When Music is trash, is the Cover Song dead?

This first came to my attention with everyone and their mother all of a sudden making their version of Radiohead’s Creep from thirty-three years ago. And we have the popularity of Kate Bush’s Running up that Hill or Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game which predates Creep. With music being more trash than not, more disposable than groundbreaking, for the last twenty-five years - the idea of a cover song (unless done ironically) seems to be dead. Is anyone seriously remaking Pink or Lul’ John, Usher or Blink 182? Or am I wrong and missing some great examples?
