The Little Gay Pub (LGP) in DC is wonderful. It was immediately popular when it opened and has only grown in popularity since. There’s a bathroom there that has become an iconic “selfie bathroom.” I’m sure the Philly location will as well.

Right. Friends went last night and enjoyed the vibe

by Anonymousreply 4May 21, 2025 2:30 PM

Cheers to these guys. I like the concept. Will pop in next time I am in Philadelphia.

Hope it does well - but opening a bar, particularly a gay bar, is a risky investment nowadays. So many places have closed or have dropped off in popularity. Sounds like it's going to be more of a food and drinks place rather than just a bar/club - which is probably a smarter move in today's climate.

Slightly annoyed that one of the owners said the term 'gayborhood' was coined in Philadelphia. Uh - not it wasn't. But no real harm done.

by Anonymousreply 6May 21, 2025 2:57 PM

It wasn’t? It’s been called that for over thirty years

by Anonymousreply 7May 21, 2025 3:11 PM

R7 - every gay ghetto is called a gayborhood - it's not special to Philly or came from there.

It's such an obvious pun.

by Anonymousreply 8May 21, 2025 11:56 PM

Philly lost two bars this year, so this is welcome news.

I agree. And it is a nice surprise as a place considering how dreadful woody’s has become with it’s affidavit you have to sign when you enter and all that

by Anonymousreply 10May 22, 2025 12:23 AM

What affidavit, r10? All the bachelorette still going in there?

We aged out of Woodys so we would never even bother going in. It’s U bar if anything.

R12 - bull - it's from a Philly site. Just because they officially call themselves that it doesn't mean that term wasn't around for a long time way before that. They even said the term couldn't be found in any archive in Philly before 1999.

I've heard the term 'gayborhood' for decades. I'll admit they're probably the only one to official call themselves that.

But that's like saying Gay Village in Montreal created that phrase. It didn't.

Went tonight and it is cute. Well staffed and vertical as the DC one is horizontal. It rained tonight but the tiny roof deck will be BANANAS this summer

by Anonymousreply 14May 22, 2025 2:25 AM

Friday night!
