Elisabeth Moss on Variety cover

Is this real? That's one unflattering look.

by Anonymousreply 84May 30, 2025 1:29 AM

I think the added weight actually helps balance out her forehead.

by Anonymousreply 1May 28, 2025 8:10 PM

Covers it, like a bad tapestry. She's a wall of woman

by Anonymousreply 2May 28, 2025 8:10 PM

I hope she’s pregnant!

by Anonymousreply 3May 28, 2025 8:13 PM

She's looked increasingly obese over the years despite Scientology cult blind adherence that makes acolytes objects of perfection. IOW, she looks like shit.

by Anonymousreply 4May 28, 2025 8:14 PM

Target mom realness 🎯.

by Anonymousreply 5May 28, 2025 8:15 PM

Moonface thread.

Offred Mertz

by Anonymousreply 7May 28, 2025 8:20 PM

She looks like Merritt Wever, what the fuck.

by Anonymousreply 8May 28, 2025 8:21 PM

Datalounge people say what you will about Elisabeth Moss but she still looks and is aging far better than the DL Icon we LOVE to hate

LENS Dunham- I'm tempted to start a thread just based on this photo of our Lens.

The Handmaid’s Whale

by Anonymousreply 10May 28, 2025 8:24 PM

She would look so much better with extreme bangs, Claudia Winkleman-style. That Scandinavian fivehead costs her more work than Scientology.

by Anonymousreply 11May 28, 2025 8:24 PM

Kathy Bates before ozempic.

by Anonymousreply 12May 28, 2025 8:27 PM

Scientologists are against pharmaceuticals so I guess Ozempic et al are prohibited.

by Anonymousreply 13May 28, 2025 8:27 PM

The choice of clothing is even more surprising to me than the weight gain

by Anonymousreply 14May 28, 2025 8:30 PM

Goodbye, June. Hello, MAMA June.

by Anonymousreply 15May 28, 2025 8:35 PM

She was pregnant, probably, when that photo was taken. She had a baby pretty recently.

by Anonymousreply 16May 28, 2025 8:37 PM

Should've gone on O the second that umbilical cord was cut. No excuse.

The trade-off is the dreaded "Ozempic face" and numerous undesirable side effects

by Anonymousreply 20May 28, 2025 8:42 PM

She was PREGNANT, FFS. Geezus.

by Anonymousreply 21May 28, 2025 8:51 PM

R21. That's not an excuse here on DL.

by Anonymousreply 22May 28, 2025 8:56 PM

Tory Christman says it very common for people on the upper OT levels to gain a significant amount of weight.

by Anonymousreply 23May 28, 2025 9:01 PM

R21 - I never realized women gained weight in their shoulders, upper arms, and necks during pregnancy, so much so they're rendered to look like busty NFL linebackers.

by Anonymousreply 24May 28, 2025 9:03 PM

If Conan O'Brien transitioned.

by Anonymousreply 25May 28, 2025 9:04 PM

Don't r25. It will trigger r18.

[quote]Breaking news: women retain weight after pregnancy.

Ok but explain the dress, blazer, hair and makeup. Carrying extra weight doesn't mean you have to give up.

by Anonymousreply 27May 28, 2025 9:23 PM

She was pregnant. The problem is the outfit and her limp hair. A pink blazer over a print mumu? Ghastly.

by Anonymousreply 28May 28, 2025 9:26 PM

She reminds me of the late actress Shirley Knight (particularly in "Endless Love") in this photo.

by Anonymousreply 29May 28, 2025 9:36 PM

The real sin is not the weight. It's the blazer.

by Anonymousreply 30May 28, 2025 9:39 PM

a cross between Diane Sawyer and Miss Piggy.

by Anonymousreply 31May 28, 2025 9:47 PM

Leave her alone, she looks great!

Can Sea Orgs be fired?

by Anonymousreply 35May 28, 2025 10:23 PM

Her averageness is what wins her roles

by Anonymousreply 36May 28, 2025 10:25 PM

Roles or rolls? Both maybe?

by Anonymousreply 37May 28, 2025 10:28 PM

I'm severely traumatized by that photo of Lens R9!

by Anonymousreply 38May 28, 2025 10:36 PM

[quote]R29 She reminds me of the late actress Shirley Knight (particularly in "Endless Love") in this photo.

Who was gorgeous, might I say.

