In the most Mary way possible, I feel like there’s going to be so much anti-lgbt crap this year - more than usual.
PRIDE is nigh…

Yes, and an increasing amount of the hateful noise will keep coming from our LGBT "community."

Question: what is Pride for these days?
I don't want to sound like one of *those* people but other than corporate brands posting rainbow pictures and events with ropey old pop stars and ropey old drag queens, who are the events for and what is the aim?
Certainly in the UK it's not LGBT Pride, it's T Pride, with many events focusing solely on the T and refusing to acknowledge any LGB issues.

OP, the Pride festivals will all be about Palestinians and trannies. It has nothing to do with gays. It’s irrelevant to most of us. It’s completely soulless made up of victim cosplay. You’ll see and hear two sides trading lame barbs. The rest of us will go about our lives.

It ain't Pride unless and until I see the magnificent Dykes on Bikes.

It’s a great parade & everyone has a great time. And it’s very colorful & free & music 🎶 everywhere. It’s a celebration of being different & bonding over that.

That’s my favorite Blondie song

Exactly, r6. "Pride" is now just "Free to be You and Me". If you liked it in the 70s, you'll like it now too.

Don't celebrate this "queer pride" I prefer bitter regret.

Gay Pride used to be a militant celebration of being GAY.
Now, it's Trans celebration of being DIFFERENT.
See?

As we near the Holy Month of Pride, let us consider...

NYT: Roughly one quarter of the corporate donors to New York City’s annual Pride festivities have either canceled or scaled back their support this year, citing economic uncertainty and fear that the Trump administration could punish corporations it viewed as supporting a celebration of gay and transgender rights. Almost all the biggest donors to last year’s celebration have pulled back, and the retreat has been seen at all levels of sponsorship.
It's left Heritage of Pride facing an unexpected shortfall of an estimated $350,000, a difficult blow for an organization whose spending has significantly outstripped its income every year since 2019, when it hosted WorldPride, a much larger global gathering.

Pride is so over

With all this money and Hollywood lip service, why does Pride get the worst musical acts? It’s always some faded 90s dance diva who’s 50 pounds and 20 years past her prime.
They hobble around croaking some old tunes to a beatbox and the whole exercise is so sad. Why can Pride get any A-listers? Or at least B?

In my friend group PRIDE is celebrated for inclusion, freedom of expression and against hate of any kind, and still going strong. The parade is huge and if you want to see naked hot cops, mandatory.

Very few gay men I know are interested in any organized "Pride" stuff. It's all blue-haired queers and trans and non-binary types. So much whining and very little sexy fun.

R16 I kind of feel the same way but haven’t heard many others express this. I just don’t relate to those types of people. As you approach middle age, you just begin to find the flaws in it. A lot of the folks who love that stuff are the total opposite of me.

I happily take any opportunity for joy I can get these days.

I want DL pride, with six colored flags and dunk tanks for the blue hairs. And no music past 1998.

Make Pride Political Again

Our local PRIDE has become what R16 describes. I used to go every other year with a group of gay men that I don’t really hang out with much anymore, but they’ve all abandoned PRIDE. I went to our local parade last year - granted, small Canadian city - but the only gay men there were the old timey ones who came out in the 70s and 80s. My cohort of mid to late 90s gays and beyond was largely absent. The majority was the blue-hair, non binary Gen Z crowd. Trans rights was the overarching theme. Good on them, but not my crowd. Regardless, I cringe at what fuckery the right will pull this year, and what homophobes, transphobes, etc., will be emboldened to do.
