Trump's Treasury Department is saying so long to the penny
The Treasury Department will begin phasing out the penny early next year, ending a run for a mainstay piece of American currency first produced by the federal government in the 1790s.
This month, Treasury has made its final order of penny blanks — the material used to make pennies — and its coin producer at the US Mint will continue to manufacture pennies while an inventory of penny blanks exists.
But production will cease after that inventory runs out, a decision first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

If you pay by credit card, and it comes to $21.18, that won't get rounded up to $21.20, right?

Yes, it will get rounded up. Do you really think stores are going to have the capacity to have two separate totals for people who are paying by cash or otherwise?
Yet another thing this administration doesn't think through.

I think that businesses will be forced to change their prices to amounts ending in either a five or a zero.
There will no longer be pricing of .01, .02, .03, .04, .06, .07, .08, or .09.
Everything will end with .05, .10, .15, .20, .25, .30, .35, .40, .45, .50, .55, .60, .65, .70, .75, .80, .85, .90, .95, or .00.

I think that coins will eventually be phased out.
I know of a casino that doesn't accept any coins at all.
It's quite annoying.
