It’s official Wes Moore is running in 28

Will be one epic primary battle between he and Gavin Newsom.

by Anonymousreply 140September 8, 2025 4:17 PM

Good luck! He’s run Maryland into the ground.

by Anonymousreply 1May 19, 2025 1:54 PM

I'm sorry, where does it say anything about running or officially running?

by Anonymousreply 2May 19, 2025 1:56 PM

No one likes Newsom. Not liberals, not conservatives.

by Anonymousreply 3May 19, 2025 1:58 PM

OP is a racist troll.

by Anonymousreply 4May 19, 2025 1:59 PM

Object pronouns can be your friend.

by Anonymousreply 5May 19, 2025 2:14 PM

I think what we are seeing here are trolls getting an early pay check dismantling a promising candidate before he can become a risk of winning. It's from an old playbook but still works well.

by Anonymousreply 6May 19, 2025 2:35 PM

He is as good a candidate as anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 7May 19, 2025 2:48 PM

His ass is absolutely spectacular.

Unimpeachable, even.

by Anonymousreply 8May 19, 2025 2:53 PM

R6 I am not a troll and would love for him to become our next president.

by Anonymousreply 9May 19, 2025 3:12 PM

Will their debate be shirtless? If so I'll watch.

by Anonymousreply 10May 19, 2025 3:47 PM

I am a native of Maryland. We don't give the country presidents because they are all too libel, and all too arrogant. Example one: Martin O'Malley. Why couldn't he get further? Because he couldn't sell that 20 watt Kennedy charm, which in Maryland had made him a star. He wasn't very smart or interesting. As for Wes Moore what a pompous bore. He never speaks in details, just platitudes. He is another handsome man but the Democratic party will never get an another women or black man to be president of this country - maybe for a generation. Trump is a sign that Americans don't care for each other, and would rather own people than help them- including themselves.

by Anonymousreply 11May 19, 2025 3:52 PM

R11 Martin O Malley would have been a natural front runner for presidential material but someone named Barack Obama hit the scene. And since that era because O Malley actually cares about people first, Malley realizes his time has passed.

by Anonymousreply 12May 19, 2025 4:16 PM

Martin O'Malley is the forgotten man from the '16 primary. For all the talk that Bernie could've beaten Trump, O'Malley was the likeliest winner among the combatants.

by Anonymousreply 13May 19, 2025 9:53 PM

Martin O’Malley had a speech impediment, that’s why no one wanted him.

by Anonymousreply 14May 19, 2025 10:11 PM

R14 😂 Does he really? God knows the piece of garbage in office would have given no fucks. Not nay fuck. 2016 would have been even more entertaining.

by Anonymousreply 15May 19, 2025 10:50 PM

I'm a Californian and I think Newsom is doing as good a job of running the state as anyone could. And I don't think he should run for president. He (unfairly IMO) represents everything the rest of the country thinks is wrong about California.

by Anonymousreply 16May 20, 2025 12:01 AM

R16 These Magas wanna pop shit about California when it’s GPD is that of an independent nation. Meanwhile the average household income of many of those red southern states would make countries in the West Indes blush. Get your literacy rates up, your graduation rates, your median household income, then pop shit about California.

by Anonymousreply 17May 20, 2025 12:05 AM

GDP*

by Anonymousreply 18May 20, 2025 12:05 AM

R14

He was my mayor and worked out my gym so I’ve heard him speak close up - I detected no other impediment than the general odd Maryland accent.

by Anonymousreply 19May 20, 2025 12:23 AM

Sorry but these little known pols that the press keep mentioning are running for the second spot. The big dogs (Gavin, JB, Pete, Rahm, etc) will not announce until they have assurance from the deep-pocketed donors that they'll get financial support for their presidential run. (Except JB, who can self-finance his run.)

by Anonymousreply 20May 20, 2025 1:17 AM

I still think Andy Beshear and Josh Shapiro are the two most likely nominees, but we're years away from discovering who it will be.

