Who stays? Who goes?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 18, 2025 3:12 AM |
just shoot me
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 18, 2025 3:22 AM |
The Trump cold opening was weak.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 18, 2025 3:40 AM |
What the hell is this whore wearing? (I mean Scarlett, not Wang, in this instance.)
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 18, 2025 3:40 AM |
Scarlett can't sing so why do they have her singing? This monologue just highlights the fact most of the cast has zero talent and zero charisma. Is there going to be a season 51?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 18, 2025 3:42 AM |
Maybe they’re going to drop a giant chandelier on all of ‘em while they’re singing on stage there?! 😜
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 18, 2025 3:42 AM |
I’m not expecting much
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 18, 2025 3:44 AM |
Scarlett is a decent singer.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 18, 2025 3:45 AM |
It's adorable that Scarlett thinks she can carry off a sheer skirt while flashing her panties in the monologue.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 18, 2025 3:45 AM |
Hehehehe….not
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 18, 2025 3:49 AM |
When the commercials in between the sketches are more enjoyable than the show itself, that’s depressing.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 18, 2025 3:49 AM |
The best thing they can do is for Lorne Michaels to announce his retirement and for the network to wipe the cast and writing staff clean over the summer.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 18, 2025 3:49 AM |
Emil Wakim is so cute.
If he gets cut, I'll comfort him.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 18, 2025 3:51 AM |
Agree that assembling the whole cast is no longer a good idea. They look really weak as an ensemble.
Scarlett is good at this. Sadly the material is pretty mediocre so far.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 18, 2025 3:51 AM |
I give props to Lorne for all he’s created and done with the show, but he’s sort of the TV producer version of his generation’s Washington politicians. No new ideas, just always stuck in the same idea cycles. Nothing about this show’s format ever changes, which I think it needs. But he just won’t go, and it holds back new creativity from being able to come in and jumpstart how they cast, write and do things.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 18, 2025 3:54 AM |
I liked the opening and its acknowledging the entire cast, including the "trio" whose names couldn't be remembered.
Three unlabeled brown boxes sitting on the curb outside 30 Rock.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 18, 2025 3:54 AM |
oh goodie. ANOTHER Jarassic Park movie. Let me guess. The dinosaurs get loose?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 18, 2025 3:56 AM |
Bad Bunny looks muy gordo.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 18, 2025 4:00 AM |
This isn’t funny.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 18, 2025 4:02 AM |
Marcello is great with the facial expressions, though. And really cute, too, IMO.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 18, 2025 4:04 AM |
Did anyone else notice James Austin Johnson leaning into a kiss with Andrew Dismukes after his line?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 18, 2025 4:05 AM |
Scarlett, like Ariana Grande, is better at sketch than many of the recent castmembers.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 18, 2025 4:05 AM |
Yes, R21.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 18, 2025 4:06 AM |
R22 Yes.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 18, 2025 4:07 AM |
Bowen Yang gay sketch. Hilarious.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 18, 2025 4:07 AM |
This sketch is Bowen telling on himself. It only “works” because Bowen is so one note at playing gay.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 18, 2025 4:08 AM |
Bad Bunny is so hot.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 18, 2025 4:14 AM |
Yes, R27, he is. I seriously need him to pound me into the floor.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 18, 2025 4:15 AM |
How many times is Nike going to run that commercial with Fem Jewy guy and his idiot wife?. What's her story? How desperate is she to marry that loser? Hubby looks like every guy at a gay piano bar. Now THATS a commercial that needs to be parodied.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 18, 2025 4:17 AM |

AGREE!!! I’ve been saying this for the last several seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 18, 2025 4:17 AM |
It’s “West Side Story” à la Bad Bunny.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 18, 2025 4:17 AM |
[quote]It’s “West Side Story” à la Bad Bunny.
