Season two of Space/ 1999 had many problems, not the least of which was the jettisoning of three great characters: Victor, Kano, and sexy, mustachioed Paul. Sandra and Dr. Matthias left after the first two episodes.

The show did not get a third season, deservedly so.

Ginny?

Former neighbor, you say?

Don’t recall her.

by Anonymousreply 5June 1, 2025 9:54 PM

Did Belle end up in Mel's chili?

by Anonymousreply 6June 1, 2025 10:01 PM

I’m STILL forgotten?

Gil Grissom

by Anonymousreply 8June 1, 2025 10:15 PM

Didn't we have this discussion not too long ago?

Anyway, Seven from "Married with Children." He showed up at the Bundy household one season, and was gone the next without explanation. His picture did, however, turn up on thw side of a milk carton.

Wasn’t there a daughter who was “disappeared” from the cast of Family Matters? Also, Rose’s daughter, Tiffany, was similarly removed from 227.

They could’ve brought Chuck back instead of adding Heather O’Rourke.

Cousin Oliver didn’t disappear.

The series was cancelled, saving Sherwood Schwartz the trouble of firing Robbie Rist.

by Anonymousreply 13June 1, 2025 11:33 PM

Trouble? JOY.

by Anonymousreply 14June 2, 2025 12:04 AM

Bobby Martin, last seen in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania.

He disappeared after going to the attic of his parent's home and was erased from his family's memory.

by Anonymousreply 15June 2, 2025 12:08 AM

I wonder if AI will soon allow fans to insert episodes to explain the characters’ fates.

I would have Lana flee to a convent, driven mad by her unrequited lust for Jack, only to find her inner lesbian, whose lust was not only matched but surpassed by the other sisters.

Mr, Furley, still smitten, watches the hot nun action through binoculars while crying in his car.

Was Countess Vaughn's character's departure from 227 ever explained?

by Anonymousreply 17June 2, 2025 1:02 AM

Mike Douglas from "My Three Sons." Got married and was never heard from or even mentioned again.

by Anonymousreply 18June 2, 2025 1:06 AM

Irene and Frank Lorenzo on ALL IN THE FAMILY

by Anonymousreply 19June 2, 2025 1:34 AM

Irene remarried and moved to Florida. When she found out she was dying she put an ad in the personals and invited Sophia Petrillo to be part of a throuple and then replace her when she died.

by Anonymousreply 20June 2, 2025 4:58 PM

R10, Judy Winslow was written out of the show as the writers had nowhere to go with that character and needed to make room for Steve Urkel.

by Anonymousreply 21June 2, 2025 5:02 PM

One of the kids on Step by Step disappeared as well.

Like Cold Case, I watched it in its original run. They're just too damn sad for me now.

On [italic]Green Acres[/italic], Oliver's new law partner Brian Williams (played by Rick Lenz), shown as a walk-on arriving on a train in one episode, then featured in two or three episodes, then gone forever.

Grace Lee Whitney- Janice Rand Original Star Trek

Set up as Kirk’s love interest the character disappeared without explanation before the end of season 1.

She reappeared 13 years later for a brief cameo in Star Trek the Motion Picture.

by Anonymousreply 27June 2, 2025 6:54 PM

Meghan Markle on Fringe, being set up as an ongoing or recurring character then, whosh, gone

by Anonymousreply 28June 2, 2025 7:49 PM

Taxi- John Burns as Randall Carver. The pilot made it seem that this character would be second only to Judd Hirsch. Gone by the end of the first season. Never mentioned again.

Wings- Brian Haley as Budd Bronski. Brought on in season 7 to replace Lowell. Disappeared without explanation after only a few episodes.

by Anonymousreply 29June 2, 2025 8:09 PM

The kids from The Lucy Show evaporated in the fourth season.

David Birney, GW Bailey, Paul Sand- St Elsewhere. All 3 played great characters then poof, vanished never to be spoken of again.

by Anonymousreply 31June 2, 2025 9:23 PM

Gunsmoke-

Dennis Weaver left after 9 seasons. Not one of Chester’s good friends bothered to ask where he went.

Burt Reynolds. Quint came, he went, he was quickly forgotten.

Roger Ewing- Thad disappeared and no one noticed.

Dr. Morgan Winthrop on Another World. Where did he go? ORD? BNSD? Aunt Liz? SDFT?

by Anonymousreply 33June 2, 2025 9:48 PM

'Mandy Hampton' on West Wing vanished after the first season. I knew someone with the same name who looked like that character, so it made me wonder if the character was based on her. The girl slept with every guy in the business.

by Anonymousreply 34June 2, 2025 9:48 PM
Dr. Morgan Winthrop on Another World. Where did he go? ORD? BNSD? Aunt Liz? SDFT?

As I recall, he went out to have a cigarette and never returned.

Gil Favor - Rawhide.

by Anonymousreply 36June 2, 2025 9:55 PM

If we’re adding soap characters we’ll need 50 threads.

Oh well, Don Craig, Days of Our Lives.

