Man, what a shitty weekend
It's been pouring for days. One day it's hot, muggy and pouring. The next it's cold, muggy and pouring. I have shit to do outside dammit.
My old, big ass side by side refrigerator died yesterday morning. I of course freaked out that my landlord would be mad at me but he just told me to pick out whatever one I want. That's awesome until I realized it's 2025 and no one has anything actually in stock.
My landlord, bless him, brought down his garage refrigerator and we ran an electric cord outside to it (under the covered part of the porch of course) so we're not dragging refrigerators in and out multiple times. We were unloading it in the rain. I know it's a landlords responsibility but also, he's a good guy.
I am probably not going to have a fridge until at least next week because I want a white or stainless side by side with the ice maker in the door rather than in the freezer. And I want it delivered because I don't want to help drag the 2 old ones onto a truck nd the new one in.
The upper back deck and the roof is being replaced and the deck is currently in the back yard so no mowing is happening. I can't plant the gazillion flowering shrubs and trees I ordered because of the damned rain. The back yard is a bit of a disaster.
For some reason the calzone I made had a soggy bottom.
I am binging ANTM and going to have a pint of ice cream and a big ass glass of whine to go with my whine.
Are you having a better weekend than me-I hope?

I was told last week that there's a very good chance I will be laid off in the coming weeks. So, there's that...

Jesus, that's awful r1. It puts my shitty whine in perspective. Are you preemptively looking elsewhere even if you are not laid off?

R2. Its alright, Rescue. We all have our own things and I'm grateful you feel comfortable enough to share your issues. Yes. I'm trying for a preemptive strike. First line of defense is updating resume and LinkedIn to make it more AI, search term friendly. It's the first time I've had to do that in 13 years!

In what industry do you work, and what is your approximate geographic location, R1? No particulars/specific names are necessary.

r3, I hope you go with the 'I am leaving either way' energy because having that hanging over your head is shitty and, can you really trust them after that going forward to not just do it?
Can you use this as an opportunity to consider if you are in the place (both literally /physically and professionally) you want to be i?

R7. You hit the nail on the head. In fact, my boss says he is trying to keep me "safe" for maybe another 90 to 120 days. So, I'm supposed to go through this quarterly?! No, it's time to look either way. And I have made a list...at 40, what else is there? What can I do that I'll truly love and enjoy? It's an opportunity...not a death sentence.

Sending good positive vibes out to R1 and hoping you not only find a job but a job that pays better and you love more than your current one.