Newsom doesn't have much of a chance--he's done so much to piss off the Dems in recent months, and conservatives will never warm to him. And California is pretty much a mess right now.

by Anonymousreply 21May 20, 2025 1:22 AM

[quote] Sorry but these little known pols that the press keep mentioning are running for the second spot.

Wrong.

[quote] we're years away from discovering who it will be.

Right.

[quote]Will be one epic primary battle between he and Gavin Newsom.

Oh, DEAR!

It's "between HIM and Gavin Newsom", him being the object of the preposition.

by Anonymousreply 23May 20, 2025 1:33 AM

if he admits to presenting hole while in college, then I am in!

by Anonymousreply 24May 20, 2025 1:46 AM

R21 Both he and Moore are doing shit to appeal to the general public hence the reason I made this thread even though Moore’s gesture toward reparations has nothing to do with his announcement.

by Anonymousreply 25May 20, 2025 1:53 AM

R19 = Martin O’Malley

by Anonymousreply 26May 20, 2025 1:54 PM

[quote] hence the reason I made this thread

Since you brought it up, why exactly DID you make this thread?

by Anonymousreply 27May 20, 2025 2:19 PM

Martin ' O Malley is no one's presidential pick. In Maryland, when he served on the Baltimore City council, he was known as the last minute liberal. If enough people were following a cause and it was popular he would join in. That included gay marriage. When he was mayor he could have cared less about the city, he raised taxes, and acted as though he wanted to be governor. When he got that position he spent too money, and raised taxes, especially toll taxes. When the budget was in trouble he cut off state workers' holidays, and reduced their income to balance the budget. He violated their contract. He is a liar, has a habit of adulterous behavior, shallow, and an opportunist. People like him because he is attractive, and played Irish fight songs with his band. But he doesn't have a complete and true idea in his brain on how to solve any of the problems facing this country. And if it would serve his ego, and desire he would be a Republican tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 28May 20, 2025 4:23 PM

All that may be true, R28, but IF he could've won in '16, that's all that matters ... unless you're a purist.

by Anonymousreply 29May 20, 2025 4:33 PM

Gavin Newsom's wife demanding to be called the "First partner" than "First lady" will scare people from voting for him. LOL.

by Anonymousreply 30May 20, 2025 4:37 PM

r2 Nothing OP posted points to him voting. I guess what OP is saying, the Maryland governor avoiding the reparations issue (he scraped some study for reparations in MD according to the OP's link) is a way to appease non-black voters.

by Anonymousreply 31May 20, 2025 4:39 PM

I would like Wes to be inside me quite deeply

by Anonymousreply 32May 20, 2025 5:06 PM

Please. It's even too early for early peaking.

by Anonymousreply 33May 20, 2025 5:37 PM

But not too early to hurt potential winners. Not saying that he is or should be the Democratic runner. But for potential competitors and trolls it is never too early to hurt someone's reputation who could become a true risk later. Obviously people are free to raise concerns about potential candidates. But I am always wary about posters here who just sling mud without substance - just to set a general tone toward a candidate. And this board is worse than even the new Facebook policy when it comes to blocking trolls, paid or unpaid.

by Anonymousreply 34May 20, 2025 5:46 PM

He fucked himself not supporting reparations. He's not FBA

by Anonymousreply 35May 20, 2025 5:48 PM

[quote] He fucked himself not supporting reparations.

That is the statement of a "boutique" voter who thinks their vote is the one that counts.

by Anonymousreply 36May 20, 2025 6:07 PM

[quote]Please. It's even too early for early peaking.

Exactly. Gotta get to the 2026 midterms first. We don't know what antics the cult and cultists will pull beforehand.

And thank you, R8. I knew he was handsome, but DAMN! Looking hot as hell there.

by Anonymousreply 37May 20, 2025 6:21 PM

[quote]He fucked himself not supporting reparations.