I do hope Miss Moss doesn’t go on to explode completely, like she did. (Though maybe that ultimately opened up more roles for her.)

by Anonymousreply 39May 28, 2025 11:00 PM

Her stylist needs to be fired. Loudly and with vigor.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks she looks pretty good. A bit of lipstick, not much else. She looks like a person, which is rather refreshing.

by Anonymousreply 42May 29, 2025 12:53 AM

She just looks so washed out.

by Anonymousreply 43May 29, 2025 1:20 AM

[quote] Is this real? That's one unflattering look.

She can't do flattering no matter how hard she tries.

by Anonymousreply 44May 29, 2025 1:24 AM

[quote]She can't do flattering no matter how hard she tries.

Which is why I think she looks good. She's not trying to look like anything but what she is. She looks better to me than Nicole Kidman in that sense.

by Anonymousreply 45May 29, 2025 1:27 AM

God, Martin Hewitt was a hot hot hottie.

by Anonymousreply 46May 29, 2025 1:53 AM

I agree that her realness is better than Nicole’s fakery. But there’s a huge middle ground between the two. She doesn’t need plastic surgery or clothes from JLo’s closet. But those rags look like they came from the donation bin. And the dress is all crooked on her.

by Anonymousreply 47May 29, 2025 1:56 AM

She looks like some 80s house frau.

Or borderline Mormon.

by Anonymousreply 48May 29, 2025 2:19 AM

Since she is an actress, it could be argued that it doesn’t matter what she looks like when she’s offscreen.

by Anonymousreply 49May 29, 2025 2:57 AM

Funny how she can look both pregnant and post-menopausal at the same time. Kidding.

People have complained here in the past about Moss being "hard on the eyes" (going as far back as her Peggy Olson days). However, a plain, undistinguished, "blank slate" face can be such an asset for an actress, because it allows them to really 'disappear' into roles. I would put Samantha Morton, Vicki Krieps, and Anne Marie McDonald in that same category: character actresses (sorry, actors) who consistently play leads.

by Anonymousreply 50May 29, 2025 3:06 AM

Sorry, those weren't the best examples: Samantha Morton USED to play leads before her career fell off a cliff, Vicki Krieps, with apologies to Vin Diesel, plays leads "in Europe," and Anne Marie McDonald is mostly just a solid character actress. Unsurprisingly, there really aren't that many female stars who are not conventionally good-looking. Moss is one of the few.

by Anonymousreply 51May 29, 2025 3:16 AM

Maybe we don’t care anymore. Men are weaponized now.

by Anonymousreply 52May 29, 2025 5:12 AM

She looks like she knows the Dewey Decimal System by heart.

by Anonymousreply 53May 29, 2025 5:18 AM

She won't name the father which I take to mean anonymous sperm bank donor.

by Anonymousreply 54May 29, 2025 5:31 AM

[quote] She looks like she knows the Dewey Decimal System by heart.

641.5 is her favourite.

by Anonymousreply 57May 29, 2025 7:56 AM

R9! How DARE you post whatever that is here and make all our retinas commit suicide and fall out on the floor. You deserve a Christmas tree slap for such reckless behaviour!

by Anonymousreply 58May 29, 2025 8:10 AM

I think the jacket is too loose/doesn't fit & makes her look heavier; also, she looks like she had some work to her face (cheek fillers?) that give her face a bit of a lumpy, misshapen look. Nothing wrong with getting older and a bit heavier, but she looks bloated & sloppy instead of having that pregnancy glow

by Anonymousreply 59May 29, 2025 8:33 AM

I just watched The Handmaid's Tale finale last night and thought she was looking quite chunky. I had no idea she was a Scientologist. That's disappointing.

by Anonymousreply 60May 29, 2025 8:44 AM

[quote]r27 Ok but explain the dress, blazer, hair and makeup.

Well, the oversized blazer, at least, is a fashion trend right now.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 61May 29, 2025 9:34 AM

Even if she stayed in the same outfit, but had it all professionally tailored to her proportions, she would look a million times better (even if it's still a hideous outfit). It looks like she was in the dress and in the middle of the photo shoot they decided that her arms and hips must be covered, so they grabbed a blazer from the back of Debbie in Accounting's chair.

by Anonymousreply 62May 29, 2025 9:43 AM

[Quote]Scientologists are against pharmaceuticals so I guess Ozempic et al are prohibited.

