CNN Style • With Elsa Klensch • 1993-95 / approx 3 hours of footage

With her signature bob and distinctive Australian accent — she grew up in Australia — she became a familiar figure, reporting from London, Paris, New York and Milan with interviews and video of runway collections. I was not and have never been a fashion aficionado, but I [italic]loved[/italic] watching Elsa Klensch! There was something so classy about her -- I don't know, She was just fun to watch.

R2? Tell me you're a young'un without telling me you're a young'un.

by Anonymousreply 3May 21, 2025 5:08 PM

I'm an old'un and I'm telling you I'm an old'un.

by Anonymousreply 4May 21, 2025 5:13 PM

I can't believe she was bludgeoned to death by Karl Lagerfeld!

by Anonymousreply 5May 21, 2025 5:15 PM

I don't have three hours for a visit with my dying mother, much less Elsa Klensch.

by Anonymousreply 6May 21, 2025 5:39 PM

Has *all* the supermodels.

by Anonymousreply 7May 21, 2025 6:29 PM

God, does this bring back memories. Speaking of things you found "uniquely glamorous" as a child.

The past is indeed a foreign country.

by Anonymousreply 8May 21, 2025 6:37 PM

Why did this show end? Seems it filled a specific niche with a loyal audience.

by Anonymousreply 9May 21, 2025 6:40 PM

She earned a quality NYT obit

"Psssst.... Stock up on Italian knits. They're gonna be HOT!"

by Anonymousreply 11May 21, 2025 6:53 PM

"Wait a minute, Prada is a real person& has a 1st name" I once asked Elsa that at a fundraiser in NYC in 1994

Well, it’s not like Philly was any kind of hotspot for European culture, much less fashion.

Had no idea she died in 2022, or that she was born in 1930. Her married name is über-German (her maiden name too: Aeschbacher).

by Anonymousreply 14May 21, 2025 7:30 PM

If there was an Elsa Klensch, is there an Elsa Unklensch?

by Anonymousreply 15May 21, 2025 7:33 PM

I mentioned her in my “What did you consider uniquely glamorous as a child?” thread.

She was so international and sophisticated to my suburban self.

Yes, and her sister, Pearla