Actually, he made himself more popular amongst the voting public.

by Anonymousreply 38May 20, 2025 6:30 PM

r35 Yeah, I know social media will be abuzz if he runs as many black Americans are gonna point out he doesn't support reparations and isn't black American (parents both Caribbean).

by Anonymousreply 39May 20, 2025 6:53 PM

R39 ummm, like Obama's father from Kenya and Kamala's father from Jamaica. No black American supported Obama. Right.

by Anonymousreply 40May 20, 2025 10:41 PM

r40 Social media was in its infancy. There is a growing discontent that some foreign blacks are appropriating black Americans and overtaking black Americans. And a lot of it is tied to the discussion about reparations.

by Anonymousreply 41May 21, 2025 1:53 AM

R41, exactly, FUCK THAT CARIBBEAN TETHER!

by Anonymousreply 42May 21, 2025 2:54 AM

ADOS and FBA were not widely talked about in 2008. Black folks are hip to Obama and his LGBT agenda as well as Hindustani Kamala with the coolie Jamaican and Hindustan ancestry. It's a whole different ball game right now.

by Anonymousreply 43May 21, 2025 2:58 AM

JB Pritzker. Could self finance, leaving loads of money for down ballot races. Has a decent track record, especially on LGTBQinc stuff Comes from a reputable hotel chain. Hates Trump. Actual Ukrainian by descent. Sometimes answers come gift wrapped. This might be one..

by Anonymousreply 44May 21, 2025 4:22 AM

Gavin done lost his mind back pedaling in CA.

by Anonymousreply 45May 21, 2025 5:59 AM

Andrew Cuomo will weather all the shit the Reps are throwing at him and win the NYC mayor's spot. He will then toughen up the city and get it back together in a Bloomberg way and then run for POTUS. I hope it goes that way. Best the Dems have, he can defend his weak spots and punch up or down when necessary.

by Anonymousreply 46May 21, 2025 10:52 AM

[quote] Sorry but these little known pols that the press keep mentioning are running for the second spot.

You’re right. No one in history has gone from….say, a seat in a midwestern state senate to being elected president in a landslide in only four years.

by Anonymousreply 47May 21, 2025 11:02 AM

Experiencing the LBJ & Nixon landslides, in ‘64 & ‘72, respectively, my understanding was that getting 60%+ in an election - winning by a margin of at least 20 points - constituted a “landslide,” not merely winning by 7.

by Anonymousreply 48May 21, 2025 11:10 AM

Was it Newsom that lied for decades about having a Bronze star that he knew was never awarded? Even being introduced as a speaker with a Bronze that he knew had never been awarded.

No not Newsom. A different Dem, Not Kelly he earned his many awards for valor in combat. Blanking on the name right now but I am sure it will come to me

Now back to talking about Wes.

Considering how much more polarized, and considering that 64 and 72 were dominated by foreign, and not domestic policy, then yes, 2008 was a landslide. Especially when you look at the Electoral College. That’s a 17% victory.

by Anonymousreply 52May 21, 2025 12:26 PM

I hate to say it, but I think the only way we Democrats have a chance in 2028 is to put up the whitest white man they can find. That ain't Wes Moore.

by Anonymousreply 53May 21, 2025 12:31 PM

This doom & gloom this far out from ‘28 is unwarranted. Even Republicans believe there is no one on the scene who can build a coalition like Trump.

by Anonymousreply 54May 21, 2025 3:22 PM

Gavin Newsom’s 1st Partner is not the only Partner he has these days…

by Anonymousreply 55May 22, 2025 7:47 AM

“ it’s going to change”

Yes the Democratic Party will soon be having a slam bang civil war. The fight over the past and who is responsible for it and all that losing, and the future. Progressive vs moderates. Older vs younger. POC vs white. Blame needs to be given and a new king or queen found.

Yes it’s going to get worse. The better question will be as to when it will get better? The GOP needs a platform the democrats need a coalition, The democratic losers need to understand the difference between a defeat and a setback..

by Anonymousreply 56May 22, 2025 9:53 AM

The future for a weak looking and acting defeated party is not a man who lied for decades about having a Bronze star he had not been awarded.

