Do you think there is a distinction?

Is there a meaningful difference in terms of being a "sister-in-law" between:

1. Your husband's sister

2. Your brother's wife

3. Your husband's brother's wife

Apparently, some cultures make a big distinction between 1/2 and 3.

None of them take up the same space in the family tree.

3 is basically no relation. Not called an "in law"
