'Harry Potter' Star's X-Rated New Movie Earned an Epic 8-Minute Ovation at Cannes

In a career move that has set the Croisette abuzz, Harry Melling has emerged as the unexpected talk of the Cannes Film Festival. The 36-year-old actor is starring in the audacious new X-rated film Pillion, earning critical acclaim for its bold exploration of a BDSM relationship.

He plays Colin, an introverted parking attendant, opposite Alexander Skarsgård's Ray, a charismatic gay biker. The film, the debut feature from writer-director Harry Lighton, delves into their dynamic.

According to the official synopsis: “Colin, a timid man, meets Ray, a confident biker gang leader, who initiates him into a submissive relationship, challenging Colin's mundane existence and prompting personal growth through their unconventional dynamic.”

[quote] The project, featuring explicit sex scenes and "wild costumes," clearly captivated the discerning Cannes audience, who responded with rapturous applause that echoed through the prestigious venue for a full eight minutes.

[quote] This enthusiastic reception wasn't limited to the premiere audience. Critics are already heaping praise on the film's unflinching narrative and its performances.

[quote] IndieWire was particularly effusive, stating: “Harry Lighton's first feature outdoes Babygirl in its graphic and psychologically complex portrayal of an aloof leather-clad biker and his devoted submissive.”

[quote] The influential outlet didn't stop there, singling out Melling for what it described as a career-defining turn. IndieWire called Melling’s portrayal of Colin—a parking lot attendant by day and a barbershop quartet singer by night who finds an unconventional path to romance—a “truly special and wonderful breakout performance.”

[quote] The Cannes Film Festival interviewed Lighton about his experience with Melling on the set of the film. “As anyone who’s worked with Harry Melling knows, he’s an incredibly warm and generous actor,” said Lighton. “He really threw himself into the role of Colin – practising Barbershop, learning wrestling moves, shaving his head. He fizzes with this very unusual brand of charisma that’s totally magnetic but not remotely alpha.”

This movie actually sounds pretty good.

Alexander Skarsgard as a gay biker?

I'm in!

Harry Melling isn't the most attractive guy, but I could see them in this sort of unconventional relationship.

Dudley lost a lot of weight.

I would never in a million years imagine him in a movie with Alexander Skarsgard.

"Parade" gives it an X-rating, but that just "Parade" magazine sensationalizing the movie for its few remaining oldster readers.

I thought we already had a bold exploration of BDSM sex in all those Shades Of Gray trash.

Europeans are trash!

All they can do is perversion and misery.

Pessimistic, twisted people.

I think we need to see a lot more of Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis.

Harry Melling was great with Liam Neeson in what I thought was the funniest part of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

I heard that Justin Bieber turned down the role.