Progressives may not give a shit but the country will . Veteran s certainly will.

by Anonymousreply 57May 22, 2025 9:58 AM

One thing that needs to change is holding Democrats to a standard that no one else is expected to meet. Hillary Clinton lost the nomination to Obama because of her begrudging support for the Iraq War, while no Republican career was derailed because of the actual fiasco. John Kerry is harangued for his actual service and Dan Rather is fired for report on Bush’s lack thereof, while Bush faces zero consequences Al Franken was booted out of the Senate for pretending to cop a feel of a woman’s breast, while Trump is nominated for Presidenf three times and wins twice,

Wes Moore is told to claim the Bronze Star by his superior officer. Paperwork delays it, and he ultimate receives it but didn’t call attention to the fact or correct others.

See the pattern? Let’s stop this bullshit now.

by Anonymousreply 58May 22, 2025 10:06 AM

There was no simple delay as far as Wes and the lie he told about receiving a bronze star. He had not been put in for a bronze star when he claimed he had one And he knew he had never been awarded one. So he lied for years but puts the blame on someone else senior to him, who had also not put him in for a bronze either.

For decades he never once corrected anyone that introduced him as a Bronxe Star awardee that he knew he did not have. Stolen Valor that is called,

Explaining one’s Lying about combat awards is not something nyone wants to do when running for president. Years later Wes was put in for a Bronxe star ( no V) and it was awarded. Decades after he lied about having one.

Progressives won’t care Progressives are 11% of the country.

Wes will doom the democrats to a loss. Kelly has actual multiple combat awards for actions in combat.

by Anonymousreply 59May 22, 2025 10:22 AM

Really? We are discussing a gold star now?

by Anonymousreply 60May 22, 2025 11:41 AM

Has The View discussed this yet in Hot Topics ? I'd love to hear Sunny's take on her friend Wes' political view on reparations. Will she, once again, stand up and give him a bear hug when he visits the show again ?

by Anonymousreply 61May 22, 2025 12:06 PM

Sunny Hostin should be preparing her husband for trial for stealing millions of dollars from the federal government's Medicaid program. She has said many times on The View that when the Feds bring a case, they win 98% of the time. Of course, dear Manny is innocent until proven guilty, the Feds brought this suit when Biden was POTUS. The Govt. will prove their case with documents.

She makes millions and he is stealing from the taxpayers, I don't care what her opinions are any longer.

by Anonymousreply 62May 22, 2025 1:45 PM

Andrew Cuomo will be the next non republican president.

by Anonymousreply 63May 22, 2025 2:57 PM

Andrew Cuomo is intelligent and tough and won't bend to the snowflakes in the party

by Anonymousreply 64May 22, 2025 4:35 PM

It’s official. I’m about to become the WesBot. This man needs to be president. The next 4 years I will talk about him constantly on DL so all the influencer gays can work their magic.

by Anonymousreply 65May 22, 2025 10:54 PM

Also both his parents are not Caribbean. His dad was black American. He is actually more of a foundational black than Kamala and Obama. Born in Nw DC. Raised in the South Bronx. Not that this should matter but I’m just saying. He grew up like a regular black boy; he went to boarding high school but that doesn’t make you any Le’s black.

by Anonymousreply 66May 22, 2025 10:58 PM

The ONLY reason high achieving Wes Moore went into politics was to run for president.

by Anonymousreply 67May 22, 2025 11:04 PM

R67 Are you psychic? His therapist? What do you know.

by Anonymousreply 68May 22, 2025 11:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 70May 22, 2025 11:08 PM

[QUOTE] Andrew Cuomo will be the next non republican president.

