by Anonymousreply 1May 30, 2025 12:57 AM

I was wondering when it would start. I thought it would start midnight. 2 minutes left.

by Anonymousreply 2May 30, 2025 12:58 AM

I hate myself for loving to hate watch it.

It's truly the definition of a hate spiral.

by Anonymousreply 3May 30, 2025 1:01 AM

Finishing Hacks, first. Also, still digestig dinner so want to give it a fair chance.

by Anonymousreply 4May 30, 2025 1:01 AM

I love the show. Idc how bad it is it’s still entertaining

by Anonymousreply 5May 30, 2025 1:03 AM

Thank you for starting a thread, OP. I plan on hate watching later on.

by Anonymousreply 6May 30, 2025 1:07 AM

One more cocktail and I’ll be ready to watch.

by Anonymousreply 7May 30, 2025 1:10 AM

Omg Cynthia Nixon’s wig is so bad!

by Anonymousreply 11May 30, 2025 1:22 AM

Rosie O’Donnell and Miranda fuck

by Anonymousreply 12May 30, 2025 1:23 AM

Miranda fucked Rosie the virgin nun.
Who else will be watching!?

I'd rather get fingerblasted by Che Diaz

by Anonymousreply 15May 30, 2025 1:34 AM

R15. My ex wife Mawanda loves Che's fingahs.

carrie has phone sex w aiden

by Anonymousreply 17May 30, 2025 1:46 AM

How does Miranda age the best? CN aged better than all of them. SJP looks ok sometimes and other times she looks 85.

by Anonymousreply 18May 30, 2025 1:58 AM

I’m glad Cynthia got a party city wig before they went out of business!

by Anonymousreply 19May 30, 2025 2:00 AM

carrie's huge brownstone is lame

by Anonymousreply 20May 30, 2025 2:01 AM

R20 Did she renovate the old one?

by Anonymousreply 21May 30, 2025 2:03 AM

I’m calling it. Time of death: 5/29/25; 9:57pm.

by Anonymousreply 22May 30, 2025 2:03 AM

R21 she sold it.

by Anonymousreply 23May 30, 2025 2:04 AM

R18 they don’t have the same genetics.

by Anonymousreply 24May 30, 2025 2:04 AM

R24 duh but I would’ve never guessed that Cynthia Nixon would have aged better than the rest, especially Kristen Davis.

by Anonymousreply 25May 30, 2025 2:06 AM

Isn't Cynthia married to Mason Reese?

by Anonymousreply 26May 30, 2025 2:07 AM

That episode was really good.

by Anonymousreply 27May 30, 2025 2:08 AM

r27 - no.

by Anonymousreply 28May 30, 2025 2:32 AM

R14, HR Puffinstuff called and he wants his fuckin' hat back.

by Anonymousreply 29May 30, 2025 2:40 AM

I liked it. I am broken hearted and ashamed, but I liked it. Seema's a whiny cunt, and the finger bang was killing me, but I liked it. Easy, amusing. If this was E1, S1, we'd be raving.

by Anonymousreply 30May 30, 2025 2:42 AM

I liked it too. It was very simple and easy and lighthearted. It felt like what season 1 should have felt like

by Anonymousreply 31May 30, 2025 2:43 AM

It was airless. I want grit. I want middle-class striving Carrie. Her manse is cringe.

by Anonymousreply 32May 30, 2025 2:45 AM

Grit? You must have never watched SATC.

Go watch Breaking Bad.

by Anonymousreply 33May 30, 2025 2:48 AM

WTF happened. This was a really good, really funny episode. Seema is officially Samantha and I love her. I hope this continues for the whole season.

by Anonymousreply 34May 30, 2025 2:51 AM

Seema is nothing like Samantha nor should she be like Samantha. She’s a different character.

by Anonymousreply 35May 30, 2025 2:53 AM

Feels like they retconned Charlotte’s daughter Rock being trans. They didn’t call her by name at all and she was dressed like a girl again etc.

by Anonymousreply 36May 30, 2025 3:04 AM

r36 Kids go through phases.

by Anonymousreply 37May 30, 2025 3:10 AM

R37 correct, which is why people rushing to put their 5 year olds on blockers needs to not happen.

by Anonymousreply 38May 30, 2025 3:12 AM

God that was even more boring and insufferable than I thought it was going to be.

by Anonymousreply 39May 30, 2025 3:43 AM

Is rosie the dyke from Winnipeg in this episode?

by Anonymousreply 40May 30, 2025 4:13 AM

Rosie O is playing a......what now?

by Anonymousreply 41May 30, 2025 4:28 AM

Samantha was never as arrogant as Seema.

by Anonymousreply 42May 30, 2025 4:30 AM

The “Sex and the City” women return for more antics as they navigate love in the Big Apple in their 50s

Ummmm...

Sarah Jessica Parker Born: March 25, 1965

by Anonymousreply 46May 30, 2025 4:54 AM

Michael Patrick King cannot write. He's lost his own thread.

by Anonymousreply 47May 30, 2025 4:58 AM

R46 I've been in my 60s for like 10 minutes you cunt.

by Anonymousreply 48May 30, 2025 5:08 AM

R45 you do know you can just not watch, right?

by Anonymousreply 49May 30, 2025 5:48 AM

R46 SJP is 60. Carrie isn’t.

by Anonymousreply 50May 30, 2025 5:49 AM

r49 I'm not watching, I was just stating a general truth, dear.

by Anonymousreply 51May 30, 2025 5:57 AM

The "Oh no" queen at the doggy day care cracked me up.

by Anonymousreply 53May 30, 2025 6:32 AM

Didn’t feel like a season premiere at all. Did they even explain Che and Nya’s departures?

by Anonymousreply 54May 30, 2025 11:08 AM

I was just listening to an interview with Michael Patrick King, and it strikes me how much he really doesn’t get it. He said that Sarah Jessica told him everyone was going to hate Carrie because of this ridiculous new home she has, but he told her she was crazy. That instead, everyone was gonna love Carrie because it’s aspirational. So tone deaf. It was both a weird and terrible choice to make every character ridiculously wealthy. In the same episode, you have the young woman saying that Miranda’s former townhouse was her goal. You have both Charlotte and LTW living in expansive Park Avenue apartments. No one even thinks about money. It’s simply not how New Yorkers, including very high net worth New Yorkers, live in 2025.

by Anonymousreply 55May 30, 2025 11:50 AM

Actually, let me clarify my statement. You could have a show where they are all ridiculously wealthy, if that were your thesis statement. For instance, Gossip Girl. But if you do that, you have to throw some other wrench in the plan, like they’re all in the thick of raising young kids. Or they have big jobs. Or they’re under some sort of serious threat. Whatever it is. But both the reason for existence and proof of concept of the SATC world was always that Carrie is in everywoman navigating modern New York. Now you have her in the. .01% without any real problem to speak of. A woman who didn’t have kids. Whose biological family has never given her problems. Who has moved from fantasy job to fantasy job with ease. It’s just a bad framework to begin with, and the less than stellar writing doesn’t help.

by Anonymousreply 56May 30, 2025 12:02 PM

Has Rosie ever played a character that wasn’t mentally retarded?

Also, she was playing a virgin nun who never had sex and her first time was with a political tilt a whirl?

I’m convinced MPK hates John Corbett because that phone sex scene was so incredibly cringe it was unwatchable.

And Seema is not Samantha. She’s an unmade bed.

by Anonymousreply 57May 30, 2025 12:26 PM

Seema should’ve also been cut. Actually, I would’ve been totally fine cutting LTW as well. From the beginning, the writers have been fighting the original formula (no Carrie voiceovers, not the original gals, etc) because they wanted to differentiate the show. It was another mistake. It feels like they are slowly reconning it back a little, but it’s too little too late.

by Anonymousreply 58May 30, 2025 12:29 PM

For R55: The infamous (scathing, possibly unhinged harsh even for that movie) review of the worst of the movies:

"[SatC2] is 146 minutes long, which means that I entered the theater in the bloom of youth and emerged with a family of field mice living in my long, white mustache. This is an entirely inappropriate length for what is essentially a home video of gay men playing with giant Barbie dolls."

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 59May 30, 2025 12:35 PM

Yup, R59. I remember Tina Fey saying something very early on in the original series run. This is when everyone loved the show and the quality was good, and she did as well. But she said something to the effect of how she had never met a single New York woman who acted like any of these women. How they were really gay men.

MPK seems similar to Andy Cohen in his insistence that he has some sort of special insight into what makes these women tick. But both men seem to approach it from the lens of gay culture, not the lens of actual NYC woman. It’s Truman Capote esque.

by Anonymousreply 60May 30, 2025 12:42 PM

Now that Carrie is alone, she lives in a huge house twice the size of where she lived with big?

I never want to see Carrie Bradshaw have phone sex.

This was the worst episode yet.

by Anonymousreply 61May 30, 2025 12:59 PM

I was looking down from Heaven on the scene, r61, and it was a beautiful moment of which I approved.

by Anonymousreply 62May 30, 2025 1:03 PM

I can't believe anything else was done after the hideous SATC2.

Everyone involved must be getting serious bank to grind this out.

by Anonymousreply 63May 30, 2025 1:23 PM

Not me, R62.

by Anonymousreply 64May 30, 2025 1:32 PM

The new series is retarded but still appealing somehow. Some of the fashion is still fun to see.i do t like Seema she’s annoying

by Anonymousreply 65May 30, 2025 2:13 PM

It does feel like the SATC2 writers remain in charge.

by Anonymousreply 66May 30, 2025 2:23 PM

Seema's like original recipe Charlotte, whiny and needy, with Samantha's dry delivery and Miranda's neuroses.

By the end of the series she will probably be happily married to a woman but fired from the show.

by Anonymousreply 67May 30, 2025 2:24 PM

Like I have nothing better to do on a Thursday night than watch an elderly social X-ray finger herself.

And what did Miranda use to get Mary off? A basketball?

by Anonymousreply 68May 30, 2025 2:50 PM

Didn't the sex happen rather quickly for lesbians?

I mean, and maybe this a by gay men standards, but wasn't Sister Mary was the kind of gal who needed to earn the but she has a great personality badge before she visited Miranda's snackateria?

by Anonymousreply 69May 30, 2025 3:37 PM

I feel badly for Cynthia.

2 Emmys

2 Tonys

Latest storyline: deflowering Rosie O’Donnell on HBO Max

by Anonymousreply 70May 30, 2025 3:43 PM

R69. Sister Mary was only in town for a few days and decided after 60+ years that she needed to lose her virginity and see Wicked NOW.

by Anonymousreply 71May 30, 2025 3:44 PM

New York is a helluva town, r71!

by Anonymousreply 72May 30, 2025 3:46 PM

Well, if they wanted to find the one sex hookup that would be even more repellant than Miranda and that hideous Che......congratulations, mission accomplished!

by Anonymousreply 73May 30, 2025 3:48 PM

I hate that they made Miranda a lesbian because it’s basically been all she’s played for the past three seasons. She used to be the most interesting character.

by Anonymousreply 74May 30, 2025 3:51 PM

It doesn't make sense that Miranda is living like a nomad while Steve and Brady are settled in a loft.

by Anonymousreply 75May 30, 2025 4:02 PM

I could see DL fave Lens Dunham guest starring as one of Miranda's lady lovers.

by Anonymousreply 76May 30, 2025 4:08 PM

R76 with fingerless gloves!!

by Anonymousreply 77May 30, 2025 4:20 PM

Agree r58

by Anonymousreply 78May 30, 2025 4:51 PM

Real talk: I hate the minority storylines. I don’t care about Seema or the other one

They should have created a brand new show with these characters.

by Anonymousreply 81May 30, 2025 6:35 PM

This bitch.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 82May 30, 2025 6:43 PM

I love Nicole Ari Parker but her Lisa character is so bland she makes Charlotte look interesting by comparison. I blame the writing, not the actor.

by Anonymousreply 83May 30, 2025 6:58 PM

No more scenes with Aidan alone in his car. The crying thing last season plus the j/o scene in ep. 1, just no.

by Anonymousreply 84May 30, 2025 7:00 PM

So, Kristen Davis is getting paid for doing almost nothing.

