I don’t see old ladies with blue hair anymore

Are they all dead?

by Anonymousreply 29May 23, 2025 2:24 AM

Do forty year-olds count?

by Anonymousreply 1May 22, 2025 8:38 PM

They now have varying shades of maroon. Aka "menopause red." Especially in Europe.

by Anonymousreply 2May 22, 2025 8:42 PM

Fashion changes.

by Anonymousreply 3May 22, 2025 8:44 PM

They went the way of pink flocked Christmas trees.

by Anonymousreply 4May 22, 2025 8:48 PM

Yes, OP. It's not 1970 anymore. Most women have zero concerns about either dying their hair even if it's obvious, or just letting it go grey.

by Anonymousreply 5May 22, 2025 8:49 PM

I used purple-tinted shampoo to make my grey hair sparkle, and I'm a man.

by Anonymousreply 6May 22, 2025 8:57 PM

The blue hair was a mistake from using too much purple shampoo.

by Anonymousreply 7May 22, 2025 9:07 PM

R2 is correct. I hate that maroon-purple hair, like La Osbourne. Hideous. No one's skin looks good with this color.

Now it's royal blue

by Anonymousreply 9May 22, 2025 9:18 PM

Another thing those damn trans kids coopted for themselves!

by Anonymousreply 10May 22, 2025 9:24 PM

Seriously though what was the story with old ladies and blue hair? We're just talking tints of blue right?

by Anonymousreply 11May 22, 2025 9:28 PM

Yes r11. Even more tinge than tint. Not always noticeable in certain light. Kind of like how my 75 year-old brother's "brown" hair looks orange in sunlight.

by Anonymousreply 12May 22, 2025 9:41 PM

This now for all ages in Flyoverstan. You should have seen the monstrosity that checked me out at the Walmart. I mean the transaction itself…. Had this dark teal color with awful roots.

by Anonymousreply 13May 22, 2025 9:42 PM

Ohhh. My mother just explained that it was certain types of hair products of old that if not used properly or exposed to certain elements or moisture could cause the blue color.

by Anonymousreply 14May 22, 2025 9:48 PM

When you're old and your hair turns white it can look dull and take on an unpleasant yellow tone. Washing in a slight hint of blue can make it look better, but if you overdo it it just turns it blue or purple.

by Anonymousreply 15May 22, 2025 9:49 PM

My mother had a circle of blue rinse women friends. She once explained (as did R15) that the blue was a check against a pissy yellow cast.

by Anonymousreply 16May 22, 2025 9:55 PM

I actually see a lot of older women experimenting with the different colors that young people are wearing - pink, red, blue, gold, green - not the WHOLE head obviously.

It's fun and refreshing to see older women not have that default white, permed or helmet hair. I'm all for it.

by Anonymousreply 17May 22, 2025 10:10 PM

Ladies who tint their hair bizarre colours are just dead common!

by Anonymousreply 18May 22, 2025 10:16 PM

I'm right here, Hon

My hip sixty-something friend has had not the blue rinse in her hair but GenZ blue streaks put in her hair

by Anonymousreply 20May 22, 2025 10:19 PM

I see Sharon Osbourne finally has the face she deserves.

by Anonymousreply 21May 22, 2025 10:24 PM

Kim Novak was originally popularly known as the Lavender blonde, dilly dilly.

by Anonymousreply 22May 22, 2025 10:33 PM

They're drooling with extensions tied to the back of their heads now.

by Anonymousreply 23May 22, 2025 10:47 PM

Why did old ladies have blue hair back in the day?

by Anonymousreply 24May 22, 2025 10:52 PM

There came a time when the people who used the phrase "blue hair brigade" were ancient themselves

by Anonymousreply 25May 22, 2025 10:58 PM

a gay expression we used for the olds

I like blue hair.

by Anonymousreply 28May 23, 2025 1:39 AM

I see people all the time with white/grey hair that have that hideous yellow tint to it and I always think they could do with a good blue rinse. The yellow tint in grey/white hair is awful!