[QUOTE] Andrew Cuomo is intelligent and tough and won't bend to the snowflakes in the party

Andrew Cuomo doesn’t have a wife. I don’t even think he has a girlfriend right now. The man is incapable of having a healthy, stable relationship, which is why he’s always lonely and sexually harassing the women who work for him. The last thing the Democrats need is a pervert in the White House like Cuomo or Gavin Newsom chasing young interns with his tongue out. We need men like Wes Moore who have the self discipline to keep their dicks in their pants cause they’re actually fucking their wives.

by Anonymousreply 71May 22, 2025 11:20 PM

R68, this is a gossip forum, you fucking idiot

by Anonymousreply 72May 22, 2025 11:52 PM

Andrew Cuomo would get more votes than Wes Moore, so a purity test for wokeness or any attempt to cancel Cuomo would be a losing proposition for the party. The goal is to win elections.

by Anonymousreply 73May 23, 2025 12:21 AM

Lemme find out Magas trolls are already infiltrating DL. Boys and girls BYE. Andrew Cuomo will never see an executive position in US government EVER again. This cunt wouldn’t win a governor race let alone the presidency. 😂 Great laugh though.

by Anonymousreply 74May 23, 2025 12:26 AM

I just shake my head at the continuing certitude about who can & cannot get elected. After Trump not once but twice got elected.

by Anonymousreply 75May 23, 2025 12:33 AM

I like Wes Moore but feel only a white-straight-nonJewish ( sorry JB ) male has a chance of winning in 2028. Shirt-Free debate is probably a good idea.

by Anonymousreply 76May 23, 2025 2:04 AM

R76 why yall acting brand new. Straight white men have been losing to republicans for the presidency 3 decades strong. Bill Clinton stopped the rift and he only did so the first time with Ross Perot’s help. Had Perot not run, George Bush senior would have been re-elected. Biden won cause Covid.

by Anonymousreply 77May 23, 2025 2:55 AM

I’ve said this many times before. This isn’t about having to run a straight white man. It’s about Trump brilliantly solving the GOP’s demographic problem. Because highly educated liberals will not listen. Why the fuck all these young black and Mexican men voted for Trump. Are they just going to easily vote for a super educated white man that they didn’t grow up hearing in every rap song from Nelly to Mac Miller.

by Anonymousreply 78May 23, 2025 2:58 AM

Blacks and Hispanics are proportionally higher amongst the under 40 crowd when it comes to the electorate. You expected a bunch of black and Latinos to believe this man was ok. The Democrats expected them to accept this shit. Come on now. Yall know our communities. Aint a bunch of black and Latino men gonna fake the funk like that. Watch this shit.

by Anonymousreply 79May 23, 2025 3:04 AM

Well, he certainly has the greatest built-in campaign slogan of all time: Wes is Moore!

I wonder if he's ever used it. Anyone?

by Anonymousreply 81May 24, 2025 12:35 AM

Wes is Moore Man will drive the mushroom heads in MAGA bonkers

by Anonymousreply 82May 24, 2025 1:17 AM

Wes Moore is a man who lied for decades and got caught at it

by Anonymousreply 83May 24, 2025 8:26 AM

" Less Wes."

by Anonymousreply 84May 24, 2025 2:07 PM

But, does he have " Wes -on-ality"?

by Anonymousreply 85May 24, 2025 2:08 PM

What did he lie about, R83?

by Anonymousreply 86May 24, 2025 2:57 PM

R86 Nothing major.

by Anonymousreply 87May 24, 2025 3:08 PM

I suspect in 2028 we'll be running against 2024. Blacks, women, olds need not apply.

Obviously somebody amazing can emerge out of the blue in 2027 or 2028, but I don't think Wes Moore is that amazing figure.

by Anonymousreply 88May 24, 2025 3:34 PM

R86 he claimed on an application that he had received a Bronze star, not for valor but for being an officer in a combat zone, kind of an end of tour thank you. He was introduced for years as a Bronze star awardee. Claiming he had a bronze star certainly helped his politico career.

He did not have one and none had been suggested when he filled out the application, he did not have one when he was introduced all those years, he knew and never corrected the record.