"Her" storylines are about her kids and dog - lol.

Kudos to her for raking in money to call in her performance.

by Anonymousreply 85May 30, 2025 7:12 PM

None of these people will ever work again. Get them coins, hunty!

by Anonymousreply 86May 30, 2025 7:13 PM

Which is ridiculous, R85, because there are a million stories they could tell about an UES mommy with kids in a private school. That’s a whole world onto itself, and yet they made both of those kids dull and/or odd.

by Anonymousreply 87May 30, 2025 7:17 PM

The owner of Peanut was a horrible, amateurish actress. However, that was the most restrained and best acting I have ever seen from Rosie O’Donnell.

by Anonymousreply 88May 30, 2025 7:17 PM

I can't believe I'm writing this but Rosie has never LOOKED better.

by Anonymousreply 89May 30, 2025 7:30 PM

You need cataract surgery R89!

by Anonymousreply 90May 30, 2025 7:31 PM
I was just listening to an interview with Michael Patrick King, and it strikes me how much he really doesn’t get it. No one even thinks about money. It’s simply not how New Yorkers, including very high net worth New Yorkers, live in 2025.

They did the storyline last season where Miranda was unhoused and sleeping on the professor's sofa. To quote Valerie Cherish, who was offered Samantha before Kim Cattrall, I don't need to see that.

It's a comedy drama about 3 wealthy white women pushing 60 who do fabulous things. They experienced hardship like that time Carrie lost her computer and was kept awake by chickens and Samantha was kept away by the trannies. They dated men who still lived with their parents.

If you want something more gritty, watch something more gritty.

by Anonymousreply 91May 30, 2025 7:47 PM

I’m not sure that the series was ever supposed to be particularly relatable—with the exception of the sex and dating stuff.

by Anonymousreply 92May 30, 2025 7:55 PM

R91, a massive townhouse on Gramercy Park isn’t just wealthy. It’s a whole other level.

And no, I will watch what I want to watch, and I will also give my feedback on what I think would help what is probably the most roundly criticized show on TV.

by Anonymousreply 93May 30, 2025 8:10 PM

But it was relatable, R92. The original series run, and particularly the first few seasons, were a heightened version of a New York that felt very familiar at the time. It was toward the end of the run, and especially at the time of the first movie, that they decided to instead lean into the over the top displays of wealth.

by Anonymousreply 94May 30, 2025 8:12 PM
[R91], a massive townhouse on Gramercy Park isn’t just wealthy. It’s a whole other level.

And The Widow Bradshaw has earned it!

by Anonymousreply 95May 30, 2025 8:14 PM

I thought Rosie was Rosanne Barr at first.

by Anonymousreply 96May 30, 2025 8:16 PM

Anyone know how much Carrie’s fancy new townhouse would cost? Also, is the exterior realistic?

If so, wow it’s beautiful

by Anonymousreply 97May 30, 2025 8:27 PM

I don't understand what they're doing with Aidan. If he's gonna be Carrie's long distance boyfriend then make him her long distance boyfriend. If he's not gonna be her long distance boyfriend, then write him off the show.

by Anonymousreply 98May 30, 2025 8:38 PM

Tasteful friends, this is the high end of the market.

I'm starting to think that this show is post-criticism and post-cringe. We all know what we're in for.

by Anonymousreply 99May 30, 2025 8:48 PM

I'd live there.

by Anonymousreply 100May 30, 2025 9:14 PM

The townhouse is dreamy indeed but too big and impractical for an elderly single woman.

by Anonymousreply 101May 30, 2025 9:35 PM

Those stairs alone are a killer

by Anonymousreply 102May 30, 2025 10:15 PM

by Anonymousreply 103May 30, 2025 10:45 PM

That stupid fucking hat.

by Anonymousreply 104May 31, 2025 12:01 AM

That stupid fucking giant ball necklace that stupid Lisa is wearing.

by Anonymousreply 105May 31, 2025 12:06 AM

Seema's dumping a rich movie producer. She's a idjit.

by Anonymousreply 106May 31, 2025 12:20 AM

Who else forwarded through that revolting phone sex scene? They're OLD.

by Anonymousreply 107May 31, 2025 12:22 AM

I did r107. I couldn’t watch it for real

by Anonymousreply 108May 31, 2025 12:34 AM

I like LTW and Seema, but juggling then as main-level characters is a lot. The show seems rushed like they HAVE to fit so much stuff in every episode.

by Anonymousreply 109May 31, 2025 12:40 AM

This episode was more like the old show.

SJP looked 81 during most of it until she was doing the phone sex scene where she actually looked like a good looking older Carrie. Watch it again. You saw her SATC face a bit older. She should never wear her hair pulled back.

by Anonymousreply 110May 31, 2025 12:43 AM

R109 Totally agree. They never should’ve made them main characters. No one cares. They tried to do too much diversity, which I’m all for, but they did it badly.

by Anonymousreply 111May 31, 2025 12:44 AM

LTW's husband is so nicely thick. Can he do a solo jerkoff scene?

by Anonymousreply 112May 31, 2025 1:08 AM

Mehcad Brooks is in episode 2? Can he fuck LTW's husband?

by Anonymousreply 113May 31, 2025 1:12 AM

Oh, God, is that her phone sex hat r82? Shit, what the fuck is that? Too late, now I'm going to see it every time. Goddamn, it's ruined forever!

by Anonymousreply 114May 31, 2025 1:13 AM
LTW's husband is so nicely thick. Can he do a solo jerkoff scene?

I find him very sexy.

by Anonymousreply 115May 31, 2025 1:17 AM

I don’t mind LTW and Seema. I’d rather watch them than the endless “Miranda’s a lesbian now” shit.

by Anonymousreply 116May 31, 2025 1:19 AM

They’ve tightened the ensemble enough now that they should be able to serve the main characters in an hour long episode, it’s just that everyone’s storyline is pretty darn boring and few of them overlap in a meaningful way. There’s nothing tying it all together the way the original series did via the Carrie column/voiceovers.

by Anonymousreply 117May 31, 2025 1:27 AM

Carrie's clothes are more ridiculous than ever, esp. given that she now looks old. Seema is just annoying as is Charlotte's home life. Miranda must have had one heck a makeover because she looks better than recent pics of Nixon. The nun storyline just seemed random. The phone sex thing just seemed random.

by Anonymousreply 118May 31, 2025 1:48 AM

I would have preferred they keep Che and her tackiness than Seema.

by Anonymousreply 119May 31, 2025 1:49 AM

Lose them both. Che was a nightmare. Miranda still acts like she's 14.

by Anonymousreply 120May 31, 2025 1:57 AM

I really enjoyed laughing at Che

by Anonymousreply 121May 31, 2025 2:28 AM

Rosie was great.

by Anonymousreply 122May 31, 2025 2:59 AM

R56 only no. They’re all in their 50s. The storylines you’re creating are for young people. Gossip Girl was HS kids. These are women getting near 60. And rich people exist. Many do. In NYC. Living in the areas these ladies do.

by Anonymousreply 123May 31, 2025 3:13 AM

I want Chris Jackson inside me while singing his songs from Hamilton.

by Anonymousreply 124May 31, 2025 3:13 AM

R60 that was a criticism of the OG series by a few critics back in the late 90s into 00s. Many people said the women were actually gay men, especially Samantha.

by Anonymousreply 125May 31, 2025 3:14 AM

R61 she had phone sex more than once in the OG series too. Did you never watch?

by Anonymousreply 126May 31, 2025 3:15 AM

They made Miranda a lesbian at the request of Cynthia. She wanted to incorporate some of her real life into the character. R74

by Anonymousreply 127May 31, 2025 3:18 AM

R83 couldn’t disagree more. I liked Lisa a lot this episode. And she’s so pretty.

by Anonymousreply 128May 31, 2025 3:20 AM

R85 she got paid to do almost nothing in the final seasons of SATC and in both films. Her entire storyline in the final season was getting pregnant, same with the first movie and then her storyline in the second movie was her being a mom.

by Anonymousreply 129May 31, 2025 3:21 AM

R93 issue is no one wants your “feedback”. Also, complaining on a random forum isn’t “feedback”. It’s just complaining. Look up what feedback is.

If I don’t like something I don’t watch it. Who hates something to the point they complain about it FOR HOURS straight but refuse to stop watching it? That is ridiculous behavior.

by Anonymousreply 130May 31, 2025 3:24 AM

R94 the series was not relatable. Only the first 2 or 3 reasons. The women gained more wealth with time. It happens. That’s life. Some people score. Some don’t. Charlotte married rich and then inherited an apartment worth millions and jewelry etc. worth millions, and then married a lawyer. Samantha was always pretty wealthy from the start. Miranda was a successful attorney. Carrie was the only one who struggled with money at times and then Big happened. A millionaire.

When he died she inherited his fortune.

by Anonymousreply 131May 31, 2025 3:26 AM

R98 and that’s the stupidest complaint you’ve given on the thread, and that’s saying something!

by Anonymousreply 132May 31, 2025 3:28 AM

I watched every episode of BULL for LTW’s husband. He played a gay stylist turned lawyer.

by Anonymousreply 133May 31, 2025 3:34 AM

I like Lisa. She’s the best of the new characters. I don’t mind Miranda being a lesbian but I think she could get better women

by Anonymousreply 134May 31, 2025 3:40 AM

Why is Aiden always in his truck? Is he secretly a hobo?

by Anonymousreply 135May 31, 2025 3:41 AM

It’s so his kids don’t hear him. His car is probably his alone place.

by Anonymousreply 136May 31, 2025 3:47 AM

All is forgiven since they ended it with the best song ever.

Get rid of seema. She doesn't fit and is boring. She is a samantha wannabe.

Seema is the opposite of Samantha

Samantha wanted a lot of sex but without real intimacy or affection and pushed away men who wanted more.

Seema wants sex with intimacy and affection and is pushing away men who won't give her that.

by Anonymousreply 141May 31, 2025 7:33 AM

Are nuns allowed to have lesbian sex?

by Anonymousreply 142May 31, 2025 10:04 AM

R142 obviously not.

by Anonymousreply 143May 31, 2025 10:04 AM

Does NYC even have a lesbian bar?

by Anonymousreply 144May 31, 2025 10:18 AM

The lesbian bar scene was transphobic - Miranda says lesbian bars she went to were "like law school but without the penises".

NEWSFLASH: LESBIANS CAN HAVE DICKS!

by Anonymousreply 145May 31, 2025 10:35 AM

The show runs purely on hate watch fumes. But that admittedly works. I watched it and I hated it. And I will watch and hate again.

SJP's hat in the park was so over the top, it screamed: "I am a woke supporter of nameless fashion designers trying to get their name out there" and she looked beyond ridiculous. Her townhouse on Gramercy Park is basically billionaires row these days, and her going from a small one bedroom to this monstrosity is another tone-deaf move. The show has no heart and definitely no soul. If you take a turd and a brownie and blend them together you get 'And Just Like That'. :(

by Anonymousreply 148May 31, 2025 11:28 AM

R123, I wasn’t saying those should be plot lines for AJLT. I’m saying that to heighten the stakes and create a compelling show, you have to give your wealthy characters more obstacles. In my opinion, that is one of the major flaws of this show. The stakes are extremely low.

by Anonymousreply 149May 31, 2025 11:29 AM

Oddly defensive post, R130. But with all due, while you explain the rules of feedback on this silly little forum, I will continue to weigh in however I damn well please.

by Anonymousreply 150May 31, 2025 11:31 AM

No, R150. No you will not.