I was team Don/Marlena. Fuck Roman Brady and John Black.

I’m still bitter.

by Anonymousreply 37June 2, 2025 10:00 PM

R36 great addition!

There were a couple of episodes featuring Favor’s daughters.

It would have been so easy to say Gil went back home to be with his family.

by Anonymousreply 38June 2, 2025 10:02 PM
Oh well, Don Craig, Days of Our Lives.

Don went out to mail a letter and somehow got lost, arriving in Santa Barbara 18 months later thinking his name was CC Capwell.

Wasn’t Chuck Cunningham killed in Korea?

by Anonymousreply 40June 2, 2025 11:49 PM
Was Countess Vaughn's character's departure from 227 ever explained?

She was replaced with Countess LuAnn and hilarity ensued.

by Anonymousreply 41June 3, 2025 12:02 AM

R40, there's an episode S2 that was only shown once. Chuck comes out as gay. Has a huge argument with Mr. & Mrs. C. Gives Potsie a passionate kiss, asks him to sit on it. Potsie says no. He settles for Ralph's Malph. Chuck moves to San Francisco. Has a cameo in Milk.

by Anonymousreply 42June 3, 2025 12:11 AM

Do characters who only appear in a pilot episode count?

by Anonymousreply 43June 3, 2025 12:15 AM

It wasn’t just Chuck Cunningham. Ask the Cunningham dining room set as well.

by Anonymousreply 44June 3, 2025 12:15 AM

McLean Stevenson, Rose Marie and Doris’ two kids on “The Doris Day Show,” after season three.

by Anonymousreply 45June 3, 2025 12:29 AM
Chuck Cunningham, Richie's older brother - Happy Days

We don't speak about that person any more.

by Anonymousreply 46June 3, 2025 12:53 AM

Chuck Cunningham and Dobie Gillis's older brother opened an Antique Store together in Vermont.

by Anonymousreply 47June 3, 2025 1:05 AM

Bill from Big Love. His youngest daughter with his first wife just disappeared towards the end of the show.

by Anonymousreply 48June 3, 2025 1:13 AM

Virgil, Carrie's surveillance sidekick in early seasons of "Homeland," disappeared shortly after bringing his "creepy little brother Max" into the fold.

by Anonymousreply 49June 3, 2025 2:10 AM

Without a Trace was a great series.

by Anonymousreply 50June 3, 2025 2:23 AM
Wasn’t Chuck Cunningham killed in Korea?

The Korean War (well, the US involvement in it anyway) was over before the period in which "Happy Days" was set.

by Anonymousreply 51June 3, 2025 2:26 AM

Chuck Cunningham was kidnapped by a small foreign faction. These things happen more often than you might think.

by Anonymousreply 52June 3, 2025 2:35 AM

No, Chuck was abducted by sex traffickers and branded. Duh!

by Anonymousreply 53June 3, 2025 2:59 AM

Wait, I thought Chuck was killed in a boating accident with Richie. Richie survived and went through a tremendous amount of guilt over Chuck's death and he was briefly hospitalized. Marion never seemed to forgive Richie and when he confronted her about never visiting him in the hospital and how he would have visited Chuck, Marion responded, "Chuck would never have been in the hospital!" After that episode the series took a decidedly lighter turn...

by Anonymousreply 54June 3, 2025 5:15 AM

r35 Aunt Liz, that's what I heard, that he went up to the roof to have a smoke and never came back. He was so hot. As with Danny Markel, I never got into Grayson's character on ATWT the way I did with his Bay City persona.

by Anonymousreply 55June 3, 2025 5:37 AM

Chuck died from the vaccine and the show covered it up!

Jerk older brothers don't just drop dead!

by Anonymousreply 56June 3, 2025 5:53 AM

Does this count?

Anne Marie Fairgate, called Annie, is the daughter of Sid Fairgate and Susan Philby. She made her first and only appearance in the pilot. She was portrayed by Karen Allen.

Karen Allen on Knots! Wouldn't you love to be an interviewer and ask her why she was kicked off and out of the cul-de-sac?

by Anonymousreply 57June 3, 2025 10:06 AM

Mo-Mo on Nurse Jackie.

Must have been the polio vaccine.

by Anonymousreply 60June 3, 2025 12:40 PM
Must have been the polio vaccine.

No, it was definitely the COVID vaccine. I know because I'm the head of the Office of Health and Human Services.

Loudon Wainwright III as singing Captain Calvin Spalding on MASH

by Anonymousreply 62June 4, 2025 12:14 AM

The Nanny. Fran Fines caterer sister Nadine. One episode and a couple of mentions and she was never heard from again in 7 seasons.

by Anonymousreply 63June 4, 2025 1:41 AM

If we're going to include things like that, we might as well mention Rhoda's sister Debbie.

by Anonymousreply 64June 4, 2025 2:47 AM

Well Lana Shields had the last laugh - Ann Wedgeworth won the Tony in 1978, after she left the show, I presume?

by Anonymousreply 65June 4, 2025 2:52 AM

Valerie Harper disappeared from " Valerie's Family."
