MGM Vegas room service now has $25 fee for plates and silverware
[quote]MGM refers to these luxuries as “Classic Service” and guests are dinged $25 (called an “operation charge”) for what used to be free. Shocker. Room service customers can opt for “Takeout Service,” where your food is delivered in boxes with plastic lids ($10).
I guess parking fees, processing fees, and resort fees weren't enough.

I think they figure room service guests are either wealthy, or traveling on expenses.

Boy, are they going to regret this when travel and tourism drops off a cliff due to the shitty economy. This is that “cutting off your nose to spite your face” in action.

I think they're just gouging everyone they can in every way they can, R1. Let's not overthink late stage capitalism. There isn't some consortium at MGM Vegas running the data on household incomes before making a change like this. They simply know that many won't notice and many will just take the extra cost in stride, and their profits will grow ever higher, while quality of life for the plebs keeps going lower and lower for less and less.

This choice was needed because the kind of people who stay in the MGM Resorts always steal the plates and flatware.
And while I would never stay at such a place, I always travel with my own silver and china so it wouldn't matter if I did.

First it was the New York mafia that ran the town. Then it was the Chicago mafia. Now it’s the Corporate Mafia.