And so it is decreed.

by Anonymousreply 151May 31, 2025 11:53 AM

In real life, Seema would be washed up and too old to find anybody, because she's too high maintenance and probably crazy. She's the kind of new friend who doesn't last long because eventually you say oh, now I get it.

by Anonymousreply 152May 31, 2025 12:19 PM

And she smells of curry.

by Anonymousreply 153May 31, 2025 12:24 PM

R147, I love that song too! One of the most annoying things I’ve noticed is the canned Muzak-type music they were using in both the movies and the new show. I always attributed in to the salaries of the actresses being so high that they couldn’t afford the rights to good music anymore. The sappy stuff they were using was so jarring, they had pretty good music for the shows. The music in this episode was much better.

I will say that I thought this episode was better written in that it had the lightness and ease of the earlier seasons—the jokes were pretty good and the dialogue was funny and interesting. But I agree that the lives these women now lead are so far removed from real life characters that it’s kind of insulting. How many women (and men) can relate to any of their lives? I get that if you’re in NY for many years, you probably have achieved some wealth and status, but they’re off the charts wealthy. It’s so off-putting.

Finally one silly observation. Has ballet sunk to such a level that only about 10 people attended the concert?

by Anonymousreply 154May 31, 2025 12:34 PM

Cynthia Nixon’s fountain of youth:

R144, yes. Henrietta Hudson and the Cubby Hole to name two.

by Anonymousreply 156May 31, 2025 1:07 PM

The most realistic thing about the episode was the big theater being near empty for the ballet.

by Anonymousreply 157May 31, 2025 1:45 PM

I gave up on this mess halfway thru the first season but my spouse convinced me to watch the season three premiere and I enjoyed it! Granted I was stoned out of my mind, which helped me enjoy the truly awfulness of most of it, but I laughed a lot.

The Rosie/Miranda storyline was fun. Don’t understand the point of the two new main women characters, but whatevs. They didn’t suck —just don’t understand their place in the show other than awkwardly stuffing in some diversity. But the Adian/Carrie storyline. He’s leaving for 5 years?! And they can’t have contact during that time? He moved to Pennsylvania, right? Which borders NY? And they can’t figure out how to visit each other? The phone sex scene was just awful and they should go back to no contact.

I’m sticking with it at least until Patti Lupone shows up.

by Anonymousreply 158May 31, 2025 1:46 PM

Well actually he’s banished to Virginia, which is farther away and technically the South.

The real issue here is that Aidan was never a good match for Carrie, and either the actor didn’t want to commit to the series or the showrunner decided that settling Carrie down with another Love Of Her Life at this point in the series was a bad idea. So they contrived this ridiculous way to keep them apart.

The end trailer showing snippets from the upcoming season suggests that Carrie at some point takes up with a younger man and that at some point Aidan returns expecting to move in with Carrie and manages to ruffle her feathers when he decides to take over half of her walk-in closet.

by Anonymousreply 159May 31, 2025 2:07 PM

Maybe Patti will show up as a brutal truth sayer, telling Carrie she’s too fucking old to dress like that and that she’s a narcissistic cunt.

by Anonymousreply 160May 31, 2025 2:15 PM

Patricia Field doesn’t do the clothes for this so the styling is always slightly off.

by Anonymousreply 161May 31, 2025 2:18 PM

The styling is horrible, r161. In S&TC, The women were always well dressed according to their characters, with Carrie’s costumes slightly off the charts, but she never wore designer clothes—only designer shoes and purses. It looked like she actually got a lot of her clothes from thrift shops. Miranda wore suits for work but otherwise dressed casually, Samantha wore sexy clothes, but they were also professional as befitting her job. (Seema, as her substitute, also dresses way over the top for her job.) And Charlotte was preppy.

by Anonymousreply 162May 31, 2025 2:25 PM

John Corbett can’t act, is the problem

by Anonymousreply 163May 31, 2025 2:35 PM

Patti is apparently Anthony's mother.

Given recent events, chef's kiss.

by Anonymousreply 164May 31, 2025 2:37 PM
Maybe Patti will show up as a brutal truth sayer, telling Carrie she’s too fucking old to dress like that and that she’s a narcissistic cunt.

I'm sure she will. It may not be part of the show, but it's very likely, yes.

by Anonymousreply 165May 31, 2025 2:38 PM

There are some major problems. One: Kristin Davis cannot act. At least, in the original, she was given some juicy storylines and rescued by competent actors like Kyle McLachlan. Now she is playing opposite children and dogs. It is painful.

SJP has aged poorly. Her bizarre wardrobe does not help. Neither does her sad, massive, empty brownstone. She looks like Rapunzel (so said Anthony, accurately!).

Cynthia Nixon can act, but suddenly being a lesbian is the only part of her identity. She's a completely new character from the original. It is unfortunate.

Seema is no Kim Cattrall.

The other family - Nicole Ari Parker and her brood - seem to belong in a different show.

Sigh.

by Anonymousreply 166May 31, 2025 2:43 PM

I love Nicole Air Parker but it does feel like they were a great idea to support Charlotte's white cluelessness in one episode back in the so woke we broke it season.

Seema's the character that's failing. She started out as cool and aggressive but she's just a picky old grump. She's single at sixty. What does that tell you?

by Anonymousreply 167May 31, 2025 2:47 PM

The Red Rooster scene was cringeworthy.

by Anonymousreply 168May 31, 2025 3:42 PM

The look at R52 has been giving me deja vu, but she's dressed like the original 80s Strawberry Shortcake dolls, mostly Apple Dumpling, little bit of Apricot with a dash of Purple Pie Man.

by Anonymousreply 170May 31, 2025 3:50 PM

The season does not need to end with a Carrie/Aiden geriatric dream wedding with Carrie wearing a FABULOUS designer dress designed for someone 30+ years younger. I fear that is what is coming.

by Anonymousreply 171May 31, 2025 3:58 PM

Can't wait for the appearance of Patti LuPone given the current bruhaha.

by Anonymousreply 172May 31, 2025 4:07 PM

Carrie looked like a slutty Holly Hobby with that ridiculous hat.

by Anonymousreply 173May 31, 2025 4:08 PM

that hat really deserves a thread of its own

by Anonymousreply 174May 31, 2025 4:09 PM

Here is my question. What on earth did Big do to leave her all that money? Nobody lives like that.

by Anonymousreply 175May 31, 2025 4:28 PM

Carrie's hat had me craving Jiffy Pop.

by Anonymousreply 176May 31, 2025 4:31 PM

They made Anthony apologize for walking in his truth and almost put him in friendship jail, and yet Carrie walks freely through the streets of New York City with monstrosities on her head.

Unfair! She always an apology to the entire city, if not the entire world.

by Anonymousreply 177May 31, 2025 4:45 PM

oops, "owes" not "always."

by Anonymousreply 178May 31, 2025 4:46 PM

That hat made the episode look like a Mad TV spoof of the show.

by Anonymousreply 179May 31, 2025 4:48 PM

Watched it lad5 night. Jesus, wtf was Carrie wearing? First scene she walked out wearing a bridal negligee then later the biggest gingham prairie bonnet ever made. Are we supposed to believe NY women walk around like this?

Charlotte still looking freaky from fillers and, lord, she is a terrible actress. Her kids are boring.

Did they get rid of the other Black lady? Miranda's professor?

I can't get interested in Seema or the other Black family. Poor Harry has zero to do.

by Anonymousreply 180May 31, 2025 5:38 PM

The show seems to have been written by people who have never been married or had kids. Every family I know has issues—yet these people have none. I am not even referring to the excessive wealth, either.

by Anonymousreply 181May 31, 2025 5:47 PM

Yup, R181. I’ve never seen a show with so many family members who have absolutely no role. They’re just there.

by Anonymousreply 182May 31, 2025 5:57 PM
Did they get rid of the other Black lady? Miranda's professor?

The actress is also in The Morning Show and was largely absent for the last series. I'm sure I remember reading a lot of her scenes were filmed separately as she was in LA and the rest were in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 183May 31, 2025 6:09 PM
The show seems to have been written by people who have never been married or had kids. Every family I know has issues—yet these people have none. I am not even referring to the excessive wealth, either.

You mean you missed the storylines about Brady in the first couple of seasons, the storylines about Charlotte's 2 kids and her expectations for them, and the whole reason Aiden can't commit to Carrie being because of his kids?

by Anonymousreply 184May 31, 2025 6:11 PM

I hope Rosie gets an Emmy nod for playing Sister Mary of Winnipeg. MAGA will melt.

by Anonymousreply 185May 31, 2025 6:27 PM

I saw a video of Cynthia talking about working with her old friend Rosie - she said MPK had asked her to be in the 2 previous seasons but she finally said yes to this season.

Cynthia said Rosie is great and played the character with humanity, meaning it's ok to laugh at her as long as you pity her too.

by Anonymousreply 186May 31, 2025 6:31 PM

Is Sebastiano Pigazzi (Guiseppe) gay? He is HOT.

by Anonymousreply 187May 31, 2025 6:59 PM

r157 I didn't get it. Was it because it was a day show??

by Anonymousreply 188May 31, 2025 7:01 PM

"Here is my question. What on earth did Big do to leave her all that money? Nobody lives like that."

He was generally understood to be in finance and business - which is incredibly vague. Were supposed to assume that he had some very high level, very lucrative job. Plus, maybe he had family money - though that wasn't really revealed in any way. He would emphasize his work at times like it was really important, he had the big "Paris deal" that fell through. When Carrie couldn't afford the down payment for her apartment, she went to him and said how she had read about how he had turned a modest amount of money into a lot of money. So he was vaguely rich but we never knew the specifics.

by Anonymousreply 189May 31, 2025 7:14 PM

I imagine there was also some life insurance that came the way of The Widow Bradshaw.

OMG I don't know why I've only just realised this but if Carrie married Aiden and went double barrelled she would be Carrie Bradshaw-Shaw or would she be Carrie Shaw-Bradshaw? That would be a wedding for Liza to attend.

by Anonymousreply 190May 31, 2025 7:18 PM

I just don't know why we can't have Carrie do the voiceover over the entire series like she used to. I thought Exec Producer Michael Patrick King has said they would do that. Additionally, they're defintley trying to "lighten up" the serious with lots of colors. Everyone including the extras are wearing lots of colors.

