I would like on good practical advice re gray hair

Yes i know. Lots of threads on these but nothing conclusive pisted about product. I was born with red hair, by the yime i was 5 it wad light light blind. By highsvhool it sotfened to ark brown by grad school it was light brown. Sone years ago ii got gray at the temples, looked good, esoecially since my hair became a mousy brown. Now, waaay too muck gray, it doesnt look goid eve. Though ive aged well otherwise and have all my hair. A dye job would look rediculouse. I just want my S and P hair to have less of tbe S,. How can I get out sone of tbe grY and being back tbe softer brown? Ive heard about Just For Men, but tbey have a lot of different products. Thznks in advance.

Your spelling and grammar make it clear you are Brenda Dickson, OP. Just keep the Instagram filter cranked up and you’ll be fine.

For your first time, I'd suggest you don't go cheap drugstore coloring. Find a professional colorist at a good hair salon or barber shop, explain everything you just wrote here, and have them counsel, even test colors on you.

Just it a bucket on your head op,it'd be a vast improvement

once you go black...

don't start a year's long process that's completely ridiculous and fools NO one. Keep it short and styled and go about ageing gracefully.

Worry more about your stroke than your hair color

by Anonymousreply 5May 17, 2025 7:34 PM

Use shoe polish.

How awful to have blind hair at age 5.

I prefer grey hair on men and women over dyed. Why are we so scared of aging?

I use Clairol Nice ‘N Easy ash blonde. It doesn’t cover all my gray hair, although it’s supposed to. That it leaves a lot of gray on me, and leaves a lot of variation of the blonde, works for me better, because it makes it look more natural. An old man with hair that is all one color looks silly.

Are you being chased by dogs, OP?

by Anonymousreply 14May 17, 2025 10:06 PM

Do better OP. No excuse for Stupid. You can see what you type, damn! Correct yourself!

Learn to love the grey

Make sure you have a good haircut

Dye jobs do not look good on men - and will age you even more.

OP, it has been proven that gray hair is caused by a lack of catalase. Take supplements that increase catalase like Vitamin C, D, E, zinc and selenium (or eat one or two brazil nuts per day for the selenium) then either juice fresh veggies every day or eat your 10-15 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Take fish oil supplements or eat 2 servings of oily fish per week. Take a B Complex which is important for healthy hair. It also prevents hairloss. Eat 1 serving of liver per week for the Vitamin A. Eliminate unhealthy foods too. You will find that your gray hair will gradually disappear.

OP, I do have advice for you. Stop drinking the Just For Men.

I find longer hair very unattractive on men the older we get, (same with women, but who cares?).

The being said, leave the color alone. Just keep it very short. Invest in some really hot baseball caps.

Just go straight for the "Daddy" thing.

Put a bag over your head. That will solve the gray hair issue and it will improve your love life.

It’s a win-win solution!

by Anonymousreply 21May 18, 2025 2:11 AM

If you’re going the coloring route let a professional do jt. Those box dye jobs are super obvious
