According to Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman, Frances McDormand is attached to play Patti LuPone in an upcoming biopic of the Broadway legend. No word yet on a director or which studio is backing this — assuming there even is one yet.
LuPone, of course, is a three-time Tony winner, but it’s hard to say how much mainstream interest there is in a full-blown biopic. That said, McDormand doesn’t sign onto just anything. If this thing ever gets off the ground, it might be worth keeping an eye on — if only to see McDormand go full diva.
McDormand hasn’t been on-screen much since 2021’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, directed by Joel Coen. She’s a six-time Oscar nominee and three-time winner — “Fargo,” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri,” and “Nomadland.”