I'm sorry WHAT kind of stage direction was given to poor Aiden that he had to "LICK" his hand and then put it down his pants while jerking off in the truck. This isn't a porno and it was gross. Oh I could go on and on it's just not the original series and never will be. But I thought it would be a bit more organic from the original to this one.

by Anonymousreply 191May 31, 2025 7:25 PM

Can we talk about Sebastiano Pigazzi??? I can’t believe there’s no separate thread yet on this Italian hottie. What is this? This is supposed to be Datalounge. Can we stop talking about the stupid politics all the time and focus on what is really important?

by Anonymousreply 192May 31, 2025 7:32 PM

It was entertaining but SJP should never wear her hair severely pulled back. Makes her look ancient.

by Anonymousreply 193May 31, 2025 7:47 PM

I had to look up the credits for the woman who was bitching about Charlotte's dog attacking her dog, she was the actress who ran the first funeral home they went to when Big died.

by Anonymousreply 194May 31, 2025 8:09 PM

The Anthony bottoming arc was actually pretty funny. I am enjoying the second season. And the way they wrote Sanford out was pretty well done too.

by Anonymousreply 195May 31, 2025 8:15 PM

They really need to 86 the extra dead cast. Give Anthony more airtime. As was mentioned above, the show feels rushed to squeeze in as many people as possible and it doesn’t work. The new characters were introduced in inorganic ways. I don’t connect to them except the Italian because he is linked to Anthony. I feel like they should’ve made one of Charlotte’s kids like able. They need better writers. SJP has to see the need.

by Anonymousreply 196May 31, 2025 8:23 PM

Yeah, that is the thing r196. It was not a terrible idea to introduce some black characters but it's all so half-assed and not thought out. It just feels like "Carrie's black friend called her today to bitch about some stupid date, but now we can get back to the real characters." And Charlotte's kids are just nothing, I guess just stand ins for "woke" kids these days, but that is also half-assed and no thought behind it.

by Anonymousreply 197May 31, 2025 8:34 PM

I can't wait for the Anthony - Patty LuPone smackdown.

by Anonymousreply 198May 31, 2025 9:11 PM

They should get rid of the lawyer or Seema. Both are too much. Rosie O’Donnell was excellent. Maybe she could get a recurring role as a friend not lover of Miranda.

by Anonymousreply 199May 31, 2025 9:16 PM
I'm sorry WHAT kind of stage direction was given to poor Aiden that he had to "LICK" his hand and then put it down his pants while jerking off in the truck. This isn't a porno and it was gross.

by Anonymousreply 200May 31, 2025 9:19 PM

The sole saving grace is that Carrie hasn’t changed.

:ring-ring:, “Okay I’m ready to masturbate, now, please.”

“Oh, well can’t you go in the other room or be really quiet so your son doesn’t hear?"

by Anonymousreply 201May 31, 2025 9:25 PM

Seema seema lotta work.

Meanwhile, across town, Miranda was hosting a very serious gender ordeal party after Patti LuPone told her to shove it up her bustle.

by Anonymousreply 202May 31, 2025 9:31 PM

I hate watched the first two seasons of this mess, but I just can’t do it any more.

The original impulse to end SATC at its peak popularity after six seasons was correct. As an avid fan, I missed the show but was glad they ended it before they could ruin it. But then came those movies and this AJLT dreck.

The first movie was okay — they [italic]absolutely[/italic] should have stopped after that. The second movie was so awful, such a caricature of the show and the characters, that is what killed the franchise’s magic. This AJLT shit is just pissing on its grave.

by Anonymousreply 203May 31, 2025 9:52 PM

I remember reading a review of the second movie that said it was like watching your oldest, dearest friend getting bashed to within an inch of their life in a dark alley.

by Anonymousreply 204May 31, 2025 10:15 PM

Oh come on guys, AJLT is not THAT bad.

by Anonymousreply 205May 31, 2025 10:46 PM

I've always wondered why SJP who has serious literary creds (her own fiction imprint, current Booker Prize judge) has allowed so much pure trash to be written for her and performed by her. Surely she can't think this shit is good.

by Anonymousreply 206May 31, 2025 11:29 PM

“ I hate watched the first two seasons of this mess, but I just can’t do it any more.”

by Anonymousreply 207May 31, 2025 11:30 PM

"In shedding so much of the clutter it, like Carrie’s studio, had been accumulating since the 20th century, AJLT finally feels less like an SATC hangover and more like its own preposterous yet generally fun thing."

The New York Times panned it, and the commentaries have been nothing short of brutal.

by Anonymousreply 209June 1, 2025 12:02 AM

Sebastiano Pigazzi did full frontal in the Luca Guadanino HBO series with Chloe Sevigny, practically a micropenis. They must have used a Ken Ryker dildo for his scene in the tacky breadboy delivery outfit.

by Anonymousreply 210June 1, 2025 12:06 AM

Of course they used a prosthetic penis. I never expected him to be that huge. But also didn't think he'd be micro.

by Anonymousreply 211June 1, 2025 12:36 AM

R210 that is very disappointing to hear.

by Anonymousreply 212June 1, 2025 1:03 AM

The long blonde hair isn't doing SJP any favors.

Who was looking at what shoes SJP was wearing when she had that contraption on her head?

by Anonymousreply 213June 1, 2025 1:27 AM

And just like that ... DataLounge queens entirely overlooked that they retired the (literal) "and just like that..." voiceover at the end of each ep. Remember the weird scene where Carrie was mad at Anthony? She said, "Boom – and just like that, I'm not mad anymore."

Awkward & cringe, though I know it's the Rosie scenes in bed with Miranda that'll give me PTSD for years. (Unlike actual New York women, nuns don't get Brazilians.)

by Anonymousreply 214June 1, 2025 1:33 AM

They need Carrie Coons

by Anonymousreply 215June 1, 2025 11:15 AM

Has Carrie ever mentioned her family?

I know Miranda is from that place they went to when her mother died and she got felt up by the lezzie in the bra shop. And she has a sister.

Charlotte has a brother who fucked Samantha but I can't remember where she was from originally.

by Anonymousreply 216June 1, 2025 11:23 AM

Her parents would be about dying now, R216. Hopefully, they spare us another Carrie Funeral scene.

by Anonymousreply 217June 1, 2025 11:32 AM

Pretty sure Charlotte was from Connecticut.... the brother was Wesley, wasn't he? Think Miranda was from Philadelphia (the upper middle class suburbs, I'd guess.) I think I remember Carrie saying something cryptic about her mother once, but it was almost an aside.

by Anonymousreply 218June 1, 2025 11:49 AM

Carrie mentioned her father basically disappearing (so Daddy issues with Big). Miranda seemed very Main Line Philly---father was dead by the time mother died. Charlotte was either from Westchester or Fairfield County. Samantha was from someplace that had backyard swimming pools (probably above ground).

by Anonymousreply 219June 1, 2025 11:58 AM

Reddit, and I know I sound naive for posting this, is absolutely melting down about AJLT. They hate it. They hate everything about it. It is quite entertaining. Makes the reaction on DL look scholarly. Lacks the wit and phrasing of here but my God the sincere horror at it all is hugely entertaining.

by Anonymousreply 220June 1, 2025 11:59 AM

Didn't Samantha once say something about her mother being a drunk?

by Anonymousreply 221June 1, 2025 12:00 PM

What was weirdest about Carrie’s mushroom has was that she could wear it without anyone commenting on it. This is New York?

by Anonymousreply 222June 1, 2025 12:00 PM

There could be, if you were thoughtful, intelligent writers, a whole episode about Carrie's fashion choices. Have her get mocked in the street and then some introspection, along with a healthy dose of the girls at the diner: By the time I had to get home, I had to look in the mirror and ask myself: Was I lucky Mr. Blackwell was dead?

by Anonymousreply 223June 1, 2025 12:06 PM

I lost interest early on. I kept it on but I got up and did other stuff. It seems tired. There needs to be some strife or striving.

by Anonymousreply 224June 1, 2025 12:39 PM

One of the things I find is a downside to streaming series is there's no discipline about the production schedule... a couple of years can pass between the end of one series and the resumption of the next.

And if you're at a stage of life that might be called really aging... (naming no names)... it can really show.

by Anonymousreply 225June 1, 2025 12:43 PM

2 criticisms of the show: OMG LOOK AT KRISTIN'S FROZEN FACE SHE LOOKS AWFUL and OMG LOOK AT SJP'S SAGGING FACE SHE LOOKS SO OLD

r221

Sam's mom was a drunk with 3 kids. Samantha also worked at a dairy queen

by Anonymousreply 227June 1, 2025 1:34 PM

I’ve weighed in several times here about the excessive wealth, but I have to admit I was surprised to learn that Carrie’s new apartment, which looks so huge, is “only” 1700 sq ft. Obviously not small for NYC, but I live in an apartment that’s just over 1300 sq ft and it certainly doesn’t feel big. Some of my extremely rich friends live in places double or even triple the size of mine.

by Anonymousreply 228June 1, 2025 1:47 PM

Charlotte is from CT and went to Smith College where she majored in finance (which is not a major there).

by Anonymousreply 229June 1, 2025 2:27 PM

That's funny r229. She seems like she would've been an art history major or something, and at a more traditionalist, less feminist school. Finance just seems wrong (even if it was a major there), too practical, too competitive with men, i.e. future husbands to take care of her.

by Anonymousreply 230June 1, 2025 2:34 PM

I don't remember Samantha ever saying her mother was a drunk. She did say her mother was saddled with three kids at the same age Sam was thriving in NYC. Miranda had a tumultuous relationship with her mother. Charlotte's brother was hot. Carrie's dad went AWOL.

by Anonymousreply 231June 1, 2025 2:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 232June 1, 2025 2:56 PM

by Anonymousreply 233June 1, 2025 3:00 PM
Little is known about her early life, other than she comes from a working-class background and started working at a Dairy Queen selling Dilly bars at the age of 13 to earn some pocket money. In season 3, Samantha mentions she has at least 2 siblings, reflecting on how her mother "was saddled with 3 kids and a drunk husband" by her age.

by Anonymousreply 234June 1, 2025 3:05 PM

R228, it looks much larger than 1700 sq feet. If the actual physical building in real life is only 1700, that doesn't mean that's what they're trying to project in the show. Are they even using the actual interior of the property they show from the outside?

by Anonymousreply 235June 1, 2025 3:14 PM

R235 they rarely ever do interior shots on anything other than a soundstage

by Anonymousreply 236June 1, 2025 3:17 PM
Carrie mentioned her father basically disappearing (so Daddy issues with Big).

Correct. But then when they did "The Carrie Diaries" Carrie and her previously unmentioned sister Dorrit were in CT being raised by their overprotective dad after their mom had died of cancer.

by Anonymousreply 237June 1, 2025 3:26 PM

The Carrie Diaries was a huge piece of shit.

by Anonymousreply 238June 1, 2025 3:35 PM

The actress who played Carrie in The Carrie Diaries was very pretty. I'm assuming she was in a disfiguring accident at some point.

by Anonymousreply 239June 1, 2025 3:42 PM

Candace Bushnell was from CT, so it makes sense Carrie would be from there. Bushnell grew-up in a nicer than average suburb of Hartford--Italian and less wealthy part of an old WASP Hartford family (Bushnell).

by Anonymousreply 247June 1, 2025 6:52 PM

And jusht like that....

by Anonymousreply 248June 1, 2025 6:59 PM

R244=Poo Shoes, desperately failing to deflect from her idiocy.

by Anonymousreply 249June 1, 2025 8:42 PM

Seema is way too needy, and quite exhausting. She does not mesh with anyone on the show. Carrie has nothing in common with her, until she is ready to sell that oversized townhouse.

by Anonymousreply 250June 1, 2025 9:21 PM

Just saw this and felt trolled. WTF. Is this from planet musk?

by Anonymousreply 251June 1, 2025 9:32 PM

And Just Like That ... i smell a rat.

by Anonymousreply 252June 1, 2025 9:44 PM

Rewatching the 2nd season. Hard to believe that Gloria Steinem would agree to appear in an episode with an oversized dick pic.

by Anonymousreply 253June 1, 2025 9:51 PM
Charlotte is from CT and went to Smith College where she majored in finance (which is not a major there).
That's funny. She seems like she would've been an art history major or something, and at a more traditionalist, less feminist school. Finance just seems wrong (even if it was a major there), too practical, too competitive with men, i.e. future husbands to take care of her.

R229 R230 Charlotte did in fact major in art history and minored in finance. She says so in season 4 episode (7, Time and Punishment) when she's interviewing her gallerina replacement so she can be a stay at home non-mom wife for Trey.

