I Need Advice- A Package Was Wrongly Delivered To My House On The Box It Says Perishable

It's from a store that sells cheeses. The address is correct but the name is wrong. I cannot call the store because they do not open until Monday. I left the entire box in my garage. If it says perishable perhaps I should take out all of the contents and put them in my freezer ( I don't have much spare room in my refrigerator) Better to do that than have all of the contents spoil. What does the datalounge suggest?

Can you Google the recipient’s name to find the correct address? It’s likely the same street with the numbers transposed.

If that doesn’t work, eat everything yourself. The intended recipient, who was probably receiving it as a gift - hence, the wrong address - will sort it out with the gift giver.

[quote] Without a fridge, you can store some dry cheeses in their original packaging at room temperature. Be careful though, this method of storage does not come without conditions. Indeed, a dry cheese can be stored outside the fridge for about 1 to 10 days if and only if temperatures are not too hot.

Eat it. Failing that your garage is probably safe for a day or so.

The only time I used Amazon Fresh for delivery, the driver left it at my next door neighbor’s house. I had milk, yogurt, cheese and meat and other things. My neighbor contacted me by mail that I had a delivery…2 weeks after the fact.

R1- Thanks for the Advice. I live in a neighborhood with long driveways. I'm not really friendly with the neighbors so I'm not sure I want to get involved in tracking down the proper recipient. I would have preferred contacting the company but since they are closed until Monday my choices are limited.

R3- Thanks. By Monday whomever delivered it Federal Express or the Cheese company will not take it back anyway because it is perisable. Like bringing some refrigerated item back to Costco- they are not allowed to accept it once it's left the store.

I just opened the box- A small container of olives, a small salami, and three different kinds of cheeses and a jar of something that was wrapped up. I put everything in my refrigerator- the contents were much smaller than I imagined. Maybe I'll just bring it all into the office on Monday or perhaps Monday morning I will call the retailer and ask them what to do first.

I don't like olives nor the salami.

Good for you, OP! Hopefully you can get it straightened out on Monday.

R7- I will report back here sometime on Monday to let you know what they said.

My God, this thread was more riveting than the morning of 9/11.

esus, what has this site become?

by Anonymousreply 9May 18, 2025 2:18 AM

Just eat it

by Anonymousreply 10May 18, 2025 3:22 AM

WHY the fuck are you turning this into some big complicated drama?

EAT the fucking food.

It's not your problem to "fix things". There's nothing to fix. Someone fucked up the address or delivery. The people involved will contact the company and get it resolved.

by Anonymousreply 11May 18, 2025 8:01 AM

Somebody obviously wanted to murder the OP with poisoned food. The carefully timed delivery gone wrong with the closed cheese store unavailable for clearance and the notice of perishable goods were designed to tempt the OP to nosh away into the great beyond.

All the posters urging the OP to eat the fucking food are highly suspicous and are left to wonder if on monday several people in OPs workplace will die a sudden death.
