Are we sure he hasn’t been diagnosed with Neil Patrick Harris?

Which one of you assholes ate my pasta???
[italic]Christie Brinkley was hesitant to mention her ex-husband Billy Joel’s blackout snacking in her new memoir.
The model recalled in “Uptown Girl” (released Tuesday) that the singer once drunkenly ate spaghetti from a large pan on the stove before accusing his family of eating his pasta and kicking them out of the house.
“I hesitated to put that scene in the book,” she told the Los Angeles Times in an interview published Tuesday. “But at the same time, it demonstrates what I was up against.”[/italic]

Hydrocephalus isn't a brain disorder. It's a physical set of conditions that can affect the brain.
He should get able to fully treat that surgically. I have hydrocephalus as a result of being knocked down by a drunk driver when I was 16.
I've had two brain surgeries ("This explains a great deal." - DL) because the first shunt got infected and had to be removed. It's not a death sentence by any means, if this is the full extent of his diagnosis.

Ignore the typos in my reply. Its the hydrocephalus and NOT my fat fucking fingers.
He should be able to get that fully treated surgically, is what I meant to write. They'll shave half his head and he'll get a lucky horseshoe of a scar he can show off. The results will be immediate, once he's up and about.
Assuming the hydrocephalus has caused no brain injury from the pressure of the spinal fluid on the brain, he should be okay. I lost 60% of my short term memory. His situation was probably much more gradual.

Thank mok. I have a friend who's had some kind of drainage tube for fluid for most of her life. She doesn't talk much about it. I wonder if it's the same thing.

Elder here. 8 years younger than BJ. The guy is undeniably talented and successful. I wish him well.

It's hopefully a non-event once the surgery is done and the shunt stays clean, R9. Kids have to get the part of the shunt that runs down your body replaced as they grow, but adults should be fine with the sections they're originally fitted with.
Mine got infected in surgery so my body started rejecting the shunt. That wasn't so great. It's just something you have to look out for - signs of potential infection.
I hope your friend is doing well. It's a serious procedure, but pretty much always a necessary one if the intercranial pressure is bad enough.

She's doing well. Thanks. We used to be neighbors and about ten years ago her boyfriend told me she was in the hospital to have it replaced. It was the first I'd heard of it.
At the time she was more pissed off about losing part of her thick curly hairdo. She allowed it to stay uneven and it looked pretty good a few months later.
We don't talk much about it but apparently it gave her a lot of trouble in her teens. Dropped out of school etc, thinking she was dumb. She eventually returned and went on to become a chef. She's in her 40s now.

Brain damage is no joke, R12. Surgery is always the last option with a time consuming recovery. I have needed a replacement shunt for decades, but I can't afford to take a year out of my life to do it, and there's no guarantee infection won't happen again.
It's also shitty learning your new limitations. Thank God I never wanted to be, say, an accountant. I have zero numeric retention. When I was younger, it was depressing to realize these deficits weren't ever coming back. And brain injury brings personality changes, often. Art therapy helps tremendously.