It's a Super Mario Brother leading the cast of Hamilton in a cut reggaeton song from the show.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 18, 2025 4:19 AM |
Bad Bunny has gained 40-50 pounds since his last SNL appearance.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 18, 2025 4:20 AM |
Sang it, Colin! 🙏🏼 😉
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 18, 2025 4:30 AM |
The news 4 skit was good. Scarlett got the essence of the night time anchor adding puns to the serious stories.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 18, 2025 4:33 AM |
Scarlett is great. It’s everything else around her that’s lesser.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 18, 2025 4:35 AM |
My assessment of season fifty is that I’m tired of defending this show. It simply should be better than it is for all of the attention it receives.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 18, 2025 4:41 AM |
Scarlett really is one of the more consistently solid-performing hosts through all an episode’s sketches in a long while. Jane, meanwhile, always looks constipated in every skit in which she appears.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 18, 2025 4:42 AM |
Maybe what could help this show is to finally lose the last 30 minutes of its total 90 it inherited when taking over originally from Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show” NBC Saturday night lineup slot, and consolidate by producing less, but more solidly creative, content (?).
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 18, 2025 4:46 AM |
I think they had AI write this entire past season. 🤷♂️
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 18, 2025 5:01 AM |
And they cut off the close of the show’s 50th finale-episode to air an ad?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 18, 2025 5:04 AM |
Latino here. Are there actually Americans (Anglo/Caucasicans) who are truly invested in hearing Bad Bunny's "music"?
I'm asking since I think this is the 5th time he is musical guest on SNL?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 18, 2025 5:07 AM |
R42 I meant "Caucasians" sorry
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 18, 2025 5:10 AM |
Jane Wickline and Michael Longfellow are two of the most boring performers I have ever seen on this 50 year old show.
As someone said earlier, just fire everyone, including and especially Lorne Michaels, and start from scratch.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 18, 2025 5:23 AM |

And replace those 30 minutes with what? More infomercials, Joel Osteen, another advertorial program like First Look or George to the Rescue?
A good producer should be able to fill a 90-minute show — 44 minutes of comedy — three times a month, 18 episodes a year, with more than a dozen performers and more than a dozen writers.
Add stand-up comics and new-talent segments if you need to, and why not — there's a ton of fodder to choose from online. The show sucks because Lorne Michaels and NBC are lazy.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 18, 2025 5:38 AM |
Jesus. How many cigarettes has Scarlett smoked?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 18, 2025 10:46 AM |
I can let some things slide but I cannot let it go that, in the Victorian women’s sketch, they were all dressed head-to-toe in Regency fashions. That’s just lazy.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 18, 2025 10:52 AM |
You guys! SNL makes tons of money for the network. Good, bad or indifferent, it’s here to stay as long as Michaels is alive at least.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 18, 2025 1:21 PM |
The lesbian sex scene sketch was godawful.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 18, 2025 4:32 PM |
I’m a fan of SNL but not of Scarlet Joho. This one put me right to sleep.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 18, 2025 4:49 PM |
“ And replace those 30 minutes with what? More infomercials, Joel Osteen, another advertorial program like First Look or George to the Rescue?”
^ I hear what you’re saying, except that even though that’s the case that there’s the talent to re-innovate the show under someone else than Lorne, I just feel that at this point in the game nothing much would change even if Lorne left as regards NBC pushing to make the full 90 minutes more solidly good—in part, as you rightly point out IMO, the network’s (as well as Lorne’s longtime) laziness to change. That’s why I feel that consolidating the show just to 60 minutes would be a chance to block and present better-quality but shorter/stronger skits which would be more positively memorable and keep viewers coming back more eagerly.
And since I don’t care for anything that comes on NBC or its local station at that hour of early Sunday morning after “SNL,” I wouldn’t look for or miss whatever could replace a shortened show’s subsequently newly freed-up 30 minutes.
But, yeah, if they could sweep house and bring in a winning new production team on all levels with newly mixed up format lasting 90 minutes still, then more power to ‘em—and new great episodes and watching for us longtime fans to keep on looking forward to!
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 18, 2025 5:07 PM |
One of the worst shows this season.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 18, 2025 6:27 PM |
Most changes would undercut the “LIVE” aspect of the skits - the errors help differentiate this from a taped sketch.
It’s why I’m glad they sparingly add cartoon funhouse or Don’t Shoot whatever… video content.
I believe Keenan will be made Lorne’s successor.I was worried it would be Tracey Morgan.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 18, 2025 7:13 PM |
It had a few funny bits and Weekend Update was funny, especially the material Jost and Che sprang on each other.
So it was far from the worst show of the year. But what would DataLounge be without an absurd level of hyperbole?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 18, 2025 7:40 PM |
Keep Michael Longfellow. I just like looking at him.
