Carnivale

Loved it. Only what-18 episodes total? But told the story and told it well.

Plus Betty Buckley voraciously eating hand sanitizer. Grandma Yetta giving a blowjob to Harry Dean Stanton. Naked June Squib getting caught in a door.

This was my favorite scene. Varla was a Datalounger.

Amazing show - based on British show, but just as good.

by Anonymousreply 4May 23, 2025 1:06 AM

Thank you for the reminder. A truly wonderfully crafted and performed show.

by Anonymousreply 5May 23, 2025 1:13 AM

Absolutely! I will add Enlightenment.

I agree with you, OP — agree with R6 also.

I never heard of this show but loved the clip! Where can I find Getting On?

by Anonymousreply 8May 23, 2025 6:04 AM

I loved the British version, but I do think the HBO version might be better.

R8 Max.

I don't know if this was underrated in the UK, but I've NEVER read or heard about it in the US until I found it on Prime TV. There was an American version, but it's not REMOTELY as good. It's called "Friday Night Dinner."

Woah boy...more proof that British humor is far superior.

I agree, OP. Devastatingly good. Alex Borstein, Niecey Nash and Laurie Metcalf -all brilliant.

R10 It’s HBO Max again.

by Anonymousreply 13May 23, 2025 3:41 PM

R6 are you in the wrong thread? WTF are you talking about?

by Anonymousreply 14May 23, 2025 3:49 PM

I think they said they like this show, R14, and also liked “Enlightenment” with Laura Dern.
