George Clooney’s Good Night, and Good Luck to Be Telecast Live on CNN
Good Night, and Good Luck starring George Clooney has been creating new box office records on Broadway thanks to its high ticket prices. For those who can't afford the $300 average ticket price, don’t worry—the hit play has announced that it will broadcast its entire June 7 performance live on CNN. The broadcast will take place the night before the 2025 Tony Awards, and the night before the play closes on Broadway.
The live telecast will take place June 7 at 7 PM ET across CNN properties, including a livestream on CNN.com.

The broadcast will also include special pre-show coverage outside of the theatre. Then after the performance, CNN will air a Good Night, and Good Luck special, which will also discuss the fraught state of global journalism.
Said star and co-writer Clooney in a statement: "I can’t tell you how exciting it is to do something that’s never been done. CNN is the perfect place to bring this story of courage to so many more people than we could have ever hoped. Live TV. No net. Buckle up everyone.”

Why is the show closing if it's breaking box office records?

R3. Yes, the show is setting box office records. Top ticket prices are quite high. However, the show is only scheduled for a limited run of approximately two to three months. Most likely, Clooney wanted to appear on Broadway, but did not want to commit to an extended run. Eight shows a week can be grueling, plus he may have other commitments.

Heroic journalists, they only exist in adaptations of historical reenactments.

R2 is right - George is serving old Frankenstein realness (sans bolts). Edward R. Murrow looks like a teenager compared to him.

Weren't there stories about how his wife and kids had other plans and didn't see him on his Broadway opening night?
Guess if their schedules allow this time, they can catch this telecast.

Do you think he's doing this to get the $ to make a film remake - starring himself and also as director and producer?
It was already a film 20 years ago.
It is about the time we live in now though - a REAL slap to the GOP and Trump. Things have changed for the worse - probably should get another chance.

The closing monologue of #goodnightandgoodluck, on the provocative value of advocacy journalism and speaking truth to power. Thought provoking. #GeorgeClooney.
