Cotton Candy Grapes - dear lord they are good

I never bought them until this weekend. I wonder what cheese they pair with.

Goat cheese, for sure

Once heard from a grower that the trick involves spraying them with liquid fennel while they are growing to achieve the distinctive taste - sounded like bullshit at the time but it kinda tracks. Love them. Hus & I marvel at their size, density, and deliciousness when they are at peak - totally worth the cost. When they're prime, they are the most sublime green grape I have ever had. As killer as a Sumo Mandarin.

I agree-- so good.

I thought people who told me they tasted like candy were making shit up but it’s true

R1 I don't understand why spraying them with liquid fennel adds to their flavor. Fennel has a licorice/anise flavor.

I don't want to know the calorie content. I'm glad they aren't available all year where I live. A month is enough!

I don’t buy grapes anymore, I have a Labrador

by Anonymousreply 11May 26, 2025 6:42 AM

Try them with Fontina Val D’Aosta.

by Anonymousreply 12May 26, 2025 7:17 AM

Nah, cheesy poofs

Red grapes go really well with Asiago. I haven't tried the CC grapes so I don't know what would pair with them, but maybe Parmigiano?