He blames a friend for bad advice and he claims he would have corrected the record but realized his opponents would hammer the shit out of him.

Years later he did receive a bronze star . It’s a blatant case of stolen honor. And I voted for him but Maryland is as blue it gets . The gop will crucify him as they should.

Kelly has real combat awards several of them..

by Anonymousreply 89May 24, 2025 3:36 PM

R89 Bahahahahaha. Thats all you got. Because he actually has a bronze star now. He made a bad mistake in his early 20s, not the worst thing in the world.

by Anonymousreply 90May 24, 2025 3:38 PM

The GOP will crucify ANY dem and if they have nothing, they will make it up. For 8 years they called Barack Obama the anti-Christ then voted for a man who on tape, on the track(Whitney Houston voice) stated “I just grab women by their pussy. I just take it”. Meanwhile calling his wife a biologically born male for 8 years. I think Dems can mitigate a white lie and resume exaggeration.

Repubs will demonize Dems regardless. We just can’t have a bunch of woke baggage and a perception that we put immigrants and criminals, trans or otherwise, above the American people.

by Anonymousreply 91May 24, 2025 3:43 PM

R90;Stolen honor. Lying about your military awards or service. It is what it is. The progressives will not care . But he will spend the whole election trying to explain why for many years he took credit for a combat related award he knew he had never been put in for and never received.

JHC I knew guys killed in combat that never got a fucking bronze star. Wes will never be president. He lied his chances away.

by Anonymousreply 92May 24, 2025 3:45 PM

R92 is a conservative fake concern troll. Who did you vote for last November and don’t lie cause I’ll know.

by Anonymousreply 93May 24, 2025 3:46 PM

by Anonymousreply 94May 24, 2025 3:50 PM

R93 I realize it’s the weekend but lay off the pipe asshole. I did vote for Wes when he ran for governor. Held my nose and voted for him.

Kelly did not lie he got real awards in real combat. Of course the left won’t want him.

by Anonymousreply 95May 24, 2025 3:52 PM

I just looked into it R92 and it’s not a big deal. He was supposed to get the medal but the paperwork wasn’t complete. Then the Army went and gave it to him 18 years later. How could anyone possibly make a controversy out of this? The man earned that Bronze Star.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 96May 24, 2025 3:57 PM

One has always lost the argument when they have to resort to personal insults.

by Anonymousreply 97May 24, 2025 4:14 PM

The Democrats would go from nominating a senile acting man who could no longer recognize old friends, then a woman who had never won a primary and had called for federal prisoners to get trans treatment while in prison , to possibly a man who knew for years he had not received a Bronxe star but did not correct the record or others because he wanted to get on with his life.

The best the Democratic Party can do? Maybe so.

by Anonymousreply 98May 24, 2025 4:18 PM

Winning arguments and winning elections are two very different things. Part of our problem is too often we think winning arguments actually wins votes. It usually just doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 99May 24, 2025 4:20 PM

R99 👏

by Anonymousreply 100May 24, 2025 4:32 PM

Trump was unpopular. He just was more popular than skeletor and the black Ms. Frizzle.

I said what I said.

by Anonymousreply 101May 24, 2025 4:33 PM

Historically, the names thrown about this early rarely make it very far. Also, I believe the dynamics would be affected by how Vance-the-chameleon handles his partial term (no way incumbent stays in much longer).

by Anonymousreply 102May 24, 2025 4:40 PM

Fuck Wes Moore's TETHER BITCH ASS, Black America supports reparations. Caribbeans can go sit down.

by Anonymousreply 103May 24, 2025 9:53 PM

'Black' America has mixed feelings about this. The rest of the electorate solidly against the idea.

[quote]Black America supports reparations.