"Majored in art history, minored in finance, same as me!"

Do we think SJP and Nixon realize how cringe this show is? Are they completely delusional? They seem savvy. And yet.

by Anonymousreply 255June 1, 2025 11:28 PM

They are delusional.

by Anonymousreply 256June 1, 2025 11:33 PM

Agree with R256. And they think they’re smarter than they are.

by Anonymousreply 257June 2, 2025 12:38 AM

I’m pretty sure that SJP and Nixon would be aware of the correct use of “cringe”, R255.

by Anonymousreply 258June 2, 2025 12:40 AM

SJP said in a new interview that she never watches the show and never watched SATC either. Maybe she should?

by Anonymousreply 259June 2, 2025 1:25 AM

I think having Carrie harassed by the talking alarm was meant to make the apartment more relatable.

Dumb question which should have been asked 20 years ago: When Miranda married Steve, did Brady become Brady Brady or did he have to stay Brady Hobbs? Was this ever answered?

by Anonymousreply 260June 2, 2025 1:52 AM

R260 that talking alarm shit is the same tired plot point that happened when she moved into that sun-blasted white loft for two minutes. There was some chime that kept going off that she couldn't figure out.

by Anonymousreply 261June 2, 2025 1:58 AM

I thought the alarm (with the identifying code "Carrie and Aiden") constantly going off was supposed to be a warning to Carrie about her "relationship" with Aiden. After her attempted phone sex with Aiden flopped, the alarm started blaring, and she turned it off and starting writing again: "The woman wondered what she had gotten herself into."

I can see Carrie agreeing to the five year pause in the moment, but the next day, she should have dropped Aiden. A woman pushing 60, whose husband suddenly dropped dead, should know that waiting five years for someone (with no or limited contact!) is mind-numbingly stupid. And the blank postcards are more pathetic than romantic.

Rock continues to be a little asshole. "BELIEVE WOMEN!" "FAST FASHION!"

The wonderful Cheri Oteri is going to be in an episode this season. She will elevate this crap material just like she did with her MCM guest spot.

by Anonymousreply 262June 2, 2025 4:01 AM

I watch because I am playing the game “Identify the NYC location”.

by Anonymousreply 263June 2, 2025 10:48 AM

What medication is Brady Brady Hobbs taking?

by Anonymousreply 264June 2, 2025 10:53 AM

The door alarm thing was stupid, especially when the secret password was revealed. I'm sure that even New Yorkers eventually turn off these things unless they're going to out overnight.

by Anonymousreply 265June 2, 2025 11:41 AM

I thought she would use the "my pussy is hungry" as a double entendre since she has a kitty now. hehe

by Anonymousreply 266June 2, 2025 2:59 PM

After the discussion about the families of the original characters this interview is quite interesting about the deliberate choices not to focus on family members.

This isn't Are You Being Served? and Carrie isn't Mrs Slocombe, yet.

by Anonymousreply 268June 2, 2025 3:04 PM

And the show is poorer for it

by Anonymousreply 270June 2, 2025 3:58 PM

The phone sex scene seemed out of character for Aiden—he’s never been that crass or horny.

by Anonymousreply 271June 2, 2025 4:52 PM

This is the style Carrie needs to embrace again: lift at the roots—especially in the front—not completely flattened like she wears it now. Also, lighter eye makeup. She rims her eyes in khol and then a dark eyeshadow and her eyes shrink.

Carrie's hair looks best when left as a wild mane. It detracts from her large, witchy face and makes her look less haggard. That scraped back look really ages her. Agree about the harsh eye makeup but I see it everywhere now. Kardashian's started it?

by Anonymousreply 274June 2, 2025 5:11 PM

I think I'm the only one but I thought she looked great with the short curls and the shoulder length straight was good too.

She looks like an Afghan Hound at present, but most women her age do.

by Anonymousreply 275June 2, 2025 5:16 PM

Why doesn’t Miranda just move in with Carrie?

by Anonymousreply 276June 2, 2025 10:55 PM

Miranda is already squatting at Carrie's. Why do you think the alarm keeps going off?

by Anonymousreply 277June 2, 2025 11:01 PM

I love it, r277, but please let it be Che. secretly living in the attic or something. Sneaking in and out through the kitchen door.

Nobody gets rid of Che, dammit!

by Anonymousreply 278June 2, 2025 11:30 PM

Che is in Palestine fighting for the people of Gaza. This is what got her thrown under the bus, not the pathetic reason given by producers that the storyline just finished.

by Anonymousreply 279June 3, 2025 12:46 AM

SJP was wearing a "cloud hat". It should be banned like MAGA caps.

by Anonymousreply 281June 3, 2025 5:44 AM

Way late to the party, and haven't read the thread yet, but I actually liked this episode.

Was it great? No. But it was light, funny enough, and felt like classic SATC.

Awkward phone sex? Check.

Weird sexual situation with a virgin nun? Check.

A fire in bed waiting for Zoom sex? Check.

Carrie looking utterly ridiculous? Check.

Basically they cut a ton of fat and focused on what we loved about the show in the first place.

Charlotte was still useless. The PBS film maker and her hubby were still useless. But Carrie, Miranda and Seema's storylines were pretty damn good. At least for one episode.

by Anonymousreply 282June 3, 2025 6:36 AM

May I just say right here and now that I applaud their restraint in not having Carrie wear both the big ugly hat and the big balls necklace together.

by Anonymousreply 283June 3, 2025 1:22 PM

No, 283, you may not say that. And you may not say that because, as others have noted here, she wore a fucking holly hobby strawberry shortcake ensemble in the middle of a modern American city.

by Anonymousreply 284June 3, 2025 1:38 PM

The huge ball necklace is NOT functional!

This episode was the first one that seemed like old school SATC. Still not as good as the worst. SATC, but we’re getting there finally. One review seemed to have been from someone who saw the entire season and remarked that the show has finally figured itself out. I’m glad because they’re comfort food to me. SJP needs to find a look that’s flattering and stick to it. She looks like their mother.

by Anonymousreply 285June 3, 2025 3:25 PM

I think Che should die some absurd , cartoon death, like a piano falling on her head. And she can leave her fisting glove and some dildos to Miranda in the will.

At the will reading, we find out Che had a type, when a bunch of Cynthia Nixon/Clay Aiken lookalikes are summoned for their bequests as well -each of them getting one of Che’s sex toys.

by Anonymousreply 286June 3, 2025 3:51 PM

I actually liked Che after they broke up and the powers that be toned her down.

by Anonymousreply 287June 3, 2025 5:01 PM

Rewatches the second movie last weekend. AJLT makes SATC 2 look like the Godfather.

by Anonymousreply 288June 3, 2025 6:37 PM

r273 I don't know why she does that heavy smokey eye. Women with small eyes and long faces should avoid that. It makes your smalls look even smaller, older, and caved in. Hell women over 45 shouldn't do it as the last thing is look older.

And curly hair looks better on people with a long face. Long hair just makes you face look even longer. A shorter-- not too short curly hair would make her look younger.

by Anonymousreply 289June 3, 2025 7:18 PM

I actually liked the Wilma Flintstone necklace because they put it on a beautiful woman who can wear anything and look good. It would have looked ridiculous on Carrie.

by Anonymousreply 290June 3, 2025 10:25 PM

That necklace reads DON"T COME NEAR ME . . .including to her husband.

by Anonymousreply 291June 3, 2025 10:49 PM

Will Brady make more appearances? He is so refreshingly ugly.

by Anonymousreply 292June 3, 2025 11:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 304June 5, 2025 5:47 PM

This show has ruined NYC which is full of angry cunts who moved here thinking that they could have Carrie's lifestyle. If they are lucky they are married to some wall street pig who is even as we speak is out looking for some young girls (or guys) to fuck. There is no Mr. Big and most women here couldn't find three real friends if their lives depended on it.

Not to mention what it did to the gays who identified with those harridans......

by Anonymousreply 305June 5, 2025 5:56 PM

Mr Big was ugly from Season 1 episode 1 of SATC. Those nasty double folded bags u der his eyes…. He comes across as a complete and utter asshole, which Chris North apparently is.

by Anonymousreply 306June 5, 2025 6:14 PM

So people dress like slobs in NY like everywhere else?

by Anonymousreply 307June 5, 2025 6:17 PM

Chris Noth was a beautiful man in his 20s, 30s, 40s, and on. He was too pretty for Carrie, but hey it's her show.

by Anonymousreply 308June 5, 2025 9:22 PM

"This show has ruined NYC which is full of angry cunts who moved here thinking that they could have Carrie's lifestyle."

People talk about The Great SATC Migration that supposedly ruined the city but I can't believe that THAT many young women moved there - who weren't going to move there anyway - because of SATC. A few sure, but enough that the city is "full of" SATC cunts? I'd imagine it was more women who already lived there who took on an SATC "tone" in their lives.

by Anonymousreply 309June 5, 2025 9:36 PM

Those kind of peoples can't afford to live in NYC

by Anonymousreply 310June 5, 2025 11:47 PM

I really can’t see how Chris Noth is pretty. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 311June 6, 2025 12:01 AM

by Anonymousreply 318June 6, 2025 2:08 AM

I’ve never liked Aidan. He’s always been a whiny little bitch.

He continues to be a weird, whiny little bitch.

by Anonymousreply 319June 6, 2025 2:11 AM

They went very meta with the hate-watching.

by Anonymousreply 320June 6, 2025 2:13 AM

Better than last week and mostly because of the hot gardener.

by Anonymousreply 321June 6, 2025 2:24 AM

Can they give Charlotte and her uncomfortable face a more boring plot line? Carrie is going to either lose or kill the cat but it's nice she's gotten over her screeching fear of squirrels.

by Anonymousreply 322June 6, 2025 2:47 AM

My feedback on Ep2:

Three Carrie shrieks in the first twenty minutes were three too many. Not cute. Never was.

John Corbett was never a good (or even adequate) actor but he was, at least, cute. Thirty years later Aiden is just wet. That story line is dead.

Kristin Davis cannot do comedy. That whole story arc was pathetic and even made Nicole Ari Parker look silly and unattractive. As she’s a beauty IRL this was quite an accomplishment.

Sarita Choudhury doesn’t have the knees to wear a short skirt.

by Anonymousreply 323June 6, 2025 3:04 AM

Kristen's acting wasn't this bad during the original run. What happened? Did the bad plastic surgery freeze her face so much she has to try too hard to look animated?

Her daughter's bf looks tres gay.

by Anonymousreply 324June 6, 2025 3:09 AM

Didn't take long for this show to become as bad as everybody thought it was last week.

They are capable to two archetypes: the character as the unformed original in SATC or a caricature of nothing that walks the earth. Carrie's just a sad mess with no more insight than she had in SATC. Miranda's the shrill neurotic who can't get on. Charlotte is a running joke. The character isn't a person. And Che isn't gone. She's just called Seema now. Obnoxious, unlikable, unreal..

by Anonymousreply 325June 6, 2025 3:14 AM

The obnoxious mom-college counselor arc is such a waste of time.

by Anonymousreply 326June 6, 2025 3:14 AM

Seema’s face looks like a man’s face.

by Anonymousreply 327June 6, 2025 3:16 AM

There's not a recognizable human being in the whole cast. They're all so fucking old and trying so hard to still be attractive and hip. Just painful.

by Anonymousreply 328June 6, 2025 3:18 AM

I find it hard to believe any of them care about sex. It just isn’t that important to women in their mid-to-late 50s.

Looking good, having a beautiful house, being fabulous with their equally great-looking friends— yes. And getting their kids a good college Sherpa.

