Do you track your daily steps? How many do you take a day?

I know I will be accused of being a frau or some marketing troll, but I've discovered that using the fitness app on my Apple Watch is a great for keeping track of my activity and burned calories during the day.

7.

7 steps every day.

Jesus no. What would be the point in that? Annoying references to "steps" all day?

From some Google Maps calculations, today i walked 13km or 8mi. I probably walk that much 2 days a week and the other days half that on average.

I take between 10,000 and 15,000 steps a day on average.

My phone does it automatically as I keep it in my pocket. I average 7,000 steps a day or so not counting the gym.

by Anonymousreply 4May 26, 2025 9:59 PM

Approx. 12,000 steps per day, which equates to 5.5 miles, considering my stride is rather long. I guess people with shorter strides have to take more steps to get equivalent mileage?

The last few days I've been using an elliptical "fake bicycle" thingy to add another mile to my daily count, takes about 20 minutes with little resistance.

I also do about 10,000 steps. It helps because I walk about 4 miles a day.

More if I’m at the stores walking around, like Costco, Sams or Walmart.

My iPhone tracks my steps, as well, and warns me at the end of the day my 'step count' is down (severely). Probably because when I'm at work and running all over the hospital, I tend to leave my phone behind (purposely, for a variety of reasons) so it's not tracking my steps properly.

I originally thought the whole step counting thing was silly. That was pre covid. During quarantine I was shocked how little I moved during the day so I started keeping track. With my gym (and everything else) shut down, I started walking every day in the park. I've kept it up and try to do 5 miles (90 minutes) of brisk walking at least every other day.

It’s kind of hard to count steps from my couch.

by Anonymousreply 9May 26, 2025 11:29 PM

I do about 10000 steps. I was shocked when I got my watch. If you had asked me, I would have said 100. I had NO idea. I'm a teacher and the more I walk around my room, the more steps I get.

by Anonymousreply 10May 26, 2025 11:30 PM

I walk 8 miles a day for exercise. I don't know how much I walk in my regular life, maybe one or two miles.

by Anonymousreply 11May 26, 2025 11:32 PM

I make it a point to get 12,000 steps a day.

by Anonymousreply 12May 27, 2025 3:56 AM

R12 That’s about my average and that includes running at least 15 miles a week in the summer.

by Anonymousreply 13May 27, 2025 4:04 AM

My phone tracks my steps, which can be anything from 2-3000 steps if I am working from home and dont have time to do much, or sick, up to 30,000-40,000 steps if I go for a long hike. Doesnt record my bike rides or swims ( I record my bike riding with a separate app and thats about 150 km a week on average)