They're just against psych meds as far as I know. Christian Scientists are the ones who are against all pharmaceuticals (and most medical intervention).

by Anonymousreply 63May 29, 2025 10:02 AM

And I want it back R62.

by Anonymousreply 64May 29, 2025 10:22 AM

Early on in her mad men days I thought she had a certain beauty , with exotic Eastern European features kind of like milla jovovich, but damn she’s really gone kind of sloppy.

by Anonymousreply 65May 29, 2025 10:58 AM

[quote]Fire her makeup and hair people.

Firing squad, more like.

by Anonymousreply 66May 29, 2025 11:45 AM

There's a little mold in that moss.

by Anonymousreply 67May 29, 2025 12:05 PM

She was always extremely ugly. Its not like that changes when she's thinner.

by Anonymousreply 68May 29, 2025 12:57 PM

My name is Miss Johnson. I will be your second grade teacher.

by Anonymousreply 69May 29, 2025 3:11 PM

At least she would be thinner R68.

by Anonymousreply 70May 29, 2025 3:39 PM

[quote] Since she is an actress, it could be argued that it doesn’t matter what she looks like when she’s offscreen.

It does if she's coming to parade in front of the cameras for celebrity magazines. It would be one thing if this was just what she wore on the street.

by Anonymousreply 71May 29, 2025 3:53 PM

She was definitely attractive when she was thinner and gussied up right. I'd say she's always been about on par with [a less manic pixied] Drew Barrymore, in terms of hotness.

by Anonymousreply 72May 29, 2025 4:28 PM

In terms of lead actresses, Elizabeth Moss has the ugliest face in Hollywood. Mushy-faced Sydney Sweeney is runner up.

by Anonymousreply 73May 29, 2025 5:45 PM

A black or navy silk kaftan style dress with a statement necklace would have been fabulous with a strong lip.

Sack the stylist.

by Anonymousreply 74May 29, 2025 5:50 PM

How does she still get work?

by Anonymousreply 75May 29, 2025 5:54 PM

She's got some Scieno connections in showbiz.

They (connections) are definitely there...look at Tammy Cruise, John Travolta, Jason Lee, Leah Remini (now ex-Scieno), Kirstie Alley, Jenna Elfman, Laura Prepon, Danny Masterson, Anne Archer, etc. etc.

by Anonymousreply 76May 29, 2025 6:15 PM

R76 Apart from Tammy, absolutely none of those people have any sway in showbiz. Laura Prepon and Cruise are the only ones still working in that group.

I haven't seen any evidence that Scientology actually helps anyone's careers in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 77May 29, 2025 6:54 PM

She is not very photogenic.

by Anonymousreply 78May 29, 2025 6:59 PM

Elisabeth Moss Says ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’ Was the ‘Perfect’ Song for ‘Handmaid’s Tale’

"It's such an honor to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show," Handmaid's star & EP Elisabeth Moss exclusively tells Billboard.

r77 - I am NOT saying those people I listed have sway in Hollywood...I'm saying that there are Scientology connections in Hollywood who can - AND DO - get up and coming actors/actresses jobs, employed in professions that SERVE Hollywood/acting (think agents, casting, etc.).

This is/was well-known and has been for years. It's why the Church of Scientology has a huge presence (not to mention their International Headquarters) in Hollywood. There are plenty of other working actors I didn't list who are also Scientologists, and it's been a racket to get doe-eyed, would-be actors in the doors of the Scientology establishments with the promise of making it big in Hollywood. I suppose I didn't fully formulate my post to include my actual meaning of the Scientologists in Hollywood who aren't actors, but still work in the biz.

Hell, even my GRANDMOTHER - who worked as a waitress in Hollywood/LA for many years during the 60s/70s/80s and waited on movie stars of all sorts - had an L. Ron Hubbard "Dianetics" book in her "library." Before all the exposes/shows/specials on Scientology, their presence was fairly pervasive.

by Anonymousreply 80May 29, 2025 8:46 PM

Ten years ago, she had a cute shape. She was not a stick, and had a bit of padding, but she was shapely.

Even in the early seasons of THT, she looked much younger than she does now.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 81May 30, 2025 12:55 AM

Of course she looked much younger in earlier seasons of The Handmaid's Tale than she does now...because she IS older now.

However, her choice of hairstyle and outfit really looks like she was styled by someone from the Midwest in the 80s who was going for the "businesswoman but soft" look.

by Anonymousreply 82May 30, 2025 12:59 AM

Geez, did that woman eat Elizabeth Moss?

by Anonymousreply 83May 30, 2025 1:06 AM

Cow? Pig?

No. Member of a cult that benefits from slavery. Look up Sea Org.