Back in the day, I remember uninteresting people being called 'drips.' What I think of Jane in every sketch she is in. Waiting for her to do something.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 18, 2025 7:41 PM |
I feel like if he had been paired with someone other than Che, Colin and his theoretical partner could be one of the best duos in the show’s history. Che is weak, which is why it’s Colin who l more typically interacts (well) with the guest commentators.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 18, 2025 7:45 PM |
Look, let’s keep it real. They’re not changing shit. No worries. With the exception of the 50th anniversary special and a few skits on social media, I haven’t watched this show in several years and I DON’ T MISS IT!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 18, 2025 7:45 PM |
A highlight - maybe THE highlight - of the 50th season.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 18, 2025 7:46 PM |
R57, While I agree Jost is better with the guest "commentators," he wouldn't have been as interesting without Che.
That matchup countered the original criticisms of his preppy frat boy image vs previous hosts.
They've been doing it longer than any other pair in the history of the show.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 18, 2025 7:57 PM |
The show needs some adults in the room.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 18, 2025 8:06 PM |
Did they run out of cast members that they needed Bad Bunny to sub in?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | May 18, 2025 8:23 PM |
R62, everyone wants to be with the guy in some way - a charismatic and I am thankful.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | May 18, 2025 8:26 PM |
Jane Wickline doesn’t impress me. The other two featured players have a lot more promise.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | May 18, 2025 8:48 PM |
Marcello is hot as fuckin' shit. What a stud. I bet he's got a massive dick.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | May 18, 2025 8:50 PM |
Marcello wasn’t that funny in the press junket sketch but the audience laughed like he was a genius.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | May 18, 2025 8:57 PM |
R66 cause he's hot. Hot voice too.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 18, 2025 8:59 PM |
The problem with Jane Wickline is she’s too one-note. Everything I’ve seen from her is the same (and it’s boring). Last week’s baby shoes sketch was probably the best thing she’s done all season.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 18, 2025 11:25 PM |
The "Please Don't Destroy" First Class short film was hilarious...
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 18, 2025 11:39 PM |
Bad Bunny is funnier than most of the cast.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 19, 2025 12:46 AM |
[bold] James Austin Johnson leaning in to kiss Andrew Dismukes [/bold] after the skit is over. Are they hooking up?.... SNL cut away. Whats the deal? 5:09 mark....
by Anonymous | reply 71 | May 19, 2025 3:29 AM |
I've never understood why Scarlett is considered a great beauty. To me, she looks and sounds like Miley Cyrus... and that's not a compliment!
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 19, 2025 11:05 AM |
There was a REALLY unflattering shot of the back and side of Scarlett’s thighs during the monologue. It showed lumps and cellulite. We all have it, but why go out in your panties to do a monologue?
Between this and Ms. Brunson’s too-tight dress, I think someone needs to introduce these gals to some girdles!
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 19, 2025 11:26 AM |
Does the show really make a lot of money for NBC/Comcast?
The show had a bloated budget… it’s said that once Lorne is gone the budget will be trimmed significantly.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 19, 2025 1:39 PM |
Hating on SNL and trying to come up with yet another “witty” reason it should be canceled is an American pastime. It’s been that way for decades now and… SNL is still here.
You’d miss it if it was gone. It’s like a security blanket to me. Laughs are always up and down, but the ups are frequent enough.
Also LOVE that they moved it to 8:30 on the west coast.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 19, 2025 2:17 PM |
Yes, R74 it’s a cash cow, regardless of whether the ratings are up or down. It still attracts a highly desirable demographic to advertisers.
And whatever they spend on union crew salaries, expensive sets that are ultimately never used, and good wigs (which are expensive, baby) it’s still cheap compared to any other NBC series, especially given the audience that is still drawn to it.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 19, 2025 2:24 PM |
I like everyone on the current cast, with the possible exceptions of Jane and Ashley who are just too bland. Sara Sherman’s mullet works my nerves.
But the real problem is the writing. THE WRITING!
by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 19, 2025 2:30 PM |
R76 Plus, the constant rotation of the cast keeps salaries low. By definition, it won’t have one or two leads who become so huge that the budget runs amok.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | May 19, 2025 3:20 PM |
R77, I just pray Jo Anne Worley hobbles onto the set and punches Sara in the cunt. Jo Anne was annoying WAY before this snot failed to run down a leg.
