Is Dynasty worth watching?

Skip season 1, watch until the Moldavian massacre, then fast-forward to season 9. Saves a lot of time.

Season 1 is actually the best--Blake, Fallon, Steven and the Blaisdells are far more interesting than they were afterwards, and the show seemed to take place in a somewhat recognizable universe.

Then when Alexis entered it became famous must-see TV, but it seemed ridiculous. It seemed to take place in some sort of only barely recognizable parallel universe. Blake became dull (and perpetually seated, for some reason), Fallon became much less bratty and much less interesting, and Steven couldn't make up his mind whether he was gay or interested in women--not because it was in keeping with the character, but apparently because of the creative battles between the network and the Shapiros. Alexis was campy and so often deeply amusing, but she was such a crazy caricature you just couldn't take her character seriously. And then they kept introducing new forgotten children for Blake and Alexis: Adam was kind of interesting because Gordon Thomson was sort of interesting as an actor, but Amanda was created just to capitalize on the Princess Diana craze of the time (she was even played initially by Diana's untalented lookalike distant cousin) and was completely forgettable.

Season 1 is the best. It's just that it bears no resemblance to what follows. Sort of like the Bobby's dead season on Dallas.

Yeah. Maybe the first three years. After that, the writing becomes increasingly bad. But yes, I'd say for SURE you'll have a great time for the first two seasons worth of shows.