I weirdly found myself identifying with almost every plot EXCEPT the Aiden plot. Garden angst, kid college app angst, hate-watching an unbelievably stupid show, being lonely but not really wanting to date, lusting after Logan Marshall Green…

by Anonymousreply 329June 6, 2025 3:47 AM

Seema looks older than 55.

by Anonymousreply 330June 6, 2025 3:54 AM

"In a speech as dramatic as the one she gave Ravi, Seema kicks Sydney to the curb. I hope Seema does this to at least one person every episode. It’s a long shot, but we’re two for two." NYT.

Is Cheema the new Julia Sugarbaker?

by Anonymousreply 334June 6, 2025 4:14 AM

Watch the pilot episode again. There is nothing sentimental or fantastical about the original show or characters, it's grounded in reality. It's basically a documentary, but starring actors as fictional characters.

AJLT reminds me of Season 3 of Twin Peaks (not that it's anywhere near as good); it's so bogged down in sentimentality.

And it does not make any sense. Why would the perpetually optimistic Charlotte still be hanging around with such bitter characters after so many decades?

by Anonymousreply 335June 6, 2025 5:34 AM

And just like TWAT

by Anonymousreply 336June 6, 2025 5:48 AM

The first season has a very different vibe. I was glad they jettisoned the vox pop scenes

by Anonymousreply 337June 6, 2025 6:56 AM

They do seem to pair Charlotte up with LTW more than with Carrie and Miranda. I guess that shows some growth for Charlotte?

by Anonymousreply 338June 6, 2025 9:10 AM

In the opening scene for ep 2 (long shot, dim light), I briefly thought it was a flashback of some sort. Carrie’s body looked much younger than her years! Kudos to SJP. But I wonder if they used some digital enhancement. That youthful body’s VERY unlikely at her age.

by Anonymousreply 339June 6, 2025 9:40 AM

I like Seema a lot, but she’s exhausting. Again, I somewhat doubt a real woman would have her whole life revolve around dating.

by Anonymousreply 340June 6, 2025 9:43 AM

It’s the writing and the tone for me. Take something like the prep school college app stuff with Charlotte. I actually think that’s a perfect plot for her at this stage as an Upper East Side mom. However, every part of it was played like an absurdist cartoon, and I don’t understand why. The original show didn’t play like this. Even when they heightened the comedy, it still didn’t feel like this.

by Anonymousreply 341June 6, 2025 11:02 AM
The first season has a very different vibe. I was glad they jettisoned the vox pop scenes

But isn't that the difference between Darren Star in control and Michael Patrick King in control?

by Anonymousreply 342June 6, 2025 1:40 PM

R341 I agree that's a plot line that they could certainly do a lot more with as that's an issue many of the original show's core fan base are probably currently experiencing, whether they are a UES or your average suburban mom. Although I was somewhat amused how they were able to get in a few "red-pilled" takes about how identity politics has corrupted the Ivy League admissions process.

by Anonymousreply 343June 6, 2025 2:32 PM

It was somewhat unrealistic that Charlotte wouldn’t have hired a college whisperer when the kids were in, like, eighth grade.

by Anonymousreply 344June 6, 2025 2:37 PM

Oh, and the nonbinary kid plot! I have that one too. Maybe I’m living in the world of “And Just Like That!”

by Anonymousreply 345June 6, 2025 2:41 PM

The story arcs seem like they belong in a different show. The Charlotte & friend with the college whisperer made no sense as a short arc. They already had one, apparently. The Seema and the matchmaker just highlighted what a help rejecting complainer she is---people like this are exhausting and really don't work as series characters if this is all they do. Carrie in a dress for someone half her age doesn't work and the obvious Cougar story line just doesn't seem realistic---it's like Lucy unironically being called "young lady". Oddly, Miranda of all people had the most realistic story line with her rejection by waitron at the restaurant.

by Anonymousreply 346June 6, 2025 2:43 PM

It’s also not at all forbidden to hire an outside college counselor. A lot of wealthy prep school families do and, as R344 indicates, they do so well before junior year.

But yeah, that whole plot line is played like a cartoon. Even the part where LTW was running onto the field in front of athletes. Who the fuck behaves like that in real life?

by Anonymousreply 347June 6, 2025 3:45 PM

Charlotte has become a caricature of who she was on SATC. Why is she always taking those mincing little steps? Running around in the snow to buy her daughter condoms?

SJP has never looked worse than when she was standing in front of her house with the exterminator. I'm shocked they let her look that awful. This nonsense with Aidan, planning a future with a man who can't see her and whose children hate her.

Would anyone want to spend more than 5 minutes with Seema? She's intolerable. I get she's a "strong, independent woman" but where does that mean she has to be totally unlikable.

by Anonymousreply 348June 6, 2025 4:53 PM

All those overbearing, meddling Indian mothers who warned their sons about Seema years ago were proven right.

by Anonymousreply 350June 6, 2025 5:06 PM

R324 her acting was always very soapy and she was the weakest link

by Anonymousreply 351June 6, 2025 5:08 PM

Mario Cantone was on WWHL last night. Annoying as ever but I had no idea he's 65. He looks great for his age. But, GEEZ is he obnoxious.

by Anonymousreply 352June 6, 2025 5:10 PM

R338 that’s believable. Charlotte being super close friends with these women in her late 20s and 30s was believable. We tend to like to be around people very different than us while younger. 40s too even, maybe. But by now she definitely would be good friends with them from more of a distance in real life and have a friend she has much more in common with. Lisa and her feel like they would really be good friends.

You saying it shows growth? Why? Because Lisa is black? She’s a beautiful rich mixed race black woman who is intelligent and classy. Charlotte isn’t besties with Cardi B. Relax. Chatlotte could be closed minded at times but she was never racist.

by Anonymousreply 354June 6, 2025 5:18 PM

R340 actually, yes. A rich woman in her 50s very well COULD be focused on finding a man. Most women need relationships eventually and want to get married. It’s in their dna. Weddings are traditionally for women, not men. Men tend to thrive more being alone while women don’t.

Her clock is ticking. She’s getting near 60. She wants to bag herself a man and settle down for good before it’s officially too late and she looks way too old where no one would be interested.

by Anonymousreply 355June 6, 2025 5:19 PM

R341 good thing this isn’t the original show. The original show ended in 2004. We are in 2025. Time to stop bringing that up. This is the sequel show.

by Anonymousreply 356June 6, 2025 5:19 PM

Sorry but the first season of SATC had a completely different vibe and that’s not a positive.

SATC got better once they dropped that first season groundedness etc. the people talking into the camera? Hated that.

I think I might have forgiven all of this show's sins if instead of Miranda saying to her waitress crush "I thought you were queer", she said "I thought you were gay". Minor in the scheme of things, but it would've have resonated more with the demographic who actually watches this.

by Anonymousreply 361June 6, 2025 6:26 PM

She's one of those tired, delusional cows who only wants successful and powerful men yet resents them for devoting too much time to the endeavors that actually make them successful and powerful.

by Anonymousreply 371June 7, 2025 1:47 PM

I thought Carrie actually looked better this episode. Her hair was down.

Older women actually do better alone than older men. Women have been relegated to caretaking. When older men are widowed or divorced they don't fare as well as women.

Yes, Seema is haggard looking and was a total bitch to those dates. She doesn't like men. Maybe her and Miranda should hook up.

Charlotte's face is scary and her costumer should be shot. Those belts up under her tits do not disguise her weight gain.

by Anonymousreply 372June 7, 2025 2:30 PM

Kristin seems to have lost weight this season.

Carrie actually looked better than she has in a long time.

Seema was an unpleasant bitch to her dates. I know it was supposed to be funny, and if Samantha had reacted the same way it would come off humorous.

by Anonymousreply 373June 7, 2025 3:44 PM

Yes, Charlotte’s wardrobe makes her look like a stuffed sausage. I don’t understand it at all.

by Anonymousreply 374June 7, 2025 3:44 PM

Samantha actually liked men. Seema doesnt. She's bitter and comes across as a total cunt.

by Anonymousreply 375June 7, 2025 3:50 PM
Oddly, Miranda of all people had the most realistic story line with her rejection by waitron at the restaurant.

The New Miranda is now so sanctimonious there is no way she would have hit on a lowly waitress half her age at an expensive restaurant she dines at. Too much of a power imbalance.

And Charlotte is doing what she always did well, airhead social climbing comedy with occasional depth.

by Anonymousreply 376June 7, 2025 5:11 PM

Seema is a cunt to just about everyone

by Anonymousreply 377June 7, 2025 8:36 PM

Watching it now.

Seema at the bar was great. The only scene that would fit in SATC.

by Anonymousreply 378June 7, 2025 8:37 PM

R372 that’s statistically false. Women don’t do well alone and are far more lonely than men when they’re alone.

by Anonymousreply 379June 7, 2025 8:43 PM

R373 SEEMA IS NOT SAMANTHA

by Anonymousreply 380June 7, 2025 8:43 PM

R376 Miranda dated a bartender who couldn’t afford a suit…

You’ve clearly never watched the OG show

by Anonymousreply 381June 7, 2025 8:44 PM
[R376] Miranda dated a bartender who couldn’t afford a suit… You’ve clearly never watched the OG show

Even 20 years ago a successful woman earning more than her male partner of the same age was not controversial and not a power imbalance.

Now, a wealthy lesbian on the prowl for service pussy half her age has more red flags than a Trans Palestine protest.

by Anonymousreply 382June 7, 2025 8:53 PM

Seema rejecting all of those guys was terrible. She is so unlikable. For the record, I thought they were all hot. Probably too good for her.

by Anonymousreply 383June 7, 2025 8:56 PM

Sorry R379 but that's not true.

by Anonymousreply 384June 7, 2025 8:56 PM

R383 I know! As if that blousy mess could do any better.

We are discussing women who can’t find a man to marry her. Not the same.

by Anonymousreply 389June 7, 2025 9:05 PM

Seema is looking rough this season.

by Anonymousreply 390June 7, 2025 9:16 PM

Actually, women who have never married are happier than their married counterparts too R388.

by Anonymousreply 391June 7, 2025 9:30 PM

Not true.

by Anonymousreply 392June 7, 2025 9:32 PM

I'm just wondering who thought the public desperately needed a Rosie o Donnell and Cynthia Nixon sex scene?

by Anonymousreply 393June 7, 2025 9:38 PM

There are studies that claim women without marriage and kids are happier. But what’s never discussed is those women are still constantly in relationships. They may not be married but they’re always in relationships still. Not truly “single”.

by Anonymousreply 394June 7, 2025 9:39 PM
Seema is looking rough this season.

