With all the crazy crap going on these days, do you have a Ring camera?

I keep seeing how people would have been screwed if someone hadn't been filming.

Do you have a Ring camera on your front door or other security cameras covering other entrances? Do you have security cameras inside your house, nanny cams or otherwise?

I finally caved and got a motions detection camera for inside because I'm worried that someone might enter when I'm not home. I turn it off when I'm home. When detection is on, it sends notifications to my phone. From there I can grab stills or simply push record and capture live video. It also has a mic/speaker, and I can even trigger an alarm to sound to startle an intruder.

The only thing that creeps me out is that someone could hack it. Fortunately, I'm relatively boring and don't have it covering areas where someone would watch or care. It's purely for security in case someone enters when I'm not there.

No, I have a Ring TV and if anyone tries to fuck with me or my home a ghost crawls out of the screen and gets them.

No, but both my neighbors do, so I guess between them, I'm covered if there is a crime.

I don't have one because, on NextDoor, people are always reporting that their neighborhood punks single them out to prank them. They seem like an invitation to harassment.

R3, what do the punks do?

by Anonymousreply 4May 24, 2025 12:36 AM

No, I have an 8 year old cat.

I feel safe.

Locally I feel like I see reports of people catching cougars on their ring cam. Sometimes in the middle of the burbs.

R4, They turn over garbage cans and steal mail and other punk activities, but they ring the doorbell to notify the homeowner, knowing nothing will be done to them. I'm single and old and alone, but I feel like I'd be daring my neighbors to pick on me if I had one.

I don’t. I just slap them across their face with my dick.

Mine kept giving me all kinds of false alerts so I don't use it that way anymore, but it does still record people who come up to my door. I just got an email a few minutes ago that they're raising the price of their monitored alarm system (I have that from Ring too, but I rarely set it) from $150 to $199/year. I should probably ditch it.
