because they didn't want to damage their careers. Even worse are the crew of Newsom, Whitmer, Buttigieg etc who will be begging for your vote in a couple of years, who could have spoken up and forced a primary with debates that would have ended the Biden candidacy much earlier and given the party a decent shot at the election. They are more responsible for Trump being a two-term president than Jake Tapper or other journalists.

And now we see the rationale behind the media obsession with old, senile Joe: Comer: "If these executive orders were just done and authorized by staff, and Joe Biden's signature was forged on the autopen as some would believe, then I think the Trump administration is gonna have a pretty good standing in court to get rid of a lot of these executive orders."
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 4, 2025 1:33 PM

The obsession is warranted. Sharp as a Tack Joe was far from it for at least the last two years of his presidency. It was so fucking obvious yet elected officials who should have put the people first, lied through their teeth about it the whole time. Our Pravda MSM was the democratic party's propaganda machine. Presidential decisions were being made by God the fuck knows, including the executive orders. This is a major derailment of the executive branch with the collusion of sworn elected officials and the MSM. It needs to be investigated fully and those who broke any laws arraigned.

r66 Glad to identify you as someone who gets all his talking points from FOX news.
One of the reasons that people were not concerned about Biden's mental state was that from the beginning of his term, he surrounded himself with highly competent people, whose combined expertise and experience led the nation to feeling confident in their performance. Can you think of a single major controversy involving any of his cabinet picks, for instance?
Compare that to Pete Hegseth, Kristi Noem, RFK, Jr, , Tulsi Gabbard, Mike Walz, Pam Bondi, Doug Burgum, Linda McMahon., for starters. And Elon Musk? Thousands of books could be written about the damage he has done to our country.
There's no evidence that executive orders signed by Biden in the last year of his term were scary or dangerous or in any way deleterious to the US economy or welfare of the nation. In 2023 and 2024 he signed far fewer executive orders than he did in 2021 and 2022. Most of the executive orders of January 2025 had to do with Cyber security and succession to the Trump Administration. Many of those have been revoked by Trump, who has gutted Cyber security completely, because apparently Russia and China are now our best friends, and Canada, Britain, France and Germany are our sworn enemies.
Contrast that to the 150 executive orders MOSTLY WRITTEN BY PROJECT 2025 and signed by Donald Trump in his first 4 months.
In 4 years, Joe Biden signed 162 executive orders. In the first 4 months, Trump has signed 157. Which of these two numbers are more frightening?