One of the problems with streaming is so much fucking time passes between series that you can tell.

by Anonymousreply 395June 7, 2025 9:40 PM

You're either an incel R94 or a female stuck on men. I know several women who are single and not dating and very happy. As one said, "I have a great sex toy, girlfriends, a great job, travel and do what I want when I want. Why do I need men with their baggage?" My sister is one as are most of her friends. Expand your circle and don't be so chauvinistic.

by Anonymousreply 396June 7, 2025 10:07 PM

Seema is becoming the most reviled figure in the whole franchise. I cant fathom that she is popular amongst women and the gays dislike humorless cunts.

by Anonymousreply 397June 8, 2025 11:38 AM

Seema is that friend who you know is difficult and a pain in the ass but somehow you love her anyway.

by Anonymousreply 401June 8, 2025 6:52 PM

I cut that kind of person out of my life.

by Anonymousreply 402June 8, 2025 8:02 PM

FWIW, the show is currently #1 on the Max platform.

by Anonymousreply 403June 8, 2025 8:36 PM

R403: So what. I 'm sure a lot of the popularity is hate watching.

by Anonymousreply 404June 8, 2025 8:49 PM

Low bar. There's shit on Max. It was probably Hacks two weeks ago and Gilded Age four weeks from now.

by Anonymousreply 405June 8, 2025 9:28 PM

I just don't get why they garb Carrie up in all that nonsense and think the chatter is going to help the show. She looks like a homeless person who got dressed in a hurricane downwind from the Mrs. Roper collection.

by Anonymousreply 406June 8, 2025 9:30 PM

I suspect they think so too r404. And I admit I do like them for having a whole theme about hate watching on that episode, which shows a little self-awareness. And I think overall this season is at least trying to break out of the stupid bubble they made for themselves and that lead to the dreaded Che. I appreciate that.

by Anonymousreply 407June 8, 2025 9:37 PM

The girl playing Charlotte’s daughter is bad. They should either have gotten the girl who was on Severance Season 2 or just sent the ungrateful little bitch to boarding school.
Kristen's acting wasn't this bad during the original run

Her acting really was that bad. She got a lot of leeway for being the most conventionally feminine.

by Anonymousreply 416June 9, 2025 8:18 AM

And the prettiest

by Anonymousreply 417June 9, 2025 8:22 AM

Kristen has always been a terrible actress. It’s why, despite all the famous from SATC, she hasn’t worked much.

by Anonymousreply 418June 9, 2025 10:48 AM

Hasn’t done anything!

by Anonymousreply 419June 9, 2025 10:52 AM

Seema should have been named Julie. That cunt.

by Anonymousreply 420June 9, 2025 11:06 AM

Kristin is actually pretty good in Season 1 of SATC. After that, Charlotte morphed into a marriage obsessed dingbat and she did the best she could with the material.

by Anonymousreply 421June 9, 2025 11:53 AM

Agreed R421. I just rewatched the first season. When filming without consent and revenge porn were cool and blowjobs were edgy.

by Anonymousreply 422June 9, 2025 12:26 PM

Kristin was very limited. Her negative emotional expressions were grossed-out squealing and dropping her jaw.

by Anonymousreply 423June 9, 2025 12:43 PM

I laughed a lot at this episode…not always kindly. There was some genuinely funny stuff—Cheri Oteri—but the Carrie/Adian storyline is killing any good in this show. I did laugh at the awfulness of it. We had to pause show multiple times during Carrie scenes to express our outrage, so at least we’re engaged in this mess.

Did anyone else think the dialogue about hate watching a tv show between Miranda and the waitress was written for those of us hate watching AJLT? If so, tip of the hat to self-aware writers.

by Anonymousreply 424June 9, 2025 12:53 PM

When SJP became an executive producer both Charlotte and Samantha became caricatures. SJP didn’t like the attention Kim got for being the sexiest and funniest (the most talented imo) and Kristen got for being the prettiest. In one of the first episodes after SJP became EP Charlotte is insecure about her body in the spa and moans how Carrie has the “perfect body.” There were other changes too that made Carrie look better than everyone but I’ll stop here.. .

by Anonymousreply 425June 9, 2025 12:59 PM

Sex And The City was a very diligently plotted show. Opening with “I couldn’t help but wonder”. A plot with Carrie. B plot with one of the girls. The two other girls contrasting the themes and intertwining with the others. Discussing the events at brunch. “And just like that” capping off the third act.

And Just Like That is a mess.

by Anonymousreply 426June 9, 2025 12:59 PM

R425 You are correct. Except Kim is an excellent actress and still managed to make a meal out of what they gave her.

by Anonymousreply 427June 9, 2025 1:02 PM

Until “Lawrence of my Labia”

by Anonymousreply 428June 9, 2025 1:16 PM

“I’m doing research.”

*she should

by Anonymousreply 429June 9, 2025 1:37 PM

No one could have made that line work. What an embarrassment that that line was even typed, let alone making it to the final cut.

by Anonymousreply 430June 9, 2025 1:38 PM

“ So Carrie’s making up a gilded age persona so that she can start wearing gloves all the time* and fuck the gardener?”

She’s a MacDougal now! 🍷

by Anonymousreply 431June 9, 2025 1:43 PM

That’s interesting, R425. You could absolutely feel the difference once SJP and MPK became the two main voices. Carrie became this ethereal goddess, whereas before she often pointed out her own flaws.

by Anonymousreply 442June 9, 2025 9:47 PM

Charlotte is just a caricature at this point. The whole college advisor episode was bad vaudeville. With bad comedic timing.

by Anonymousreply 443June 9, 2025 10:25 PM

The worst comedic timing.

by Anonymousreply 444June 9, 2025 10:28 PM

How does Charlotte have so much money? Her husband is an attorney but they live like kings. NOT realistique.

by Anonymousreply 445June 10, 2025 12:02 AM

Because Trey could not get hard and shoot his load inside of her, and so she got a lot of money because of that

by Anonymousreply 446June 10, 2025 12:13 AM

Her husband represents people in expensive divorces.

by Anonymousreply 447June 10, 2025 12:26 AM

At this point in their lives, both Charlotte and Harry might also have some inherited wealth. But I agree that even as a successful attorney m, that alone could not support their lifestyle on the Upper East Side, where being an attorney is essentially working class.

by Anonymousreply 448June 10, 2025 12:30 AM

She got the apartment free from her first husband, so that’s a huge advantage in a city where real estate is priced so high. And we know the apartment is pretty fancy.

by Anonymousreply 449June 10, 2025 12:49 AM

IT'S NOT THE SAME APARTMENT.

by Anonymousreply 450June 10, 2025 12:55 AM

Damn I missed that, r450, when did that happen?

by Anonymousreply 451June 10, 2025 1:02 AM

I think I read that they sold the apartment at the top of the market and bought the new apartment when apartment prices cratered during Covid.

by Anonymousreply 452June 10, 2025 1:03 AM

I don’t know any super wealthy NYC moms, but do they actually dress like Charlotte and Lisa? The outfits seemed particularly…formal and fussy when the college whisperer came over.

by Anonymousreply 453June 10, 2025 2:06 AM

It’s “And Just Like That”, R453, it’s not a documentary.

by Anonymousreply 454June 10, 2025 2:19 AM

I have a problem with the way Lisa dresses. She is supposed to be a crusading political documentary maker yet she dresses like a bimbo.

by Anonymousreply 455June 10, 2025 2:36 AM

No, she dresses like a deranged clown

by Anonymousreply 456June 10, 2025 3:30 AM

The only time she ever wore something beautiful was the red dress she wore during the episode about the Met Gala, headdress notwithstanding. They'll never top that and that's a shame.

Which character on AJLT is a regular Data Lounge READER? Seema would be to me.

by Anonymousreply 458June 10, 2025 11:55 AM

Seema is looking awfully haggard (and quite manly). She needs a light refresh with a good surgeon and to stay away from Kristen's.

by Anonymousreply 459June 10, 2025 3:58 PM

I don't get why Carrie would buy such a big Gramercy Park brownstone (and the rats weren't discovered at the inspection? Seema, you're fired) just in the event Aiden's kids needed to be there? Seems kind of desperate and trying to create insta-relationship, much like Aiden did to her when she wasn't ready to commit. Funny how now the shoe is on the other foot. She KNOWS the handwriting is on the wall that this relationship isn't going to work out. Go for the hot gardener, Carrie! Aiden is looking dry and dessicated and the two of them together seem like they should be sipping on Boniva.

I do think the show's got its mojo (finally!) and I'm mostly loving it but hating that Seema is made to be such a bitch. Her filmmaker boyfriend was obnoxious. I know! She should hook up with Steve. He's independent, has his own businesses and life and has a grown kid.

by Anonymousreply 460June 10, 2025 5:00 PM

Are Charlotte and Harry that rich? Their daughters have to share a bedroom!

by Anonymousreply 461June 10, 2025 6:18 PM

Ooops, apologies for the misgendering of the non binary child.

That should read "Are Charlotte and Harry that rich? Their two children have to share a bedroom!"

by Anonymousreply 462June 10, 2025 6:19 PM

Carrie should report Seema to the Real Estate Board of NY for selling her an overpriced property that is rat infested. If she used her sexually confused friend Miranda as the attorney for the sale, sue her ass too for not insisting on an inspection report before the closing. A real hissing cat fight over the rats would be a perfect season finale. Charlotte could sit in the corner and cry.

by Anonymousreply 463June 10, 2025 7:42 PM

R462. Their bedroom is bigger than my apartment.

by Anonymousreply 464June 10, 2025 7:42 PM

by Anonymousreply 473June 10, 2025 8:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 474June 10, 2025 8:29 PM

Let us now turn then to the prose in that book.

Oh my fuckin' God is she a bad writer of fiction.

by Anonymousreply 475June 10, 2025 8:30 PM

I’m trying to figure out why the lack of realism bothers me more with this show than the original series, or with a show like Friends. I think it’s because the unrealistic choices here are not just window dressing, but actually factor into the plot in a meaningful way. They don’t only look inauthentic, but the financial ease has taken away what could be much more interesting plot lines. From Carrie have not a care in the world to Anthony being well off enough to open a business on Madison Avenue to everyone else being able to essentially act how they want without any of the usual obstacles, it makes the show feel really artificial. As hard as they tried to capture 2020s NYC through diverse casting, they failed on the inequalities that really define the city right now.

by Anonymousreply 476June 10, 2025 8:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 513June 11, 2025 10:05 PM

I've yet to check out the new season

by Anonymousreply 514June 11, 2025 10:07 PM

I also find Chris Jackson hot, but of course DL think he's fat.

R514 thanks for sharing. I was on the edge of my seat.

by Anonymousreply 517June 12, 2025 6:16 AM

I visit NYC all the time. Crime is not rampant and Adams is a fucking Republican disguising as a Democrat. Only a Republican uses the word woke. So you can just go fuck off and leave this out of this thread.

by Anonymousreply 518June 12, 2025 10:50 PM

R518: "Only a Republican uses the word woke."

Umm, you just used it, R518.

by Anonymousreply 519June 12, 2025 11:09 PM

Girls! Girls! You’re both tedious. Get back on topic.