The other 86% of the population doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 106May 24, 2025 10:51 PM

Gavin Newsom absolutely torpedoed himself. The right will never embrace him, the “moderate voter” that hates Trump but just can’t embrace the radical marxism of Kamala Harris (a capitalist police officer) only exists in James Carville’s senile dreams, and he demolished his already tense and practical support from the base. By the time 2028 rolls around many more voting boomer tumors who still love third way horseshit will be dead.

by Anonymousreply 107May 24, 2025 11:09 PM

I dont think people (at least Democrats) will care about the Bronze star thing, but the reparations veto will likely cost him way too many votes from African Americans.

And as we now know, in the current voting landscape, Democrats cannot win the Presidency without overwhelming support from the black community. Democrats have lost too many other demographics. Its unfortunate because he seems like an otherwise decent candidate.

[Quote]And as we now know, in the current voting landscape, Democrats cannot win the Presidency without overwhelming support from the black community. Democrats have lost too many other demographics.

I believe that was the 'logic' that forced the losing Harris into the position.

by Anonymousreply 110May 25, 2025 11:45 AM

I need some reparations for the mean 😭 black kids when I was in Elementary school.

by Anonymousreply 111May 25, 2025 12:32 PM

[quote]the radical marxism of Kamala Harris

Truth, facts, reality no longer exist, apparently. Everything shaped to fit our social media trolling.

by Anonymousreply 112May 25, 2025 5:19 PM

R110 No it was the logic that turned out to be true. She lost Georgia and North Carolina partially because 25% of black people in those states voted Trump.

You cunts constantly disparage black women. If black women voted for Democrats anything less than 87%, you’d be fuck for all your national politics.

by Anonymousreply 113May 25, 2025 5:53 PM

That’s why I don’t get this logic that the next candidate HAS TO BE WHITE. White democrat men have lost consecutive elections to republicans. This country is center right. Clinton would not have won without Ross Perot. I prefer a straight while male candidate but my heart tells me that non college educated white people are not going to be lured by a white male. However a minority candidate, specifically male, would lure back all the black and Hispanic men we lost.

[quote]However a minority candidate, specifically male, would lure back all the black and Hispanic men we lost.

Not unless the Democratic emphases change. Swing back to the middle, working class values and eschew anything radical. Go back to the roots of the party.

by Anonymousreply 115May 25, 2025 6:53 PM

R115 Well, go back to the roots of the party under FDR... huge transformative social programs that benefit the middle and working classes... that lift up the health and education and safety of the nation. Stuff that would be attacked as "radical" (socialist, communist, woke) by the same ones who have used discomfort with identity politics to achieve power.

It is a power struggle.. though not in the realms you may imagine.

by Anonymousreply 116May 25, 2025 7:09 PM

Dems have to re-evaluate or take ownership of the following: reparations, trans rights, mass migration at the border, and wanting to reform the criminal justice system. Americans who vote are not as interested in those things as they are economic issues which have to be the number one priority with a clear/concise message showing how this will happen.

by Anonymousreply 117May 25, 2025 7:16 PM

Sad when a highly intelligent person becomes so cynical about the truth they choose to condescend and mock instead of engaging said truth. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 118May 25, 2025 7:20 PM

[quote] Clinton would not have won without Ross Perot.

Fake news.

[quote] Ross Perot's presence on the 1992 presidential ballot did not change the outcome of the election, according to an analysis of the second choices of Perot supporters.

[quote] The analysis, based on exit polls conducted by Voter Research & Surveys (VRS) for the major news organizations, indicated that in Perot's absence, only Ohio would have have shifted from the Clinton column to the Bush column. This would still have left Clinton with a healthy 349-to-189 majority in the electoral college.

[quote] And even in Ohio, the hypothetical Bush "margin" without Perot in the race was so small that given the normal margin of error in polls, the state still might have stuck with Clinton absent the Texas billionaire.

by Anonymousreply 119May 25, 2025 7:49 PM

R117 Seems this comes up all the time in these discussions.

Policy advocacy: Dems are capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time. False forced choices make Dems skittish and weak-appearing.

Strong messaging example: marriage equality has positive benefits, medicare for all would make the middle and working class safer and more healthy, taxing the rich at higher rates would help the reduce deficit and assure a better future for our kids.

