Random question about Johan Hari and Andrew Sullivan
I’m listening to an audiobook narrated by the author, Johan Hari. In the book, he refers to himself by name several times and pronounces it, “Joe-Han.”
He mentions being friends with Andrew Sullivan yet when Sullivan had him on his show he introduced him as “Yo-Han.” It’s weird to me that someone wouldn’t know how to say his friend’s first name.

I've only ever heard it pronounced Yo-hann. I think his father is Swiss, so this makes sense. I've also never heard him correct this spelling when used by others (I also doubt he would change it for American audiences).
Speaking of names and how they're pronounced: it's like those people who claim to be personal friends of JK Rowling and don't know it's pronounced Roe-ling (rhymes with "bowling"). A sure giveway that they're bullshitting.
All that aside, Hari has a somewhat dodgy reputation: first for plagiarism over a decade ago (bad enough that he felt compelled to return his Orwell Prize) and more recently for inaccuracies in his book about Ozempic, "Magic Pill."