Aiden needs to go. There is no relationship that would work the way he wants it, plus it’s a boring af storyline.

by Anonymousreply 520June 12, 2025 11:31 PM

Aiden is portrayed by a terrible actor and the garden guy has a nice ass.

by Anonymousreply 521June 13, 2025 12:02 AM

Aiden grosses me out and always has

by Anonymousreply 522June 13, 2025 12:26 AM

woke woke woke, and I am a never MAGA, never Rep. woke woke woke some more.. I don't shrill fuck you to people, especially if I don't have the balls to do it in person and only on a keyboard.

by Anonymousreply 523June 13, 2025 12:40 AM

huh, R523? Is that an anti-Aidan post?

by Anonymousreply 524June 13, 2025 12:45 AM

picture r523 in a giant Holly Hobby hat. It's even funnier.

by Anonymousreply 525June 13, 2025 12:49 AM

Good lord, that episode was horrible.

by Anonymousreply 526June 13, 2025 1:49 AM

That hat….

by Anonymousreply 527June 13, 2025 2:00 AM

R446 clearly never watched the OG show. Charlotte inherited millions in her divorce including an apartment worth millions and all her jewelry etc. worth millions.

by Anonymousreply 528June 13, 2025 2:10 AM

R523 the show was always woke.

by Anonymousreply 529June 13, 2025 2:10 AM

Episode 3 was amazing actually. I loved it.

by Anonymousreply 530June 13, 2025 2:11 AM

Charlotte is officially Laney Berlin from the baby shower episode.

by Anonymousreply 531June 13, 2025 2:12 AM

Charlotte’s storyline was great. The older employee feeling like they have to do whatever to fit in with the younger ones to get the job done. It happens

by Anonymousreply 532June 13, 2025 2:15 AM

That episode was terrible. Horrible writing. The Charlotte scenes are getting too annoying to even hate watch. Especially the one with the Dutch guy and the fat chick. And the fat gay in the restaurant was supposed to be clever? “Old Menu” - how original.

by Anonymousreply 533June 13, 2025 2:18 AM

This was boring. Almost like a filler episode. I honestly can't get interested in Seema's or the other side character's (LTW?) problems.

by Anonymousreply 534June 13, 2025 2:22 AM

It was all so contrived and unbelievable. In real life, Charlotte’s husband would have shat himself, not just peed in his pants.

by Anonymousreply 535June 13, 2025 2:24 AM

Lots of very random plot lines. Charlotte the drug broker and the club goer. Seema has life taken out from under here and yet remains an unlikable bitch. The LTW plotline resolved so easily. SJP's softening (probably sagging) boobs do not make for a good cleavage shots. The flat tire thing was something you knew was coming. The Aiden storyline is ridiculous---doing all that for his kid is nuts.

by Anonymousreply 536June 13, 2025 2:25 AM

Disagree. It was good. Well written. And the girls were all great

by Anonymousreply 537June 13, 2025 2:25 AM

Which business has a tire slasher like that?

by Anonymousreply 538June 13, 2025 2:26 AM

R536 something happening doesn’t make it a PLOT LINE. Charlotte getting the drugs for Carrie isn’t a plot. Carrie needing the drugs is the plot. And we will probably find out more. That’s the beauty of TELEVISION. It doesn’t have to all be shown in one episode and you can find out what is happening down the line.

Is this the first tv show you’ve ever watched? And why don’t you know what plot lines are?

by Anonymousreply 539June 13, 2025 2:26 AM

New York Times recap.

by Anonymousreply 540June 13, 2025 2:28 AM

I was actually hoping Charlotte would have done a line or two giving us a plot line of Charlotte becoming a cokewhore to stay up all night with the young uns for her career.

by Anonymousreply 541June 13, 2025 2:32 AM

Dear God please cancel it this summer. I'm already dreading next week with Aidan's brats.

by Anonymousreply 542June 13, 2025 2:35 AM

The one good thing about this third episode was that the insufferable Cynthia Nixon was off-screen for most of it.

by Anonymousreply 543June 13, 2025 2:37 AM

R542 just don’t watch it. You not liking it doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t.

by Anonymousreply 544June 13, 2025 2:39 AM

Miranda falling into the background a bit actually works well

by Anonymousreply 545June 13, 2025 2:39 AM

The fat aunt from Kimberly Akimbo is back.

by Anonymousreply 546June 13, 2025 2:45 AM

I got bored quite early so while watching went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole to discover that Aiden’s ex wife Cathy is played by Rosemarie deWitt who IRL is married to Ron Livingston who in SATC played Carrie’s boyfriend Jack Berger.

Not that fascinating but slightly more interesting than this weeks ep.

by Anonymousreply 547June 13, 2025 2:51 AM

Bunny agreed to give Charlotte 'just the apartment' in the settlement and I doubt her jewelry was worth millions. I don't think she got a cash settlement or alimony.

by Anonymousreply 548June 13, 2025 2:56 AM

R548 then Trey told his mother via fax to let her have whatever she wants and to quit it. Again, you must have not watched. Bunny didn’t have the final say in the end.

Tell me you’re broke without telling me you’re broke. Good jewelry isn’t cheap. Charlotte had expensive jewelry gifted to her.

by Anonymousreply 549June 13, 2025 3:06 AM

Harry was a high end divorce lawyer, so I assume he did ok. We don't know the full extent of what she got from Trey, but she had no income of her own after the divorce. She's old enough to have dead parents who also may have given her money. Kristin Davis is a truly horrible actor, regardless and the plotlines for her tonight were stupid.

by Anonymousreply 550June 13, 2025 3:10 AM

The Aidan thing is ridiculous. People create blended families everyday or have long distance relationship where they see each other

by Anonymousreply 551June 13, 2025 3:11 AM

Bunny was on of the best recurring characters ever on SATC. Having a pushy WASP Mother was a nice substitute for the usual Italian or Jewish ones.

by Anonymousreply 552June 13, 2025 3:11 AM

R551 ok and??? Clearly something is up with Aidan and the show is building up for a reveal.

by Anonymousreply 553June 13, 2025 3:28 AM

Samantha Irby wrote this episode. No wonder it was so much better

by Anonymousreply 554June 13, 2025 3:30 AM

Anyone else find the final shot sad? Carrie, RUN.

by Anonymousreply 555June 13, 2025 3:40 AM

Plot twist: Aiden is an Adderall addict.

by Anonymousreply 556June 13, 2025 3:50 AM

Honestly, I thought this episode was really boring, with some odd false starts. What was the point of the flight attendant? What was the point of the restaurant manager? Is there a point to the Adderall?

Seema's no Samantha. She didn't work in the fourth chair and I actually softened a little on Seema this episode... she seemed a little more likeable again.

Agreed, R555, but not sad and sympathetic.

by Anonymousreply 557June 13, 2025 12:00 PM

Carrie being asked in the car by Aiden to sleep in the guesthouse was cringey. She should have called an Uber to the nearest hotel. Or pay the Uber $500 for a drive back to her gazillion dollar Gramercy Park mansion.

by Anonymousreply 558June 13, 2025 1:09 PM

Why didn’t they just have phone sex while sitting in his truck? Can this get any worse?

by Anonymousreply 559June 13, 2025 1:13 PM

“Carrie being asked in the car by Aiden to sleep in the guesthouse was cringey.”

Was wearing Aidan’s engagement ring as a necklace pendant cringey? FAFO

by Anonymousreply 560June 13, 2025 1:14 PM

I can't decide which is worse: the writing or the acting?

"so how is the writing going, Carrie?"

by Anonymousreply 561June 13, 2025 1:15 PM

Your Goober ride is here. 0r is it Guber?

I dint speak hillbilly. 😵‍💫

by Anonymousreply 562June 13, 2025 1:21 PM

If’s you did speak hillbilly, you could star in FLOYD COLLINS

by Anonymousreply 563June 13, 2025 1:32 PM

I thought the Charlotte stuff was funny. I know. I'm surprised, too. Harry pissing himself because he couldn't unbutton his skinny jeans was very relatable. Why is Aiden so afraid of his kids? And that ex wife is a cunt. I hope Carrie fucks the gardener. The LTW stuff is just plain boring.

by Anonymousreply 564June 13, 2025 1:40 PM

Oh—that gardener will fuck …but it won’t be Carrie.

Fingers crossed….

by Anonymousreply 565June 13, 2025 1:43 PM

Hope it’s not Seema. I opt for Anthony‘s boyfriend.

by Anonymousreply 566June 13, 2025 1:46 PM

Skinny, wealthy women don’t eat bread with gluten. They hardly eat at all.

by Anonymousreply 567June 13, 2025 1:47 PM

Any eldergays here ever pissed in their pants because they couldn’t and button them?

by Anonymousreply 568June 13, 2025 2:15 PM

^unbutton

by Anonymousreply 569June 13, 2025 2:16 PM

No. But a senior moment like that *could* happen…. When you’re 80.

by Anonymousreply 570June 13, 2025 2:19 PM

Just watched episode 3

Why do they have 55+ women running around like horny teenagers? That’s not how it works as women age. Not one bit.

Lisa can be removed from the show and nobody would care.

Charlotte needs to unbug her eyes

Miranda wouldn’t be this horny as a women pushing 60.

The fat girl looking for dick was ick

Carrie in that depressing guest cottage was ridiculous. She has a beautiful townhouse in Manhattan

The stories all seem out of sync with their age and for 2025. It’s a day late and a dollar short, so to speak

by Anonymousreply 571June 13, 2025 5:57 PM

Anthony's storyline is a gay cliche. When his boyfriend showed up with the overly big penis showing in the work jumper, a very well to do woman on the street stopped to say out loud to everyone, I will have whatever he is offering. Really? Not too realistic. Anthony seems to have no friends of his own besides Carrie and Charlotte show up for him. I guess with his bitchy tone and sassy ways not too many Chelsea queens are in his friend group.

by Anonymousreply 572June 13, 2025 6:08 PM
Carrie in that depressing guest cottage was ridiculous. She has a beautiful townhouse in Manhattan

More importantly, she had a hot, seemingly witty gardener she could be banging. Or at least TRYING to bang.

Aiden is a dumb, gross hillbilly. And he’s always been a whiny bitch. You just know he’s a lousy fuck.

WHY IS CARRIE SUCH A DESPERADO?!

by Anonymousreply 573June 13, 2025 6:17 PM

Was the waiter in the Virginia restaurant scene with Carrie drag performer Murray Hill?

by Anonymousreply 574June 13, 2025 6:20 PM

R546 good call in recognizing the plus size aunt in Kimberly Akimbo!

by Anonymousreply 575June 13, 2025 6:26 PM

Why is Aidan tiptoeing around his basically grown brats like this?

by Anonymousreply 576June 13, 2025 6:56 PM

“Basically grown” - the DL assault on the English language continues.

by Anonymousreply 577June 13, 2025 8:14 PM

R557 tv shows aren’t meant for someone with your …. Brain capacity. Maybe stick to Marvel. We know you watch that based on your posting histories

by Anonymousreply 578June 13, 2025 8:30 PM

R557 SEEMA IS NOT SAMANTHA. LET THIS SINK IN. SHE ISNT SAMANTHA. SHES A MIDDLE EASTERN WOMAN NAMED SEEMA. SHE IS HER OWN CHARACTER.

by Anonymousreply 579June 13, 2025 8:33 PM

Anthony's Boyfriend's penis was positioned completely wrong. They can't even get that right.

by Anonymousreply 580June 13, 2025 8:35 PM

Seema is Indian not Middle Eastern, R579.

by Anonymousreply 581June 13, 2025 8:42 PM

R581 a brown woman. Not Samantha Jones. Thanks for confirming.

by Anonymousreply 582June 13, 2025 8:42 PM

Your penis doesn’t have a particular position when in super tight clothing. You also can reposition it so it’s less uncomfortable. Clearly you don’t have a penis.

by Anonymousreply 583June 13, 2025 8:44 PM

I don’t have a rubber penis that slides upwards in tights, R583.

by Anonymousreply 584June 13, 2025 8:45 PM

R584 you don’t have a penis period. It’s obvious

by Anonymousreply 585June 13, 2025 8:51 PM

Funny Charlotte is good Charlotte. What is the point of the non binary daughter? At least the Chinese daughter is getting dick. But without Charlotte this episode would have been pointless.

Miranda being a boring lesbian is fine if it results in less time for Cynthia Nixon, mother of Jewish children.

And Carrie was just fine. Boring but fine. Is Aiden an anti vaxxer anti med guy who doesn't want his children sedated?

Lisa is interesting when with Charlotte, pointless without.

And Seema showed some more character. Sarita Chaudhury's English accent came out at one point.

And Anthony and the bread. I guess 4 minutes of screen time is enough

by Anonymousreply 586June 13, 2025 8:57 PM

I’m surprised i’m nott hating it. It felt like a breeze watching it. Tho admittedly ff BLTs scenes or whatever her name is.

by Anonymousreply 587June 13, 2025 9:05 PM

Seema at the bar knocking out man after man after man was great. Where do we see that actress with that crisp writing more often?