Duh.

by Anonymousreply 120May 25, 2025 7:53 PM

My pussy is so fucking wet from the adoration.

by Anonymousreply 121May 25, 2025 8:05 PM

Reparations is a non-starter. Any candidate supporting that should expect to lose in a landslide.

by Anonymousreply 122May 25, 2025 9:00 PM

[quote]However a minority candidate, specifically male, would lure back all the black and Hispanic men we lost.

Democrats turning anti-men and anti-masculinity scared off many men.

The Democratic Party is now seen as the chick party -- akin to a chick car, which straight men don't want to be seen driving, either.

It's seen as the Black Chick and Tranny party.

r122 Moore would have been in a better position had he just let that study receive funding; it likely wouldn't have made a headline.

Especially in a state like Maryland which has a huge African American population; it also has a rich abolitionist history. If asked about it during a campaign, he could've just chalked it up to those factors, because nothing like that is ever happening at a federal level anyway. I think even the most hardcore supporters of reparations know it's a state issue.

As a black man, it was a bad decision for him. He will/would inevitably lose those needed outlier black voters.

by Anonymousreply 125May 25, 2025 11:22 PM

R124: a simplification but yeah.

TV ads show black Americans as consistently doing well as consumers. This is what white viewers see all the time. I hope our slave-descendent friends can see why white Americans don't see racism as a "problem".

by Anonymousreply 126May 25, 2025 11:42 PM

We need a full on Fuck the Rich campaign. They have gorged and gorged and gorged and it's time for them to disgorge.

Don't get distracted by petty fuckery about social issues. Always bring it back to fucking the rich and their stupid endless narcissistic bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 127May 26, 2025 1:15 AM

[quote] Don't get distracted by petty fuckery about social issues.

Except it seems those are the issues that attract the low proclivity voter that the demagogic Trump solely seems to attract. A good thing he'll (likely) never be on the ballot again.

by Anonymousreply 128May 26, 2025 1:30 AM

[quote] A good thing he'll (likely) never be on the ballot again.

It really doesn't matter if he is or is not president. He will still control all policy of Republicans until he dies.

by Anonymousreply 129May 26, 2025 2:20 AM

A good thing for Democrats, R129, since his crazy acolytes don’t succeed other than in the reddest states/districts.

by Anonymousreply 130May 26, 2025 8:26 AM

R127 and what would that campaign look like?

by Anonymousreply 131May 26, 2025 9:10 PM

He would be a good candidate.

It’s not going to be Newsom. He tanked himself with his dumb podcast.

by Anonymousreply 132May 26, 2025 9:15 PM

R132

Gavin Newsom is a destroyer —his career & 2 marriages.

He is soo desperate to be liked & loved….he will run because he is a narcissist, but he won’t make it out of a primary.

by Anonymousreply 133May 26, 2025 10:53 PM

Or, R133, the force of his personality could blow all the others out of the water. We just don't know. And won't until the rubber meets the road.

by Anonymousreply 134May 26, 2025 10:59 PM

R94

I did not but I did watchers him get irritated with a gym staffer who kept pestering him about bike lanes.

by Anonymousreply 135May 28, 2025 4:02 AM

For what (little) it means this far away, he today took himself out of the '28 race.

Good for him. That bronze star stuff would have eaten him alive.

by Anonymousreply 137September 7, 2025 8:23 PM

As my post suggested, I wouldn't bet the farm that he's not running.

by Anonymousreply 138September 7, 2025 8:27 PM

Reparations, defund police, and open borders should be filed away under LOSER and middle class tax cuts, crime and punishment, and ending tariffs as policy platforms. Getting a red or purple Dem who can win in the middle of the nation will help. Andy Beshear, boring but electable.

by Anonymousreply 139September 8, 2025 4:13 PM

I’d take James Talarico, especially if he manages to win a Texas Senate seat, over Beshear.
